Welcome!

Hello, Camaron1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Recent Assessments

First, I would like to thank you for your enthusiasm is helping us review articles. Second, there is significant WP:COI in reviewing an article which you are, by your own user page, directly interested in. I have looked at your reviews and while corect in content, they overestimate the quality of these articles. Feel free to have a look at the articles that have gotten Start ratings. Once again, Thanks for your enthusiasm. Adam McCormick 22:18, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your help. I can understand your concern about WP:COI, though please note that I have not done any significant editing or alteration to these articles yet, that is the "next stage". Once I do start editing these articles more, I will request a review instead. As you might have guessed I am new at assessments, but we all have to start somewhere, so thanks again for your help. Camaron1 | Chris 22:56, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to schools

I thought I'd also offer the hand of welcome. I was worried that all the "criticism" youd received might have been taken personally. Pleased to see you are adding assessments. Ive set myself the task of trying to do all the schools that begin with C ... its a big task ... help if you like. Pleased to see what youve done.. please to see more Victuallers 18:59, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the kind thoughts, I have received a bit of criticism but I took it as advice and not personally. I am glad you like my assessments, yours are great too. Good luck with your work, I will try and offer a helping hand when ever I can. Cheers! Camaron1 | Chris 19:20, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

When you get a chance plaese let us know if you agree with giving this article an A rating. It is already GA. Adam McCormick 03:48, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Commented, thanks! Camaron1 | Chris 20:24, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
So you dissagree with an A rating? Adam McCormick 01:57, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
No, I made a mistake when commenting. I have now corrected this, sorry for the confusion! Camaron1 | Chris 15:05, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Appreciate it. I have to admit that the tone of my edit summary wasn't appropriate though. It pops out every once in a while when I write anything, and while I don't often publish it onto Wikipedia, stuff like that do slip through on a handful of occasions. Cheers. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 16:30, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

No worries, I can understand why you said that so I didn't really take offence. Thanks again for your help. Camaron1 | Chris 16:55, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

82.26.xxx.xxx Bandit

The 82.26.xxx.xxx Bandit is becoming a pain in the proverbial.

For instance I made an erroneous edit to Mayville High School in an attempt to revert the vandalism by 82.26.107.104 (contributions) that took place 06:15, 8 April 2007 to the page. It seems that the guerrilla tactics by the 82.26.xxx.xxx Bandit are causing a number of incidents of friendly fire. -- Drappel 18:43, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Signature

I would like to politely suggest that your signature color is a bit confusing. When I first saw it, I thought it was a Wikilink to a nonexistent article -- the standard red link :) -- LeCourT:C 01:24, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

I see, I took out the colour tags - they were causing problems with archiving anyway. Camaron1 | Chris 16:00, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Good Counsel

Hi Chris, welcome back... hope the exams went (are going?) well. Saw you have made some changes but intrigued to see a mid for Good Counsel College - maybe its the duplication thing but I couldnt find much at all.... just a minute. Inniskillen looks OK its the other one that has only a paragraph. That explains (I hope) why someone asked for an assessment. Victuallers 15:42, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the welcome back, my GCSE exams are over (last one was on 14 June), they did go reasonably well I hope!
The duplicate articles are becoming quite difficult to deal with! I assessed both as Mid importance as the importance part of the assessment is in theory irrelevant of the article(s) and is about the school itself - so the importance of both should be the same. I choose Mid importance as one of the articles marks the school as quite important historically with some alumni, though I would not object to a re-assessment to low importance. Camaron1 | Chris 15:52, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I hope to be a great admin (and editor) and I'm sure you can tell that my use of a large, boldfaced, capital "T" and a big checkmark image in this generic "thank you" template that I swiped from some other user's Talk Page that I totally mean business! RFA Withdrawal

Hiya. Thanks for you kind words. I had a lot of support out there, but it became clear that I wasn't as hot on policy as I thought - hence my withdrawl. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I was deelpy suprised by the breadth of support, but saddened by the oppose comments based on popularity - I note you even expanded your support to reject that idea!! I felt the popularity contest view to be slightly insulting to the editors who supported me, implying that they hadn't reviewed my answers or my contributions, which was clearly not the case. Once again, thanks for your support and kind comments. I hope to see you round the 'pedia! Pedro |  Chat  13:31, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Thank you also for your kind words. Yes, I did think that oppose comments in your RfA were speculative, unfair and piling on to just a few reasons to oppose - though I am glad you responded to them well. I hope to see you around Wikipedia in the future, once again good luck! Camaron1 | Chris 10:11, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your support and comments at my RfA
Hi Camaron1, It still amazes me that otherwise "anonymous" editors take the time to place !votes and comments on RfAs. Whilst I would have normally thanked you at the time of you leaving your message, the importance of my not appearing to be canvassing prevented me from so doing. Now that everything has progressed successfully I can finally thank you. I intend to uphold a style of good adminship and will welcome your further comments at any time in the future, even if they are in the form of admonishment. I will be happy to help as an admin wherever and whenever I can --VS talk 22:41, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Admin coaching

