Hiya!
You should read my userpage. I hope you will like some of it. Please note that I do not always agree with everyone who has been quoted on my userpage. The Quixotic Potato (talk) 01:07, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- I have read your userpage, The Quixotic Potato, and find much of it quite worthy and all of it thought provoking, except one or two things I didn't understand. But I stopped thinking of myself as a genius decades ago, so that's OK. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:18, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- I am actually quite curious which one(s) you didn't understand, maybe I can improve my userpage based on that info. I am one of those weird people who finds things that he doesn't understand often the most worthy and thought provoking. The Quixotic Potato (talk) 01:30, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- As I learned on your page, The Quixotic Potato, Randall Munroe said, "How can I trust myself to know the truth about anything?" The same could be said about understanding, don't you think? I might think that I understand one quote completely, but further study might convince me that my initial impression was superficial. Similarly, I might conclude that another quote must certainly have deeper meaning beyond my superficial first impression, but perhaps it is after all, just . . . superficial. So I prefer not to zero in much further than to say that I speak only English, because I am superficial that way. I didn't bother to copy and paste to Google Translate. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:43, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- Yep. The Randall Munroe quote is from this cartoon, I have added a link to the cartoon to my userpage. One of the main advantages of living in a tiny country like mine (I live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands) is that everyone speaks at least two languages. Back when I was in school they tried to teach me six languages, but then I forgot most of what I learned. After I left school I focused on learning computer languages instead of natural languages. It is difficult to explain some of the quotes on my userpage (especially "Do ist der Bahnhof.", which means "There is the trainstation"), because a direct translation only makes sense if you understand the context. Thank you. The Quixotic Potato (talk) 02:05, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- I actually recognized "Bahnhof" as train station because I struggled with German for three years in high school, along with stumbling through a year of Latin after a year of French in junior high school. Some assessment exam had incorrectly predicted that I would be proficient in "foreign" languages but that was not to be. Yes, I know many words and phrases in those languages, plus Spanish, Hebrew and Yiddish as well, but the only one I speak conversationally is American English. Some of it may be due to environment. I suspect that Amsterdam is a more supportive language learning environment than was Detroit half a century ago. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:46, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- Seems likely, we have about 180 nationalities living here. Everyone who goes to school learns Dutch, English, French and German, and some of the schools I (briefly) visited teached ancient Greek and Latin and Russian, Turkish and Spanish as well. My country is about half the size of your biggest Walmart; if you don't pay attention while driving for five minutes you may end up in a different country. The Quixotic Potato (talk) 05:35, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, come on now, The Quixotic Potato. I know that the Netherlands is relatively small, but it is not that small. I went through a phase of "reading up" on tiny nations as an adolescent. Your country is much bigger than Monaco, Andorra, San Marino or even Liechtenstein. If you want to talk small, I live in American Canyon, California, a town so tiny that it only has three Starbucks coffee shops Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:13, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- I have never exaggerated anything in my life ever. Only 20k people in American Canyon? Well, at least my city is bigger than yours (comparisons like this one are the reason the internet has been invented)! I love micronations and I did a lot of research after watching How to Start Your Own Country. The Quixotic Potato (talk) 06:22, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

Solutionary
Jim, just as a clarification (I ran in to this when I originally speedied Solutionary in April) the original Solutionary AfD was for an entirely different article. This one's a repost of the AfD you took part in back in April for the neologism, looks like this is probably a sock account of that article's creator. JamesG5 (talk) 03:24, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

Walshy Fire
Hi Cullen,
I'm working on the Walshy Fire page and would like to thank you for your input on the notability...and this Forbes link http://www.forbes.com/sites/garysuarez/2016/05/31/major-lazer-justin-bieber/#4e67f7c52454
Maybe I should add a line under the Cuba appearance? I could create a sentence that discusses the contribution of the reggae sound to the new (and previous songs) that are directly related to Walshy's involvement in Major Lazer.
Any other suggestions or additions you would would suggest for it to finalize?
