Icelandic footballers

[edit]

Just a quick reminder that the vast majority of Icelandic footballers are known by their given names, as what we would normally think of as their surnames are in fact patronymics. Edits like this one are incorrect when they refer to the player as "Kristinsson", per the note at the top of the article in question. BigHaz - Schreit mich an 01:45, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Assistance

[edit]

Hi there DERBY, from Portugal,

great work on the Kennedy Bakircioglu article! I did some cleanup, but 99,9999999999999999999% of the improvements there are due to you :)

Now, if you can and since i don't speak Swedish and it's VERY PROBABLE no sources are found in English: can you please add references to Andreas Ravelli's article, one for his club career and another one for his 41 caps for Sweden (maybe you are lucky and need just one source for everything)? The storyline i created has been removed twice.

Thanks in advance, happy editing --Quite A Character (talk) 14:54, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Did what I could with Google Translate and improved Mr. Ravelli's article. Again, sorry for any inconvenience and I was glad to help make an article of a Swedish sportsperson better :) --Quite A Character (talk) 11:13, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Quite A Character! Sorry I could not help you, I have been offline for a couple of weeks. Just let me know if I can help you out any further :) Thanks for improving pages on Swedish footballers --Derby 95 (talk) 10:13, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jón Guðni Fjóluson

[edit]

Hi. In August 2018 you changed the article on Jón Guðni Fjóluson in various ways, but one edit changed the hatnote on his Icelandic last name. His last name is a matronymic, not a patronymic. To reflect that the template uses the word "female" instead of "male". This is not to reflect the gender of the person, but rather if the last name is a matronymic or a patronymic. Just a heads up. Notice

The article Akinkunmi Amoo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTY.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Astrit Selmani

[edit]

@Derby 95: Thank you for the edits, corrections and criticisms towards my editing that I did in the article by Astrit Selmani, at the beginning when I saw the summary about editing, where you said "both", at first I did not know what you were talking about, but when I saw the editing of the other editor I saw that you were right, the editing I did did not have any bad intentions in terms of nationality but all this are based from a interview of Selmani for a Kosovar media when he said that I got the Kosovar passport and just waiting for the invitation from Kosovo's coach.

I again made an edit by adding the translated titles to some reference links and removed the national part in the infobox until it was officially called by Kosovo. I apologize for my level of English and I am open for cooperation and for any communication between us I would prefer you to contact me by email: maniacofsport.wiki@outlook.com. ManiacOfSport (talk); 10:12, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, nice work on the page. The thing is, though, that the player doesn't pass WP:NFOOTY as the game he has played for Hammaraby in the cup was against Trelleborgs, which does not play in a fully-professional league. As he will very likely make his Allsvenskan debut shortly, I don't want to nominate it for deletion. Instead, I think it would be a good idea for you to move it to the draftspace, and publish it once he makes his pro debut. What do you think? Nehme1499 21:25, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Nehme1499: Hi, thanks for noticing that. He has now played in the semi-final of Svenska Cupen against Djurgårdens IF, a fellow Allsvenskan team, so he should match Wikipedia's criteria now. He has also scored in the game, which is on-going, so I will update his article after the final whistle. -Derby_95 (talk) 13:54, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Saidou Alioum moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Saidou Alioum, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) WP:NFOOTY is no longer a valid SNG, so GNG must be met. It needs several refs from independent, reliable, secondary sources to pass WP:GNG. It should have at least 3 of those. Please remember that routine sports coverage does not satisfy GNG, and that interviews, being primary sources, do not go to notability either. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
