Articles for creation: Gurdarshan Mangat not accepted

Hi CASSIOPEIA. Is it just that the subject needs 3 UFC fights that has stopped this from being accepted? or wider issues? This does not seem to be a problem for many other MMA fighters on wikipedia. If it is related to references, I tried to avoid using any links to articles on onef.com/the organization's youtube/facebook pages (there are plenty of videos on there, some with hundreds of thousands of views), but can do so if that would help Any advice would be gratefully received. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theresmolimit (talkcontribs) 11:30, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Neomy Storch

Hi,

I'm not sure how to site to a source that isn't a URL. The information was published in Dr. Storch's Phd in 2001. A PDF of the doctorate can be found here - https://minerva-access.unimelb.edu.au/handle/11343/38809.

Dr. Storch wrote in the Acknowledgements section that she was a husband and two sons. The thesis was also dedicated to her late father. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.218.32.172 (talk) 03:49, November 8, 2019 (UTC)

Abbas1122 Good day. I believe you disappointed that I move your back article Draft:Pain, Pus and Poison: The Search for Modern Medicines to draft space. There are two sources provided, one of them is from BBC home page which is not WP:IS (not independent as the documentary was air on BBC channel) and the other is from IMBD which is not a WP:RS (reliable) sites. As stated in the message in your talk page you need to provide at leas 3 independent, reliable sources where by the sources talk directly about the subject and not merely passing mentioned to verify the content claimed. Please read WP:Your First Article and WP:42 for further information regarding notability requirements and how to write an article in Wikipedia. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:37, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

Julian Erosa UFC win-loss record

Good day, Cassipeia! Thanks for making me realize my mistake about the 1-3 record Juicy J had on UFC. Actually, it's 1-4. He was 1-1 on his first stint and then, when resigned, he suffered his 3 straight fight losses. Anything you need, we are here to collaborte! :) Dimitar Malamov (talk) 19:23, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

DFMalamov Hi greetings. It has been restored at 1-3 for some days already. Thanks for informing. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:11, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

Just getting in touch re. recent deletion under "speedy deletion" of my Glasgow Life.

Could I request you send over the original markup as it was before deletion please, and place it somewhere I can access.

I also wish to strongly contest the basis for deletion. The reason you gave was "unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic". Whilst I'd accept some rewriting may well have been required, I contest it was "unambiguous advertising", not least I have no involvement with the organisation and no wish to promote it. I'm simply a resident of Glasgow, who was perplexed there was no information on wikipedia in relation to it.

By way of explanation/justification for the article, Glasgow Life is a distinct body from Glasgow City Council. It controls a huge budget, with a big impact on the lives of us living in Glasgow. It is one of the largest operators of facilities in the UK. It is poorly understood both organisationally, and what it does, and I felt it merited the article.

There are already existing articles for facilities/organisations of a comparable sort, which include:

I hope that goes some way to outlining both the basis, and comparable organisations that already have pieces on Wikipedia.

With thanks for your time,

Rleyton (talk) 09:49, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Rleyton Welcome. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:32, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
Still pending a response from admin, but discovered a version of my article in a suspended tab that is mostly there. Version is in my sandbox. I've also collated further info on User_talk:Rleyton I intend to incorporate when I have the original restored. Anyway, would appreciate comments as to what needs fixing/removing/improving in my sandbox Rleyton (talk) 18:55, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
I have restored to User:Rleyton/Glasgow Life with the recommendation to find more third party sources. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:27, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

Just on the off-chance, I've finished a reworked draft (in my sandbox this time), and submitted it for review User:Rleyton/Glasgow_Life#Glasgow_Life Rleyton (talk) 19:48, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
Rleyton I have reviewed the page and removed all the deem promotional sections/texts. Your article has 2 issues - one is promotional material/texts and second is lack of independent, reliable sources. Do note Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inclusion of company officers, budget, details of services and etc are for a company/organisation brochure/newsletter which is deemed promotion. The content should be those source that is independent from the subject and the source need to be reliable. Any sources associated/affiliated with the subject is considered not independent. Relaible source are those from reputable published agency such as from major newspaper. The article should be what other talk about the subject. In short, we need significant coverage (3-5 sources) of independent, reliable published sources (such as from major newspapers) where by the sources talk indirect about the subject in depth and in length and not passing mentioned. Here we have only one independent, reliable from BBC. We need at least two more at the current stage. By the way, do you work with the organisation? or in anywhere related to them ? Let me know if anything I could help. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:59, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

May I be a student in Counter Vandalism Unit?