Hey Chris, been away for a bit so I've just got your note. Sure thing, I'd love to help you get adminship. Do me a favour, let me know what your answer to Q1 of the RFA procedure would be right now and I'll let you know if you'd get shot down by the community. What is it that makes you want to be admin? The Rambling Man 16:29, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, thats great to hear! I will put an answer for question one together as soon as I can. I have created a dedicated page at User:Camaron1/Admin coaching for us to use - I will place my answer there. I agree that that Q1 is a good place to start - although admin coaching is not supposed to be purely so you can pass RFA; I have seen many candidates get shot down over responses to that question, and I would like that not to happen to me! Camaron1 | Chris 17:03, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, of course, the answer to Q1 is intended to help me understand what you're most interested in doing as an admin. I appreciate it's not the be-all-and-end-all of getting to adminship! Let me know when you're ready for me to review it... all the best, The Rambling Man 17:27, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Why does this page have to be deleted if there are many other pages like Politics of California? Why is this any different? If there is something wrong with it, then fix it, but don't delete it. Libertyville | Talk 15:43, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

The article has no references and does not establish notability, please do not take it personally. Please read WP:N, WP:V and WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. If you want the article kept - I would suggest you expand it and add references. The article does not follow WP:NPOV either - it is only an opinion that the state is democratic. Misinterpreted that section, might need re-wording. Camaron1 | Chris 15:50, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

...for your comments on the expansion of SimCity 4. Off the topic, there are a few edits which I have created by donating what I know, but may still not be enough to qualify as an article. Is there a template out there which can tell people that so an article doesn't get AfD because it fails to make wiki criteria? ætərnal ðrAعon 09:16, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. This is the closest set of templates I could find: Wikipedia:Template_messages/Maintenance. I would suggest you just keep actively trying to improve the article - that would make an AFD less likely. At worst, if there is an AFD, explain your case - articles are often kept, not for what they are, but what they could be. Camaron1 | Chris 10:32, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Response to WikiProject SOS

Hi, Camaron1.

Thanks for your response!

I've already started a project page for what we are calling the "Dyslexia" Wikiproject. It will cover Dyslexia and topics directly related to the disorder. We started as a group of editors using a "To Do" list at the top of the Dyslexia Talk page. It became clear pretty quickly that we would need a little more structure than the to-do list could provide.

The topic has several issues that are controversial, and a number of them are country to country variances. At this point we have a very long article that we plan to break up into a series of articles, using Summary Style and a Navigation box to make the articles in the series obvious.

I'd still like to get advice and guidance. Take a look at the Project Page and offer whatever suggestions you think of and have time to make: WikiProject Dyslexia.

Thanks again,

Rosmoran 21:40, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

What a nice project, I do think Wikipedia could do with improving the state of its Dyslexia articles. I have dyscalclia myself - though I rarely edit these type of articles, I might pop in and help one day. Camaron1 | Chris 10:15, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Citation Tags

Hi Camaron1 ! I noticed you flagged Twyford School as needing some citation tags on the ex pupils [1] If you check the references (note 1) you'll see all but Edwin H. Dodgson are in fact already cited by a secondary reference and are therefore verifiable. I will try and source a ref on the third (it is mentioned in the wikipedia article about Edwin Dodgson but obviously we can't cite ourselves!) but meantime I was wondering if you'd like to undo your requests for ciations as they are in fact already there. I'd do it myself but it's good to have other input! Thanks and happy editing! Pedro |  Chat  19:46, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the heads up - I have removed the tags for now, it is not important that they are there anyway. Camaron1 | Chris 19:50, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
No worries! I'll try and get a second/third party ref on Dodgson though for completeness. I see from your user page you live in the UK - are you near this area or are you generally sorting out the England Articles ? I know I've seen you all over the wiki. (BTW re: RFA comments by Giggy - I'd love to co-nom at a later date...)Pedro |  Chat  20:00, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
I live in Hampshire and I am doing some general cleanup for Hampshire school articles in my area. It is very heart warming to hear you would like to co-nom me for RFA, I will tell you at a later date when I am planning to run. Camaron1 | Chris 20:05, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Please do notify me. I'd be delighted - particularly for a fellow Hampshire editor. You might be able to narrow down my location just a bit further if you look at my DYK articles and the ones I contribute to the most! Pedro |  Chat  20:14, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
OK, are you from Bishopstoke? As you might guess I am from the Petersfield, Hampshire area. Camaron1 | Chris 20:25, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Bullseye !! So we're not that far apart. If you see anything article wise that needs a photo that's in my area give me a heads up. I'm a crap photographer but I do prefer wiki articles with images (I'd like to get Twyford School but I think they might have some issues with someone wandering around with a camera!). Cheers Chris. Welcome to Wikipedia, I look forward to seeing your contributions. Camaron1 | Chris 17:34, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

LOL WUT

Excuse me, but I sorta think that the reason I had for csd before that eBaumsworld person removed it again was a bit more "relevant" to the nature of the meme...think you could you put it back to what I had before? It was epic :) ViperSnake151 21:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

I have switched it to G10 - seems more accurate. Camaron1 | Chris 21:51, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

ESC 2008

Thank you for all your hard work on this page. Myself and AxG started this page and haven't been able to continue it recently. Be aware that there are many IP edits that go on, on the page. We have had it semi-protected many times but vandalism still occurs, ie. people thinking things that aren't true. Thanks again! ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 16:38, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Also, I see you play Sim City. I co-founded a Wiki called Simpedia and it is, obviously, based on The Sims. We also accept topics and etc. on Sim City. I hope you join up at http://simpedia.co.uk and join the community ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 16:38, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Hey Celticfan, you are quite welcome. I was drawn to the page mostly due to questionable edits been made by people - and it needed to be cleaned. I will take a look at your Wiki - though I am a little busy currently with college e.t.c that I can barely keep up on Wikipedia. Camaron1 | Chris 20:10, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Naming of schools

