Fight The Panda Syndicate

Greetings, I would like to know why the page Fight The Panda Syndicate was deleted today. I made a good-faith effort to bring the page up to standards, fleshed out the contents, and gave the article a more unbiased tone. I provided multiple references from outside media, and added links to the movie and production company webpages, in order to meet the Verifiable requirement. As for whether this "belongs" in an encyclopedia, when you consider that almost every movie in existence has a Wikipedia page, should you really reject the page just because it's for a movie? Thanks, --Defaultuser 02:00, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

I was just wondering why you deleted the Grey's Anatomy music page. It was really useful for me, and it's kind of a bummer that it no longer exists.

Wikipedia Users' Alliance

Dear Friend, the Wikipedia Users’ Alliance has been deleted. I am sure that perhaps you already knew this. I myself just found out. Anyhow during the debate many mean and rude things where said. I am not innocent myself; I too contributed to the unpleasantness. But now Wikipedia Users’ Alliance is dead, gone forever. But we all must move on, for me and my friends, we have to deal with this loss. However it is important that all of us work together to fight vandalism and not argue with one another. There are many things that I want to say, but I know that they would only add to the mean sprit that fills the “air”. As a Buddhist (Risshō Kōsei Kai) I was reading the Holy Dhammapada yesterday. I came across this line, “Holding onto anger is like holding on to a hot coal with the intent to throw it at someone, in the end you are the one who gets burned,” how true! Lets us progress forward. WUA Founder User: King of Nepal has expressed similar views such as these to me via e-mail. His majesty said, “We have to move on, move forward. It is in the best interest of Wikipedia and us all.” I agree and hope that you do to. Thanks. --Greenwood1010 12:39, 23 October 2007 (UTC) Co-founder of the WUA. False charges

Coredesat, the charge which you'd referenced, that Matt57 posted private information about User:Elonka,[1], turned out to absolutely false - she'd advertised her site on her user subpage - just as was the earlier charge of sockpuppetry, as proven by checkuser.[2] Such charges reflect poorly upon, if anyone, the accusers, not the accused. That no one besides Chaser thought to apologize to him reflect very poorly upon all others involved, and upon what passes for the management of this project.Proabivouac 05:53, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

RE/Not Involved in Dispute

You did the summary deletion of the page in question while it was in the middle of review, apparently deleting all of the work we had done on the page in an unrecoverable manner.

We just want to get this issue cleaned up and ended. We want all copyrighted commentary and unauthorized trademark edits we posted to be removed and we request the same standards applied to us be applied to all of the other NMS.

Administrators keep reverting deletions of copyrighted commentary and trademark violations and marking removals of copyrighted material and removals of trademarks as "vandalism".

Dale Hample DRV

Hi Coredesat. I messed up and opened a DRV without discussing the matter first with the AfD closer. The AfD closer subsequently agreed that the AfD should have been closed as delete. To minimize my mess up and save the closer from further unwarranted scrutiny, would you please review Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2007_October_24#Dale_Hample and close it if appropriate. Thanks. -- Jreferee t/c 15:40, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

No problem. I'm fine with a normal 7 day DRV. On a different note, I see you met two of my fans below (Dammit Janet). LOL. Anyway, since the AfD failed to agree that the Articleissues and the original research tags on the article are appropriate, would you consider removing them from the Dammit, Janet! article. Thanks -- Jreferee t/c 14:17, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

DRV

Looks like no one gave you a notice yet, your deletion of Adrian Clarkson is at DRV: [3] --W.marsh 22:07, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