I have to get rollback rights for using Huggle, but first, I have to go to CVUA for handling vandalism. Cheers! CentralTime301 19:03, 10 November 2019 (UTC)

CentralTime301, Good day. I have a look at your user page and you state "Even though I am an experienced user, I do not want to be an administrator on the English Wikipedia, because I may abuse admin tools and either remove my admin rights or be indefinitely blocked. Would you please explain to me what kind of abuse you might carry out? Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 05:30, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
Since you told me about that even though I am experienced but does not want to be an admin, the reason why is because I might protect pages and block users when they don't tell me so. Cheers! CentralTime301 11:30, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
CentralTime301, If an editor does not make any vandalism edit or the page does not meet the criteria to be protected, even if you are not admin, it would be inappropriate to report of such incident to WP:AIV. The motto of counter vandalism unit academy is civility-maturity-responsibility. Your thought of the above would be not suitable to be in the program for that would go against the maturity and responsibility of a vandal fighter.11:37, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

Martin Nguyen/ONE Championship

"Subject fails WP:MMABIO notability for he has not fought in any top tier promotion. Subject needs to have at least 3 fights to pass the notability guidelines. One Championships is not a top tier promoter." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Martin_Nguyen

I'm just looking for clarification on why ONE Championship is not considered a "top tier promoter" in the eyes of Wikipedia. And for criteria going forward. ONE Championship is not only an equivalent, but a larger promotion on a global scale than what Strikeforce was (which has/had a page and its fighters were included) as well as current active organizations such as Bellator and Invicta FC. Both of which meet criteria of notability.

I'm just trying to figure out the distinction between them and ONE Championship as ONE is bigger on a worldwide scale than either of those yet does not get the inclusion (especially Invicta which is minuscule by comparison). I began with Martin Nguyen as he has a place in organization and MMA history with multi-division title wins, but also because he is included on other Wikipedia pages such as the Italian Wiki (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Nguyen).

If I can understand why ONE Championship is being excluded on this basis when smaller organizations are being included, it will help with future submissions.

I appreciate your work and just attempting to get clarification for moving forward with future edits for ONE Championship fighters.

Sources which is associated/affiliated/marketing/interview/home page/user generated sites are considered not not reliable or independent and can not be used to support the notability claimed. Hi there, I have just improved this article after you declined it in May and November 2019, based on previous contributions by other users. I have added sources and formatting, and it is a fine film article now. There is no reason such as no notability anymore as there are reports by local news. Hope the article stays, it is a film that will be screened nationwide in Malaysia. Can't compare the film to English-language film articles who receive widespread coverage. Notability reasons such as lack of film reviews or box office can't work, because the film is not yet screened. Thank you ;) LoveFromBJM (talk) 14:12, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

LoveFromBJM Greetings and pls see comment at draft page. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 14:26, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
Hi, noted, but i just don't get it, why you guys need to make things so trouble and frustrated like this? It seems like the only purpose of these drafts or declines is to prevent any article from being created by citing any reasons. First this, then the next, endless reasons to keep the article away (asking in a polite way) Is there a chance that it will be published when box office or more sources added? Astro is not sponsoring them, just reporting news in press manner, other film articles cite these kinds too. Movie articles don't always need to be aired to be at here, right? and it got sources. Thank you, LoveFromBJM (talk) 15:12, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
LoveFromBJM For a page to be accepted in Wikipedia main space, the subject need to be notable and the content claimed need to support by significant coverage of published independent, relable sources whereby the sources talk about the subject in lenght and in dept and not passing mentioned. Sources such as from newspaper and books are good source. Pls see WP:42. Once you have sources from newspaper (sources can be in any languages), reviews and resubmit. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 15:20, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
Malaysian films typically do not have reviews published by newspapers or reviewers. So any suggestions on that? If I add more independent sources reporting only, will it be accepted? can't compare the style to English film articles though LoveFromBJM (talk) 15:27, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
LoveFromBJM if you would find that (at least 3), then add them in and we will review it. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 15:34, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
Some sources has been added, and fandom website source has been removed. And I would like to explain these listed sources:
1) Bernama News, reliable local news, you can check it
2) Astro Ulaagam: Astro Ulaagam news is considered independent new source under Astro, merely reporting on the news of the film, like CinemaBlend, Deadline which always has these kinds of news and are cited in articles. Plus: Astro is not the TV Network of this film, Astro Ulaagam always reports on local Tamil films to help the films, it writes in non-demanding favor, unlike other fandom or taboo website.
3) Anegun News, local independent newspaper, in Tamil
4) Malaysia Gazette, local independent new and critic website, in Malay