I have a feeling this school naming conventions proposal will never be resolved. In theory it ought to be simple, but in practice it's a real hornet's nest! Let's see what happens. I wasn't sure what to do about Australia. I understood that they preferred commas and most of the Australian schools I've come across use commas so it's difficult to find an example unless we change it to commas rather than parentheses. Have you tried getting any input from the new Education in Australia Wikiproject? Dahliarose 15:04, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

I will respond at WT:NC(S). Camaron1 | Chris 16:39, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Hmm, when I checked through his edit history it was pretty clear to me that he'd somehow flown under the radar and deserved no mercy. I'm watching the Eurovision 2008 page and noticed your very clear and useful edit summary there, hence my actions. Keep up the good work! By the way, how's the GA going? The Rambling Man 19:03, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey, the edit he/she made to ESC 2008 was a little funny in itself so I reverted it with one of my better edit summaries. The GA is going well - I have cleaned up about 50% of the article and I am now working on the other half, plus doing some other work such as adding more references, working with wiki-links, and extending the introduction. I will keep you informed on how things are going. Camaron1 | Chris 19:35, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Crowlees Junior and Infant School

Hi, thank you for your support at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Crowlees Junior and Infant School. I have now substantially expanded and sourced up the article to justify a standalone existence. I wonder if I might trouble you to revisit the merge part of your recommendation, please, since a merge would unbalance the Mirfield article? TerriersFan 02:32, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes it would now, consider my comment updated. Thanks. Camaron1 | Chris 15:30, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Many thanks for fixing the assessment - I thought there must be a way to do it :-) TerriersFan 18:02, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Melissa Fay Greene entry

Hi Camaron, I just heard from you about my new page, which I appreciate very much as I'm a first-time Wiki contributor. Does Wikipedia prefer internal links to external links? I've chosen some external links when a reference (for example "NPR") can, with an external link, carry the reader to an NPR story BY Melissa Fay Greene rather than to a Wiki entry on NPR in general. Another example is to the National Book Award website which lists Greene as a finalist rather than to a Wiki page about the National Book Awards. I'm happy to follow your preferences. Thanks again, Melissa —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mfgreene1 (talkcontribs) 16:13, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello. I marked the article to wikify for more internal links, so users can get to other relevant articles quickly. You add internal links by adding [[ and ]] around the text. So [[School]] produces School. Happy editing! Camaron1 | Chris 16:21, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Many thanks for rating the Maine Township schools

Thank you for taking the time to rate the three articles on these schools. I have spent a bit of time trying to add citations and clean up two of them. I will redouble my efforts in an attempt to continue improvements. LonelyBeacon 17:36, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome, that is great to hear. I hope I have given you some guidance on how to improve the articles, at least one is on its way to GA. Camaron1 | Chris 18:29, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your improvement of the RCHS article, however, I made a mistake and am requesting your help. I have a typo in the name. Can you fix it please? I am new at wikipedia and am not sure how to fix the mistake. Dustihowe 16:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

OK, I have fixed it for you - I missed the typo. For the future, note that any logged in user with an account older than 4 days can move pages, as yours is. You move pages by clicking the "Move" tab at the top of any article, next to "History" and "Watch". You then follow the instructions on the screen. Thanks. Happy editing! Camaron1 | Chris 16:18, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Your quick, do you think you could help me with coding and stuff like that? Since I'm new to Wikipedia? Dustihowe 16:23, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Well I just happen to be online now. I am happy to give you help if you need it, you might want to check out Help:Contents for general help as well. Camaron1 | Chris 16:31, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok awesome, firstly, can you help me arrange my userpage? Also, if i may, how old are you? Your user page says like 16, but you said that your in college??Dustihowe 16:36, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
I am at college, and I am 16, which is the right age to attend a Sixth form college in the United Kingdom. Anyway, what do you want me to do on your user-page? Camaron1 | Chris 16:43, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Can we organize it to make it look a little better somewhat like yours....plus i have another question for you, but i dont want to ask it here. Dustihowe 16:46, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

My user-page took many months to get to the way it is today, and remember that in the end how your user-page looks is not really important. I would suggest you build your user-page up over time and experience. Visit Wikipedia:Userboxes if you want to start "collecting", you might also want to sign-up to User:StatusBot - I can help you with that. Note that another bot is currently doing StatusBot's tasks. Camaron1 | Chris 17:00, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Can you go to User:Dustihowe/Progress so i can ask you a question please? Dustihowe 17:05, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Did you get my last message? Dustihowe —Preceding comment was added at 17:37, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I have now replied. Camaron1 | Chris 17:56, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, see, I'm 17 and I am, and I know how i feel when someone asks me. I'm sorry. Dustihowe —Preceding comment was added at 18:07, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
No need to be sorry, I understand people been curies on what I put on my user-page. Camaron1 | Chris 18:19, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