Thanks
Amadoriartists (talk) 04:12, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, Amadoriartists. Getting an article approved at AFC (which is an optional process), or having it survive in the encyclopedia, is due to a very great extent on the quality of the references. So, my suggestion is to remove weak references and search for more strong references. Writing from the neutral point of view is also important, and I think that you have learned that. I suggest you read a few Good Articles about musical performers, which can be found at Wikipedia:Good articles/Music. You will have to scroll down a bit to get to articles about performers. You can model your draft on those articles. I am not an AFC reviewer, but I consider Robert McClenon to be a fair minded reviewer. Please engage with him in a collaborative way, and I think that you will get a good result. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:39, 1 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Just a reminder that in just over a week at Wikimania there's going to be a cross-Wiki discussion about the systems of control of new pages. This is a round-table rather than a presentation or a lecture. On the agenda are reforms to the new article reviewing systems and ways to help new users better understand our content policies. If you are going to Italy and would like to take part, please check out the conference schedule, and I look forward to seeing you there. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 18:50, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

The Mancheste United vLiverpool Rivalry page 1992-Present section
Hello Cullen328, Many thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia TheTeahouse. If you look at the history of the page, you will see what I am complaining about. There is no discussion to be had here, unfortunately.Rational debate is simply met with an 'undo' and comments like 'yawn'. But, as I stated in my Talk, the real clincher is 'Dude, what makes UEFA the authority on this'.( As you may or may not know, UEFA governs European football!)
Just to be clear, I am NOT a Liverpool fan, but I have become concerned over the last decade or so, over the self aggrandising of Manchester United, and over these years I have realised it is particular to this club. It works, by the way. A club with 4 major European trophies is the wealthiest brand in world football. More wealthy a brand than 13 trophy Real Madrid,12 trophy Barcelona, AC Milan with 9,Liverpool with 8, Bayern with 7 , Juventus with 6, Inter Milan with 6, Ajax with 6. Obviously the last 25 years has seen a massive overturn of Liverpool in domestic terms, and some of the wealth is because they have been recently more successful in European trophies, but their wealth stems from incredible marketing. And, in my experience United fans have a significant proportion of extremely blinkered views. It is a bit like trying to work with the GOP in Congress I suspect. So my question still remains,'what to do when a source used is completely unreliable- a blog'. By using this source they have managed to make 'major honours' a dispute. But, as I have already stated, under the old system Liverpool lead by one, and under a system where allinternational titles are also included, Liverpool still lead. So, when I and others tried to introduce the sentence 'Liverpool lead in so-called major trophies by 41-39 ( then, before United's FA Cup 2016)it was undone. Then when using FIFA and UEFA figures which also had Liverpool ahead, that was rejected. Then they resorted to 'disputing' Major Trophies, by sourcing Totalsporteck, the aforementioned blog. But, take away this blog- a rambling mess of omissions, false substitutions, (and awful writing), and there is NO dispute. When Koncorde comes in to say there are further reliable sources...there are NOT. I am actually thinking of trying to explain the situation to Newspaper editors. Because at the moment, ikipedia is feeling a little impotent in this matter, bearing in mind the page was under arbitration for months last year, and the 'rulings' have since been ignored. Many thanks, enkayaitch Enkayaitch (talk) 12:16, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, Enkayaitch. You came to the Teahouse asking for advice and I gave you very specific advice: discuss the matter on the article's talk page. Instead of doing so, you have come to my talk page with all these intricate details which are of no interest to me but belong instead at Talk:Liverpool F.C.–Manchester United F.C. rivalry. Please make your case there and do not edit war at the article. That is blockable behavior. Please also assume good faith regarding other editors. If talk page discussion fails, we have various forms of dispute resolution available but talk page discussion always comes first. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:50, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
Schauenburg Castle (Oberkirch)
Hi, thanks for the input on the RfA. Since then, it's been withdrawn but I'd like to explain the mistake on Schauenburg Castle (Oberkirch). I've since fixed the article and the reference was in the wrong location. I added that reference when I was doing a rough translation from the German article and it seems I placed it at the end of the sentence, instead of in the middle; where it was meant to be. I edited the article just then to fix this error and add a bit more info. Hope this clears any misunderstanding. Anarchyte (work | talk) 10:27, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Anarchyte. Did you actually read the 1936 German language source? If not, it does not belong in the article. The redundancy remains, as does garbled prose that must be an artifact of machine translation. Also, another source is a user contributed review to a travel website. That is not a reliable source. I wish you well, but that article still needs work. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:14, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

Tyrone Power
Hi, Jim:
I need some guidance, if possible, on how to add an "In Popular Culture" for Tyrone Power. I understand Wikipedia is fussy about biographies - not only do I know that, I was one of the biggest complainers way back on what was being used! I don't believe I drew on biographical sources for that section but I don't know how to list the popular culture items so they can be acceptable.