-all the sources listed are written well, in reporting manner. You can read the source articles. This is surely enough, if it is published, i will add on box office coverage as Malaysia will reports on this and add more in future. Thank you LoveFromBJM (talk) 16:06, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
LoveFromBJM I have reviewed it once and will let other reviewer to work on this draft. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:16, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
You mean you will pass the draft to other reviewers? Will you notify them? If not; it's okay, noted, thanks LoveFromBJM (talk) 04:44, 13 November 2019 (UTC)
LoveFromBJM No need to notify as one of the reviewers will review it when they com across it. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:51, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi there, I would like to report the user NEDOCHAN for persistent edit-warring and bad faith per below:

  1. User keeps removing NPOV info for no good reason (WP:IDONTLIKEIT, "not relevant" etc). Even after I reworded the sentence to remove any ambiguity/UNDUE and quoted the subject himself per your suggestion, user continues to delete it (It is a fact that Adesanya moved to New Zealand to get i) better education ii) which he later found to be not the case. According to user its fair to mention i, but not ii. This is clearly in violation of WP:NPOV as Adesanya stated the same thing on JRE this week.
  2. User keeps talking in circles, and keeps bringing up concerns that have been already addressed before (1, 2, 3).
  3. User keeps misrepresenting his unjustified removal as a "compromise" when a) that is exactly what he did in his original edit which he himself admitted to here) and b) he has already been made aware that NPOV is "non-negotiable" and cannot be "compromised" on.
  4. User just created a 3rd discussion thread to further convolute discussion, as if 2 threads weren't enough.
  5. User continues to obstruct and demonstrate bad faith, and this has been going on for over a month now. Please advise. --Retrofan781 (talk) 09:13, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

New article about Norwegian artist -Draft:Ross Kolby

Dear CASSIOPEIA,

In Febuary I tried to write and publish an article about a Norwegian artist. It got refused twice and I gave up. Now I have tried again.

It is in the Sandbox and is about the artist Ross Kolby. What is the next step now? I was told last time that my subject is notabile and worthy an article. So far so good. I have now tried to make the article as neutral, good and in accordance with the Wikipedia rules as I can.

Could you please skim through it? I don't know how to proceed now. Best regards, Constituto Constituto (talk) 17:23, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Constituto Greetings. Comments have been made in Draft:Ross Kolby. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 17:31, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
Hi, and thank you for your quick answer. I have rewritten the whole article. I now have a new text without all the old links out in the Sandbox, and with two new photos from Commons. It is this new article that I would like to have read. How may I have someone to rad this new article? Best, Constituto.

Constituto (talk) 17:37, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Constituto As mentioned in the draft, you need to first read WP:Your First Article, once you have done that and still help, the pop back here. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 18:02, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

I don't have an understanding of how the review process works when resubmitted so I apologise in an advance if I am wrong. Are you able to review the article and if you are not able to accept or decline please provide feedback on the sources and notability. Wowletmebe (talk) 17:40, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

