Eurospy films

Hello Cavarrone,

I learned you are an connoisseur of Eurospy films when I checked the history of Agent 3S3: Passport to Hell and Agent 3S3, Massacre in the Sun. Well, unfortunately this genre seems to be extinct in France and Italy but there is currently some kind of revival going on. This time the Eurospy films are coming from Sweden. Are you interested in films like Hamilton: In the Interest of the Nation? By the way, has this film been released in Italy? So far I only know it was on TV in France, the other original home country of Eurospy films... Thanks for your attention. NordhornerII (talk)_The man from Nordhorn 08:38, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Sadly it was not yet released in Italy in any format, nor I think it will be released soon. Not surprising, I'm still waiting the release of the two OSS 117 starred by Jean Dujardin that were released almost everywhere... however let me thank you one more time for the great work you are doing! Cavarrone 09:25, 9 July 2013 (UTC)
Unfortunately European filmmakers don't have the incredible amount of money to produce a "blockbuster" and that seems to be enough to make their films already appear as "B-films". I wished there was a little more solidarity in Europe. Well, on the other hand it is great that there is solidarity amoung Wikipedians. I appreciate that. NordhornerII (talk)_The man from Nordhorn 23:34, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

A cup of tea for you!

Thank you for writing so diligently about European films and for your encouraging comments on my modest contributions. _The man from Nordhorn 23:18, 10 July 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Werieth (talk) 21:52, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Seriously, please check your facts and don't be rude by spamming the same template multiple times. NFC enforcement is exempt from 3RR. There is an allowance of 1 image for identification, any beyond that require critical commentary and reliable sources about the image itself. Werieth (talk) 22:10, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

A bowl of strawberries for you!

Thank you for alerting me of the link to a disambiguation page I accidentally created at Heaven (Fits of Gloom song). If you look at source #3 on that page, it says that the song sampled the Queen song "Somebody to Love"; as their version isn't notable by any means, I'd meant to point that link there. Thanks for pointing it out. Launchballer 17:34, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Il Profeta di satana

Hi, this book is released in Italy and in this country is a bestseller. The author met Ramirez in '90 who confessed his life before being called The Night Stalker. You know that Carlo and Franco are not the only authors that met or talked to Ricardo Ramirez, and your colleague Bg19bot should make such advertising Carlo. Wikipedia is not a magazine to serve personal interests I think. I'm not angry but a little disappointed.Your threats also are not very acceptable. If you like it or not, the book exists and we must speak of it on Wikipedia. Thank you anyway and good work Dimaggio — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dimaggio30 (talkcontribs) 20:35, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm Italian, and I doubt that the book is a bestseller in this country. The sources do not support notability. You need to read WP:NBOOKS to understand the criteria of notability for books. I'm moving to nominate the book for deletion. Cavarrone 20:41, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Sad for Wikipedia

I see that you answer as a dictator, I am also Italian and I know what I'm saying. I have no interest in advertising in this book but I think the others persons abusing their authority and this is very sad... Dimaggio

Don't like may page?

Hello if you don't like my page i cancel myself...sorry! vracvrac

  • I "like" the page, but the book does not appear notable enough for a separate article. Some informations could be eventually included in the book author article. Please read WP:NBOOKS, then you are free to share your opinion here. Not every book is notable per Wikipedia criteria. Cavarrone 21:21, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Clint Eastwood

I would like input regarding This edit. I have had a lengthy discussion with the editor, who has been very civil with me but we have yet to reach an agreement

  • As does EXTRA.com: The couple has one daughter together, 16-year-old Morgan. Eastwood, 83, has seven other children from various relationships

These are all very reliable sources. The third is especially concrete — his own daughter confirms that he has eight kids by six women. The quote should be restored, because all evidence indicates that it's the truth. There are no legitimate news reports stating who the mystery 8th child is, but that should not prevent the statement and the quote stating how many children he has from being present in the article. 02:14, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Re: the article Subir Banerjee