There is a work of fiction, in French, out that concerns him called Ty, and also three plays have been published as an anthology where the main character is stated as being named after him. He has been mentioned in several films, including All About Eve, Sunset Boulevard, and Fade to Black. And during Lucy's Hollywood days on I Love Lucy there was a bit with his footprints at Graumann's.
Also I have some statistics on money his filmed earned.
Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks, MariaChandler75 (talk) 23:33, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Chandler75. I am not sure if I am the best person to ask about this, because I am not a big supporter of these "In popular culture" sections. They seem to attract obsessed fans who want to add every shred of trivia to these sections. The unfriendly term for this is "fancruft". It is the quality of the sources and the depth of the connection that matters to me. Has the French work of fiction been reviewed by reliable sources, or is it an obscure, non-notable work? Are the "mentions" in those various films major plot points, or just passing mentions for local color, or to establish that the plot was contemporary to the time of filming? Did he appear in the I Love Lucy episode, or just his footprints? So, my recommendation is to not try to pack the article with trivialities. If you have reliable sources on the film earnings, then that is OK in my opinion. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 00:06, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks so much, what you said is very helpful. The novel is not obscure at all. He is mentioned in the movies, but he is part of the plot in Fade to Black, which is about Orson Welles and how Power was so much bigger in Italy (and still is). So I'll go through and make sure I have the right references, and I won't bother with TV mentions. Thanks again, Maria — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chandler75 (talk • contribs) 03:01, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
Invitation to the Bay Area WikiSalon series, Wednesday, June 29
The last Wednesday evening of every month, wiki enthusiasts gather at Bay Area WikiSalon to collaborate, mingle, and learn about new projects and ideas.
We make sure to allow time for informal conversation and working on articles. Newcomers and experienced wiki users are encouraged to attend. Free Wi-Fi is available so bring your editing devices. We will have beverages and light snacks. We will also have:
- A brief report on Pride edit-a-thon recently held at the San Francisco Publice Library, coordinated by Merrilee:
- What topics might we cover in a follow up?
- Find out more about resources your public library provides to help with editing (hint, it's more than just books!)
- Special announcement (secret for now but come and find out more!)
- Join in on an in person Wikidojo!
- Are you curious how your peers approach writing a Wikipedia article? This exercise, pioneered by Wikipedians Nikola Kalchev and Vassia Atanassova in 2015 and conducted in many places around the world, will help us all - from first-time wiki users to veteran Wikipedians - share ideas, while building an article together. If you have ideas (relating to Bay Area history, ideally) about a new article we could build (stubs and short existing articles are fine), please submit them ahead of time to coordinator Pete Forsyth. (User talk page or email is fine.)
- Announcements and impromptu topics are welcome, too!
Please note: You must register here, and bring a photo ID that matches your registration name. The building policy is strict.

