Admin duties on RfD

As you are a regular on RfD, I would like to know if admin activities on the RfD are well-covered or there is frequently a backlog? Is there a prescribed set of steps you follow for relisting, closing, etc. (apart from the standard admin instructions)? Anything like, all open entries of a particular date have to be relisted together? How can I get started on this? Also, any rules on determining consensus (apart from the official guidelines)? Jay (talk) 14:05, 10 November 2021 (UTC)

@Jay: I usually check the backlog at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion to see which discussions need to be relisted. There's normally no prescribed set of steps as far as I know, apart from those described at WP:RELIST. Closing discussions is much easier on the other hand, since consensus is sometimes easily determined; and I normally leave those that have a confusing consensus for admins to handle. So basically that's it! You just have to let intuition and experience guide you on how to close each discussion, and I honestly have gotten used to it by now. CycloneYoris talk! 22:53, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
And I was surprised you are not an admin! Has that discussion on becoming an admin happened yet? Jay (talk) 04:18, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
@Jay: Haven't thought about it, to be honest! But maybe someday. :) CycloneYoris talk! 11:15, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
Let me know when ready, and I can nominate you. It'll definitely help in closing of RfD discussions. Jay (talk) 12:50, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
@Jay: Thank you! I'll definitely let you know when ready. CycloneYoris talk! 21:22, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) Count me in too. I think you'll make a great admin when you're ready for it. -- Tavix (talk) 23:35, 17 November 2021 (UTC)

So, CY, is it okay if I go ahead and redirect the redirect and close the discussion from the 16th? Thanks! — SpikeToronto 01:37, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
@SpikeToronto: Nope, you have to wait for an uninvolved editor to close it. CycloneYoris talk! 01:47, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
Oh no! I didn't know this! I'll go revert myself. — SpikeToronto 01:52, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
@SpikeToronto: No worries, I went ahead and closed it, since I was practically uninvolved. CycloneYoris talk! 01:55, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
I'm so sorry! I've created a bit of a nightmare for you. I didn't realize that closure required an uninvolved editor (which is intuitively obvious, now that you mention it). Thanks!SpikeToronto 01:57, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
