Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 15:54, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. [1] MrOllie (talk) 18:10, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. MrOllie (talk) 19:20, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the final warning you will receive regarding your disruptive edits. The next time you insert a spam link, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. MrOllie (talk) 19:35, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for spamming or advertising. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. What we need from you is some indication that you understand our policies on using Wikipedia for advertising and editing in areas where you have a conflict of interest. You should avoid writing about subjects you are personally involved with. The fact that many businesses have a page on Wikipedia does not mean that they were written by those companies, and all content needs to be verified by reliable sources. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:23, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

First of all, I thought someone was deleting my post and not being edited by Wikipedia, I did not understand what was happening that is why I kept re-posting. Once I saw the messages I thought my only problem was the external link that I posted, which I removed in my final posting.

I also do not understand what I am posting which is inappropriate. I am adding something that is very relevant to the topic, and I am now not providing any external links. Please explain to me the exact thing I did wrong and it will never happen again. Sorry for the confusion.

The tone was extremely promotional - "up and coming premium street wear brand New Gotham Designs", so even though there is no actual link it is still spam - it implies that that brand is "worth a look". This does not fit it with the core policy of neutral point of view.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:51, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Completely understood. I did not read over the terms of posting until after we became blocked. I realize the mistake of the post and absolutely see your point.
Will my account be reinstated, now that I understand the policy of not promoting a brand on pages?
Can you provide an example of some article you'd be editing and what you'd change or add? (Also, please sign your messages on talk pages by adding ~~~~ at the end.  Frank  |  talk  05:36, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand I cannot mention or promote anything within my interest business-wise. That being said, can I setup a wikipedia page just for my business? I see other companies have done so. I would not be mentioning our companies name on any other pages, except for the page for the business. Thanks Danhunnewell (talk)
No, you can't, unless your business meets our notability criteria. Daniel Case (talk) 16:11, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