D'OH! I was looking into this matter quite literally some five minutes before you closed it as delete - and only now realised that though I strongly favored the article's keeping, and am a well-established editor by most standards, I didn't think it'd end so soon and never actually put keep into the discussion. So riddle me this - if I had, would it have affected consensus on its own? --Kizor 05:15, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Motivated largely - and one can't put much trust into estimates of motivations from online text, though some users involved are open in this - by varying amounts of dislike/hatred for such articles. Oh well, that's omnipresent in fiction AfDs these days. If making the existence of an additional keep argument clearer would've changed nothing, then there's no reason to pursue the matter further :(. (Mind, if it had, I don't know what I'd have done next - but my improvisation has, on a few occasions, done some fairly interesting things to process in the name of the good of the encyclopedia. :P) Oh, and thanks. I hope to wear the mop with pride. --Kizor 05:34, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm asking this question more so for answers... Why did you feel that this should close as Delete (though you did redirect this article), when given prior precedent and evidence of that prior precedent, winners of a notable show, especially if they are the first to win in that show's history, are notable enough to be included on Wikipedia? Saaphyri Windsor isn't just one of the girls from Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School; she won that show. No different than other reality television show contestants who won the show in which they were on and were given their own article on Wikipedia. The main (probably only) reason that this article was nominated for deletion was because it was brought up in another deletion debate of the same subject matter, which, oddly enough...closed as a Keep...while this one closed as Delete. Flyer22 05:47, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for taking the time to explain your decision on this matter. As I stated on my talk page, I don't agree with your decision to delete this article, and I know that precedent may not be binding in every deletion debate, but I understand your stance, of course. Flyer22 16:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed you just closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PlaneShift (computer game)...you meant to close the entire page or just the first section? Best regards, Tuxide 06:42, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Dammit Janet

Can you explain to me why it is that an article that has zero independent sources that go beyond mentioning the title of the song can be kept? Do you as an admin have no responsibility to evaluate the facts? Otto4711 12:35, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Even if you think it would go to DRV, please do so. Somebody has to make Jreferee understand that there are standards, and they do apply to him and his articles. Perhaps a bit of time in the swamp will accomplish that. Reinforcing bad behaviour does nothing to prevent its reoccurence.Kww 13:03, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Just a note to let you know that this AfD, which you closed, has been taken to DRV. The interested party completely screwed up the DRV request and neglected to inform you of it, but I'm sure that's par for the course. Deor 13:09, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

When closing this Afd, you said "...this closure is not in any way an endorsement of the blatantly incivil behavior shown toward the article creator in this AFD." Relisting AFDs

just a friendly reminder, when you relist AFDs, like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Divaldo Pereira Franco, you should remove them from the original day log when you add them to the new one. In this case, I had to remove the AFD from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2007 October 19. The problem with leaving them in the old day log is they still show up in WP:AFD/Old as AFDs ready to be closed, which makes the backlog seem larger than it is. --W.marsh 21:05, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Recent AfD on Word of God

Hello, You recently (10/19/2007) closed an article for deletion discussion [5] for Word of God. The decision was a clear delete with no redirect. However, the article has been recreated (by User:RucasHost) with a redirect to Bible. Is there any way that you could speedy delete this article and protect the page so that future POV warriors do not try to hijack "Word of God" by directing to the scripture of their choice? Let me know if there is something else I need to do to take care of this. Thanks. — DIEGO talk 05:23, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Yet another DRV

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Boon Software. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review.

Recent AfD on Vanna Bonta

You recently deleted a page on Vanna Bonta http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Vanna_Bonta Thought you should know there are libelous claims on there, specifically that her novel is self-published. Everybody knows who started that myth. Vanna Bonta's novel is not self-published. The publisher is on an earlier book A Janigan and the publishing house that published her novel Flight that pioneered quantum fiction and is a biggie thorn in the side of some science fiction people. It was published by Meridian House and it is not a self-published novel or a vanity press or a POD house. How do I know? I have an earlier book from the same publisher and it lists the publishers names. Black and white since 1989.

Another claim that isn't true FYI is those people's claims that she's just into self-publicity. That is as far off as possible. How do I know? I know someone in the Space community (science journalist Laura Woodmansee) who had to talk Bonta five or six times into agreeing to be interviewed in her book Sex In Space. She will support causes she loves but she is all about promoting ideas and not herself. That is from people who have dealt with her if you can't figure it out by reading her.

I saw those very glaring points. One is a potential legal liability since you seem to have taken action (page deletion). OK so you cover yourself saying "alleged" self-published isn't notable. But you are acting on the fake claims. So there are my two bits for Wikiwise.