RFA nom

I'd like to nominate you for administratorship. Please let me know if you are interested. SWATJester Son of the Defender 02:26, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Thats great to hear, I am planning to run for adminship soon and I already have Pedro (talk · contribs) and Dihydrogen Monoxide (talk · contribs) nominating me; if you like you can co-nom me. I will contact you when I am going to run. Camaron1 | Chris 11:31, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Sure, thanks. SWATJester Son of the Defender 21:28, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
Just from past experience, and completely unsolicited advice, but more than one or two noms can get people's back up and can generate unnecessary opposes or neutrals. Some see it as an inability to say "no" to friends, even if this is not the case. My suggestion would be to have one or at most two nominators, and have others who wish to nominate post support votes and statements supporting (in the regular "Discussion - Support" section) before you link the thing to the general public. FTR I would be willing to support any such application, you're the sort of person and attitude we need helping out. Orderinchaos 11:41, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
OK, I think I am going to take your advice on-board - you are right, AFDs such as Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Pedro did receive complaints based on number of nominations. I am going to stick with my original two, I think two separate opinions would help the AFD. Thank you for your support Orderinchaos and Swatjester, both of you are welcome to support my application through the support/discussion section when it goes ahead, which should be quite soon now. Camaron1 | Chris 18:19, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Ah, i hadn't noticed that. I'll keep that in mind. Wizardman 19:25, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Editor review

Again, my pleasure. Please let me know when you decide to go forward with your admin request. (It's not canvassing if it's requested. :D) I'm not offering to nom you, since you've got that fully covered as it is and since I'm not that frequent a participant at RfA, but I would most definitely like to support you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:12, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your support, I will contact you when the RFA goes live (people will complain if anyone but the nominaters and the candidate comment on the RFA page before then). I have still not fully decided when I am going to run for the tools, I want to be sure I am ready, though before or during January 2008 was what I have in mind. Happy editing! Camaron1 | Chris 21:28, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
I promise not to touch it before its properly listed. :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:11, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

ESC Stuff

Hi,

I see that you are also part of WikiProject Eurovision.

Thanks for keeping the 2008 page up-to-date, I know I started it and planned to help a lot with it but I've been a bit busy recently.

When the national selections start I think we should make the pages as soon as we can, i.e. now. We will need to catch up quite quickly as Bulgaria and Iceland have started. I have seen that the Sweden 08 page is up-to-date also. If we start early we'll have accurate, well-written articles ready for May 08.

I will try to play as much of a part in this as I can.

Please reply with more ideas, how to do this, etc. on my page... ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 17:11, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Replied at User talk:Celticfan383 per request. Camaron1 | Chris 19:29, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I think if we make the pages with enough info they'll stay. We have enough info for Iceland and Bulgaria so we could start them. ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email| 20:49, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes I agree, we would need to re-create the template as well. Camaron1 | Chris 20:56, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Admin coaching

I've added a reply (at last!) on your page. The Rambling Man 14:35, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

I will have a look now. Camaron1 | Chris 19:34, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Your anon Euro-vandal, pushing his/her luck big time as far as I can see. Once more and it really is AIV time I'm afraid. The lack of any explanation and the lack of any edit summary and the clear removal of cited statements is, unfortunately, clear vandalism as far as I'm concerned. Since it's an anon who seems to edit intermittently I'd recommend a week block with a serious piece of advice to (a) communicate and (b) use edit summaries. Let me know if he/she returns... The Rambling Man 22:18, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, the fact the user is ignoring the block warning I think gives a sound case to call it vandalism, I will let you know if he/she returns. I am a little bit more hesitant than would I be normally, as I am involved in editing the article. Camaron1 | Chris 16:27, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the replies

Thank you for your replies and explaination of "pre-emptive disambiguation". The link did not help, but your expanded explaination was of a great assistance. Thank you. Dbiel (Talk) 18:30, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

You're welcome. Camaron1 | Chris 20:01, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Thx spam

Thank you, Camaron1, for supporting my RfB, which I withdrew at a final tally of (33/12/1). I failed to overcome the not unforeseeable opposition, but I am humbled by some extremely supportive, encouraging words I could read. In order to honor your trust, I once again vow to continue working and improving. Please contact me should you have any advice or recommendation to give. Or, should you need assistance. I am, as will always be, at your service. Again, please accept my most sincere gratitude.

Best regards, Húsönd 03:18, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Prod was an oversight

The prod tag was an accident. I was just grousing that the AfD result had not been implemented at the time. AnteaterZot (talk) 21:54, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I got that impression, no worries. Camaron1 | Chris 22:36, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

My User Boxes

Can you help me. I am trying to line up my talk page, and I cannot get my userboxes to go right. Thanks! --Dustihowe  Talk  19:14, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello, your user-boxes look alright to me - I see you have based their order on the ones on my page by the looks of things, which is good! The committed identity template might give you a problem though, my suggestion on that is to move it to a separate page, as I have done, see User:Camaron1/Committed identity. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 19:37, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Actually, (I hope you don't mind), I copied and pasted from your page. Is there a way to put my userboxes next to the welcome box on my page? Dustihowe  Talk  20:16, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
No I don't mind, you can use the format of my user-page as much as you like. I have tried to fix your user-box formating. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 20:25, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Your RFA

Hey, thanks for your note. Be sure to drop me a line as soon as you transclude, I seem to be able to get to a PC at least once every few days. Have a good Christmas yourself if I don't speak to you before. All the best, from sunny Laos, The Rambling Man on tour (talk) 04:50, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