Wowletmebe Greetings. I have left comments on the draft page. Have a look and click on the link provided. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:04, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
Hello you have made a mistake Egbunike meets criterion #2 of WP:NBOX he has a British Boxing Board of Control title that is listed and meets the requirements please recheck this and update. Wowletmebe (talk) 10:43, 16 November 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your help. I will leave the article as is please add (boxer) tag to the title of the article please as I do not know how to do this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wowletmebe (talkcontribs) 11:26, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
Wowletmebe I think you meant the category tag. I have added a few and removed the tag. Thanks for the contribution. Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 11:52, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for your help. Just to ensure we're on the same page for example if I go to Anthony Joshua's article the title reads "Anthony Joshua (boxer)" or any other boxer listed here whereas this article just reads "Daniel Egbunike" Wowletmebe (talk) 11:57, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
Wowletmebe Hi,
  1. first of all, pls add an additonal " : " (colon) from the previous message for one indentation to the right as this is the normal protocal in Wikipedia talk page communication so separate the messages in a message thread. For example this message of mine have 9 x :, so when you reply you just add on more from mine = 10 x :.
  2. As for the article Anthony Joshua, the title of the article has no (boxer) next to the name. So I am not sure what is your question above. There is only one "Daniel Egbunike" page in the whole English Wikipedia, just as there is only one "Anthony Joshua in the whole English Wikipedia, for such we dont need to add (boxer) after the subject name for the title page. When there is an existing article said, example here, Robert Whittaker, in Wikipedia, and I would like create another Robert Whitaker, the system would not allow me to create another article under the same name, in cases as such we need to add their profession after their name. For example if you are looking for Robert Whittaker, the Australian MMA fighter, and just type Robert Whittaker on the search box on the top right corner, (dont hit the "enter" key yet), there will be a dropdown list showing articles with the name Robert Whiitaker with (fighter)/(author)/(surgeon)/etc. Select the one you want to read, and it will lead you to the page. (see Robert Whittaker Disamb page HERE. I hope that is the question you asked above, if not, then pls specify.12:57, 16 November 2019 (UTC)

I agree there are very few sourse but I made another version, maybe it is a bit better. If there is a Pilis-page we also need a Visegrád Mountains page. Subject fails WP:MMABIO notability for he has not fought in any top tier promotion. Subject needs to have at least 3 fights to pass the notability guidelines. One Championships is not a top tier promoter. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 06:05, 12 November 2019 (UTC)

I added some mainstream, large-scale sources to it to show general notability, and also his shortlisting for the biggest MMA awards in the world, which is a fairly good determiner for his relevance to the sport as a whole too. He is a very prominent champion. He also won the Asian MMA Awards Fighter of the Year. You can't just ignore half of the world - this is clearly Western-centric. Please advise.— Preceding unsigned comment added by BearMinimum‎ (talkcontribs) 22:04, November 20, 2019 (UTC)

BearMinimum, Greetings. Subject fails WP:MMABIO. The article has been deleted prior your draft article as it fails the notability guidelines. - Pls see Here-1 and Here-2. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 11:25, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, but I know that WP:GNG supersedes WP:MMABIO.
"If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list."
You have seen from the sources provided that he is a significant person of interest both in Australia, Asia (as the best MMA fighter of the year) and worldwide, in the only genuine World MMA Awards. Can you tell me how he fails on general notability? Thanks BearMinimum (talk) 14:51, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
BearMinimum, as stated as per your message above "... it is "presumed" to be ....". The subject article was created and it was voted a deleted by editors and closing admin. He is outside of top 30 and 90 in featherweight and pound-for-pound ranking respectively - see HERE-1, HERE-2 and HERE-3. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 15:24, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
Okay, so reading here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Mixed_martial_arts/MMA_notability/Archive_10
"In conclusion, the objectivity of the process has proven to be widely approved by MMA editors and remember that WP:GNG always trumps any SNG."
I am not arguing the MMA notability case now, because it seems futile as those rankings are Western-biased, so I am just asking for clarity on GNG.
"Significant coverage" - Yes
"Reliable" - Yes
"Sources"[2] should be secondary sources" - Yes
"Independent of the subject" Yes
"Presumed" means that significant coverage in reliable sources creates an assumption, not a guarantee, that a subject merits its own article. A more in-depth discussion might conclude that the topic actually should not have a stand-alone article—perhaps because it violates what Wikipedia is not, particularly the rule that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information.
Can you clearly state the requirements under which Martin Nguyen would be notable, as "presumed" is the only vague one here? It is clear that he is a national, Asian, and worldwide known figure. He is clearly a notable figure. I cannot see how he fails that test. Thanks BearMinimum (talk) 15:46, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
BearMinimum, Notability guidelines has nothing to do with nationality or race. "Presumed" means presumed and not guarantee so discussion would be taken placed. The AfD discussion as per link given before Here-again, it was a delete vote and see what was stated in the discussion. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 16:08, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
Most of those talk about MMA notability requirements, and we're clear that GNG is the most important thing so it's largely redundant. The only comment on that says "I don't think the GNG is met by event promotions and results reporting." There is a lot more substance to the articles for this page than event promotions and results reporting. There are massive outlets reporting on him as a person. Daily Telegraph. Nine.com.au etc. Can you tell me how he does not meet the GNG? Your link did not make this any more clear. Thanks BearMinimum (talk) 16:16, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
BearMinimum, I have answered you the question and you ask them again. If an article/subject notability it in question, we send it to article in discussion so editors may discuss if it deems a keep or delete - many editors states what they think in the link and it is not only mine alone. The disucssion is reviewed by an admin and resulted in a delete. If you have significant coverage like 5-7 independent, reliable sources - such major national newspapers such as, Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, New York Times, New Strait Times, The Guardian, etc., where by the source talk "directly" about the subject in depth and in length and not passing mentioned or routine fight announcements or reports, that would pass GNG. (note interview articles are considered not independent and can not be used to demonstrate the notability of the subject)If you can find 5-7 of such sources then add them in the article and pop back here and let me know. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 16:33, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
I have been asking the same question because you have provided no answer to it, but that is the first time you have mentioned any tangible method by which to denote general notability, so thank you. You mention criteria which are not a part of the WP:GNG page guidelines in any form, so maybe it should be more specific there if that is the criteria. Again, nowhere does it say that interview articles cannot be used -- why is that a criteria? If an athlete has significant enough presence to be picked up by major outlets, the fact that they actually speak to them is significant. I don't know why that would be considered irrelevant? Can you please explain? In the meantime, I will find more sources for Mr Nguyen. Thanks. BearMinimum (talk) 02:53, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