Was wondering also how it is that self-published bloggers and science fiction fandom people (mostly all self publish themselves and each other) or MySpace and YouTube personalities who are sekf promoters qualify and a novel and person such as Bonta that got serious reviews does not. Just for Wikiquality this should all be reviewed by a Senior administrator if not already being looked into. I'm not requesting it just an alert. Happy typhoon hunting and happy meteor watching man. 65.19.53.5 09:24, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

List of Jewish-American musicians

I'm rather surprised and astonished that this list was deleted. I am asking you to reconsider your decision to close it as a delete. First, there were strong arguments made in favor of keeping. Second, there is a precedent of keeping lists of xxxx-Americans by profession, and in particular Jewish-Americans (e.g. Jewish-American philosophers). Third, this is not a random or indiscriminate list, but rather a notable, if not crucial, piece of Jewish ethnicity. Music is part of the Jewish-American experience and is intricately tied with Jewish culture. There are centers for Jewish music and musicians, books about the subject, etc. Not just composing music, ant not just Jewish music, but also performing music. Fourth, most of the delete arguments utterly ignored this distinction, and some of them were between POV and racist in denying that a Jewish ethnicity exists, is worth considering, and could somehow be related to music. I am Jewish, and I play music, which I consider part of my ethnicity. It is offensive to be told that this is not a subject worthy of Wikipedia. You obviously closed this after considering the arguments in an active debate, so I won't fault you for upholding your decision. But I would like to mention this to you as a courtesy before I open a deletion review. Thanks Wikidemo 19:01, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Here is my within-Wikipedia reference: Secular Jewish music#Not Jewish in Form. It's clearly a notable, encyclopedic subject, which invalidates most of the arguments made against it.Wikidemo 19:16, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

List of Significant other of Friends

I really must say that I was shocked to discover that this list was deleted. I took a wiki-break for a week and when I came back I found that this article, which is a vital part of many "Friends" articles, was gone. I feel that this deletion occurred much too quickly and should be reconsidered. (It took less than five days.) In my opinion, The article should be temporarily restored so that all decent information can be moved to the appropriate articles. Although most of the information was insignificant, some of the characters played a major part of the Friends series and those characters should either be given their own articles or moved to the article of the person they dated or, in some cases, married. Many major characters like Mike Hannigan (Phoebe's Husband) and Janice (one of the key recurring characters) are now without any reference in all of Wikipedia except for a (see List of Significant other of Friends) which is now useless. This article should not have been deleted like that, it should have been taken apart over a period of about a week and then, after no important information was left and all links were gone, deleted. I see that as a list it is not a valid Wikipedia article, but it should not have been deleted without a chance to move some of the important information. In all honesty, I would have been for the delete, given the time to move the info. I would like to request that you restore the article for about a week so that I, and hopefully a few other Wikipedians, can move the important information elsewhere. Thank you for taking the time to read my request. Johnred32 21:49, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Re: Deletion of Article Julie Hrdlicka

This article was deleted due to Hrdlicka Notability and/or lack of reliable sources. I am wondering what is considered a reliable source since I noted that she was running for a political office and used the political parties website as a reference to prove she was running in the upcoming election. I have noticed on other candidates articles that this is not used and they have less proof then Hrdlicka, so I am baffled as to why her article was removed. Is a political parties website not considered a source written by a reliable third party? Please help me understand what is required as a reliable source? Thanks Lemonyjim 20:40, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Word of God deletion

As it stands this article is a dead end. Surely other relevant articles such as Logos, Scripture or Revelation should be listed here? Andycjp 05:04, 1 November 2007 (UTC) Thanks for your speedy reply. Revelation does seem to me to be neutral as several religions are covered there. Shouldn`t we also bear in mind that most use of this phrase in English does in fact refer to Christianity, so the current position seems to me not neutral but somewhat anti Christian?Andycjp 13:49, 1 November 2007 (UTC) Ok thanks I will do as you suggestAndycjp 00:43, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

about the Russel Timoshenko discussion page

Having no special knowledge or interest about this article's notability one way or the other, I was just confused as to why the Talk page was deleted but the article itself wasn't. I've just never seen this before on Wikipedia. What was the problem with the Discussion page? CyntWorkStuff 20:31, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

OK . . . was unaware that was permissible, anyway . . . I found the page while trying to find some info on another editor, Fodient who in my opinion is pushing NPOV on at least one article I have interest in (Labor Day Carnival).
I cannot help but notice that the line-of-duty shooting of young Officer Timoshenko occurred in the same neighborhood (Crown Heights, Brooklyn) and by members of some of the same ethnic groups (African American) that primarily participate in disputed parade and festival, that editor Fodient keeps labeling as particularly "violent".
Could you offer some guidance on what to do? CyntWorkStuff 04:20, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for closing out Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/One Block and deleting the article. I wonder if I could trouble you to do the linked pages as well (two articles and five redirects) which are part of the same hoax? Kersal Massive Deletion Review

