You seem to be removing Category:Lists of people by nationality from articles where it would seem to be a valid category. Are you doing this for any specific reason? Delicious carbuncle (talk) 13:29, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

American Hospital in Albania

The material that you thoughtfully moved from List of Hospitals in Albania to create American Hospital in Albania turns out to be a copyright violation. I've tagged it for speedy deletion. I realize you didn't copy the material, but I thought I'd drop you a note so that you would know why if you found the article to have mysteriously disappeared. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 14:09, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Removal of categories

Is there any particular reason for removing the categories without prior discussion or consensus? I have tried to see the "logic" behind the edits you've made, but am unable to so. If I'm missing something, please let me know on my talk page - or at the very least, explain in your edit summaries. I'm sure you realise that removing established information generates much unnecessary work for other editors to have to check & revert each case.

Everyone's time, including your own, would be much employed in making Wikipedia even better than it already is by making constructive edits. Thank you.--Technopat (talk) 07:39, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Greetings Crusoe8181 and thanks for your response explaining your edits. I'm sorry my note to you is so terse - it was meant to be matter-of-fact in tone but re-reading it I see it came out with too much topspin. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 11:27, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Lists of political office-holders by country

I don't understand why you emptied Category:Lists of political office-holders by country. Occasionally you may find a duplicate category that everybody will agree should be merged, but normally you should take it to WP:CFD for discussion. In this case, the category was part of a structure within Category:Lists of people by occupation and nationality and should not be merged to Category:Lists of political office-holders. - Fayenatic (talk) 13:32, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Jesús Jimenez Zamora

Thanks for the backup and redirecting that link to the correct article. I deleted the name from the stamps list based on it being part of an AfD'ed vanity article for some non-notable individual with the same name (and since I don't know much about Costa Rican presidents obviously, much to my chagrin), but I'm glad to know that at least in this case, the person was authentic and they did have an article here. Thanks again. Nate (chatter) 04:24, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Railway stations by country

You have renamed Railway stations in Sri Lanka to List of railway stations in Sri Lanka, which is logical enough at first glance.

But are you going to rename all the other hundred or so Railway stations in XYZ? When these are all List of RS in XYZ they will look less sensible.

My suggestion is to put things back the way that they were.

See Category:Railway stations by country

Welcome and thanks

I am starting to get worried. In the last 2 days you have edited twenty three (23) articles I started recently! But they are all improvements, correcting my slipshod editing. Only problem is, you are going to make me even lazier. Still, keep up the good work - it is really valuable. Thanks, Aymatth2 (talk) 12:54, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Templates

I just changed Template:LGAs and communities of Osun State so that when the page opens the template is collapsed. The viewer clicks on [show] to see the details. Check Osogbo to see the result. I think this works better with templates that could get large. I am wondering if including all the communities in the state will work, or if the template will get much too large. Maybe it would be better to have one template for all the LGAs in the state, and a different template for each LGA that lists communities. Like Template:Communities in the Ejigbo LGA in Osun State. I don't feel strongly at all, but am trying to imagine how it will look when all the LGAs and all the communities are listed. What do you think? Aymatth2 (talk) 02:37, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

There is one effect with navigation templates that I dislike: they create false links. If all the LGAs in Orun State have the template that list LGAs in the state, What links here for one of them will show links from all the others, which is misleading. It makes it hard to find articles that really do refer to the LGA. This is not an argument against using them, but I wonder if there is some way of excluding the false links. I can't find one... Aymatth2 (talk) 12:34, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Surulere

Hi. Why did you move the Surulere article to Surulere,Lagos State? That just doesn't make any sense. Please be so kind and state your reasons for doing that. If the reasons given are not valid and logical, then the move will be reverted. Thank you. Amsaim (talk) 08:40, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Nkpat-Enin, Mkpat-Enin

Here is an odd one. Mkpat-Enin is the name of an LGA. Geonames does not have it, but does have Nkpat-Enin, as do a lot of sites that probably clone from Geonames, including Google maps. They seem to be the same place. Possibly these are spelling variants, but my guess is it is a typo in Geonames. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:20, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Come to think of it, I have no idea how either form could be pronounced. Obviously the spelling is an attempt to render a phoneme that the Latin alphabet was never meant to handle. From your reply, Mkpat seems the correct form. I am reluctant to have Nkpat as a redirect, since it seems wrong. Good luck with Guinea! Aymatth2 (talk) 12:02, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Where oh where is Okohia?