BearMinimum, G'day. First of all, pls add additional " : " (colon) from the previous message thread before starting your message as this is the communication protocol for one space to the right indentation. (I had added the colons for you). For more Wikipedia markups pls see Help:Wikitex. Secondly, the information has given to you on the draft space of the article. If you read the grey/salmon colour message box which I left on top of the draft space it indicates the reasons of decline along with additional comment beneath the box message. Any time you see texts highlight in blue, do click on them for they will lead you to another pages for more details information.
Interviews are considered not independent sources. A source from reputable published source such as The Australian newspaper interviews Nguyen would make the source reliable but not independent as the info from the article is "dependent" from the subject which makes the source a WP:PRIMARY, instead of WP:SECONDARY. Primary/not independent source means we can not verify the content claimed from third party as info is from the subject/affiliated with the subject as the subject/their affiliation is the one who provide the info. Sources from personal web site, sites associated with the subject (such as ONE Championship web site, or articles of the subject from ONE Championship), facebook, user generated sites, marketing pieces, letters, press releases, and etc are considered not independent and can not be used to demonstrate/contribute the notability requirement needed but can be used as the "supplementary" after the significant coverage from independent, reliable sources / secondary reliable sources are present in the article. Do note sources can be in any languages. Hope this helps. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:44, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

Howdy Cassiopeia. Seeing as the 2018 & 2019 US gubernatorial elections were already held. Would it be alright to have all the 2022 US gubernatorial election articles restored? Afterall, it's the practice on Wikipedia to have next election articles. GoodDay (talk) 16:30, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

GoodDay, Greetings. I know many of them have been AfDed at the moment. No doubt we would presume that Summer Olympics games would continues unless some major incident such as world wars or environment catastrophic event occur, article for 2036 Summer Olympics has yet to be created as due to WP:CRYSTAL, but 2032 Summer Olympics is created as they are many independent, reliable sources supported the 16 nations to bid for the event. Same here, we have yet to enter 2020, 2022 US gubernatorial elections is two years away, if you would find significant coverage of published independent, reliable sources for verification then it would be a keep/restore. I personally would not support a keep where by the sources provided in the articles are about potential candidates for it is WP:CRYSTAL. thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 17:23, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
If any of those Afds result in delete, then those existing articles should be moved to draft, rather then deletion. Your solution of moving them to Draft, would best in those situations. GoodDay (talk) 17:46, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
GoodDay, We cant move the page to draft during the AfD is taking place. It would be best to make a copy of the AfD articles for recreation in the future in case they are deleted. I believe the all articles will be eventually created and accepted when there are enough independent, reliable published sources talk about the subject could be sought. Best. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 02:39, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

Carbon dioxide removal

I am proposing this article be moved to "artificial carbon dioxide removal" and I have explained why on the talk page. Alec Gargett (talk) 11:39, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

AlecGargett Greetings. Please wait for interested editors to join the discussion. At the meant time pls do not change the title name, add any info without citation/source or delete sourced info without good reasons. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 11:43, 21 November 2019 (UTC)
