Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, CyncoLA. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:36, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

AfC notification: Draft:Jonathan Jacoby has a new comment
[edit]I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, :
still needs in depth coverage, not just notes about him that accompany his publciations. It should be possible to find them, since he was head of important organizations. (I'm not clear about the nature of his position at NIF, and I left a note there) But this has to be rewritten as an article:
First give the basics: birthdate and place, education, then the list of significant positions, in chronological order, with dates. Indicate any notable accomplishments. Articles he has written and appearances he has made do not make him notable.
The best source for the basic info is a an official CV at the Annenberg school, if there is one. .
The first and essential thing to do is to declare if you have a conflict of interest, as appears probable. See our rules at WP:COI, and WP:PAID, ifthat applies. The article will not be approved until you have made a statement about this on the draft.
Thanks! DGG ( talk ) 06:35, 17 January 2022 (UTC)- I went to see your rules at WP:COI and I do not think it applies for this article since I am not being paid or do I any other relevant affiliation. How and where should I state that for this article to be approved? CyncoLA (talk) 21:45, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