First, I was not aware of the AfD, I thought it was a redirect to begin with (even though I now see in the article history that I gad edited in the original article, prior to AfD, in 2008). I agree with the 2011 AfD that, at that time, it was better as a redirect to Pather Panchali. However, now that a film is made based on Subir Banerjee's life (Ganguly, Ruman (29 March 2013). "Parambrata starts shooting for Apur Panchali". The Times of India. Retrieved 7 December 2013.) and that new film's director won the best director's prize for the film ([2]), does that make the person meet notability criteria?--Dwaipayan (talk) 20:58, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

Yasmine Lafitte

Hi, I noticed you have recently contributed to the deletion discussion on the above in which you accused the nominator of targetting articles on foreign (ie non English speaking) individuals. I noticed the discussion as I was seeking background information on the nominator of the Carmel Moore deletion. I would point out that the nominator also nominates English speaking individuals as in this case. It may be more accurate to describe the nominator as someone who inhabits a world where anything that is not American is not significant.Graemp (talk) 11:29, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I think his interest for deleting this kind of subjects is related to this page, some sort of WIKIPEDIA DELETIONS:THE GAME in which he marks every deletion he obtained with the corresponding flag. The objective in (t)his game is accumulating as many national flags as possible, and as you can see he actually still lacks the British flag... About my "accusation", I just quoted what one another editor said in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Teresa Orlowski. Looking at his deletion arguments, there are two different issues, the claimed "PORNBIO failure" and the claimed "GNG failure". About the former, this editor is used to claim that "every award" is not "significant and well-known" and, in cases in which PORNBIO is clearly met, then the subject should be deleted as well (eg see this discussion). It's pretty impossible discussing about PORNBIO on these basis. About the latter, the problem is much more serious. Finnegas has been warned several times about his blatant lack of WP:BEFORE related to subjects who have received a bunch of press coverage in non-English sources, but his response is always that he doesn't consider foreign sources as he does not speak French (or Japanese, or Finnish, or German). I assume he knows very well this kind of conduct is clearly disruptive, evidently the attraction of conquering another flag for his precious game is too much. I am monitoring his/her conduct, he was quite quiet in the past month but now he seems to have taken the same disruptive path as before. If he will continue, he will be surely banned from afd discussions. Cavarrone 12:47, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Hmm, this page is clearly an odd page to create and an odd way to record your deletions. I assume that GNG is largely immaterial given the existence of PORNBIO. I don't know enough about wikipedia to know if he (or anyone else) is actually 'employed' by them to clean up stuff or if he just has a particular interest in getting stuff deleted. I trust wikipedia will move against him if he is creating more problems than he is solving. I'm not a regular contributor to deletion discussions so you are welcome to let me know if and when things are taken further. For my part, I am mainly interested to see how the Carmel Moore discussion plays out before I form a clear opinion of him and the way wikipedia interprets PORNBIO.Graemp (talk) 13:33, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
@Graemp:, nah, Wikipedia does not "employ" anyone to delete stuff, otherwise more competent people would be chosen. Anyone is free to start a deletion discussion if he thinks a subject fails our notability guidelines. About GNG/PORNBIO, the two guidelines are not mutually exclusive, and generally GNG is a stronger evidence of notability than PORNBIO. Cavarrone 14:02, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Really? - It is hard to understand anyone who would want to spend the vast majority of their wikipedia time, trying to delete stuff. You may be right about GNG but for me PORNBIO seems a more clear cut policy and therefore easier to argue one way or the other. BTW, I am holding back my central argument on Carmel Moore until I see more of how the discussion goes. Do you know how much time they allow? Graemp (talk) 14:11, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
One week, then if a clear consensus does not emerge the discussion could be extended by one or two weeks. Do not matter the number of votes, but the strength of arguments (and his arguments actually are quite weak in both the discussions). About the rest, as you said, "it is hard to understand anyone who would want to spend the vast majority of their wikipedia time, trying to delete stuff" and not improving our articles. But, as I pointed above, so many people live Wikipedia not like a collaborative encyclopedia but like a game. Cavarrone 14:26, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi Cav, I note that Finnegas has conceded defeat on Yasmine Lafitte but has not done so on Carmel Moore. It looked as if Carmel's case was going to be won on PORNBIO#1 but someone has just joined the debate arguing for GNG deletion on the grounds that IAFD and BGAFD are unreliable sources. This person is an Administrator and unless he has stepped completely out of his comfort zone, needs to be tackled. I have responded in the best way I can. Perhaps you can add something of relevance?Graemp (talk) 17:24, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, but given our previous discussion above I prefer to stay out of the discussion for now, as you could be accused of WP:CANVASS and my opinion would be invalidated as well. Cavarrone 23:07, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Understand. I withdraw my earlier interest in all future Finnegas things. Graemp (talk) 10:50, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Italian films