I will, enjoy the sun. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 13:27, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
I see this thread and I'm surprised it hasn't already happened, I've already got your RFA on my watchlist. Good luck. Best regards, Rt. 22:20, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your kind words, you are not the first person to say that; expect my request to transclude very shortly. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 22:55, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Done - Good luck :) Dihydrogen Monoxide (Review) 00:02, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

I'd be delighted to offer my co nom support - I note your health issue notice - are you okay still to run? I won't be online on the 25th (for clear reasons!) but if you are okay I will be delighted to write a nom statement on boxing day. If you'd prefer to get it running prior to my strong support will be forthcoming! Pedro :  Chat  —Preceding comment was added at 22:24, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Thats good to hear. I am feeling better than I was on the health front so I should be ok to run by boxing day; it would be great if you could write a co-nom for then. In the meantime, have a great Christmas! Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 22:55, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
Writing it now. Pedro :  Chat  22:55, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Thats great, don't rush yourself though, there is no immediate rush and I recognise your busy at the moment. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 22:59, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
Done. And I'm now very interested in your edits to PSC. Are you an old Symondian? Pedro :  Chat  23:10, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
I assume you refer to Peter Symonds College, unfortunately no, I knew nothing about the college before I started editing the article. Anyway by the looks of it we are ready to transclude. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 09:22, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
That's the one! I just noticed your edits to the article and wondered (it's my old college). When I'm next in Winchester I'll see if I can take a photo of the main building to add into the article. I live nearby so hopefully in the new year. Best of luck on the RfA - it's a horrid week!!! Pedro :  Chat  13:33, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, I am sure I will manage this week. I should probably get some photos for the Alton College article I am working on too. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 15:36, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Preemptive congrats! If only ever RfA went as well as yours :) Dihydrogen Monoxide (Review) 23:10, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Hey, I've caught it! Looks like it's going well to me. Can't lend much credence to either oppose, and don't think it'll be an issue anyway, but good luck with the rest of it. Let me know how you get on. All the best, The Rambling Man on tour (talk) 05:19, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks both of you! Yes I am glad it is going quite well, as for the opposition well there are few RFAs these days which get no opposes, and I have to say I generally agree with you / The Rambling Man on the weight of their comments. The second oppose seems to be more of a protest than anything personal, and I have decided I am not changing my mind on adding myself to the category.
I have noticed that you / Dihydrogen Monoxide are having an RFA at the same time. I wish you / DM the best of luck! I have decided not to participate for now to avoid a potential conflict of interest, but I will participate (very likely to support) if it is still running after my RFA closes - which it will if it runs all the way through. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 11:38, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

You are now an administrator

Congratulations, I have just closed your RfA as successful and made you an administrator. Baton Rouge Magnet High School assessment

I saw your assessment on Baton Rouge Magnet High School. I was wondering what your take is on the building photo gallery since someone keeps restoring it and I don't think it was there when you did the assessment. AliveFreeHappy (talk) 17:15, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I generally agree with you that the inclusion of such a photo gallery purely on damage to the school does not follow WP:UNDUE. This appears to be one user using multiple similar IPs who wants the content in the article against the views of multiple other users; I have given a 3rr warning for now, and I will keep an eye on the page. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 17:53, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the extra eyeballs. I'd like to avoid asking for page protection if possible since school articles rely on IP editors in a large way. AliveFreeHappy (talk) 18:03, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
On close examination it is only one IP which is revert warring - that means if the user continues to edit war and refuse to discuss it, then a block would be better than page protection. My suggestion would be is to try and bring the issue back-up on the talk page, and see how it goes. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 18:50, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, we'll give that another round. If we can only get that editor to use the talk page rather than just editing, it would be a big improvement. AliveFreeHappy (talk) 19:21, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
There is more then one person involved, as I'm different from the person who put up the issue. Just because you don't like how the facts might be seen by other people does not change that they are fact. The school is damaged, the pictures show it, the citations show it. The facts are well supported now. Cozret (talk) 04:45, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
And now Camaron1 you can see what the problem is. They don't get that it doesn't matter if the information is positive or negative, it's about creating a balanced article. AliveFreeHappy (talk) 04:59, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
No, the issue is your moving goal post. Every time someone meets the requirements you say will make you happy, you push the goal post back another few yards. You claim there is a one person war, and there is. Many people working to create a up-to-date entry and you working to censor it.--Cozret (talk) 05:10, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
Actually, if you look back you'll see I have the same issues today as I originally did. [2]. AliveFreeHappy (talk) 05:12, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Arnold Murray Page

You protected the wrong page, this person and another started changing it on 10 Dec 2007. Previous to that, the page has been unchanged for a long time.

Anon '208.127.154.159' and now 'Crusader777', gutted the article and references to other articles, like the one on 'roy gillaspie' were also gutted.

By protecting the wrong article, there is no dispute, they are happy to have the gutted, 'sanitized' version up on wikipedia.