Billingham Bags
Hi Cullen. Thanks for your comments on Billingham Bags. I've made some more changes to the copy to make it more matter of fact about the actual origins of the company and less marketing speak. Apologies if I've not yet provided enough references or external sources, this is my first Wikipedia article. I've been modelling the page on existing pages in the same field, the Domke for example which only has one external reference. All feedback greatly received. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nathenoo (talk • contribs) 07:19, 19 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, Nathenoo. It is not a good idea to model a new article on a very poor quality existing article like Domke which lacks independent sources and is likely to be deleted. Instead, model your article on Good articles about businesses, and summarize what independent, reliable sources say about the company. An essay called Your first article may be helpful. Also can you take part the AfD discussion of The Superior Human? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/The_Superior_Human%3F Fn2gf3431 (talk) 05:33, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, Fn2gf3431. Do you understand what an independent, reliable source is? It is a source with no connection whatsoever with the topic of the article, and a reputation for professional editorial control, fact checking and error correction. None of the sources you have provided is both independent and reliable, and they do not establish the notability of this group. I commented at the AfD debate, as you requested, though you may not like what I said there. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:15, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- None? What's wrong with the source from Marc Bekoff? https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/animal-emotions/201204/the-superior-human-who-do-we-think-we-are
A world leading scientist in the field.. why you dismissed it? Fn2gf3431 (talk) 06:21, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Fn2gf3431. Bekoff is not a professional film critic and a blog post he wrote recommending the film is not sufficient to make the film notable. In this context, he is an activist promoting something he likes. Where are the reviews by professional critics in major newspapers and magazines? Where are the awards at major film festivals? Where is the discussion in books about the history of documentary films written by recognized film historians? Those are the indicators of a notable film. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:30, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- Which wikipedia rules say has to be professional film critics? Plus it's academic work in the form of film. As show in the sources, it is participated, reviewed and promoted by many world leading academics. You may not like the message, but you cannot deny the significance of the work. Good Wikipedians don't put personal view over neutrality Fn2gf3431 (talk) 06:40, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hello again, Fn2gf3431. Please read our notability guideline for films, which says, "The film is widely distributed and has received full-length reviews by two or more nationally known critics." Bekoff is not nationally known as a film critic, and the film was not widely distributed.

Good Wikipedians don't put personal view over neutrality Fn2gf3431 (talk) 06:40, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- I would feel exactly the same if this was a pro meat film. As for being an "academic work", here on Wikipedia, that refers to respected peer-reviewed academic journals or books written by respected academics and published by respected university presses or academic pubishers. Not documentary films. When it comes to notability, we care nothing at all about promotional discussion of any film, or what people involved with any film say about it.
- You have 17 edits here, and I have over 41,000 edits. I have never shown any bias against the animal rights movement or veganism here on Wikipedia. I am completely neutral on the matter. I am very familiar with what kind of sources are acceptable here, and it seems that you are not yet familiar with our standards. It is you that seems to be engaging in a promotional editing pattern. I do not deny that the film is "significant", whatever that means. I have seen no evidence that it is notable, as Wikipedia defines the term. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:04, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- Good, the sentence you quote is 'more nationally known critics' it didn't say 'film critics', the film you want delete is reviewed by more than one international known critics Fn2gf3431 (talk) 07:10, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- Fn2gf3431, in the context of the notability guideline for films, it is crystal clear to all that film critics are being discussed. Please stop pushing your point of view and acting like a Wikilawyer. That never ends well here. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:21, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- I tried to reason with you guys at start, you start lawyering first, showing all inclusion requirements etc. The question is simple, overall, why the film, which involves so many leading academics, is not significant? Fn2gf3431 (talk) 07:25, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- in terms of distribution, free screening of the film on Youtube had 700,000 views, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqT82oGeax0 That's only part of the distribution, there are DVDs etcFn2gf3431 (talk) 08:12, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

I have from December 1971 an article from Dick MacLean's Leisure Guide to Page 25 an article which refers to myself Rod Luttin together with financial backer George Tidball as two founders opening the first Keg n Cleaver in North Vancouver in 1971. I also have the 1972 Prospectus which sets out clearly myself and George Tidball as co-founders. Surely, this is secondary or tertiary as Canaccord Financial (then Canarim) as broker dealers were clearly third party independent fiduciaries that would have had to verify the facts for a public document. You can't get much better than that for an independent verification reference. Thank you for your help in this. I would note The Keg Franchise Information used as a reference for George Tidball founder does not include that fact. As well that is hardly secondary or tertiary, it is primary. Finally, you can also refer to LRJGlobal.com as a reference and BigFont.ca which has LRJ Global on its web site. Once again, thanks for any help and direction in getting this changed. This is my first attempt at editing so I am new to the community. Note (1)
Best regards.