Merry CHristmas! Can you add you films to the lists like Italian films of 1972 though? It makes it much better for browsing that way! Thanks!♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:30, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I know you have, but I checked the 1972 list and didn't see the film there! If it was your intention to add soon my apologies! Even if just listing the film there and not filling the tables out is helpful! Sometime I must go through the imdb lists like this by year and flesh out each list like I did to the 50s and 60s a while back!♦ Dr. Blofeld

Thanks for your list expansions! I've just added an imdb direct link to here. Tomorrow I'll go through them all and add the links, should make it easier to add the films then! French films of the 1930s if my first port of call though..♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:09, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Yeah it is hard work adding over a 100 films to a list and filling in but it can all be done gradually. I'm already amazed with how much work you've done as it is ad it's great to see you've been steadily building new articles with nice posters and cast over the past few years. Keep up the grreat work anyway!! I'll fix all of the links to imdb tomorrow.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:53, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Can you add the poster for Maschio latino cercasi? Google image seems to be picking up an alternative name.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:15, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Yeah I guessed it was terrible. Argentina and Spain had the same problem with generic shoddy sex comedies in the 70s!! in fact so did the UK! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:21, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Links are now all in place, just click to retrieve film. IN looking pre 1940, especially silent era is extremely poor, if you could add say 5 films from the top of each imdb list from 1910 onwards this would at least be a start! Post 2000 is also surprisingly underdeveloped and we're only up to 2011! I'll definitely help you out, although France I've been meaning to concentrate most on. Linking the year to the list like Maschio latino cercasi I think it really helpful, I'm can't remember whether you did that or not! Dr. Blofeld 13:51, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

30s Italian cinema really not any good? France produced some wonderful films during that period, Renoir especially. 40s Italian cinema like Bicycle Thieves etc seemed rather good, although I'm sure each era had its good and bad films.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:34, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Have you seen Amarcord? What do you think about that system of linking to the year list where it says 1973?♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:46, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Yeah it was intended more as a what did you think of Amarcord, it would be sort of like asking me if I'd seen Jurassic Park or something LOL. I love Amarcord, batshit insane and crazy at times, but a masterpiece nonetheless. What do you think of Novecento? I saw it a few weeks back and oddly found compelling to watch even at 5 hours 17 minutes! Only after the first 90 minutes and towards the end did I get tired! I thought it was a great film, but could have done with some editing in parts. on the link front, can you let me know who was deleting the links and I'll have a word with them. Please do continue with the links, it makes it much more convenient.♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:32, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

It's definitely worth watching, the De Niro-Depardieu bed scene LOL. Donald Sutherland was really evil in it! I thought it was great, but the ending was like 40-50 minutes when it only needed to be 10. Other that that it didn't seem unnecessarily long throughout but I think it could have been easily cut to 4 hours without affecting the quality. I watched it all in one go, but I'm an experienced film buff who is used to film marathons! Part of my reason for wanting to build these film lists is to broaden my knowledge and open up new films to be aware of. Problem for me is subtitles though and most of the films if I can get hold of them won't be in English and I only understand Spanish at an intermediate level! I'd love to learn Italian fluently sometime...♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:59, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Just added Guida to the 70s in Sex symbol! If you know of any other Italian ones and can cite a source which states it feel free to add more to any decade, female or male. It's heavily US/UK oriented at the moment!♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:52, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