That is why the donations are so low, so many personal agendas here. Tss8071 (talk) 13:10, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

I protected the article upon request at WP:RFPP. Whatever is going on the edit warring by multiple users had to stop. I protected the article on the version the page it happened to be at, it is not an endorsement of the current version. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 13:15, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Then maybe you should have looked into it further to see which article belongs there. Prior to 10 December 2007, the article was fine and remained unchanged for a long time.
I noticed you put a dispute tag on it, why? The user gutting the article is happy to see the gutted version on wikipedia. There is no dispute now. You can remove that tag.
Another anon user participating in this also gutted the 'roy gillaspie' article down to one line because it related to 'arnold murray'. I reverted the changes but perhaps you could protect the 'one line' version as well.
It is incidents like this that make it hard for wikipedia to be considered legitimate.
I am going walking, have fun. Bye.Tss8071 (talk) 13:35, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
I cannot revert the article to a particular version per WP:PROTECT. Once an agreement is reached, and it is shown that the dispute is over, the page can be unprotected. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 13:40, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
The user doing this is happy to see the gutted version on wikipedia, he is gone. Good job. Dispute is over.65.87.185.73 (talk) 13:58, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
I have requested the dispute tag to be removed. The users doing this are gone. Their, 10 Dec 2007, gutted version of the article is locked on wikipedia.
Since they are gone and it appears the admins will not do the right thing, where is the dispute?
Let me repeat that, the users doing this are gone. I can't have a dispute with myself and the admins locked the wrong article.
Nice job. Thanks for the good work. Oh, they also gutted the 'roy gillaspie' article to one line because it relates to 'arnold murray'. Maybe you can have someone lock the one line version as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tss8071 (talkcontribs) 14:39, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Just an update, since you locked the wrong page, which is the gutted version, the other users are gone. So, now it is a one person dispute. Things are going really well with my dispute with myself.Tss8071 (talk) 16:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
I have seen no evidence that the moment the article is unprotected, the edit warring will not just re-start. The user(s) you are disputing with seems quite active to me. Why don't you assume good faith and try and agree with the user what version of the article Wikipedia should have? The page will automatically unprotect itself in five days, that gives you some time. I would like to point out that your edits to the article today came very close to violating WP:3RR, if you continue to engage in edit wars with other users, you are likely to find yourself blocked from editing. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 20:01, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
And that is exactly why wikipedia has trouble being considered legitimate. His 'gutted' version is on the main page, locked. It will unlock in five days and you say if the gutted article is reverted back to its original then it could mean being banned from editing.
Explain to me again why it has a dispute tag? All he has to do is wait it out to keep the gutted version in. If you took the time to look, the versions previous to 10 Dec 2007 were the legitimate, ungutted versions and remained unchanged for a long time.
If you also took the time to look, these users gutted the 'roy gillaspie' article down to one sentence. Is the resolution the same for that article as well? If it is reverted then the user is banned from editing.
Again, nice job, thanks for the hard work. So, lets see, his answer to specific facts (detailed in the discussion page) is, 'it is propaganda', your comment is, 'the article will unprotect in five days . . . if you continue in edit wars . . . you likely will find yourself banned from editing'.
I ask again, why is the dispute tag there? You protected the wrong article, the gutted one, and any reverting of changes can result in being banned.Tss8071 (talk) 23:48, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Here is a comment from your recent edit:
'Adding reasonable expire date, to give the dispute a time to resolve and avoid keeping the page protected for to long.'
All you are doing at this point is playing a game. You basically said the gutted article is in (the post 10 Dec 2007 article).
If this user is going to delete all information except favorable information, what edits can be made on the article exactly? Any comment about murray's minister license, deleted, comment about him pulling out a gun on his tv show (video on google), deleted, comments about the name of a white supremacist on his web page, deleted.
I do have a resolution for you though, since you seem to be mindlessly doing this, go ahead and ban me from editing and the article can't be reverted (at least by me).
Since they also gutted the 'roy gillaspie' article down to one sentence, he is the person mentioned on Arnold Murray's website, perhaps you could jump over there and lock that version as well. You are doing fine work.Tss8071 (talk) 00:06, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
No one is playing a game. The article was protected to avoid edit warring, and to avoid people been blocked for doing so. Your comments left on this page have far from motivated me to unprotect the page; please try and keep cool and disengage from editing a page if you find yourself edit warring with someone else. Now see my comments on the article talk page. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 11:12, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
By leaving the article as is, the net effect is, you have allowed three people to nullify the the work of many people, work which continued for over a year. In one swoop, all of that has been wiped out. You said my comments have not motivated you, they were not intended to motivate you because by allowing the current article to stand, you have legitimatized vandalism. With those kind of results from you, there is no motivating you. Wikipedia is has lost something today and you helped Wikipedia lose it.Tss8071 (talk) 12:20, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
What these users did was not appropriate, since it does not follow policies such as WP:NOT#CENSORED, but it is not simple vandalism - these users have good intentions, and hence policies such as WP:3RR still apply. Once again, I am not endorsing a particular version of the page - if you want to restore the article to the version you like, go ahead, just do not engage in edit wars. If you want assistance or advice ask for it - but leaving personal attacks telling me I am mindless e.t.c here will never help and is not the purpose of this talk page. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 12:41, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
The original article is restored, thank you.Tss8071 (talk) 13:12, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 13:15, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, well, that did not last long, 12 hours by my count and the same users went back and gutted the article again of any negative content. What is the next step?Tss8071 (talk) 02:52, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Cluebot caught some of the vandalism and reverted it but all they did was go back and re-gut the article. Under wiki policies what is done next? Gutting articles like this falls under vandalism, not editing.Tss8071 (talk) 03:02, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