Hi. You commented on the Kersal Massive deletion review (Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 November 1#Kersal Massive). As the version of the article that was deleted had been heavily vandalised with patent nonsense and stuff made up in school (see User:Smurrayinchester/Kersal for the original page at deletion), and hence did not have a fair deletion discussion, I've created a new, reliably sourced, version which explicitly states notability at User:Smurrayinchester/Kersal2. Many thanks, Laïka 20:40, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Black Squirrel Radio

Please undelete Black Squirrel Radio. It is a college radio station at Kent State University and should not have been deleted. There are hundreds of articles on Category:Campus, college, student and university radio stations, and this station has been in existence since I would guess sometime in the 1930s judging from their history at.[6] The user who created the article was really dealt a low blow by having this article deleted. 199.125.109.68 05:23, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

As the creator of this article, I immediately posted justification in the talk page of why this was significant, and noted that I was in process of better organizing the information about this station, its relevance relating to WKSU-FM (WKSU began as a student-run radio station, but evolved into a professionally staffed NPR station, leaving students out of the loop, thus WKSR was created, but due to call letter conflict with WKSR-FM the name was changed; there are numerous newspaper articles I could point to relating to this, and a multi-part audio history of this program. From what I can gather, the program at Kent State University's from which both WKSU-FM and Black Squirrel Radio came was one of the first of its kind in the country.

I am not, and have never been, an employee at Black Squirrel Radio.

EFindlicher 05:40, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

The article was deleted because no reliable secondary sources were presented to substantiate any notability. The Kent State website isn't a secondary source, unfortunately. --Coredesat 05:24, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
It wouldn't matter if you were. Wikipedia allows you to write about your own station if you do it properly. Actually as I recall there is a secondary source in the article, the one that told about the station being renamed. However, you should have given the person who created the article a chance to find sources. A google search shows many hits (24,000). A college radio station that has been on the air for 60 years is automatically notable. Here is a listing from USNEWS.[7] 199.125.109.68 05:43, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
I undeleted the article and will send it to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion so others can look over it. You are free to keep editing the article, but please don't remove the tag. --Coredesat 05:45, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. I might have thrown a monkeywrench into the works by deleting the speedy tag. As far as I could see anyone other than the person who uploaded the article could do that, and once removed it can't be put back, you have to put the article through AFD or PROD instead. The person who put on the speedy tag obviously thought that I was the one who uploaded the article, which I am not, and put it back and accused me of "multiple vandalism" which is just ridiculous. I have done over 500 edits, in over 100 articles, and simply choose not to register a username. Good luck, EFindlicher. 199.125.109.68 05:50, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Wallowing in my RfA: This time it's personal...
My sincere thanks for your support in my request for adminship, which ended with 51 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. Doubtless it was an error to put one of the government-bred race of pigmen in any position of authority, but I hope your confidence in me proves justified. Even a man pure of heart and who says his prayers at night can become a were-boar when the moon is full and sweet. Fortunately, I'm neither a were-pig nor pure of heart so this doesn't appear to be an imminent danger to Wikipedia for the moment. Fortunate as well because were-pig hooves are hell on keyboards and none too dexterous with computer mice. If ever I should offend, act uncivil, misstep, overstep, annoy, violate policy, or attempt to topple the fascist leadership of Wikipedia, please let me know so I can improve my behaviour and/or my aim. I am not an animal; I am an admin. And, of course, if there is any way in which I can help you on Wikipedia, please do not hesitate to ask me. Despite my japes, I am indeed dedicated to protecting and serving Wikipedia to the best of my foppish and impudent abilities. I will strive to be an admirable admin, shiny and cool, reasonable and beatific. Pigmanwhat?/trail 05:33, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Post Scriptum: I believe my collaged graphic at left, which incorporates the WP globe and mop image, falls under the rubric of parody for my purposes here. Or is it satire? Regardless, it's a legitimate and legally protected First Amendment usage under US law. Complaints and allegations that this is an improper "fair use" image will be entertained on my talk page, probably with fruit juice, finger food and exotic coffees.