John R (Rod) Luttin.

- Hello John R. Luttin,
- Do you intend to open an account here, or are you planning to contribute as an IP editor?
- Is the Dick MacLean's Leisure Guide source available online? If so, please provide a link. If not, please email me a copy. Canarim is not an independent source in Wikipedia terms as they were involved in certifying the deal. We define "independent" very strictly as sources that have no direct connection whatsoever with the topic. Please explain who LRJGlobal.com and BigFont.ca are in this context. Are you arguing that George Tidball was not a co-founder? If not, simply provide a better source instead of just criticizing the current source. Thank you. Hi Jim,
Thanks for your comments with regards to the two references I was suggesting to be included. I do have a conflict of interest, as Professor Hu is my advisor, therefore as I understand it, I can only make suggestions for his wikipedia page to be improved. In this connection, I was wondering if the inclusion of one or both of the references, I had indicated in my previous post, would help get rid of the two issues listed on his wikipedia page. I was also wondering if his biography could be further updated/improved.
Thanks a lot for your help.

- Hello Adityamedury. Please format that second reference as I suggested and post it on the article talk page, along with suggested changes or corrections and then let me know here. I will edit the article for you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 19:00, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
Hi Jim,
The second reference is included below:
- ^ Hu, Chenming. [http://www.asianscientist.com/2016/01/topnews/hu-cheming-national-medal-tech-innovation/ "Hu Chenming Awarded US National Medal Of Technology & Innovation"], Asian Scientist, 7 January 2016.
The following are a few more things I would like to see included in the biography, if possible:
Dr. Chenming Hu received the National Technology and Innovation Medal from President Obama in the White House in 2016. He has been called the Father of 3D Transistor for developing the FinFET in 1999. He also proposed and demonstrated FDSOI(UTBSOI) in 2000. Intel is the first company to use FinFET in 2011 production calling it the most radical shift in semiconductor technology in over 50 years. By 2015 all top servers, computers, Android and ios phones use FinFET processors.
2011 Asian American Engineer of the Year Award cited his industry-standard transistor model "used in designing IC products with cumulative sales of many hundreds of billions of dollars". 2013 Kaufman Award noted his "tremendous career of creativity and innovation that fueled the past four decades of the semiconductor industry". US Semiconductor Industry Association lauded his research leadership for "advancement of the electronics industry and of our national economy". His many other professional honors include the IEEE Andrew Grove Award for device reliability research and Solid State Circuits Award for the BSIM transistor model, Honorary Doctoral Degree of National Chiao Tung University, SRC Aristotle Award for influential mentoring of many outstanding students and the IEEE EDS Education Award for "distinguished contributions to education and inspiration of students, practicing engineers and future educators". He also received UC Berkeley's highest honor for teaching -- the Berkeley Distinguished Teaching Award.
Please see if you can include this in his biography. Also, will the inclusion of this reference help in removing the issues listed for this wikipedia page.
Thanks

Mind the edit conflict...
With this edit, you accidentally blew away a fellow keep support at an AfD. Your argument was compelling enough that the nominator withdrew, but that could have had a negative effect on an AfD outcome in other circumstances, hence my giving you this heads up. Cheers, Jclemens (talk) 05:45, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- My sincere apologies, Jclemens. I was editing by smart phone and had no idea that trying to resolve an edit conflict would erase your comment. Please forgive me, and I will be much more careful going forward. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:15, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
- No apologies needed, I just wanted to point it out to you. I only noticed it because I looked at the closed AfD going OFF of the Delsort list same day as it went on, otherwise I would never have known. One needn't AGF at all to see that was a simple mistake. Teahouse muddle
Hi Cullen. I'm not sure what happened here, but you seem to have managed to duplicate one question and delete another. As it happens, the latter had been asked twice, and I have moved the second question to the top of the page. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:21, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion and Deletion Log--Still cannot find my original post
Thanks for offering your feedback. As a professor, while I am well aware of infringement of copyright and plagiarism, I'd really like to review my original post because I don't think I did this OTHER than not putting quotes around the mission of the Social Justice Sexuality Project itself. But I may be wrong. I cannot verify this without checking my original post.