I just started an article on Ikedi Ohakim, governor of Imo State, Nigeria. According to his website, he comes from Okohia in Isiala Mbano LGA, which the post-office map shows as roughly in the center of the state. There was no article on Okohia, but a quick check on Google showed several sources, so I confidently began an entry for Okohia. I found:

  • The article on Ideato South claims Okohia is in that LGA, in the north of the state. This is backed up by an article on Isiekenesi town
  • The Geonames entry shows it in the south-west of the state
  • A search on Bing shows it in the northwest of the state, in Orlu or Ideato North LGA. Google maps seems to agree.
  • A descriptive article on Amumara has it down in the south-east, in Ezinihitte LGA

So I can confidently say that I have no idea where Okohia is. Or maybe there are several places by that name, and the article blends them. Argghhh! Aymatth2 (talk) 20:01, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

Category:Localities in New South Wales

Hi, I see you are trying to elinate Category:Localities in New South Wales by changing localities into towns. Some of these such as Springrange are localities with very low population, and you would not call them towns. So I would argue to keep the category. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:15, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I expect there would be a much greater population than 3. It is something that should be sorted out in the Australia wikiproject, because these sort of category could be used through out Australia. I think there should be some grouping for the smaller population centres, but it does not have to be called locality. "locality" is a good general term however. well done

good stuff on the tassie stuff SatuSuro 15:26, 22 January 2010 (UTC) i noticed doo town was started by a long retired ed - however geosciences has it as an official name at Doo Town TAS Official -43 2 147 57 do you reckon you could do a pushpin for that? SatuSuro 03:30, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks and sigh - you must have uncovered more unreferenced tasmanian stubs than anyone before you - good work, but damned lot to clear up ! SatuSuro 01:58, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Yeah well you are quoting the feds/national/geosciences link to me - http://www.ga.gov.au/place-name/ and I was quoting the 'tassie site - http://www.dpiw.tas.gov.au/inter.nsf/WebPages/JGAY-53N59M?open#GenericTerms - having lived in tassie i wouldnt trust a mainlander with any interp of tassie conditions :) - which is a small problem in itself... - so hey vive la difference - but regardless the lonnie suburb sub cat is a good idea - do it - and wow all that tassie stuff uncovered - great stuff and more power to you - keep up the good work - those pinpush maps are brilliant for showing the location in relation to the problematic regional separation in tassie - would be impossible otherwise -- so thanks SatuSuro 12:24, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

hahah saw you had changed cape sorell - I had a forced merge of the cape sorell waverider bouy some years back - frogmarched into it, must remember to separate it out again sometime - there are probably sufficient refs for it as a stand alone again sometime - funny how things seem to be deadly serious for some eds - and they are never seen again, ever - cheers SatuSuro 13:36, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Dangerous territory

Once you start taking tasmania off railway stopping places thats where I get quite rude. Please do not try the official locality name stuff on that - regardless of geosciences australia, or state nomenlccature body, or even any bloody google earth or what says something exists or not is irrelevent - railway stopping places should not be pruned of Tasmania or whatever - if necessary we go to the OZ noticeboard if you cannot follow the issue. Please do not do that again. cheers - keep up the good work but not on railway locations - it is a widely established practice throughout the australian project and if you do one without any remorse - you have the noticeboard and about 2,000 articles you will have to personally deal with :) (joke) - think again SatuSuro 03:17, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Of course unless you can show me definite proof that every railway stopping place in the whole railway station/stopping place in Australia genuinely fits into a location :) SatuSuro 03:23, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
I am very sorry - I re-read the above and realise now it reads as a threat - I should have been more conciliatory - I would have liked your opinion - surely if the railway stopping place issue is not resolved by talking - I have no idea where you stand on it now - as if in fact you claim it has its tasmania qualifier removed because it is not a 'technical' locality - it really does need you to make a statement one way or the other - rather than go silent on my rather over the top comments above - you have done amazing stuff on the Tasmanian project - do you agree? do you disagree?

