SeoR (talk) 23:47, 24 June 2022 (UTC)"Did you know..."
[edit]This is a great addition to Wikipedia! Would you be interested in proposing it for the "Did you know...?" section of Wikipedia's front page? It's a section designed to showcase new content by suggesting an interesting short fact from the article. For example, "Did you know...that the Irish Bee Conservation Project helpd instal 24 wild bee lodges, designed to replace lost natural habitats, at Lough Gur?" If you propose that "hook" (or another from the article), I will help review it. It would need to be proposed within seven days of its creation. Let me know if you are interested. −− Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 00:47, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Wow, thanks! Yes I would be interested. I'm happy with that hook. How do I propose it? DdeBar (talk) 20:06, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
- Yay! I'm glad you want propose it. Anyone can propose it, but as a new editor, you have a chance to learn a little more about Wikipedia. Plus, until you have proposed 5 DYKs, you don't need to do a "quid pro quo" review of someone else's DYK. It's not a difficult process. See these pages:
- WP:DYKRULES
- WP:DYKNOM
- DYKNOM form
- It sometimes takes 2 or 3 weeks for an accepted DYK to move through the process, but this is an especially attractive new article, in my opinion, and I suspect it will go through without any issues. Let me know when you post it and I will review it pronto.
- Cheers! Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 21:48, 26 June 2022 (UTC)
- Uh oh, I've tried three times but each time I get an error : "Creating nomination page: Could not save the page because the wiki server wanted you to fill out a CAPTCHA.". I get the following which I'm told I can enter manually but I can't find how to bypass the form??
- Maybe it's just not meant to be :-)
- {{subst:NewDYKnomination | article = Irish Bee Conservation Project | status = new | hook = ... that the Irish Bee Conservation Project helped install 24 wild bee lodges, designed to replace lost natural habitats, at Lough Gur? <small>Source: "Other projects by the IBCP include the installation of 24 wild bee lodges at Lough Gur; these lodges are designed to replace lost natural habitats" Irish Bee Conservation Project#Projects</small> | ALT1 = ... that the Irish Bee Conservation Project is helping to rewild native bees in Co. - Good job so far! ... now try this: go to the DYK listing for June 24 and click on "edit source" to add the template text above directly under the June 24 section. Then
sign it with 4 tildes (~) at the bottom outside the template you've added, andsave. (No need to sign with tildes, as your username is included in the template.) Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 16:13, 28 June 2022 (UTC)- P.S.-- I added the code "nowiki.../nowiki" around the template above to prevent the text from displaying as a DYK nomination here. When you add the template to the DYK listings, leave off the nowiki code so it will diplay properly there. Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 16:42, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- Great, thanks! I've added that now. Thanks for all your help! DdeBar (talk) 12:16, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- There was another small glitch after I reviewed the DYK nom, but it has been repaired and it has now been moved to the approved DYk list. Within a couple of weeks, it will probably be "promoted" to a prep area as the DYK volunteers build the sets of DYks for publication. Now comes the hard part: patience! - Thanks for all of your help! DdeBar (talk) 09:06, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
- The DYK has been promoted to Prep area 1. You should be notified when it is moved to Queu1, probably with the week, then up to another week until it is published on the Main Page. It could be sooner because if there is backlog they have been changed out as often as every 6 hours. I'm pleased it was selected so soon! — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 00:06, 2 July 2022 (UTC)
- I found the schedule, which says it will be on the Main Page starting at 1:00 am your time on 10 July, for 24 hours. Sometimes if there is a problem in an earlier queue the volunteers may sub a DYK scheduled for later, so consider it a tentative time. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 01:45, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

DYK for Irish Bee Conservation Project
[edit]On 10 July 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Irish Bee Conservation Project, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Irish Bee Conservation Project is helping to rewild native bees with bee lodges on the estate of the historic Dunsany Castle? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Irish Bee Conservation Project. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Irish Bee Conservation Project), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
