Hi again David. The work you did regarding the tags and codes is just great. The article looks wonderful. I still don't know how to do all that technical stuff, as of yet. I've added more information but will have to work on collecting more references tomorrow. Some information came from the Austin Chronicle article, which I've added to the "External links" section. I've also left messages on a few talk pages. As well, I took a look at the "Guidelines for Notability" and, as you will notice when you look at the article, it seems evident that Sarah falls well within these guidelines. Japanese saddles

Thanks for the message, if you look at the talk page Talk:Saddle you will see that I am having a little problem with an editor who resents me trespassing on HIS article. He has had the article blocked because I dared to link the term "kura" to the kura (Japanese saddle) image gallery on Wikipedia commons as there is currently no wikipedia article to link to, this is something I have done on numerous articles with absolutely no complaints. I am gathering information and images to eventually write a good article but in the mean time I wanted to add some good referenced information the the existing article. If have an interest in the subject and you feel like getting involved you can take a look at the talk page and give your opinion on my solution to the current problem. unfree file

I uploaded it from a flickr photo. the photo at flickr claims to be released under the license which I provided at wikipedia when I uploaded it. If the original flickr user lied about the license, (I am not the owner of the flickr account), then I did not intentionally upload a copyrighted file.DÜNGÁNÈ (talk) 00:25, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Also, the photo which was previously on the article before I replaced it was fraduently released under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 License., when the original flickr photo showed no such permission, on the contrary, on the right side under "license", it says : " All Rights Reserved".

Due to the copyrighted status of the original photo, I searched on flickr for a photo and found it over here, on the right side, under "License", it provided a link to the "Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License", which allows for the photo to be used. If it is a scan of a movie poster, then its the original flickr user which posted fake information about the copyright.

And I have no particular interest in the photo, as I said, I was looking for a replacement of the original photo which was also copyrighted, you guys should delete both files. Thank you for being vigilant.DÜNGÁNÈ (talk) 00:34, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Leonard Wood

You undid my addition mentioning Gingrich's reference to Leonard Wood as 'irrelevant.' If you will look at the page view statistics you will see that there was a very dramatic spike in page viewing after Gingrich's reference. This is an empirical indication of the relevance to Gingrich doing so. Clearly, persons became interested in viewing the article as a result of Gingrich mentioning him. I am an Army combat veteran and knew about Fort Leonard Wood because, among other things, my older brother was also an Army combat veteran and did his basic training there. I never knew for whom the Fort was named, but because of of Newt Gingrich's comment, I took the trouble to look it up, like many others. The comment has obviously had a significant impact on Leonard Wood's legacy. Whatever the merit of the comment, it had the effect of evoking the memory of Leonard Wood, and adding to his legacy. That is the point of mentioning it. Normally, I wouldn't bother to pursue this, because having a single edit undone is not that big of a deal, but I'm going to make an exception in this case, because I've been insulted by the insinuation that my addition to the article had a political motivation. I'm flabbergasted by the insinuation. To what end was my contribution serving a political purpose? Lincoln (2012 film)

I saw your use of the diamond to represent fictional or composite characters. The concern I have is that we don't have any citations to reliable sources that say these characters are fictional. We have a source saying, for example, that Walter Goggins plays Wells A. Hutchins, a real Congressman of the era. Maybe Spielberg and Kushner changed to a composite character. Thank you for your inquiry. Before we use the term "original research", let's come to a common understanding. I think after more than a decade of editing, it is safe to assume that every single member of congress who has ever served in the house of representatives now has an article on wikipedia. One resource that could be used to verify membership in the 38th congress (1863-65) would be to look up the name on the wiki page for the 38th congress:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/38th_United_States_Congress

If that is not satisfactory, then the US House of Representatives runs its own historical website (http://history.housegov/). Individual members can be looked up, but so far I haven't found a page that groups members according to congress, so it does take a few clicks to verify the name.

As for the Wells A. Hutchins stuff you mentioned above, I didn't write or edit that. If you want, delete it. I added the diamond, but like I mentioned in the comment of my edit, anyone can feel free to change it. I just think that there does need to be some mention some where that some members are based upon historical figures and some are fictional, at least in name.

You may very well be correct, but in order to say in the article that these characters are fictional, we need to provide a reference to a reliable source that says they are fictional. Can you suggest a source about the film that says that? Otherwise, how do you know it and how can a reader such as me verify it? I also hope that you have a good day. I think I have given enough academic justification for calling these characters fictional. Moreover, it's simple logic to say that if the characters were not members of congress, then the characters were not historical congressional figures. You do not need a source that says "This figure was created for this film" and such a source may very well not exist. That would be no more necessary than finding a source that says "Darth Vader is not a historical figure and was created for the purpose of the Star Wars films." It is unlikely that such a source exists because who would find it necessary to write that? You are also misusing the term original research, which is a dangerous accusation to throw around in wikiland. Original research would be if I was challenging a common held assumption with a new hypothesis. I don't think anyone with knowledge of congressional history would think these figures are real, so no original research here. If you want to go further with this, start a debate on the Lincoln film page calling this original research and we can let the wikipedia editors have vote. Need help with Inter-wikilink error

I am a bit confused about this new wikidata code attached to articles and its causing an error to come up when I try to make an inter-wikilink.

I want to create an interwiki link from this article, Ole_Olufsen, to it's Danish equivalent, [1]. When I try to do that I get directed to this page, [2], and I get the error below:

"Site link Ole Olufsen is already used by item Q12330127. Perhaps the items should be merged and one of them deleted? Request deletion of one of the items at Wikidata:Requests for deletion, or ask at Wikidata:Interwiki conflicts if you believe that they should not be merged."

It looks like Q12330127 is a wikicommons page about Ole Olfusen. So what am I doing wrong?

It looks as though Q12330127 is a duplicate. I have placed a deletion request for it. Once it has gone, it should be possible to link both the Danish and Commons entries to Q3350261. The article currently says: "it is the first and the only international high school providing an American high school curriculum in Jiangsu Province." Invitation to WikiProject Portals

Hi,

I noticed your interest in portals. Here is what has been going on behind-the-scenes with them...

Currently, there are about 1500 portals, comprised of 150,000 pages in portal space, the rest beyond the 1500 being subpages. Most of those subpages contain an excerpt, copied and pasted from some article. Such excerpts never change, and they go stale over time (no longer matching the original source material).

The Portal WikiProject was rebooted on April 17th, and has grown to 68 members. We've been busy redesigning the portal model so that portals will not need all those subpages.

The design concept called "selective transclusion", which is used for migrating excerpts (moving them to the base page), does so by displaying part of an article the same as a template. An added benefit of this is that it also keeps them fresh, by always showing the current version of the content that is transcluded.

We are also working on ways to make excerpted content, and listed entries, dynamic, so that the material or links shown automatically change over time without the intervention of an editor. Selected articles, could be set up to change daily, for example, to present a different article each day. This can even be made to show a different article every time a user visits the page. Currently, we can do this from a set list. We're trying to make it so that the list is updated automatically from an external source that is regularly maintained.

Other automated solutions are being sought or developed for each section type of portals. To automatically update and archive news, did you know entries, and so on.

Once we get a fully automated design worked out, it will be applied to all the portals that do not have dedicated maintainers. This will reduce the amount of maintenance they need. A single editor will then be able to watch over far more portals than before, ideally, with each portal taking up only a single page in portal space.

The Portal WikiProject is dedicated to updating, upgrading, and maintaining the entire portal system and every portal in it.

I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.

Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.
