Hi admin, will you please look into these page as the actor is failing WP:NACTORS and still the redirect was changed into article without any discussion on talk page or any where. There are many other actor articles which currently do not have articles just because they have only one released films like Ananya Pandey. But extended confirm users created Janhvi's article without any discussion and keep posting huge puffery there as page is extended confirm protected and nobody is seeing them. I mean is not this thing is wrong considering Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Janhvi Kapoor. Will you please look into these matter or just unprotect this page so i will changed this article to redirect again? Because the protection is no more needed if the article is created. Regards 122.8.27.110 (talk) 14:45, 29 September 2019 (UTC)

Pakistanpedia, is that you? You're not welcome to edit here so long as your block is active. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:59, 29 September 2019 (UTC)
What? Blocks mean something? Bah! Now follow the rules that I want you to while I ignore the ones I don't like! (And ignore that she won a reasonably notable award ...) Ravensfire (talk) 15:37, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
@Ravensfire: I actually have reservations about this article. For a couple of years, people have tried to legitimise this article subject. A debut award is somewhat meaningless, IMO, since it is pretty much like a public relations debutante ball. The rest of her upcoming credits are vapour until they manifest. That said, I think it's an uphill battle, as any stern objection would be overruled as soon as those WP:CRYSTAL films come out. I dislike the Pakistanpedia socking, but I think this one marketing push will ultimately win. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:35, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
Cyphoidbomb, sadly, I agree with you. Once those two 2020 films are released, there's no question about NACTOR being met. I think some of the writing can be tweaked some to get it a bit less promotional in tone. Ravensfire (talk) 16:26, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

need administrator eyes on something.

I got a notification about two articles: Manoj K. Varghese and India Elements. When I checked them, they looked like regular paid articles. I thought about CSDing them but then I noticed that there was references from very good sources like The Hindu and Deccan Herald. After I checked them, it turns out they are all bogus references meant to trick a potential CSD. They do not mention the subject of the article at all. This is the work of an experienced paid editing ring and more advanced than I've ever seen. I thought about notifying WP:COI but that doesn't seem like the right venue for it. So I'm requesting you to please look or notify someone who can look at it. Thank you. Regards, TryKid (talk) 14:18, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Also see Fayiz Muhammed which was created by one of the editors of the two pages above. There's zero doubt in my mind it's paid editing - the article subject called the page out on his Facebook page and the subject isn't in the normal range of articles for Srijit777. I left a pretty stern notice on their talk page about WP:PAID. I don't think any of these are speedy candidates, but they may not survive a full AFD. Ravensfire (talk) 15:34, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
@TryKid: I appreciate your eagle-eye! Some of those articles look like they were pasted after being written in whatever sweatshop they were crafted in. I agree with Ravensfire. Doing a little WP:BEFORE due diligence, Manoj K. Varghese would probably get smoked in an AFD. And sadly, that article creator hasn't edited in ages, so sanctions are probably not going to be useful for them. I want to correct one piece of info--most of the references at the Varghese are legitimate except for the first. However, they're all passing mentions that don't do anything to assert his notability. I would support an AFD for that article. That said, the A7 potentially could be argued here. That criterion is a little tricky for casual editors, because it has a two part Credible claim of significance. Basically: 1) Is it plausible that the subject is a theatre director? Uh, sure. 2) If it is true, would that plausibly imply that the subject is notable? Meh. I don't think a theatre director is likely to be notable. There are probably a gazillion small-town theatres. A film director in a major market working for established studios? That might make the A7 cut even if they might not ultimately be notable. I'm also having doubts about India Elements, who might not pass WP:NCORP, but might not also pass A7, since I don't think a management company would typically confer notability. There are tons of management companies out in the world doing things. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:28, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
Cyphoidbomb, I did a super quick pass on both articles and pulled out some of the drek. I think the Varghese is PROD able after removing some of the unsourced and promotional junk plus the massive section on events that doesn't belong there. The India Elements is probably better for AFD. Ravensfire (talk) 16:35, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

This might make it easier for you to spot potential socks in article edit histories. Rating template

Sir, are we suppose to use rating templates like this in the references or in the article body? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:04, 24 October 2019 (UTC)

We should definitely not be using them in the article body, as most quality articles don't even focus on star ratings. I've seen them occasionally used in references, but I can't say that I remember seeing this outside of Indian film articles, meaning that it could be something limited to a small set of users who have their own ideas, rather than following established norms. I'm going to ask at WT:FILM. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:12, 24 October 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for taking it to WT:FILM. It seems most are against its usage. It would be nice if people there codify it. Thanks again. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:22, 25 October 2019 (UTC)

