No consensus "has been reached" on Messi's talk page

[edit]

Please ignore FMSky (saw your message on his talk page), he appears to have a ridiculous anti-Messi agenda. --Fateful apparition (talk) 12:16, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fateful apparition OK, thanks for the message. For me it's obvious that a lot of people consider Messi as the greatest of all time and I gave many urls but it is what it is :D --Campió99 (talk) 17:15, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

July 2021

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Lionel Messi. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. FMSky (talk) 18:06, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

FMSky My friend, what is wrong with you? Someone pays you for that? I just want to add one simple note that Lionel Messi "is widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time". I have lots of citations confirming this. What about you? --Campió99 (talk) 18:59, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

you should probably read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:BOLD,_revert,_discuss_cycle FMSky (talk) 19:13, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
FMSky I did. Can you tell me what do you want to accomplish? --Campió99 (talk) 19:25, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

a WP:Request for Comment may make sense FMSky (talk) 19:32, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
FMSky but did I write something that is not true? Tell me what is not true with the sentence "Lionel Messi is widely regarded as the best player of all time". --Campió99 (talk) 19:36, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
other players are often regarded the best player of all time too, thats the problem. its based on opinion --FMSky (talk) 19:41, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
FMSky Which players? Can you prove it? Give me like 15 citations about each of "them". --Campió99 (talk) 19:47, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
out of the first 20 or so resuls, 15 had maradona at No. 1: https://www.google.com/search?q=best+footballers+ever+ranking&source=hp&ei=Oob0YPHjKsbwkgXbvYGICA&iflsig=AINFCbYAAAAAYPSUSlHccTwJ4FLxXmkt2YH5j9dJyP-0&oq=best+footballers+ever+ranking&gs_lcp=Cgdnd3Mtd2l6EAMyBAgAEBMyCAgAEBYQHhATMggIABAWEB4QEzIICAAQFhAeEBMyCAgAEBYQHhATMggIABAWEB4QEzIICAAQFhAeEBMyCAgAEBYQHhATMggIABAWEB4QEzoICAAQsQMQgwE6CAguELEDEIMBOgUILhCxAzoOCC4QsQMQgwEQxwEQowI6AggAOgUIABCxAzoLCC4QsQMQgwEQkwI6BAgAEAM6CwguELEDEMcBEKMCOggILhDHARCvAToLCC4QsQMQxwEQrwE6BggAEBYQHjoGCAAQDRAeUOYBWPIdYJEeaABwAHgBgAH0AYgBhRaSAQYxOS44LjGYAQCgAQGqAQdnd3Mtd2l6&sclient=gws-wiz&ved=0ahUKEwjx6LSpsu3xAhVGuKQKHdteAIEQ4dUDCAg&uact=5 FMSky (talk) 19:59, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
FMSky OK. You're right. Now we have two or three footballers considered the best ever, do you agree? Maradona, Messi and sometimes Pelé. I have two propositions: (1) we can write on all three wikipages "is often considered as the best player of all time" and add citations or (2) write on those three pages "is often considered as one of three best footballers of all time alongside with ..." and add citations. Are you ok with at least one option? --Campió99 (talk) 20:25, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
or we can just leave everything like it is.... i don't see anything wrong with the way it's currently worded. also there's the thing with pele being officially labeled "the greatest" by FIFA which is already in the lead, and that would have to be changed too then.FMSky (talk) 08:17, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
FMSky hahahahaha I see something wrong because there are many players on Wiki called "one of the greatest". Messi is above them all. What will it change to you? People call him the GOAT and it is a fact. Campió99 (talk) 08:28, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
see, here's the problem (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Pel%C3%A9&diff=1034300277&oldid=1034246479). now we have another guy who thinks pele is the best ever. it just comes down to preference/personal opinion. so just narrowing it down to 1-3 players and declaring them as goat doesnt make sense FMSky (talk) 08:33, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
FMSky I found dozens of citations about Messi. You found rankings made by some journalists calling Maradona the greatest. If this guy will find many citations about Pele, he can add a note that "Pele is often considered the best of all time". I don't see any problem. We know that it's only about them three not about 15 players or more. Campió99 (talk) 08:41, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Messi

[edit]

Use Messi’s talk page for any issue, not mine, that way you will get a greater range of views on the subject. The intro between Messi and Cristiano was previously agreed upon, which means not elevating one above the other. I’ve made my own opinion clear (not that my own opinion is worth more than just that) that Messi is the greatest player I’ve seen in my lifetime, followed by the Brazilian Ronaldo. But what individuals think is not encyclopaedic, we have to go with the consensus which reflects popular opinion. I think it’s unlikely there will be a shift towards Messi because if anything his claim is not as strong as previous with his national team woes (not his fault) and the demise of Barca (again, not his fault).
