An article you recently created, December 1894 Calgary municipal election, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 1884 Calgary municipal election, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Archibald Grant (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 13:34, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Howard Douglas

[edit]

Please be more careful in which statements you attribute to which sources. I'm going to have to remake "Howard Douglas (park superintendent)" because you've got facts from source A attributed to source B, facts from source B attributed to source A, and facts which aren't attributed at all so I might have to remove them if I can't find where you got them. Hello, Caddyshack01. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "December 1894 Calgary municipal election".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Hi Caddyshack01, I'm not sure you are aware of this, but you need to add a source via one of the {{citation}} templates when you add a harvard style template. Library and Archives Canada Robert Stanfield image

[edit]

Hello, I am wondering what license this image is under, and I am wondering how you found out the license of this image. https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/CollectionSearch/Pages/record.aspx?app=FonAndCol&IdNumber=3408575 Ak-eater06 (talk) 22:56, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The image taken September 1964 is subject to Crown copyright as it was made by the "Canada. Centennial Commission", a government commission formed under the National Centennial Act in 1961, and renamed by the Centennial of Confederation Act in 1963. As a crown image, the copyright expired on December 31, 2014. The file is marked with the PD-Canada-Crown license in wikimedia. --Caddyshack01 (talk) 16:59, 5 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Caddyshack01: so does that mean that I can use any image from Library and Archives Canada (as the copyright probably expired in 2014)? I've found much better and clearer images of Stanfield. Ak-eater06 (talk) 18:00, 6 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ak-eater06: It does not apply to any image at Library and Archives Canada, Crown copyright only applies on materials made by, or under the direction of the Crown. So you have to check the image to see if it was made by the Crown/Crown ABC, or by a person/corporation. Basically if a photographer is listed, then you will most likely need to wait until after the author's death. See Template:PD-Canada --Caddyshack01 (talk) 02:59, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Caddyshack01 - I just came across the article on Disallowance and reservation in Canada, which you created. It's great! Would you be interested in trying to have it accepted as a Featured article? You would have to nominate it, and then be prepared for the detailed review, but I think it's a good candidate. If I could help with responding to the review questions, I would be available. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 18:21, 6 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Mr Serjeant Buzfuz:, I would be interested in trying to have it accepted, although I am not sure of the process. There are some aspects that are challenging to explain that would hold it up, such as the difference between disallowance and reservation of federal vs. provincial bills/laws. Also some aspects about disallowance that are missing, such as the Padlock Law in the 1930s. I also intended to create a list of disallowed and reserved acts as a page, but there is no easy way to copy and paste the list found in La Forest's book, so it will take a while to type them all out. Maybe the first step is good article status? Caddyshack01 (talk) 15:10, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would go for all the marbles. I think it's a really good article, so try for Featured status. Here's the process: Wikipedia:Peer review/Guidelines. I would be willing to help find more citations or information, if that comes out of the review. (I've never done a Featured Article process, but do have one Good Article.) Not trying to take over the credit or anything, but willing to help. I have access to the LaForest book so will see if there's a way I can OCR the list you mentioned; haven't looked at that book for a long time, so need to refresh my memory. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 23:58, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Forgot to mention - tried to OCR LaF's book, but it was too complex a set of tables for my system.  :( Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 18:24, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New articles relating to Disallowance and Reservation

[edit]

Hi Caddyshack01, I wanted to let you know that I've been working on some articles that relate to disallowance and reservation - not meant to supercede or compete with your excellent article, but complementary. For some time now I've been working on articles on individual sections of the Constitution Act, 1867, and I've just today finished and posted articles on section 54, section 55, section 56, section 57 and section 90. Some overlap with your article, but yours is the deep dive; mine are meant to be more summary, to place the topics in the context of the CA 1867. Would welcome any comments (or corrections!) you may have. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 16:36, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Disallowance and reservation in Canada you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility.