Sir, it seems Jabbulakonda is Rvls. Reverting back Marana Simhasanam, Aditya 369, Malayalam cinema, Kannada cinema, Telugu cinema and Athadu to versions by Rvls. Language or film industry

Sir, should we link "regional industry" or the "language" in the lead of actor articles. It is regarding this edit. I typically put the phrase "Hindi language films" instead of "Hindi cinema" for example, since language is the primary topic. Is that correct? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:16, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

@Fylindfotberserk: I am of the opinion that in this circumstance, I would not link to the cinema. When non-Indians see words like "Konkani" or "Kannada", they're not going to expect to be taken to a page on the ethnic industry. The language seems the more intuitive matter to educate the reader about. Oh, and I would never link to English language, since nobody reading a Wikipedia article on the English Wikipedia is going to be confused and need further education. Regards. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:10, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Something important you need to see

Remember the genre-obsessed French IP that was troubling us (and still is)?

I have come across a user whose edits are exactly the same as the IP. Gopichand's films are frequent targets.

The page Ontari has been targeted by the IP multiple times. The user behind the IP and Rehmaan4 have added different genres along with the film's main genre action. Action drama, action romance, action thriller and action crime have been added multiple times and I reverted them again. They are not sticking with one genre or subgenre, and are only trying to add whatever they like no matter how factually incorrect it is.

Same is the case with Jil. Comedy was added to Souryam by the IP multiple times, and the user Rehmaan4 has done exactly the same to this page and its remakes.

We need to deal with this in order to stop the vandals from distorting the pages again and again. I hope you can do something in this regard. Is there a way to get both the user and the IP blocked? Because forget the IP which is definitely a vandal, the user has also not added anything constructive and most of their edits are aimed the genres. Please see what can be done. Thanks. (77Survivor (talk) 17:57, 31 October 2019 (UTC))

@77Survivor: I left them a long notice. I am going to treat them as though they aren't related, but I tend to agree with you that they are possibly related. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:35, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: Let's see what more can be done. The IP at least has to be banned because its user uses multiple ranges to vandalize genres and box office results. Anyways, thanks for quickly responding to this issue :) (77Survivor (talk) 18:46, 31 October 2019 (UTC))

@77Survivor: What is the most recent IP that you've seen them use? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:08, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
@77Survivor: By the way, looking at the Ontari (film) edit history, I wanted to give you a tip that you don't have to undo edits one-by-one. If you select a range of edits, like this, which contains all five sequential edits made by that user, you can then click Undo and it will revert all five of those edits. Notice how I start with your edit? That's showing me all five changes that differ from the last version you edited. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:14, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: Thanks for the advice. I was really willing to know how to make a range of edits. Also, here are the two recent IPs I have seen them using: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2A01:E35:8A13:2F70:F9BF:A35C:6DA:B103 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2A01:E35:8A13:2F70:10A9:2F53:CDC2:1961. (77Survivor (talk) 19:17, 31 October 2019 (UTC))

@77Survivor: I just applied a range block to the most recent IP and did a mass revert of their changes across multiple IPs. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:36, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: Thanks a lot! That should work for about a month without any issues. (77Survivor (talk) 19:40, 31 October 2019 (UTC))

@77Survivor: We'll see. They could hop to another range. If you could let me know if you see more of these, I'd appreciate it. I probably should have blocked the range for longer. Remind me of that next time. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:46, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi I wanted to add some more non reliable sources to this list along with the discussion on them. Can I add them to the list or there is some kind of procedure for that. Regards. --Sid95Q (talk) 11:00, 2 November 2019 (UTC)

@Vamshij: When starting a new discussion thread, please create a new section at the bottom of user talk pages instead of opening a query in the middle of the page as you did here. Secondly, I don't know what article you are referring to, but typically edit requests are made on the appropriate article talk page. Lastly, making edit requests without providing sufficient references doesn't typically yield any result. No Wikipedia editor is going to want to do your research for you. 37.132.53.109

I noticed your reversion of 37.132.53.109 at List of Oggy and the Cockroaches episodes and thought I'd point out that this is a returning vandal who persistently changes dates like this and adds false information. Occasionally he adds apparently genuine information but there's far more vandalism. --AussieLegend () 20:24, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