Help me out here. How do I locate the text with the Deletion Log. I've tried everything and the search produces no results. Thanks! --sheridanford (talk) 16:25, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hello sheridanford. I am sorry, but articles which have been deleted because of copyright issues cannot be restored and cannot be viewed by anyone except administrators. If you want to discuss the matter further, please go to the talk page of the deleting administrator who left a message on your talk page. Going forward, everything you add must be your own original writing summarizing published reliable sources. Quotations must be brief, clearly indicated as such, and properly referenced. In addition, we do not copy a group's mission statement. It is promotional. That belongs on their website, not here. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 16:34, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hi again, Cullen328: I accept the policy or practice. That's not my concern here. The administrator has not responded to my concerns. The project was a RESEARCH project and it is absolutely fitting to quote the mission of the research project: http://socialjusticesexuality.com/. The problem was a blindspot on the administrator's part in my opinion. While I am editing Wikipedia, I am also interested in the gatekeeping of administrators and trying to gain insights into the process. Quoting the mission of a research project is like quoting the bill of rights. You don't rewrite them IMHO. In any case, I'll let it drop at this point. I will just begin again. --sheridanford (talk) 18:33, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- Although this is an essay rather than a policy or a guideline, I suggest that you read Wikipedia:Avoid mission statements, sheridanford. It reflects the thinking of many experienced editors. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 18:48, 14 July 2016 (UTC)

How to prevent being too advertorial during page creation?
Hello Cullen, I found your profile through TeaHouse. I am new to Wikipedia and I really love to contribute to Wikipedia now. I found there are many pages needed to be created, yet most of the pages in Wikipedia, it must be related to a person, an entity, an organisation etc. When we create a page, what should we do to prevent the page being too advertorial? Thank you.Celestina wang (talk) 06:52, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Celestina wang. This concept is called the neutral point of view here on Wikipedia. A Wikipedia article should dispassionately summarize what the full range of reliable, independent sources say about the topic. There should be no language in Wikipedia's voice that praises or criticizes the topic. The prose style should be dry and unemotional and non-judgemental. Independent experts can be briefly quoted pro and con, but Wikipedia editors should never express their own judgements, but should summarize what independent published sources say. This style of writing comes easy to some editors, but is very difficult for others to master. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:07, 16 July 2016 (UTC)
Is this a source I can cite for wikipedia
Hi I would like to know if this source is ok to use for citing a wikipedia article => http://www.mediasearch.com.au/celebrity/article/misslatinauastralia2015 (Australianblackbelt (talk) 00:38, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
- Welcome to my talk page, Australianblackbelt. That looks like a reprint of a press release to me, and if I am correct, it is not a reliable, independent source. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:33, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
- That's what I thought but then I saw that the writer of the article Carmine Pascuzzi quotes certain people=> Estela Tapia, National Director of Miss Latina Australia 2015 stated, "We have so many gorgeous and talented Latinas in Australia. Over the past few months we have been scouting around Australia for the most beautiful girls who are all deserving in representing Australia.'
Also => Gary Lee, Managing Director of the Pageant said that “Miss Latina Australia 2015 is a great platform to empower intelligent, passionate and talented young girls to make a mark for themselves. Through this contest they will make some amazing networks, connections and life-long friendships.’
I can see that this is content states a copyright warning at the bottom=> Copyright © 2009 Carmine Pascuzzi - All Rights Reserved (Australianblackbelt (talk) 02:41, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
- Those are the kind of standard, promotional, boilerplate quotations that are expected of people promoting such an event. If it is not a straight reprint of a press release, in my opinion it is highly likely to be a superficial rewrite of a press release. I see no evidence of independent reporting there. I am certain that the purpose of this content is to advertise this event, and that is not what Wikipedia is all about. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:47, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

Need help with a neutral tone and way I am communicating the subject matter
Hi Cullen38!
