Scouting Project

[edit]

--Bduke (Discussion) 09:52, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for inviting me! I have put my name on the list and I look forward to helping out. Cucumber Mike (talk) 11:57, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. I have been in Australia for over 20 years but I was a very active UK Scout and Scout Leader in the 1950s and 1960s. There are few UK Scouting editors so I have been trying to keep an eye on all the UK Scout articles. --Bduke (Discussion) 22:40, 22 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ruislip GA review

[edit]

Thank you for a thorough review. I'll get to work and it should be ready shortly. Harrison49 (talk) 19:49, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Mike, looks like Harrison has made a good start on addressing the review comments. Want to take another look and see what you think? Nikkimaria (talk) 15:08, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for your review. Now that's the first one out the way, good luck with the rest! Harrison49 (talk) 13:14, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bedrock City thanks

[edit]

Thanks for the reply to my question about Bedrock City's Mt. Rockmore. I should have read the WP article. -- Zanimum (talk) 23:48, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

[edit]

Hi Mike. I'm so sorry about the delay, you asked at just the wrong time! I'd be glad to adopt you. I generally run my adoptions as a course, and I've created you a course page. Feel free to treat the adoption however you like, try to ask the most perverse questions you can, or just plod your way through. If there's anything I can do to improve things, let me know. WormTT(talk) 12:08, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wonderful news! I've read the first chapter, and left you a note there. Looking forward to the rest of the programme! - Cucumber Mike (talk) 13:17, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see what you did there

Grace Brothers link. Well played, sir! Dismas|(talk) 14:56, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I watched the first episode. I said I would comment, but I am doing so in private. The show is wonderfully produced. But since my lover was murdered I find these psychosexual murder shows impossible. I will try watching the second episode, but as I mentioned before, shows like Dexter and I don't get along. Your recommendations, however, have been excellent for what I asked, and I have bookmarked tastekid, and think it is a great reference, so thanks. Objectively I do have to say the show is excellently done, although it reminds me of Vermeer crossed with Jack the Ripper. μηδείς (talk) 01:36, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I'm sorry. I can see how that would have made for uncomfortable viewing. I think, though, as far as I recall, that if you stick with it you might find the later episodes easier - the story is much more centred on the relationships between those suspected and accused of the crime rather than the crime's details or the perpetrator's inner feelings. Still, I hope you find something enjoyable to watch. - Cucumber Mike (talk) 15:42, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, yes, I watched the first three episodes in full out of a sense of duty and got hooked. I am in the middle of the last episode of the first season as I type this, and was going to tell you once I finished. μηδείς (talk) 02:27, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So this is Estonian

[edit]

Dear Mike, I appreciate your above-and-beyond help in distinguishing between Estonian vs. Finnish. For some reason this is my first encounter with a text in Estonian, and it made quite an impression. The double ü appeared repeatedly so I settled on that as the discriminating feature. Prior to reading your explanation, I'd always thought Finnish was overall lacking in consonants, so now it seems Estonian is all the more so (though not in Hawaiian's league). As context rules out the minority Finno-Ugric languages, I'm content with the present conclusion. Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 13:15, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I must admit, though, I am really no expert on Finnish and Estonian (I speak a little Swedish, but neither of those two languages), so my information is based solely on the research. If you want a native speaker, you might like to ping User:JIP, the RefDesk's Finn-in-residence. - Cucumber Mike (talk) 15:14, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Signs

[edit]

I know about the Traffic Signs Manual... - Given that it's seemingly OGL I've been transcribing the text on Wikisource: (see -https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Template:UK-Traffic-Signs-Manual-Volumes for links), If you want to help with the remaining volumes of with the images, feel free, as you also seem to know about the working drawings :) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 23:13, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