Abby Hatcher

Yes, there has been a back-and-forth going in Abby Hatcher. As to why it has been going on, well, there's a user who's been repeatedly changing stuff without stating any edit summaries. Also, I think his/her changes seem to make less sense. The user has been going by these IPs:

  • 2A02:C7F:76B3:A300:5560:C624:205E:62
  • 2A02:C7F:76B3:A300:3935:3241:6CC8:F257

2605:E000:2E52:FA00:108D:374C:F8BC:410 (talk) 02:59, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

Since you appear to be having a content dispute with another editor, the article talk page is the place to discuss these changes, not my personal talk page. Most of the descriptions you restored in this edit are personal opinions and equivalencies, and don't belong in an encyclopedia. "Amazing and quirky", "toy-like", "detective-like", "watch-like", "rabbit-like", "slug-like", "goo-like", "cat-like", "quail-like", etc. This is an encyclopedia article, not a fan site; we write in professional tone. Bhaumik Gondaliya

There's a troll hopping across IP addresses adding this name to any article he edits. 157.32.68.200 is the last one I caught. Please be on the lookout for more. --Kailash29792 (talk) 13:49, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

@Kailash29792: Thanks for the tip. I cleaned out scores of these additions today. He's largely been doing this since early October, but I found his name in the Rustom (film) article, which dates back to 2016. Looking into having an edit filter reject these. Priyanka in KUMKUM BHAGYA

I have added the character and cast of Priyanka in kumkum bhagya. Last time, I added you had mentioned that the new cast will come below. But after reading the guidelines carefully, I also observed that the new cast donning a role at present will be placed aboved the already exited characters and next to the character they are affecting the most. That is why I placed Priyanka's character below Rishi. --Piggoos (talk) 14:18, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

I'm still having trouble seeing where Lawrence identifies as Telugu, as opposed to considering himself of bi-ethnic, or whatever the correct phrasing is. This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

@Vikas.bikaneri: Why? If you want to attempt to create an article about him, then do so in draft space and submit through our WP:AFC process. Note that he has previously not been considered notable, so you would have a significant hurdle to overcome if you were to do so. See our general notability guideline, because it would be a waste of your time to create an article about someone if you could not demonstrate that they met our notability guidelines. IP user continually disrupting articles

Hey Cyphoidbomb, this IP user 2409:4060:402:cfaf:45b2:cafe:a3c5:1f91 and other IPs similar to this (like 2409:4060:402:cfaf:de1c:ca68:9ea6:e8c5(talk)) is disrupting some articles by continuously vandalizing and also adding a fake entry by the Pratyush Kumar Bandopadhyay in the cast section of the following articles - Magic Moments Motion Pictures, Mohor (TV series), Kora Pakhi, Nokshi Kantha, Sreemoyee, Jiyon Kathi and Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka!. This has been going on for few months now, please make these articles semi protected and block these IPs. I also left a message for him/her at one of the IPs. Ericranium (talk) 08:43, 31 December 2019 (UTC)

@Ericranium: I've blocked some of them, but it looks difficult to do a proper rangeblock on their IP range. I'm seeking guidance elsewhere. I've semi-protected some, but not all of those articles for a month. Sometimes it's good to leave some "honeypots" so that we can properly track the disruption. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:39, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: Thanks and wish you a happy and prosperous new year. Mohor is a better "honeypot" than Jiyonkathi though as he/she disrupted Mohor on pretty much a regular basis. Ericranium (talk) 07:16, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

You may want to keep an eye on this one (again?). But there was just an undiscussed move (I've reverted), and widespread change in terminology at the article which looks to be unsourced and probably unjustified in any cast (I've reversed that too). --IJBall (contribstalk) 08:29, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

@IJBall: I'm aware generally of what's happening at the article. I've commented on a few issues on its talk page. If you want to be the watchdog to make sure the content is consistent with community guidelines, that would make my job as admin easier. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:55, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

Disruptive editor Pratyush Kr (talk)

@Cyphoidbomb: Hey Cyphoidbomb, this IP user you previously did a range block on has opened an account by the name Pratyush Kr (talk) only to disrupt related non-protected articles as a "revenge" for not being allowed to add his name in the cast section of the aforementioned articles, you can check his contributions to further confirm the same. Block him or do something about this or he will continue vandalizing and deleting content from articles.Ericranium (talk) 22:21, 2 January 2020 (UTC)