So, what they did is realize cluebot reverts the article if too much is cut out at one time, so, they are removing any negative content, a piece at a time. The same people are doing thisas before, when the edit war started (or one person with 2 or 3 accounts). One year of work, with contributions from many people, wiped out in minutes. Thanks anyway.Tss8071 (talk) 11:47, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the notice, though please bear in mind as I live in the UK (in the GMT time zone, the one Wikipedia uses) I am generally asleep and offline at 3:00am GMT, and I am not normally available in the mornings on week days. Fortunately, Crusader777 (talk · contribs) has been blocked by another admin for 31 hours already, even if his edits are no simple vandalism, he is still being disruptive, edit warring, and ignoring warnings. I will keep an eye on things for when he returns, hopefully he will not continue this behaviour. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 19:11, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I uploaded the license of Arnold Murray to wikipedia and updated the links. However, I am not sure I did the copyright correctly. The copyright categories seem rather odd. The license, as noted, is from the Benton County, AR Clerk's Office and no copyright applies, it is public record. Can you check it and make sure it is correct? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tss8071 (talkcontribs) 13:05, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I assume you are talking about Image:Arnold murray ministers license.jpg. It looks like a sensibly reasoned upload to me, though to be honest I am not an expert with copyright laws. If it was created before 1978 and you are sure no copyright has been put on it (which looks likely), then it is correct. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 19:21, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
Yes, thanks.
I guess user 208.127.154.159 is not going to stop. The other user helping to get the article more wiki-fied did a good job but the anon user went back and started deleting again. The article is so sliced and diced now that parts of it are disjointed sentences. Thanks for trying though.Tss8071 (talk) 06:41, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
His/her edits seem to have been reverted, I have given a standard WP:3RR warning for now. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 19:31, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi, I have the IP 69.11.88.137. I have no idea who Tss8071 is and I am not a sock puppet account. Please remove that designation from my IP, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.11.88.137 (talk) 22:47, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

If you are not Tss8071 then please register a account to avoid further irrelevant notices which do not apply to you. However, edits have been made by this IP in the past which are suspicious, particularly this: [3] same tone, word use and opinion as Tss8071. It is also interesting that this IP user knows exactly where to go for posting comments on templates added to his/her user page - even the same section was used on my talk page as Tss8071. A request for your consideration regarding CAT:AOTR

...My guinea pigs and the "A"s through "O"s having felt this message was OK to go forward with (or at least not complained bitterly to me about it :) ), today it's the turn of the "P"s through "S"s! I'm hoping that more of you chaps/chapettes will point to their own criteria instead of mine :)... it's flattering but a bit scary! :) Also, you may want to check back to the table periodically, someone later than you in the alphabet may have come up with a nifty new idea. (I think I missed you the first time round when I did the "C"s as you weren't an admin yet, congrats on your passing RfA) ++Lar: t/c 04:20, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, yes I think your concerns are very valid - I have already had a taster of the controversy surrounding this category at my RFA, but I still agreed to put myself in this category as I have done. I am currently writing my own criteria which will be placed at User:Camaron1/Admin recall/Policy, it will be a personalised mix of ideas people have put in their own criteria, including yours. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 19:36, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Just as a courtesy, I feel you were a little bit heavy handed in a six month block. I had already commented to WP:AIV that this user had not been given any kind of warning before being sent to AIV. While I certainly appreciate swift justice for vandals going back to their old games only days after returning from a block, should they not at least get one warning...per policy? Trusilver (talk) 20:32, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Unblocked, I think it was timing. I blocked the user before I could see that comment on WP:AIV and after you left the warning on the talk page by the looks of things. Hence, I thought the user had edited after a final warning, and 6 months was given as standard as previous block was 3 months. Thanks for telling me. Camaron1 | Chris (talk) 20:55, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
No worries, I'm still keeping an eye on him as that I have a pessimistic feeling that the block will be back in place come this time tommorow. Have a good day. Trusilver (talk) 21:04, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Slightly belated gratz

Congratulations. Here are what pass for words of wisdom from the puppy:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. You will always pick the wrong one to do. (See #5)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll.
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
  6. and finally, Remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

Hello

Song Duk-ki It is POV pushing version. You keep Wrong version. please, rever this. and keep Based on FACT version. Manacpowers (talk) 20:56, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Dispute is not exist. What is the dispute? He is a POV pusher. Manacpowers (talk) 21:00, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

This is reason that i think RogueNinja is a POV pusher. for example, 1. His arts became the basis of the original form of Taekwondo. -> he changed this sentence like this, Later, his style helped inspire Taekwondo. 2. thus clearly distinguishing Taekwondo from the Japanese karate. -> He deleted this sentence. 3. He major delete imortant article. At that time 14 terms of techniques were used, representing 5 kicking patterns, 4 hand techniques, 3 pushing-down-the-heel patterns, one turning-over kick pattern and 1 technique of downing-the-whole-body. Also noteworthy is the use the term "poom" which signified a face-to-face stance preparing for a fight. The masters of Taekkyondo were also under constant threat of imprisonment, which resulted in an eventual of Taekkyondo as popular games. This is important article. It is cleary Karate JPOV pushing edit.(he try to hide TKD influenced by tekkyon) not english matter.(it is an ostensible reason) Plase, check my edit from reference source. my edit based on fact. his changing is not based on fact. also he did not offer counterpart source or FACT.Manacpowers (talk) 21:02, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

The dispute is over the content of the article, if there is not a dispute, then why was there an edit war going on? Please see my comments on the articles talk page on the version I protected. Also, please stop making accusations against people, review WP:AGF. Camaron | Chris (talk) 21:06, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

RfA Thanks

Hi Camaron - thanks for your participation in my request for adminship. It passed 52/0/0, and I'm now in possession of a shiny new mop (and pleased to join you as a member of the Admin class of January 2008). If I can ever help you with anything, please don't hesitate to contact me. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 09:06, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Rudget!

