Rather than edit war, present reasons

[edit]

Constantly reverting edits acheives nothing. If you think that something deserves its place on Wikipedia, argue its case.

Other national football team articles typically have a section showing their results over last six months, sometimes a year. More extensive statistical lists are discouraged. If you believe there is a pressing reason why it is important that Chile should differ from the vast majority of comparable articles, please explain why rather than simply undoing my edits. Kevin McE (talk) 10:09, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In my country, it's important to know the Bielsa ´s campaign. Maybe in others articles the time is minor but we have maintained thisrele information because last 4 years have been so relevant our country. So if you want to not understand this, i suggest to not edit this specifical issue.
Have a good time
This seems to be what in Wikipedia is called WP:Recentism: the suggestion that recent events are more noteworthy than those of long ago. It is not an encyclopaedic approach, so is discouraged. Such detail would be more suited to Bielsa's article. Please consider that the priorities of Chilean readership is not best served on an English language encyclopaedia. Kevin McE (talk) 10:04, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Once again, you are editwarring rather than explaining your preference. In the article Chile national football team it can be confidently assumed that most of the information is about the Chile national football team: it is unnecessary to head sections as History of the Chile national football team, Players of the Chile national football team, Competitive record of the Chile national football team etc; why are you adding this superfluous qualifier to the heading about sponsors? The vast majority of football team articles with a sponsors' section also find it sufficient to describe them simply as "sponsors": the designation "official" is redundant, and somewhat tautologous: what would an unofficial sponsor's role be? Furthermore, the phrasing that you have twice reverted to breaks the policy about capitalisation of subheadings. So please either undo your reversions or justify them in the light of these comments. Kevin McE (talk) 00:50, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The idea of sponsors not being official is meaningless: they are sponsors because they have entered into a contractual agreement with the relevant body to provide funding in return for privileged sales and promotional opportunities. Sponsors of a national football team without the recognition of the national football authority simply cannot exist. That is why it is totally redundant to refer to them as "Official sponsors" (the capital on sponsors, even if this phrasing were appropriate, is both ungrammatical and contrary to policy: WP:MOSHEAD). One may as well characterise Bielsa as the Official coach: he does, by your terms, merit such a qualifier as his tenure is "officially recognized by the ANFP". Kevin McE (talk) 01:40, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

there's a lot of sponsors that aren't official around the national team and use it at their campaigns. That's why I make the difference. Don't try to use other policies about this. the same you said about Bielsa 's Campaign and your . Try to Stop your attempts to change this structure please. Have a good time

In that case they are not sponsors! Please, if you do not understand the meaning of English terms, consider whether you are qualified to edit an English language encyclopaedia. If you are not willing to have the Chile national football team page follow the same practices as can be seen on other nft articles, then you need to present reasons at WP:FOOTY as tp why they should all be changed. Kevin McE (talk) 18:53, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I understand very well the understanding of sponsors. But at Chile and this is a local request, we understand the difference between sponsors and official sponsors. That's why i make the difference, because i'm trying to be very clear about that. This is not personal but your way to try to put issues about this it's just like a paranoid. it's the same position when you tried to boicot the edit of Marcelo Bielsa 's campaign. I disagree your point of view.

Well, it would appear that you Chileans understand the concept of "unofficial sponsors" that this graduate native English speaker who works in education has never come across. Please explain the role of an "unofficial sponsor". If you cannot do so, please accept that a distinction that might make sense according to the use of auspiciador in Spanosh is not applicable in English. Chile national football team

[edit]

Hi, I was just wondering if there is any way that a "Recent Call up" section similar to the one in the Argentina article and most South American teams, be done in the Chile national football team article, I ask you since you are one of it's main editors. Doing this would probably stop the IP user that keeps on removing players from this section. Regards --Bocafan76 (talk) 18:44, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

yes it could be a good idea, but i don't have all the information that it needs. I hate this IP. Maybe if you got the info, i could help you. Bye The IP is just boycotting this page along a while. He changes the Ip every time.

We could start the section from May of this year, when the preliminary world cup squad was announced which is like 5 months ago, then as time passes increase it to 6 months and maybe eventually 1 year. The article's history could be used as reference, since I too don't have the info. Regards --Bocafan76 (talk) 23:15, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Started the changes to the "Recent Call up" section, let me know what you think. Also if you see something that is wrong or if you want to add some content your welcome to it. Regards --Bocafan76 (talk) 01:06, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great job finishing the section up, the only thing is that once the year is finish the "The following players have been called up in 2010" statement would have to be changed to "The following players have been called up for the team in the last 12 months", that way the section won't have to be blank out for the new year, anyways take care and once again great job. Player stats - African national teams

[edit]

I noticed that you update the caps and goals for players in national team articles, specifically the African national team. I'm guessing your source is national-football-teams.com. If so, then you need to be wary of the fact that national-football-teams has a lot of missing data for African national teams and therefore caps and goals figures listed on the site may not be accurate. Take Sudan for example, a team where you are also updating the stats... just go to the Sudan page on national-football-teams.com and go through it year by year, lots of missing data! So much so that, 2007 and earlier, there is no data! Therefore, don't just blindly update player stats without using that source without knowing if there is missing data for a particular country and therefore if it affects the accuracy of a player's stats! You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2014 FIFA World Cup squads. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. SpinningSpark 17:29, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your Chile national team revert

[edit]

Hi Danielmordor,

I recently made an edit to the Chile national football team page, and you reverted it without any explanation. Common decency and a commitment to the best for Wikipedia would both beg for an explanation? Theresonly1zlatan (talk) 22:01, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Ecuador national football team head to head, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