It seems some guideline like WP:BACON AND EGGS WITH PANCAKES AND MAPLE SYRUP is being cited as the reason why it shouldn't be linked which looks like a warped interpretation to me. Common sense would dictate but a lot of editors here are devoid of it unfortunately. It seems linking it in a See also List of Italian films of 1973 is preferred..♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:22, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

It "violates" WP:EGG apparently, even though it says elsewhere that you can link something if it has some useful link purpose. They contradict each other. I really detest editors who go about the website branding WP:xx at everybody as if they're anything other than rules a handful of people invented as a basic guidelines. Certain people on here are really irritating me at the moment, dealing with pettiness and rule merchants mainly. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:39, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Can you do me a favour and upload the film poster for Ashes and Diamonds (film)?♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:13, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

Giovanni Fontana

Hi, this draft article about Italian poet Giovanni Fontana is about to be deleted as the cites are not properly formatted and it has not been improved for over six months. His body of work seems significant. There is an Italian WP article on him. He has won major national prizes and therefore, for this reason alone, would meet the keep criteria, if they were properly sourced. There is some literary coverage of his work. There is a notable architect and a viola player of the same name. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Span (talk) 14:50, 9 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for creating the stub. I think it's fine to add the works listing in. Span (talk) 13:10, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
Feel free to add them. I avoided to do it just because the most important works were already included in the text of the biography. Cavarrone 15:17, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi, can you upload [3] and get rid of the photo? For some reason I can't save photos online at the moment, the whirl thing on firefox comes up.♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:06, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

All are not experts

All people are not experts. We learn from our mistakes. So if I add a delete tag that doesn't mean that you as an expert and experienced Wikipedian should add a "Nonsense" word while reverting it rather than informing me my mistakes. This behavior is really uncalled. --Jnanaranjan Sahu (ଜ୍ଞାନ) talk 10:13, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

@Jnanaranjan sahu: If you refrained from placing speedy deletion tags on articles which are clearly encyclopedic and not candidates then you wouldn't be treated like an idiot. These articles have long been requested on here and are linked in numerous missing lists. To start them and then see somebody trying to delete it within minutes, that is uncalled for. Obviously you're intelligent with your computer degree, so act like it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:25, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

Well I understand everything and already apologized for that. I appreciate your help regarding my edits and kind words. Nobody is perfect and yes I'll never treat you as an idiot if you just make a single mistake. Thank you and I think I may need your help in future regarding Wikipedia edits. --Jnanaranjan Sahu (ଜ୍ଞାନ) talk 10:47, 28 February 2014 (UTC)

  • Lucky man! I've never seen any of his Westerns. I had no idea the film was shot in Algeria!

For your enormous contribution to Italian cinema. I've already wondered if you created all Italian cinema-related articles in Wikipedia... lol... You don't stop, man! Your work is very appreciated! Gabriel Yuji (talk) 03:09, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

I've begun expanding this. It would be great if you could help me on it and find some Italian language newspaper reviews and details etc, or access the biographies on her. I think it's a worthy one, I'm going to bring it up to GA status.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:46, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Ah OK. Yikes that's a beast of an article on Italian wiki. I may need help translating and proofing that one!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:03, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Probably best I do the translation in stage. Can you check the early life and the first part of 1950s in the Claudia Cardinale article checking against User:Dr. Blofeld/Claudia Cardinale. Shouldn't take long just a quick scan to see I've done the translation OK and haven't missed anything important.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:44, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Cheers, thanks. I think I'll lay the bones out for the 70s and 80s next and then continue with 1959 and the 1960s translation. One thing though can you double check the quote which Cardinale says about feel trapped by the "plan" drawn up for her life, I had to remove a few words, I'm not sure it's translated exactly which it ought to be as a quote.