@Ericranium: They've been indeffed. Please let me know if you see them again. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:03, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi. There are disruptive edits in the article Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke happening since long time mentioning Rithvik Arora and Kaveri Priyam as main lead along with Shaheer Sheikh and Rhea Sharma. But, multiple reliable sources mention only Sheikh and Sharma as leads while Arora and Priyam play pivotal roles / parallel leads. What is your opinion in this? Can you help to solve this issue!? Noobie anonymous (talk) 10:37, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

@Noobie anonymous: How are the cast members billed on the series? Are there opening credits? That's where we would typically find this information, and sometimes the stars change as the series evolves, in which case, we would add new main cast members to the bottom of the Main cast list. See WP:TVCAST. Note that "Main cast" for most series across the world will have more than two people. Look at the Filipino series Ina, Kapatid, Anak, or the British series Downton Abbey, or the American series Game of Thrones, etc. In fact, I'd say it's extraordinarily bizarre for there to only be two main characters in a serial. If some Indian TV shows don't list their proper "stars" in the intro credits, you should complain to these networks, because these sorts of disputes will always exist as long as Indian TV shows do things differently than the rest of the world. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:40, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

Disruptive editor Pratyush Kr resorting back to IP address for vandalizing

@Cyphoidbomb: They have started vandalizing articles like List of programs broadcast by Star Jalsha and the various serials produced by the production house Magic Moments Motion Pictures like he vandalized Phagun Bou for example. Please indefinitely semi protect all of these articles as these articles either have no scope of further editing (as the serials have ended already and the articles more or less have stable content and can only be vandalized or active pages like "Programs broadcast by Star Jalsha" are regularly updated by verified and reliable editors. Also block those recent IP users, as I want to see what else will he vandalize when all the articles he wants to are protected. Ericranium (talk) 11:33, 4 January 2020 (UTC)

Response to 'January 2020' You left on my Talk Page

I don't believe this criticism towards me is entirely warranted. I wasn't adding my own point of view (or personal analysis, as you put it) into the article. It's extremely common for hundreds of film articles on Wikipedia to have the 'Flop' verbage in there with the necessary citation. Here's an example: Mohenjo Daro (film). Why don't you go ahead and remove the 'flop' reference in this article too? If the source being referenced explicitly declares a film a flop (based on its box office/production budget), there's no problem having this mentioned in the article, just as thousands of other movie articles on Wikipedia have done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BollywoodEnthusiast (talkcontribs) 21:34, 7 January 2020 (UTC)

@BollywoodEnthusiast: Classic "fix this before you fix that" logical fallacy. That's not how life works. If a police officer arrests someone for theft, should the thief demand that every other thief in the world be arrested first? Ridiculous. Problems are addressed as they are discovered. And no, such labels are not suitable for inclusion, just like we wouldn't declare a film "rotten" just because that's what Rotten Tomatoes thought of it. I don't recommend adding any more of these hyperbolic labels, as you will likely wind up with your editing privileges interrupted. Use neutral language, please, which is required by WP:NPOV. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:43, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: It is a little laughable that you're attempting to compare this to a real life police officer arresting of a thief scenario. Kind of shows that you're perhaps a little in over your head and taking this watching of Wikipedia article edits a little too personally. Relax, your responsibilities are not comparable to that of a police officer. Nonetheless, I do understand what you're saying and the point you were trying to make. I'll definitely be sure to only include edits from sources that have a 'neutral point of view' stance for the article/topic in question. BollywoodEnthusiast (talk) 23:39, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
@BollywoodEnthusiast: At Wikipedia there is a principle, "comment on content not on the contributor". Attempting to troll users with casual psychoanalyses doesn't actually make content discussions go better or faster. As for the actual matter at hand, I didn't say you couldn't use a biased source; a source is allowed to have an opinion, and many sources do. Film critics, for instance, are biased. But Wikipedia should present that opinion in a way that doesn't sound biased. "The film performed poorly at the box office" is neutral. "The film was a miserable disaster" or "the film failed hardcore" is not. "The film did very well commercially" is more neutral than "The film was declared as all-time blockbuster status!" That's the difference. Your adjustment to these ideas are appreciated. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:16, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

User continuously inflating awards article

Hey Cyphoidbomb, this user 132.183.13.51 is continously disrupting by continuously inflating and also adding unsourced awards in the article List of awards and nominations received by Kareena Kapoor, even after continuous explanations and reverts. This has been going on since few weeks now, please block this IP. Priyamal21 (talk) 02:45, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