I wont bite and I wont take it to the noticeboard if you could state your perspective - also you have said nothing about your using geosciences as a source on tassie and my stating i cannot see suburbs in the tassie website SatuSuro 05:44, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Nigerian LGAs

Hi. Thanks for filling in the remaining Nigerian LGAs. One thing, What was your source for the area and 2006 census data? I am just in the middle of going through them and adding infoboxes and later pushin maps. Any help in expanding them would be appreciated. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 18:32, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Cool. Actually at the moment I've only just laid the foundation by adding pretty empty infoboxes. I did the first few states fully but most do not have the details/coordinates added yet so any help you can give would be great. I did make a map or two see Ukwa West and Ukwa East. However in many cases it seemed that old LGA areas had been split into two etc making it difficult to make map locators of every LGA, besides, I'd have to make over 700 maps! But to get them like Ukwa initially would be a progression for sure. Soon I will be starting articles on all of the main towns. It need to create around 60 for each state to make it viable to split by state for stub sorting. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 00:44, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Pushpin maps for suburbs

Hi. I note you have added pushpin maps on the Category:Suburbs of Bendigo and Category:Suburbs of Ballarat articles. At the resolution offered by the Victoria map I am not sure the pushpin adds a lot to the article. Certainly, we dont seem to add the pushpin maps to articles such as St Albans, Victoria and Parramatta, New South Wales. What we need, of course, is a map of these cities in the article to use as a guide to where the suburb is located in reference to its city. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 06:36, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

Obum!!

Grrrr. Silly mistake, well spotted. Hopefully it will be sorted within 24 hours.. ‡ Himalayan ‡ ΨMonastery 12:18, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

I note that you removed the apostrophe from this article name in January. Given that the correct name for the place includes one, why have you done this? I checked the MOS and could find no policy for not including apostrophes in place names (and I would argue the case about that if there were). Also, I know that US usage is to omit apostrophes in place names (IIRC, there are only 5 places in the US that include an apostrophe, eg Martha's Vinyard) but I fail to see that as any sort of justification for mangling the English language in countries other then the USA. I shall probably reverse this change in a few days unles you can convince me otherwise. - Nick Thorne talk 12:11, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Australian geographic names lists Australian geographic names; Cunninghams Gap is there, Cunningham's Gap isn't- Australia/NZ names now omit the possessive apostrophe in all cases, but retain the omission apostrophe (per the rules of The Committee for Geographic Names in Australasia; these are online somewhere)- some Australian States are now dropping the s from the end as well (I grew up on the banks of Darlot's Creek 38°05′S 141°47′E / 38.083°S 141.783°E / -38.083; 141.783, later Darlots Creek and now Darlot Creek). None of this stops there being many references which include the apostrophe, but, if recent, they are incorrect- I have removed a lot of apostrophes, but have left them in historical references or book titles etc where their use is valid. (Crusoe8181 (talk) 05:10, 30 March 2010 (UTC)).

Just because bureaucracy dictates it does not mean that it should be done. You have ruined the title of [St Johns Wood, Queensland]. It is St John's Wood, not St Johns Wood. Like the one in London. I've lived there all my life, someone in a government department does not know better than me when it comes to the name of the place I live. --EmileVictor (talk) 16:59, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

  • Actually the main thing that bugs me about this is the idea that the bureaucrats can override correct English grammar. I don't care a flying fig for what some ignorant nobody in the public service thinks. I shall continue to replace missing possesive apostrophes as and when I find them. - Nick Thorne talk 05:52, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi there. I notice that you've added Category:Living people to some articles; when you do so, please check that there is not a death date listed in the article first! In this edit last October, you added it (along with Category:Year of birth missing) to an article which clearly stated birth and death dates in the first line.[1] Easy mistake, but just be careful to check in future. Localities in the Shire of Melton

Hi Crusoe8181. All localities in the Shire of Melton lie in the Melbourne statistical district as defined by the ABS. This, combined with the Melton Shire community generally considering themselves part of Melbourne, seems like enough reason to consider them suburbs of Melbourne. This is as opposed to Bacchus Marsh, which most definitely does not see itself as part of greater Melbourne, but as a country town. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 07:06, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Handling PRODs

Hi. Just a note about this edit to Syed Mehboob: once a PROD template has been removed, by anyone, even the page author, for any reason or none, it should not be replaced - see WP:Proposed deletion. The idea is that PROD is for uncontroversial deletions only, so removal of the PROD means it is no longer uncontroversial, and it has to go to AfD. If you see a PROD removed, you can consider AfDing the article yourself, or look through the history to see who PRODded it and let him know - the dePRODder ought to have done that but often doesn't. There is a new "Sticky PROD" for BLPs, which may not be removed unless a source has been added, but this wasn't one of those. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 15:55, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