Dear Camaron, my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. The very best of luck for 2008 and beyond, Rudget. 16:24, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Looking at your recent admin actions, I think you having adminship has already been a benefit to Wikipedia. Good luck! Camaron | Chris (talk) 18:49, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Renaming of schools

Congratulations on being made an admin. I would have voted for you if I'd known you were going to stand. I wonder if you might be able to help. There is an editor who has started a mass re-naming of schools. A number of English schools have been affected. There does not appear to have been any discussion and in view of the fact that the naming conventions policy had no consensus there seems to be no rationale for moving them. I'm now not sure of the procedure to move them all back again. Is it something you might be able to help with. You will be able to pick them up at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/WikiProject Schools articles by quality log. The editor has already had a few comments on his talk page but you might like to keep an eye on the situation. Dahliarose (talk) 21:14, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, I am glad you support my adminship, also thanks for letting me know. The user behind this seems to have stopped - after realising his actions are controversial, however I will keep an eye on the log. Camaron | Chris (talk) 12:06, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Many thanks. Is there some way you can use your rollback tool to revert the changes that the user made to the English schools so that they all go back to their original names? Dahliarose (talk) 17:23, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Per policy, I can only really use rollback in cases of vandalism or if the user agrees for me to make the reverts. I would for the time being rather to see how WP:NC(S) turn out then make further page moves in-line with what will hopefully be an accepted guideline, as a particular version for this proposal has not been agreed upon yet. For the English schools, I would suggest we encourage the user to self-revert if he has not already done so. Camaron | Chris (talk) 19:42, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I see you have reverted all the page moves for the English schools, hopefully this user will not object and that will solve the issue. Camaron | Chris (talk) 13:18, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
It was easier than I thought and there weren't that many. I've left a note on the editor's talk page and asked him to discuss page moves first before proceeding. I think he realises his mistake and is now steering clear of the UK schools. Dahliarose (talk) 14:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

thx

Question

If I were to copy the protect code from a page and apply it to, say my page, would it still protect the page, even though I'm not an admin? Just curious. Dustitalk 19:52, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello again. In answer to your question no it wouldn't, the code on the page is only for the templates used to mark protection of the page. You need to go to a special page and press a few buttons to actually protect a page. There would be a big vandalism/disruption potential if anyone could protect a page by adding a code. Camaron | Chris (talk) 20:34, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. Just wondering, and no, I don't have an evil plans in the future ;). Thanks again... Happy Editing, Dustitalk 17:09, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Question for you

Hi Camaron, thank you for closing the WP:AfD on Hidden Valley High School (Grants Pass, Oregon) - My question is as follows, while I've participated in many of these AfD discussions, I've never really come across this particular scenario - what happens if the nominator (myself) realizes after the fact that the nomination is not appropriate - is there a non-administrator way of closing the debate? If so, how exactly does one do that? Thank you again. Cheers! Wisdom89 (talk) 21:11, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome. Non-administrators can (and are welcome to given the common AFD backlog) close AFD discussions, most of the information you need is at Wikipedia:Deletion process. Follow the steps at WP:DELPRO#AFD in the event you want to close a discussion. You can use WP:DPR#NAC on the same page as a guide to when it is appropriate for non-admins to close AFDs, such as in non-controversial nomination withdrawals. Camaron | Chris (talk) 21:23, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

History deletion on school AFD

When the consensus is to delete outright or if there is no mergeable content, I usually delete the history before placing a redirect. In this case, there was no mergeable content. Go on and undelete the history if you want; however, I generally wait until someone has reliable sources and tries to recreate the page with an assertion of notability before doing that. --Coredesat 23:00, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

I think I will leave it for now, though if the article is recreated (for a good reason) the history should be restored. Camaron | Chris (talk) 10:44, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Re:Paul Wight

Don't worry about it. If the vandalism does heat up, then there would be need for protection, but when anon vandalism/good contribs are about 50/50, we should leave it unprotected. That same situation has happened to me once also (protecting the article, going to put a note of it on the WP:RFPP page, and finding that another editor denied it =]). Happy editing! Malinaccier (talk) 16:22, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, yes that is a slightly annoying problem with WP:RFPP! Most cases like this are complicated and different admins can come down to different reasoned conclusions. You convinced me to change my mind, which was helpful, as I am still getting the hang of the tools. Camaron | Chris (talk) 16:30, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I believe it is convention that "fan translations" – unofficial ones – are not permitted on Wikipedia and that it's "Japanese or no English at all." Other party claims that it's the official Japanese titel but I doubt that; stuff gets translated and the precise title isn't always the one used in Japan.

I know that protection is not an endorsement of the current version, though. hbdragon88 (talk) 00:58, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

No the protection is definitely not an endorsement of the current version, and I am leaning towards agreeing with you on the title. The page move warring had to stop though, and it seems to have stimulated discussion on the talk page. I deliberately set the protection to expire after a week, which by then I hope the dispute will be resolved - the page can be unprotected earlier if an agreement is reached. Camaron | Chris (talk) 11:36, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