I am new here and am trying to figure out how to communicate. I *think* this is correct.
I do a fair amount of writing but most of it is designed to to persuade.
I am not overly surprised my first try at an entry was declined.
- I could really use some pointers on writing in a neutral tone.
- I am putting in an entry that is actually a description of information derived from the DSM-5 which is a standardized and recognized text from the mental health field. I think I goofed when I said "coined the phrase" as though the informaion was referring to information that was not already established and defined.
-I thought my references were clear but I am guessing I didn't do them correctly or list them properly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mikednjusa (talk) 02:08, 22 July 2016 (UTC)mikednjusa
- Hello, Mikednjusa. It looks to me that the topic of your draft article is a neologism coined by Craig Childress. The only references that discuss the specific concept are three sources written by Childress himself. The first thing that you need to understand is that an acceptable Wikipedia article summarizes what reliable sources which are independent of the topic say about it. Therefore, the sources written by Childress himself are worthless for establishing the notability of the topic, and are of very limited use in writing such an article. Your other sources are other Wikipedia articles (which are never allowed as reliable sources), or diagnostic listings which do not mention the topic at hand. So far, you have not established that the topic is notable.
- As for the neutral point of view, it is a style of writing which simply summarizes the topic without any hint of advocacy or criticism in Wikipedia's voice. At its most basic, it is a very dry and factual way of writing. It describes what the full range of published sources say about the topic, without taking sides in any controversy.
- Your section "Top 15 Things to Know About Attachment-Based Parental Alienation" is completely inappropriate for a neutral encyclopedia article. That's the kind of clickbait headline far too often used by advertising driven websites, and is completely contrary to the Wikipedia style. We never lecture readers about what they should know. We present information neutrally and let the readers decide what they want to know on their own. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:22, 22 July 2016 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi, Mikednjusa. I hope Cullen328 does not object, but I would like to add one more piece of advice. There isn't any area in Wikipedia monitored more closely or regulated more stringently than articles relating to medicine. An article concerning a medical subject, even if you are an expert in the field, is probably not a good place to start. Many new people don't realize it, but there are numerous places to contribute to Wikipedia besides writing new articles. You can add to existing articles, you can monitor recent changes for vandalism, you can copy edit existing articles and more. In my humble opinion, informed by going on 5 years of editing and nearly that long hosting at Teahouse, it pays to row your Wikipedia boat for a while in the calm pond of day to day maintenance tasks until you develop a good grip on notability, verifiability and reliable sources; then paddle out into the rapids of article creation. Just my two pence. Happy editing. If Cullen328 begins to bore you, I am also willing to help (lol). John from Idegon (talk) 07:11, 22 July 2016 (UTC)

Hanging out with my wife and my Boston Terrier, and visiting our sons frequently. Going to art museums and parks on the weekends. Appreciating the beauty of culture and nature. Photographing flowers and works of art and various oddball items for Facebook, Instagram and Wikimedia Commons. Expressing my opinions off-Wikipedia. A very boring life. - Hello, Maheshb218. First of all, because you are an employee, you must complete the mandatory paid editing disclosure. Comply with our guidelines on conflict of interest. Be aware that reviewers will give strict scrutiny to articles about new businesses written by employees because of concerns about Wikipedia being used as an advertising platform. Your references are poorly formatted as bare URLs. Read Referencing for beginners and format them properly. showing author, title, publication, date and so on. All claims likely to be challenged need an online reference. The "Overview" section lacks references. We do not just list several publications that have covered the topic. Instead, we summarize what those sources say, using the sources as inline references. Read a few Good articles about businesses and emulate their style. Your draft is nowhere near ready for the encyclopedia at this time, and needs considerable work. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 17:37, 24 July 2016 (UTC)

- Herr Gruber, I have no idea why you are posting this on my talk page, since I neither charged sockpuppetry against you nor even alluded to it. I do not think that is what is going on. Rather, I think that you have freely chosen in recent days to align yourself with tendentious, disruptive, insulting editors in this matter. In my opinion, some of their mud has inadvertently splattered on you, and I encourage you to step back and hose yourself off. I am neither a pro-gun nor an anti-gun editor, either here or off Wikipedia. I am neutral on the issue. Look at my edit history. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:06, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