I came across a bunch more like this. Just so you know, this is a problem for two reasons: (1) the link in the deletion template will try to move the article to the Talk: namespace, which is not where it belongs; and (2) the talk page on which you placed the template now needs to be deleted manually to make room for the real talk page. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 21:52, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Re: Leeton

I would recommend using {{Merge}} for a discussion. I would be more likely having one single article (but I would like a discussion of it on one of the article's talk page) with a summary on the Leeton article and the suburb articles redirecting to the main article (whether it is suburb or area). Also Rural place is the discontinued gazetting but the the NSWGNB still see most of them as suburbs of Leeton. Bidgee (talk) 11:53, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

NSWGNB list them as historical, dead, defunct (Discontinued is a bit of a hint) entities as of 16 April 1993. any refs therein are to suburbs of Leeton etc that are historical, dead, defunct entities- non-existent, even(Crusoe8181 (talk) 13:11, 4 June 2010 (UTC)).
Again read what it states which is Rural place which is Discontinued. Also stop blanking and moving content as we have a process for people who dispute moves which is {{merge}}. Bidgee (talk) 13:23, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Although I am no expert with the notability criteria, I must agree with your proposal to move Narcoota to a section within Eudunda, while leaving a redirect. Removing Cat:Towns in New South Wales

Hi. I note you have started removing the Category:Towns in New South Wales from a bunch of New South Wales town articles. While normally, a article should not appear in a sub-cat and a parent cat, I have always considered the "regional categories" of New South Wales to be an exception. Because the definitions of the regions are so arbitrary, it is quite possible to lose some articles between categories if they are not in the parent category, i.e. Should somewhere like Gundagai be in the Riverina category or the South West Slopes category? A reader looking for Gundagai in the parent cat may not know to look in the Riverina sub cat and miss the article altogether.

It should also be noted that at this stage, the parent cat is hard-coded into the infobox. I am not a big fan of hard coded categories and if this functionality is removed, then all these categories will need to be re-added.

Anyway, this is just my opinion and my reasoning for keeping both parent and sub-cat. Others' views may differ. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 11:22, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Some are, some arent- maybe they should be are rather than arent, if the regions are arbitrary as you say. Prob. equiv to the Vic Mallee etc so will desist Regards (Crusoe8181 (talk) 11:42, 13 June 2010 (UTC)).

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 03:22, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Tas wild sites

I sure hope you have a very good ref or link for that - as the very notion of wilderness is that there arent sites - its a really odd notion - but if the oz heritage dags have given it that, another brick in the wall from the canberra crats who probably have never been out of mainland oz :( - maybe not even melbourne for that matter

In fact if you go the artice Tasmanian Wilderness it uses the term areas - far more relevant SatuSuro 07:13, 19 June 2010 (UTC) Yeah - whatever - the world heritage phrase is not really necessary - hey keep up the good work - good to see you so active - unfortunately real life has me here limited at the moe - cheers SatuSuro 11:58, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Orleans, Vermont

I was about to insert a vandalism warning for Orleans, Vermont. Clearly you ae not a vandal. Where did you get your information about Wal-Mart? Student7 (talk) 15:13, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Ltd

I have declined your speedy deletion of [National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Ltd]], as it was possible to revert to an earlier, less promotional version. I agree that it is still promotional, but not enough so to justify a speedy deletion. In addition to being promotional in tone, the article lacks sources. You may like to PROD it instead. I have also blocked the editor responsible for the recent extremely promotional editing. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:37, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the above, reasonable outcome, article possibly notable if approached properly, Regards (Crusoe8181 (talk) 12:41, 8 July 2010 (UTC)).

