[edit]Hello Christopher Frazier (Make Good). The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Free Methodist Church in Southern California, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Christopher Frazier (Make Good). The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Christopher Frazier (Make Good)|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 21:43, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- We included the mentioned template, but it errored during edit, so I used the COI template instead. The COI should accurately reflect the nature of my relationship to the organization, and if not I'll be happy to edit it.
- While I was definitely aware of the relationship requirements, I couldn't find anyone else willing to help out with gathering all of the history of the organization together for an article, so I took it upon myself as an interested third party that has spent time studying and researching the history of the FMCSC. I AM a Marketing consultant for the organization, but this isn't part of our contracted work - I just hate seeing history being forgotten. If that's still not a good distinction, I'm more than happy to pull the article, though I'd love to get some feedback on how best to request an article with an eye toward getting something actually published.
- Thanks so much for your help! Christopher Frazier (Make Good) (talk) 21:50, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry, I misunderstood the placement of the paid template. I have placed it on my user page and updated it to reflect the relationship of my user account with my company (Make Good) which is the agency of record for the organization represented in the article. I've also left the COI template in the article to avoid any confusion about this. Let me know if that clears things up enough. Christopher Frazier (Make Good) (talk) 22:12, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't notice the template in the draft article, sorry. Thanks for adding a note to your user page! Helpful Raccoon (talk) 23:08, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Notable people who have edited Wikipedia). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of User:Christopher Frazier (Make Good)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:Christopher Frazier (Make Good), requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
- It appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. (See section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion.)
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because I have updated the user page with the paid template to accurately disclose any relationship I may have with organizations for which I may write. In this case, I am working on a page for the Free Methodist Church in Southern California for which I am a paid consultant. However, my activity with their page is purely personal - I'm just well versed in their history. There is no promotional intent in this case. Thanks for your consideration. --Christopher Frazier (Make Good) (talk) 22:26, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- The promotion taking place on your user page is promotion of yourself and the services you offer. AntiDionysius (talk) 22:36, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- I have removed your profile as it is completely promotional. -- Whpq (talk) 22:44, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification and removal! I have updated the content to reflect only my personal areas of interest and removed any external links that aren't helpful for Wikipedia purposes. I left the paid template per the earlier request from Helpful Raccoon. Christopher Frazier (Make Good) (talk) 22:49, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