@Priyamal21: I've semi-protected the article for a month to hopefully encourage the editor to use the talk page. In the future, upon reversion, you might consider opening a conversation on the talk page, a la "In ___ edit I reverted the awards submitted by the user at IP ___. <Insert your rationale here>." The reason why this is important is because it helps to show that you are willing to discuss things as well, which is important in the community editing process, so when an admin comes by to evaluate the issue, you can say "I reverted them and opened a discussion, they refuse to participate, and at this point it's getting disruptive." Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:40, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

Thank you very much. Will definitely keep it in mind & do it in future.😊 Priyamal21 (talk) 06:30, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello Cyphoidbomb, this user Harshedits is constantly adding non sourced information and his own point of view of 'highest paid actresses' in the article Preity Zinta, even after a series of explanations of reversion. Please semi-protect and block this user. Thank you Priyamal21 (talk) 03:37, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

@Priyamal21: Look, Wikipedia is a community editing project. The community, i.e. you and others, are the ones who make the rules. If you happen upon someone who is breaking the rules, you need to contact them, try to educate them, if they fail to respond, you can warn them, and if they fail to respond after warnings, that's when it becomes a matter for admins, who can enforce community standards. Your first resort when you are annoyed with another user should not be to contact admins, it should be to contact the editor and try to discuss the disagreement with them. For that reason, I am not going to do anything in this case until you have exhausted your communication efforts. Sorry. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:32, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

GOOD morning

So yeah, they are back as Yevaraina. The last couple of edits [6] and [7] show the promotion of Jyothika - quite odd that they didn't delete the unsourced entries from the 2000 and 2010's, isn't it, except then they'd have to delete Jyothika's name. From their contributions, lots of edits to their favorite actress and award sections in general. I think mostly their edits have been okay - everyone has something that is their primary interest. GM is indeffed, but that was several years ago, and I know they also used Yogirockrajesh prior to this account. My main concern is them getting back into their bad habits that go them in trouble several years ago - obvious promotional edits, very one-sided editing (see that big delete from the award article) - they're getting some warnings on their talk page. Any thoughts on how to approach this? Ravensfire (talk) 23:06, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

Okay, bit more worried - this edit has a very deceptive edit summary. Would you care to guess who was also nominated for the Best Actress award but didn't win? Bingo. Ravensfire (talk) 23:30, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

Kallara Santhe

@Cyphoidbomb: Dear Cyphoidbomb,

Why is this film (Kallara Santhe) missing a wikipedia page?[1][2] This film features a notable lead and supporting cast and there are notable references online.

Regards, DragoMynaa — Preceding unsigned comment added by DragoMynaa (talkcontribs) 02:10, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

@DragoMynaa: Hi there, firstly, please sign your posts with four tildes, like ~~~~ as this will append a proper signature and time stamp, like you will see at the end of my post. Secondly, at the time Kallara Santhe was converted to a redirect, Bovineboy2008 felt that notability hadn't been properly established. Any article created must at least meet our general notability criteria, which says "If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list. At the time the article was redirected, there were no references in the article. Also, the mere fact that notable actors appear in a film is not a strong reason to create an article as notability is not inherited. We still require that many secondary sources care about the film (or any subject) enough to write in depth about it. You can try to flesh out that article, but a scant two references might not be enough to convince some editors that the article should be kept. I hope my answer helps you. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:04, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

RE: Nicky Jam

What are you talking about I do not understand your edition on the Nicky Jam page, I have been removing the introduction and the references that the user added about the musical genres that dabbled that were not in the paragraph, well what about this. My edition is not bad, I just put his nationality back and now you have to return it to my stable edition. 148.101.32.20 (talk) 05:29, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

I wish I could speak a language clearer than English to you, but I'm not sure what's confusing about "Re:[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nicky_Jam&diff=935857229&oldid=935856361 this], I don't care whether or not you think your changes are more correct than another user's changes, what I do care about is that you keep undoing other users' changes without providing explanations or engaging in discussion on the talk page, which you should be doing if you have a difference of opinion. So, feel free to do so now that the article is protected." Does it make more sense now that I've said it on my talk page? See WP:EW, see WP:BRD. What else do you need to help govern your changes? Also, are you aware that this article has been perpetually been subject to one fan's POV changes? We simply can't tolerate edit-warring at that article anymore and I don't care whether you think your version is more correct than the other version. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:33, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
No, I think that the user Xhubham mishra was the one who added the introduction of the paragraph about his musical genres, the references and took away his nationality at the time of correcting the article maybe I wrote you my comment badly because I do not master my language very well but I am improving little, and speaking of this you could not remove the block and change for pending changes in 1 year. 148.101.32.20 (talk) 05:50, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
I don't care who added what. You need to open a discussion on the talk page and voice whatever objection you have to the addition of genres, blah blah blah. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:53, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