Official names

Blackboy Hill - A trap better than a roadside bomb - no one knows it by that name - it is a site on the locality - which has been absorbed into the locality/suburb of Greenmount. Not sure why you even bother - the aka should be around the other way - the commemorative site title (the site is about a hectare I'd guess - while the locality in popular imagination includes the adjacent school and hillside where the camp was. I really think you should revert yourself, also someone could be a lot more productive making sure Australian war memorials are separate from overseas - category wise - that somehting you cvould get your teeth stuck in SatuSuro 08:13, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

As you haver not replied I am about to rename it again - it would be good to actually have a conversation about this - your choice not to - but its going to change again SatuSuro 10:48, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
I was having a think about this one before answering- I changed it to the only official name; I was trying to work out what cats it needs- heritage areas perhaps?? Regards (Crusoe8181 (talk) 10:53, 12 July 2010 (UTC)).

Nah - I happen to be working in the local district museum in my spare time at the mo (in a manner of speaking)  :( - and today saw some of the stuff about it - it is basically a memorial site used once a year at anzac - I reckon that - I could expand the art over time I have a large resource of PD piccies I can find and use - it is basically a memorial - I still go back to my thing about the overseas and local memorials - I reckon it is just a memorial - today I realised it was the locaclity of the formation of batllions that still exist - it has more menaing in one half hectare than a lot of other memorials SatuSuro 11:04, 12 July 2010 (UTC) http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Blackboy_Hill,_Western_Australia is a but a pinprick on what I could eventually upload over time if I get around to it SatuSuro 11:08, 12 July 2010 (UTC) But I keep meaning to upload all the info and piccies I have for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Naval_Museum - but I have little spare time these days - editing dreams are spoilt by lack of time to edit anything - BTW - thanks for responding - cheers SatuSuro 11:12, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

happy with your renaming and edit, makes sense now. I've added one cat- type *military camp* into search box of [2] and you will see there is a bit to be done in the same area, which is on one of my to-do lists. Cheers (Crusoe8181 (talk) 11:22, 12 July 2010 (UTC)).
The category you chose would definitely fit what my milhist friends would agree with - the thousands of Gallipoli dead who trained at Blackboy is massive in count - thanks SatuSuro 11:24, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Hope to eventually massively expand it one day - thanks for ok'ing it - (sometimes it take time for my stuff to make sense I know) - cheers - over and out SatuSuro 11:26, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Entries on lists without articles

Hiya. Congrats on this revert. It bugs me when people don't wp:Write the Article First.

Thought you may wish to consider adding the above link into your edit summary, when making such reverts, like this one?

What do you think? More informative / helpful / friendly to newcomers?

Anyway, bravo again & keep up the good work. Trafford09 (talk) 11:25, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Sandboxes

Hiya. Just dropping by, & noticed your work on your User page.

Of course, it's up to you & nobody else, really, what you put on your User page.

However, I wondered if you'd discovered wp:subpages? They're very useful for preparing articles, in your own space.

So, if you wanted, you could create your own sub-page - say User:Crusoe8181/test subpage XYZ

- and work on an article there, before moving it to a 'live' article.

That way, your main User page always keeps the same information.

Just a thought. Regards, Trafford09 (talk) 13:09, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

The article Ifon Osun has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

duplicate of Orolu

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.  Velela  Velela Talk   22:48, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Australian Convict Sites

Hi. How do we modify the list at Australian National Heritage List to reflect the upgrade (?) of these sites to World Heritage status? Cheers, Mattinbgn (talk) 02:08, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

While I am annoying you, I am not sure the state-based split at {{World Heritage Sites in Australia}} works any more. I think it would be more useful to split the sites by type, i.e Criteria I to X at the World Heritage Site or even just list alphabetically. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 02:18, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Hello- Heritage site has already begun to call them Australian Convict Sites so they should now be combined as has been done for Gondwana Rainforests- that I will leave for you as I dont trust myself with that sort of edit. I will, however, get the coords in shortly. Template probably best just alphabetically: with the individual sites in brackets where there is a group like Australian Convict Sites. Cheers (Crusoe8181 (talk) 03:02, 4 August 2010 (UTC)).

Hi, I see you've changed Woodgate into a disambig. Per WP:FIXDABLINKS, could you clean up these pages that now point to a disambig? Thanks, --JaGatalk 12:50, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Commonwealth National Heritage List

Hi. How does Commonwealth National Heritage List relate to Australian National Heritage List? Cheers, Mattinbgn (talk) 05:53, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Never mind, think I understand now. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 06:13, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. I can't see any similarities at all between the wikipedia article and the newspaper article (other than the term "Armstrong Creek"). I suspect the bot is off on a tangent. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 06:16, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
