Apichatpong Weerasethakul
[edit]Regarding the List of gay, lesbian or bisexual people: the editors have established a criteria which requires that entries on that list have an article which mentions their orientation. Please add some mention of Weerasethakul's sexuality to his biography. Thanks, -Willmcw 08:30, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Hey - thanks for the message. I've made several contributions to the list; regarding Weerasethakul, it should be in the page, unless it's disappeared VERY recently; this was further verified via the Cineaste article.
- Sorry for missing that—bleary eyes. In fact, reviewing your contributions, I see you've been making some fine edits to a variety of articles. Thanks for participating in the project. Cheers, -Willmcw 09:46, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Ray articles
[edit]Hi David.Yes I am also very much intersted in Ray's works and would like to present the articles properly wikified. However, I have been not able to properly categorize all the artcles I started or edited. This is a must.We should work towards proper categorization.
What do you do and how did you become so involved with the films of Satyajit Ray? I stay in Calcutta and currently working as a house-staff in Calcutta Medical College. Bye.
Perhaps you have noticed, articles likePratidwandi.Jana Aranya,Ganashatru have been tagged as copyright infringrment or possible copyright violation.I a trying to modify those.Yes,I must admit I copied the text mainly from another website[www.satyajitray.org].However I am trying to modify. Please feel free to edit these articles.
Tornadoes and tornado outbreaks
[edit]Thanks for your work on eastern U.S. tornado events and your offer for further assistance on this informal project. I'm gonna add the new table version of the list within a few days and would value discussion on it (and the articles too). Evolauxia 06:54, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi! A request has been made for peer review of Kolkata. Could you please help improving the article? Thanks a lot.--Dwaipayanc 11:09, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Ray
[edit]I remember interacting with you a few months back. Have you lately seen Satyajit Ray? The article has been enhanced. Have plans to go for FAC in July-August , following a peer review in late June. Check it out.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:38, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Atlantatorichmond.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Atlantatorichmond.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:05, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Enigma tornado outbreak
[edit]The article looks like a fine start to me, you've really done some digging to glean information from newspapers. The format is okay for now, but should be expanded and made more narrative when information allows. If it were contended, I'd support the article as is for now as information is scarce, as evidenced by the name of the event itself. I do have access to the Grazulis book, as well as a video and guidebook which I recall discusses the outbreak. I don't know of the original Finley source material, however. Evolauxia 22:16, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
- The Finley and NWS materials would be very interesting to see, thanks. I do know Finley's book on tornadoes is freely available online, the first devoted solely to the subject. I don't remember what of the Enigma Outbreak is discussed. Evolauxia 02:13, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Great work on the Enigma tornado outbreak
[edit]Thank you so much for your work on the Enigma tornado outbreak. The article now looks wonderful and has a chance to be nominated for something. How did you find those tornadoes, the NCDC database does not go back that far? Southern Illinois SKYWARN (talk) 14:56, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the message. Another useful resource is WFO PAH's tornado database. Unfortunately, it only shows tornadoes in the CWA, and it uses Grazulis's book. It still should help somewhat. Southern Illinois SKYWARN (talk) 14:12, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Message from WikiProject Punk music
[edit]Hello!
You may be interested to know that WikiProject Punk music has recently undergone a major revitalization. Please visit the project page to see our new look and check out some of our helpful new features, such as the Assessment Department and the Collaboration of the week. There are also a number of tasks on our Things to do page that you may be interested in helping with.
We are currently holding a roll call to help gauge how many active project members we have. Please visit the project's talk page and add your signature to the roll sheet to express your continued interest in the project. Also, if you have not already done so, please take a minute to add your name to the Participants page along with a brief summary of your punk-related interests, so that other project members will be better able to collaborate with you. If you do not add your signature to the roll sheet by November 30, 2008 your name will be moved to our list of inactive members. We may also take the liberty of removing the project userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:WikiProject Punk music members. Of course you are free to rejoin the project and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active in the project again.
Thank you and we hope you will continue to support WikiProject Punk music!
You are receiving this message because you have previously identified yourself as a member of WikiProject Punk music, either because your name appears on the Participants page or because you have placed the project userbox on your user page. As a courtesy, if you have left the project, retired from Wikipedia, or simply no longer wish to be an active project member, please remove the userbox from your user page. This will remove you from Category:WikiProject Punk music members and help the project to keep its active membership list up-to-date. |

WP:FILMS Questionnaire
[edit]As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

The article is about a tree, not a fruit. There is a separate article on the fruit at Soursop. --EncycloPetey (talk) 01:58, 18 January 2011 (UTC)
Tropical fruit categories
[edit]My understanding of standard practice is that where you have nested categories such as fruit and tropical fruit one only places an article in the most specific category. (For example an Annona species would be only in category Annona, and not also in Annonaceae, Magnoliales, Magnoliids, Angiosperms, Plants, Eukaryotes and Organisms - if you use all nested categories one can see that the page would get rather cluttered.) Hope all goes well for you! :)
[edit]I know this may be a bit off-topic, but I saw your post at Talk:Mid-April_2011_Southern_United_States_tornado_outbreak#C-class, and I just wanted to say good luck on your surgery, and I hope all goes well. :) - SudoGhost (talk) 07:24, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Question about Acca Sellowiana...
[edit]Where did you learn so much information about feijoa? I am also studying it as well. 128.192.203.151 (talk) 18:14, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Some research at the libraries in my area (University of North Carolina), some anecdotal from friends who have lived in Argentina, and some from loving the fruit. It's a favorite fruit snack, extremely difficult to find in my part of the world, and I've tried to cultivate the plants, but it's is just *slightly* too hot in the summers and too cold in the winters for them to survive well here :(
Beautiful, fascinating plants however. I have friends in the UK, New Zealand, and Argentina who grow them, and they have taught me a lot.
Tamarillo
[edit]Hi! I added a lot of information to the Wikipedia entry on tamarillo, but I really tried to include as much of your text as possible, you even find some of your original sentences. I saw that you just recently worked on this entry, so I'm sorry that I've changed everything again. Your english (of course) is so much better than mine... Mspoerri (talk) 09:15, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:38, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!
2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