Made in China 2019 move

Recently, the film Made in China (2019 film) was moved to Made in China (2019 Indian film) with the rationale that there's another French film of the same name. However there is no article of the new French film as of now in the en-Wiki as can be see in the DAB page. Was that move justified? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:27, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

@Fylindfotberserk: I'm not an expert in page moves. I know that we typically go with the least amount of disambiguation. It would seem to me that until the French film is deemed notable enough to have its own article, we would probably want to keep the disambiguation as simple as possible, i.e. without the nation. But again, I'm no expert, and that thought might not be consistent with community norms. You might ask at the help desk. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:32, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

@Fylindfotberserk: I semi-protected it for 3 months. Are there any other articles that the user frequents or is this basically it? Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 07:22, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks. The sock master frequented Dardic people, Indo-Scythians, Shina people articles. I've seen some WP:OR added here, which I forgot to check last time. Considering their behviour, I believe they'll bite back. So that'd require PP as well. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:47, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
This IP, this one too. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:56, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

Editor XARyz

Hi – you blocked the above editor for multiple instances of copyright violations regarding articles related to India. The article they were working on before being blocked was List of Sufi songs composed by A. R. Rahman... this morning a brand new editor, AR Rahman123456, popped up and started adding sources to the article that I PRODded, although most of these "sources" consist of nothing more than links to YouTube videos of the songs. Do you think it's worth opening an SPI? Richard3120 (talk) 16:37, 28 January 2020 (UTC)

@Richard3120: Meh, I'll just whack 'em. Thanks for the notification! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:16, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks – I still don't think the article is notable, but the additions may have scuppered the PROD and it'll have to go to AfD... I'll see how it pans out. Richard3120 (talk) 17:22, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
@Richard3120: Socks aren't allowed to edit. I've reverted their edits, but if you want to re-revert, feel free. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:57, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
I know, I only saw your reversions after I'd written the message. I definitely don't see the value in re-reverting... Richard3120 (talk) 18:00, 28 January 2020 (UTC)
They're very insistent, they've come back as an IP... Richard3120 (talk) 11:12, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
@Richard3120: Thanks. I semi'd the article. I've also opened an SPI since I suspect that other user account Nafiszami to potentially be related. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:36, 30 January 2020 (UTC)

Hello Cyphoidbomb

How are you? And would it be alright if I ask you something? Foxnpichu (talk) 20:45, 2 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi Foxnpichu You can ask me anything that pertains to Wikipedia editing. :) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:54, 3 February 2020 (UTC)

Can you look at this page. It looks like one user is using multiple accounts (Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kha tatti kha/Archive). Sid95Q (talk) 16:02, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

@Sid95Q: I've semi-protected that and another article for six months. The socks have been identified and blocked. Thanks for keeping your eyes open. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:33, 25 January 2020 (UTC)

Hi I think Green Gold Animations also needs protection now [9]. Sid95Q (talk) 05:40, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
@Sid95Q: I don't mind there being one or two articles that are attractive to the vandal. It makes it easier to spot them. Recent one has been blocked. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:59, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

New complaints by IPv6 editor about Shaheer Sheikh

Y are u blocking users in Wikipedia page ? May be u haven't watched the SBS segment of Shaheer Sheikh of Hum chale school ,where his birthyear is shown in his school record book which is 1986. Stop making changes and u can check the IMDB page too! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2409:4060:1b:ade4:fb89:58ca:7211:adc6 (talkcontribs) 04:30, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

First: Post new comments at the bottom of a talk page. Secondly, you don't understand what "hatred" is, and I don't care either way about Shaheer Sheikh. What I know is that this source says that he turned 31 in 2014. Doing the math, that would mean he was born in 1983. You are welcome to open a discussion on the article's talk page to challenge that reference, but no, IMDb would not be a suitable alternative, per WP:RS/IMDB or WP:UGC. So if you want to dispute this, you will need to bring a counter-argument stronger than some ridiculous appeal to "hatred" argument, which simply has no teeth here. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:18, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

As you mentioned u don't care about Shaheer bhaiya ,then why are u always busy editing his page .U are contradicting ur own statement by doing this .seems funny. And according to the Bengali page of Wikipedia also his birth year is 1986. Moreover now u have blocked the page from further edits ,like y are u being so overprotective. We can't even update his recent awards and nominations.Seems only u can do it. How can lock the page for other users ? Do u get paid for doing so . Stop blocking multiple users ,as u mentioned u don't even care .then y are u always busy editing . We do care and we will change how can u prevent thousands. Now block me 😂😂,u are best in doing that Tina n dutta (talk) 07:45, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

