Speedy deletion nomination of Madtown (movie)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Madtown (movie) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3663564/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Madtown (movie) has been reverted.
Your edit here to Madtown (movie) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.facebook.com/MadtownMovie/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 20:08, 13 February 2017 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Madtown (film)
[edit]The article Madtown (film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- unremarkable film. could find almost nothing about it on the web. Fails WP:NFILM
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Domdeparis (talk) 12:57, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Davidgoebel. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Madtown (film), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Nat Gertler (talk) 14:03, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
under construction tag
[edit]Hi I have tagged the article Madtown (film) as being under construction which should protect it from being deleted but to be perfectly honest the film fails the criteria for WP:NFILM from what I can see. Please read these guidelines and make sur that you supply information and sources that prove it meets these criteria. You must also declare your links with the film as per WP:DISCLOSE. You are clearly a conflict of interest editor and you should read the following page. WP:COI. Wikipedia is not a promotional tool and not a soapbox, please also read WP:NOTSOAPBOX. The page is limited to a synopsis and this is not acceptable for a page about a film, I would strongly advise you to read MOS:FILM. Domdeparis (talk) 14:20, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
madtown Notability
[edit]I am note sure what the definition of reliable 3rd party source is but in the movie business deadline and variety are worthy in addition the film won awards at the Cleveland Film festival in March of 2016 and has articles on cleveland.com The local Cleveland Ohio newspaper that has been in existence for over 100 years. Plus I am not being compensated by anyone to do this so there is no conflict of interest. Please help me understand the Wiki policy. Thank you
- Hello David, and welcome to Wikipedia. If you'd like information regarding what constitutes a reliable 3rd party source, this page may be able to help you, although I realize it may be a daunting read. Furthermore, a conflict of interest is not simply being paid to edit - if you have some sort of close external relationship to the subject that you are editing, you have a conflict of interest. All hope isn't lost, however, and a conflict of interest doesn't mean you have to stop editing. For a full guide on managing a conflict of interest, read the conflict of interest guide, but one of the more important takeaways from that page is that you should be making edit requests rather than direct edits to the main article. Here's a guide on that. I realize this may be a lot of information to take in, but please don't feel overwhelmed. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or at the teahouse, a page dedicated to helping newcomers.
- As a final note, don't forget to sign your talk page messages with four tildes (~) - it'll automatically generate your signature. Thanks, Pishcal (talk) 14:45, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for the info...one of your editors was going to delete the page because there was he or she could not find any creditable information about the movie...so it said that I should add 3rd party sources....so i thought that I did.
1. So you are saying that Cleveland.com (online version of Cleveland Plain Dealer...Ohio's largest newspaper) is not credible? In addition Deadline and Variety Magazine are not Creditable? By your definition then Wikipedia is not a creditable source!!!
2. I have no conflict of interest...I am adding content about a movie....with no opinion just facts...
3. I am happy to make suggested edits...I prefer that....so why not have a "Suggest Edit" tab on the top of the page instead of the "Edit" tab...big usability issue. From now on I will only make suggested edits.
Thanks for the info....now I need to find out how to make suggested edits.....
- Your conflict of interest becomes apparent with this edit where you say "We are small indie film trying to do our best..."; that makes it clear you are not detached from the film. This puts you in a different situation than most people who might edit the page, for whom the "edit" link is the appropriate one. Please post suggested edits on the Talk page for the article (You will find a Talk link at the top of the article's page.) --Nat Gertler (talk) 15:53, 15 February 2017 (UTC)
please update page with infobox

Orphaned non-free image File:Madtown Film 2016 Movie Poster.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Madtown Film 2016 Movie Poster.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:43, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the note:
I am not sure if I labeled the "Movie Poster" correctly. It is not being used by another wiki page that I am aware of. So how ever you classify movie posters would be accurate.
Thanks.
David Goebel 20:24, 2 March 2017 (UTC)98.160.79.126 (talk)
- What's going on is that there are two copies of the movie poster in our File section - the one used in the article (2016 Madtown movie poster) and the one named above (Madtown Film 2016 Movie Poster.jpg). Since the image is copyrighted, we can only keep it if it meets the legal guideline for "fair use". The one that we're using on the page does, as we're making some appropriate use of it. The other one isn't being used anywhere at all, so we don't have that excuse. But that's the one that's getting deleted; it will not be disappearing from the article (presuming the article survives the deletion discussion.)
- Oh. and you're not going to get a response from the user who posted what you responded to here... because it's not a human being. User names ending in "bot" are actually computer programs that do automated processes. --Nat Gertler (talk) 21:41, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
Thnks for the update. i am just trying to offer to help clean up some brokien links. The link did go to madtown a boy band from Korea...that link was incorrect. So I created a page for Madtown the film and the Wiki editors deleted it. (talk)
- I checked what pages link to the Madtown band page, and none of them appear to be intended to link to the film, so presumably the link was redirected along the way. In your edit summary, you asked why the page was deleted. Wikipedia does not try to have pages on all things. (If you think about, say, songs, there are literally millions of songs and we can't have a page on each. There are fewer feature-length films, but the concept still applies; we want the notable ones.) There was a discussion on whether Madtown was notable enough for a page - you can see that discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Madtown (film) - and literally no one came to the discussion to say that Madtown was indeed sufficiently notable. So the page was deleted. --Nat Gertler (talk) 17:20, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Madtown (film)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Madtown (film), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discusion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