"non ero più padrona né del mio corpo né dei miei pensieri. Persino a un'amica era rischioso raccontare qualcosa che prendesse le distanze dalla mia immagine pubblica, perché poteva essere divulgato, mettendomi nei guai. Tutto era in mano alla Vides" ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:40, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Second one looks right. Thanks. I knew there was something slightly different about it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:35, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Marcello Mastroianni is a shocker of an article in terms of coverage!! Considering that he's one of the most-high profile Italian actors in cinematic history!! Would you be interested in expanding it with me sometime? If you have biographies etc this would be great!! Anyway, Cardinale to GA first.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:48, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Nino Manfredi is even worse, that's a real shocker!! Maybe that one then would be priority. Thanks for uploading those images! I have a feeling though that the commons will try to delete them on grounds that they qualify as artwork (from a film) which has to be 70 years though.♦ Dr. Blofeld 07:51, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Really?? I uploaded a lot of images of GBU and the Dollars films a while back and they all got deleted. I'm guessing it was because they were United Artists screenshots. Is there a way around that? I'd love to get Leone's films up to GA status sometime.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:22, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Was a long time ago in wiki history really, maybe 2009 or 2010 or something. All I know is that I uploaded a lot of good images to the commons or on here from Italian wikipedia under the same license and somebody deleted them all claiming something "just because they're PD in Italy doesn't mean they are in the US too", that's pretty much why I haven't uploaded any for Italian cinema aside from fair use posters since.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:15, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Yeah it seemed a difficult one. I get what he's trying to say, I'll partly paraphrase it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:31, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you again. Can't make sense of this either. I gather it's something about her being a feminine ideal or falling in love with Cardinale.

♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:53, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

Nice one. I've uploaded this, but it might be the wrong license. Can you take care of it? Will continue on the article tomorrow.♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:16, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

See, File:Claudia Cardinale pose.jpg is already up for deletion. Can you save it? I simply copied the license which was on the previous Cardinale image. Perhaps the Italian one would stick?♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:40, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Perhaps [4] could be uploaded to replace the current signed one. Although the details for that didn't look great either.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:00, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

A brownie for you!

Forbidden Forest

Hi. I've restored the notability tag to Forbidden Forest (film). I believe you were in error in removing it. The page has at best one reliable source, this Dominion website, which is some kind of "reader-funded and member-run" grassroots media coop. Fair enough, but as you know notability requires multiple WP:RS. Nor does it seem to meet any of the other criteria at WP:NOTFILM. I'm not going to nominate it for deletion, but I can't see how this page can be said to have clearly established notability -- and I've made a concerted and unsuccessful attempt to find more reliable sources. purtroppo ho poco tempo per dedicarmi al progetto, comunque ho inserito tutte le fonti, da te segnalate nelle discussioni di quell'utente cancellatore, in Buccellati e Morellato Group: se vuoi, puoi riordinarle e integrarle nei relativi articoli, che sono solo abbozzati quindi da sviluppare.

Barnaul Cartridge Plant

What constitutes "blatant copyvio"? Why did you erase ~4300 bytes of text from Barnaul Cartridge Plant? At least you could leave the "History" section and write a short one-sentence paraphrase of the history of the Barnaul plant without just erase the whole thing. Do you think that is a good way to edit an article -- erasing entire sections without doing anything else? I'm not a troll. I'm asking legit questions. Petesimon2 (talk) 23:04, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

Hello, about this diff. You are probably right and the ones who get confused (see TP and p. hist. like I said) can XXXXX. Indeed why be helpful and try to distinguish when those two persons are not even the same? They just have the same supercommon surname (I have 22 friends named Haze) in the same field during the same years. You are probably right, nothing in common that I can see, totally different. Even wonder why two people put that hatnote there. Keep up the good work.--36.55.207.203 (talk) 08:55, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