Seems u check his page every second. Stop doing this. Ouk block me now 😂😂😂. Tina n dutta (talk) 07:46, 7 February 2020 (UTC)

The Hindu

This link says "courtesy of The Hindu". I am having trouble finding The Hindu review of Neethone Vuntanu by Gudipoodi Srihari. Can you kindly help me? Is there an easy way to find archived The Hindu pages? --DragoMynaa (talk)

@DragoMynaa: Thanks for asking for help. I've opened a query here, which will help you understand some of the efforts I took, i.e. going to the Wayback Machine at archive.org to see if I could do some detective work. Unfortunately, I didn't have much luck. Checking their film reviews around that time, I couldn't find anything. Hopefully someone at WT:IN can help, and if not, the second step might be to open a request at the Wikipedia reference desk to see if anyone has access to any archives of either the printed paper or microfilm or something. Hi Cyphoidbomb, could you mind adding source to close the citation needing for a sentence on the lead. 137.97.45.150 (talk) 11:49, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

Arjun Das - Help!

User Amandamarionsequeira is editing based on what the real Arjun Das told the user. This means that the editor is either being paid by Das himself or influenced by him. Can you kindly block this user? i feel that if I warn this user that he/she will continue undoing my edits. There is a film titled Perumaan and why do people keep removing it? -- DragoMynaa — Preceding unsigned comment added by DragoMynaa (talkcontribs) 02:26, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

@DragoMynaa: I'm not sure what the urgency is here, or what the specific problem is. While I do question why Amandamarionsequeira removed this content, they haven't edited that article since 21 January, and I don't see what obvious recurring disruption you think they are making. There is also a bit of a process that you have to go through if you encounter a user who's being disruptive. You really should be contacting them and trying to educate them. If they are unresponsive and don't listen to your notices or adhere to basic editing standards, then we could elevate matters. Wikipedia is a community project and communication is a very important part of that. You have to be willing to spend time talking to other editors. Administrators typically step in as a last resort; they certainly shouldn't be your first resort. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:59, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

Kinjal Gondaliya and Bhaumik Gondaliya

Kinjal Gondaliya and Bhaumik Gondaliya this types of names are added on film's article in peoducer names. Currently I am seeing in Gunjan Saxena and Katamarayudu film articles. Sush150 (talk) 17:50, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

Edit war

Hi. User @Krish990 is edit warring Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke television series since a long time stating Kaveri Priyam and Rithvik Arora also as main leads along with Shaheer Sheikh and Rhea Sharma while they originally play pivotal role/supporting role in the series which is also stated by reliable sources while the sources he uses to prove his point are non reliable ones. Despite discussing in talk page Talk:Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke with reliable sources as a proof for it, he is just editing back again and again, being stubborn in his point itself stating the former two also as lead of the series. Despite him being blocked for some time earlier, it again continues. Can you help in this matter? Noobie anonymous (talk) 14:07, 18 February 2020 (UTC)

Troll rearing its ugly head

Coming from this thread, it seems this article needs to be PPed thanks to IP edits by that banned user here. They have removed sourced content and restored/added/POV pushed unsourced content. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:58, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Kulbir Jhinjer

Hi there, can you please unprotect Kulbir Jhinjer. As i want to make an article for notable singer. I have started the article here.SangrurUser (talk) 02:11, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

@SangrurUser: What notability guidelines are you following for this? So far it's not apparent to me that the subject is notable. And is there a reason you're not going through the AFC process? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:33, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

Hey!

I wanted to thank you for your help. I really appreciate your kindness and I am grateful. Would you like to collaborate on a film article?Krish | Talk 19:13, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

