IABOT

Hi there! IABOT is not working correctly for last 7 days. It doesnt archieve and fill url links. It just make the result "green". Wish it will be solved. Dr.Wiki54 (talk) 07:47, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

You're going to have to provide more information than that for me to be able to help you troubleshoot IABot. Can you please provide examples and more clarity on what you mean by making results "green"?—CYBERPOWER (Around) 15:55, 13 May 2023 (UTC)

Hello. Looks like webcitation is completely dead now, so I assume IABot should replace links to it with links to webarchive. Does IABot already doing this work? If yes, a link on [1] isn't replaced now, what's the reason: a bot will do it in future or it can't do it because http://modfrancelit.ru/ is already dead and bot can't choose one of existing webarchive links to replace the webcitation link? MBH (talk) 04:20, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

The bot already does this work, but if it doesn't replace the URL, it means it probably can't find a Wayback equivalent and will need to manually replaced.—CYBERPOWER (Message) 13:23, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
WaybackMedic also did this. At this point, whatever remains should be done manually. It's actually tricky to get right bots can make mistakes with WebCite because sometimes the snapshot on Wayback is not correct even though it has the right URL, the page content is from a different URL. This was caused by a strange setup at WebCite with frames, which confused the WaybackMachine. -- GreenC 13:49, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
Example of what I'm discussing here.

Thank you for having your bot review requests on WP:CHUS. However, I have one request: can you please have it not mark entries as "done" until the full renaming process is complete? On meta:Special:GlobalRenameProgress for any given username that's being renamed, there will be a "List of local accounts" section below the "Log entries" section if it's still working through the attached accounts on various wikis. Once that "List of local accounts" section is gone, the renaming process is completed. Note that the "Log entries" field will show the rename process as completed even when it's not actually completed yet. I hope that makes sense. Thanks! ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 16:48, 16 May 2023 (UTC)

If you need something to look at during the process so you know what I mean, let me know. We can probably coordinate a time where we can both be online at the same time so you can see the "List of local accounts" section (if that's visible to people who don't have the rename right) If it's not, here's an example screenshot (right) showing what it looks like. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:07, 19 May 2023 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – June 2023

News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2023).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
  • As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.

Technical news

  • Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.

Arbitration

  • The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.

Cyberbot I suggestions

Your bot is really helpful on WP:RPP. Thanks for creating it!

  • Would it be possible to have the bot archive handled requests a bit more quickly?
  • I've noticed that the bot will post "One or more pages in this request appear to already be protected." right before I'm about to respond to a request. Would it be possible to have the bot delay that response for a few minutes? Some requests require additional actions such as logging the protection, user blocks, leaving a CTOPS notice, fixing a page template, etc.
  • If a request is clearly already done and it's been more than perhaps ten minutes, I'd consider having the bot close it out with an "already done" response from Template:RFPP. By "clearly", I mean if the page is protected at the requested level.
  • It might be nice if there was a Template:RFPP response with an icon for bot notes, but this is purely a cosmetic suggestion.

Thanks. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 22:20, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

Please fix deprecated API calls

Hi, your bot calls deprecated "action=query&prop=info&inprop=preload" more than 1,000 times a minute triggering a lot of logspam. Can you please fix it? Ladsgroupoverleg 02:38, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello, Cyberpower678,

I just stumbled upon this page when I was looking at the "What links here" page and found an AFD that fell through the cracks. So, I think I'll be checking this page more often. But a couple of comments. Could you change the page title to "AfDs requiring attention" without the apostrophe and also list the number of relistings each discussion has received? This could be useful information, say, if a discussion has been open for 21 days and only relisted once, then it has probably gotten lost in the system.

I recently found that XFDcloser was having problems with the relisting feature either removing the discussion from the current day's daily log but not posting it to the future log page or relisting discussions to the wrong day, like the day before the correct daily log. But that's an issue with XFDcloser, not Cyberbot. Thanks to you and your bot for all of the helpful work that you do! Liz Read! Talk! 21:08, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

Cyberbot I's behavior on WP:RFPP

Hello, so there is an issue with the bot who is maintaining WP:RFPP and its subpages. But there is a problem. Here, a user requested an edit request, but the bot placed a message in the middle of the report. An anonymous user placed an edit request to a specific page. Then, the requested user relocated the comment, but the bot reverted it. The first requester left a message for the bot to read, but soon after, the bot began to somewhat malfunction, relocating the second report and broke it. And again, and again, and once more, and twice. It also messed around with reports. Eventually, I viewed the problem and reverted it. Courcelles then handled the problem and requested archiving. Finally, the bot spoiled the requests. I would request fixing your bot so that it doesn't malfunction in such situation again, @Cyberpower678? ToadetteEdit (chat)/(logs) 15:03, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

The === is disrupting the section header parsing. I recommend wrapping two of them in <nowiki> tags or using {{=}} in place of =.—CYBERPOWER (Around) 15:26, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
I'm very sorry I broke the RFPP page last night. I would have thought that the pre tags would have rendered the subheader syntax inert like it usually does in most all other cases. I didn't spot the issue until this morning, and since I didn't know how to fix the bot's beef with my request, and that I thought that my request was very simple and wouldn't sit on the page very long, as long as I made it very clear that the bot was interfering with my X to Y statements. While I was correct that it was addressed before long, I see that the archival of it afterwards was problematic, and I apologize. I'll try to remember the = trick if I run into this issue again. Thanks again to you, @Courcelles , and ToadetteEdit's assistance today. I appreciate you all in this and other instances. Zinnober9 (talk) 00:05, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

findarticles.com

The blacklisting of findarticles.com can probably be removed from IABot since the archive on wayback is "back" and no longer has "no-robots" in their index. Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 19:55, 20 August 2023 (UTC)

Kindly revert your last edit on Rajput Mughal marriage alliances

Hey, good morning. Wrongly, I prodded the Rajput Mughal marriage alliances page for deletion, then I immediately undid my edit, but after some time, a robot again prodded for deletion. I didn't prod, and I really want to save the article. Please recommend to me the right way to request or get rid of this mistake because my intentions were to request the deletion of only one page of the Jethwa dynasty and nothing else. Administrators' newsletter – September 2023

News and updates for administrators from the past month (August 2023).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, TFAs will be automatically semi-protected the day before it is on the main page and through the day after.
  • A discussion at WP:VPP about revision deletion and oversight for dead names found that [s]ysops can choose to use revdel if, in their view, it's the right tool for this situation, and they need not default to oversight. But oversight could well be right where there's a particularly high risk to the person. Use your judgment.

Arbitration

  • The SmallCat dispute case has closed. As part of the final decision, editors participating in XfD have been reminded to be careful about forming local consensus which may or may not reflect the broader community consensus. Billy Miller

I edited the Billy Miller page today (9/17/23) with a valid link and information about his death. Why was it removed? Granted, I am anonymous here, I don't have a username with Wikipedia, since I mainly just visit here, but I wanted to contribute, since I was a fan of his. I feel the removal of my edit was completely unfair, since I had made sure that the link and information was valid before posting it. 2601:19A:27F:CE90:7C33:A342:7038:B450 (talk) 18:28, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Cyberpower678, I noticed that some Wikipedia Template Sandboxes aren't automatically cleared by Cyberbot I, more specifically, templates X21 to X71 (X21 to X53 before I expanded the Wikipedia Template Sandbox on 12 December).