- I did, I'm naturally suspicious. But I don't see how commenting after him and trying to prod him back into something resembling the actual topic constitutes being allied to him, you might note from my contribs that I tend to add thoughts a lot and his posts kept getting added after mine so I just replied to them. As I said, I got there because I clicked the wrong link while trying to reply to Felsic on a talk page, and I have no idea who that person is or what his problem is. The actual objection being cited at the top seemed legitimate (image is too far removed from the subject, unclear if it's actually a private seller or an FFL dealer, AGF doesn't seem to fit asserting that any uploader caption is true rather than an honest reflection of what the uploader believes), the fact that someone posting under it is a complete tool shouldn't really have anything to do with anyone else's arguments. Herr Gruber (talk) 06:18, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
- Captions can be edited easily to more neutral language, as I proposed in this matter. Images are not captions, and images are images, not reliable sources. The image is freely and properly licensed. You are the one under scrutiny here, not me, Herr Gruber. If you are not in an alliance with the disruptive IP editor there, then disavow my concerns about that alliance to ArbCom, and conduct yourself accordingly going forward. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:26, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
- I have no problems with the licensing on the image and regard the "is it actually a private sale" point as something that needs to be cleared up because other users who aren't obvious trolls have raised the same concern and it does look like the guy in the picture's noting down serial numbers on a pad under his phone on our right of him. My principle concern, though, is whether it illustrates something useful to the subject, that's what I was trying to get across with those analogies. I'll happily go with consensus if the loss of the IP editors mean things get back to discussing the actual issue rather than "something involving SchroCat I guess." Herr Gruber (talk) 07:04, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
- If the caption does not describe the image as a private sale as I have proposed, then there is no problem with the provenance of the photo. If cleanup at Commons is in order, then that is a matter for Commons, not English Wikipedia. The attack on the image, in my view, is likely the prelude to a concerted attack on a Good article which had major input from editors on all sides of the controversy. That is highly likely to develop into a debacle damaging to many editors, especially since the article is subject to discretionary sanctions. That's my informed opinion, not fact, and is intended to be a friendly "heads up" to you. Sometimes, wise editors let things be, as I have done many times. Take my advice for what it is worth. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 07:23, 26 July 2016 (UTC)
- Well, I certainly have no intention of changing anything else about the article and would argue against any such changes. Also incidentally the reason I thought you were talking about sockpuppetry was that in my experience of moderating sites "take a closer look at this" usually means "get the admin tools out," so seems this was largely a misunderstanding on several levels. :) Herr Gruber (talk) 07:27, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Divisive harrassing templating
For someone who has reverted many editors in a couple of days your templating others is without merit and hypocritical. It is clear you are agenda driven and have come to help your fellow anti gun agenda driven editor. You offer no argument as why it is good for the article and have reverted 2X in less than hour. Remember you reverted many times before and you have exceeded the spirit of 3R if not directly (although you may have considering the topic). Take your advice and quit edit warring. At least come up with some ideas as to why it should be included. Just wanting it there or someone else put it there is not sound. 24.159.206.108 (talk) 08:03, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
- You are 100% wrong, anonymous IP editor. You can search every one of my 42,000 edits here on Wikipedia, and you will find zero edits pushing an anti-gun point of view. I encourage you to search every one of them, since you might actually learn something about building a neutral encyclopedia, as opposed to pushing a point of view. Zero is what you will find. As a matter of fact, I am often criticized quite harshly by my pro gun control friends for being far too friendly to gun rights. You are wrong. I am NEUTRAL in my editing, neutral on the issue, and oppose POV pushers on both sides of the issue.
- If there consensus for removing the image by a range of responsible editors citing policy and guidelines, then the image will be removed. But bullying by IPs, SPAs and throwaway accounts will not accomplish that goal. I guarantee that. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 08:20, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