@Krish!: You're welcome! I have full faith in you. As for the collaboration, I am grateful for the offer, but I consider myself more of a gnome (maintainer) than a content generator, but who knows, we'll see! That said, I'm always happy to help out if you need it, so please don't hesitate to ask. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:02, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
I wanted to ask you about this. Also I talked to Krimuk 2.0 but then got shut down, after few promising chats.Krish | Talk 21:08, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
@Krish!: I tend to agree with Krimuk2.0. If Chopra herself was not named, I see the validity of removing the claim. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:20, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
I didn't re-add after that. But how is it possible? Akshay Kumar won a National Award for producing Pad Man too and his company's name is mentioned instead of his own.Krish | Talk 01:26, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
@Krish!: I don't have any specific expertise in this area, but it seems to me that if an award is given to a company, the company is the recipient, not the owner. Thinking broadly, an individual director directs a film. A writer writes it, a DOP performs the cinematography, and a composer writes the score. A company is required to actually put an entire film together. While the company may be owned by an individual, the production is actually the work of many people. What if the company was a publicly traded company like Disney, rather than owned by an individual? If that company won an award, what individual would get to brag? As for the Kumar example, the sources I found in a quick search indicated that the film won for best social film. So unless I'm missing something, I don't see how that would be equivalent. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:29, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
I don't know what to say but I feel like some people are not happy because of my return. I started updating Chopra's article and most of my additions were removed, accusing me of bias. I had given several summaries while editing every edit of mine. This for example violates WP: NPOV as "box office bomb" is not used anywhere in the source. The said editor accuses me of unexplained change of ref even though you can clearly see I had given an explaination. I have observed few other things. The said editor has not added even "flop" in one of the articles he has been editing Chhapaak which has been described as "a big flop" by Box Office India (most reputed BO website accepted on Wikipedia. In fact that film was such a big flop that BOI wrote this. I saw no "Box office bomb" being in the film's article or the actor's article but "box office bomb" has been added in TSIP and Chopra's article. Then there is this which has been part of Chopra's article since a long time, removed in 2018 but as per my observation, the editor uses similar words in his articles citing just one source. Isn't this violation of WP: OWN and WP: I Don't Like? A lot of things were added and removed from Chopra's article without any discussion in July 2018 also. Now, I feel like all my edits will be reverted.Krish | Talk 14:28, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
@Krish!: Well, I gather that you and Krimuk might have a history of some kind based on some of the talk page interaction between you that I saw on their page recently. It's quite possible that they harbour a grudge of some kind, and as someone who was disallowed to edit at Wikipedia for a while, there is an amount of reputation you'll have to rebuild with the community. I don't know if I have any suggestions other than to do your best, be calm, maybe open dicussions with some of your proposed changes in mind and invite them to chat? If it seems like they're going out of their way to throw water on your changes specifically, then maybe that becomes a separate issue. As for the BOI/moneycontrol thing, I don't know anything about moneycontrol.com, but maybe Krimuk has an opinion about it. I don't see that it was a bad call to swap to maybe a more familiar reference that said the same thing, but please note also that BOI has its own problems. A few months back the ICTF community finally realised that BOI includes print and advertising in their budget figures, which isn't done anywhere else on the planet. So they are not infallible. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:40, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
I tried to extend an olive branch yesterday and was shut down. I love his work and his edits. He is exceptional in English language while I am just mediocre. Talking of grudge, well I definitely don't have any. Now coming to edits, I am reluctant to even touch that article or any article now. One of Wikipedia's rule is to be a BOLD editor but now I am scared to touch that or any article in a fear of getting blocked again.Krish | Talk 15:54, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Sajid Nadiadwala

Hello Cyphoidbomb, I hope that you are doing well. If your schedule permits, I was hoping that you might take a look at the Sajid Nadiadwala article, as it contains a number of buzzwords and a less than encyclopedic tone. Kind regards, Yamaguchi先生 (talk) 20:53, 3 March 2020 (UTC)

I'm 100% he's a sockpuppet of User:B.Bhargava Teja, based on his editing style. Since I'm a bit busy at the moment, can you please investigate? I've already opened the SPI page. Ghazipur City railway station

Sir, Ghazipur City railway station needs to be protected. IPs (probably of user Yoyorajsoni) are making disruptive edits, changing "Allahabad" to "Prayagraj" against our WP:COMMONNAME policy. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:22, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

Regarding another vandal

Hi, I need help with this guy https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/104.190.156.127. This user just keeps changing genres at will, even if sourced. The user nearly broken the 3-revert rule too, and how they just never explain and simply change genres at will is just baffling. Most of their contributions are problematic. I have been reverting their edits but the user constantly undoes it again and again. I need help. Telugu movies are their targets. If possible, go ahead with a block. I've been observing this user for months and all I see is unexplained vandalism. (77Survivor (talk) 01:54, 9 March 2020 (UTC))

@77Survivor: Since this is a community project, communication is required. I don't see any efforts by you on their talk page to educate them about community standards. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:12, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Fine I'll do that first. 77Survivor (talk) 02:14, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