CESAR ABREU

I'm writing you Because I feel that the deletion of Cesar Abreu is an unfair deletion. Cesar Abreu has made great contribution to the LAtin Community. There are other "MENUDO" members that have had less of a career and are their information is still up on Wikipedia. Before the group he was already a well respected actor in his native Puerto Rico and he served as inspiration to thousands of latino children. The reasons for the deletion were unjust and he should have not been deleted. It offered facts that were important to know as a latino artist. His career spands for over 20 years and he is the only member of Menudo to work in The Metropolitan Opera. I kindly ask you to reconsider this deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Prbnyc (talkcontribs) 16:06, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Nafez Assaily

Many things can rightfully be deleted, but I question why this single Palestinian pacifist, in a town distinguished for its violence, has been wiped off the page. I don't even have a copy. I wrote it because the Hebron page, to which it was linked, has 166,OOO Palestinians (nameless) and 550 Jewish denizens, over a dozen of whom have links to Wiki pages, though their claims to notability are no more than Nafez Assaily's. The whole page is a celebration of the Jewish past, with hardly an inkling of its 1500 years of Arab history, and the Arabs are all but invisible. All of the Jewish people associated with the city are minor figures, but they each have a page. One or two Arabs were named, and if you clicked on the link, you obtained a farcical page on dresswear or something unintelligible, as if to mock the reader. Certainly no wiki pages for them.

I knew of Assaily as an Arab Hebronite because I had heard him in a public lecture in Europe. Since a dozen minor Jewish figures of Hebron have Wiki pages, I created that page, with some research on the net, to give at least some balance. Assaily is notable because he is an Arab pacifist, and a student of one of the founders of Arab pacifism. Are you telling me that you are only notable if you are a Jewish victim of Arab violence (see Hebron for the three year old girl,Shalhevet Pass, understandably memorialized) in Hebron, but not notable if you are a Arab campaigner for Gandhian peace in that city, with a record of lecturing all over Europe?Nishidani 16:23, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

ps.If despite this you rule Assaily must go, I would appreciate your applying similar criteria to all the others on the Hebron page Avraham_Shmulevich, to note but one example, who have equal or inferior claims to notability, and have been there in Wiki, far longer. RegardsNishidani 16:29, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my exposition. The Hebron page generated, under the section 'Notable Figures' twenty odd names of people associated with that city. Most of the Jewish figures were given wiki pages, though several are not notable, in the Wiki sense. I made one page for one Arab resident of that city who is as notable as several of those Jewish residents. He is a Palestinian peace-activist who lectures in Europe, and is a rare disciple of a major initiator of Palestinian pacifism (one expelled from Palestine and now in the USA as a professor). His page was deleted, while comparable pages on Jewish Hebronites remain untouched. The criteria you adduce should be applied to all such figures on that page, or to none at all. As it stands, the Jewish colony there has seized his land, robbed his family, and now a wiki administrator has driven him off the Hebron page by removing him from Wiki and rendering the link to him as one of its notable figures void. Your deletion worries me because, no doubt inadvertently, it works to reinstate a deep disequilibrium on the Hebron page, which I must suppose you were not, understandably, aware of. I would appreciate the courtesy of your allowing it back, at least for a few days, so I can copy it. It had two links to internet sources for his notability, related to his international activities, which I can no longer access because of the deletion. Regards, in the confidence that you will give some consideration to my perplexities Nishidani 22:02, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Just to let yo know you've missed this artcle for deletion when closing the AfD is was on. Nuttah68 18:00, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

CSD confusion on César Abreu

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. An editor, as you may have seen, created an article for Cesar Abreu where he criticized the deletion of a previous article on the subject. Apparently, he posted the same message to you. In searching, there's a César Abreu (note the accent), which you had deleted in March, and a Cesar Abreu which was subsequently speedied in March and recreated (and deleted) today. As the new article was also speedied, it appears to be a non issue - but I wanted to let you know about the duplicate article. Best, ZZ Claims ~ Evidence 18:49, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Drake Circus AfD

Could I ask you to have another look at the AfD for Drake Circus that you've just !voted on, please? It certainly started as a POV fork by an SPA from the shopping centre article, but we've recently just about reached agreement on a rewritten article that I've copied over from my user space (just after you made your comment). I'm not canvassing for you to change your vote, but letting you know of significant new information. The new article is more or less fully referenced; I think the only issue now is its notability. Thanks, Smalljim 23:27, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for reconsidering, and sorry for the trouble. It's my fault for dithering for several hours over whether to copy the rewrite over or not. And of course just minutes before I did, two people decide to look at it - that's called Sod's law here! I suppose I should have guessed that there'd be a flurry of activity on AfD pages just before midnight. Smalljim 00:26, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
