Phantom power
Is there a reason you reverted my small edit on the Phantom power page yesterday? Intrinsicanomaly (talk) 01:06, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
@Intrinsicanomaly: Yes. It says that you changed "available phantom-powered" to "availaantom-powered". Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 02:36, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
Oh, oops. I only meant the changes in the next paragraph. Intrinsicanomaly (talk) 08:41, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

I just wanted to say thank you for your work on maintaining the Delphi article. I was coming out to update it and saw you had already addressed a lot of the issues, and it looks like you've been involved for a while. Keep up the good work! Jim McKeeth (talk) 17:40, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

Bridal knight vs bridle knight
Hi, I read your article on the Staunton chess set and enjoyed it. I am currently reading “The Queen’s Gambit” which mentions the Staunton chess set, and my search landed on your article. I also enjoyed the photos of the chess sets and the knights. For the image titled “KnightBrighton.jpg” your caption reads “A ‘bridal knight’ from a Brightron chess set” and I wonder if the ‘bridal’ refers to the horse head’s wearing a bridle, rather than to its being related somehow to a bride? It is the only knight featuring a bridle, possibly a “bridle knight.” For example: [1]
I also wonder if you have misspelled “Brighton” in the same caption, since the image file’s title contains the name “Brighton?”
Thank you, Indyanne (talk) 04:11, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
@Indyanne: You are absolutely right about my spelling errors. It should be a bridle knight. If I spelled it Brightron, that is wrong. But I couldn't find the location of these errors. Are they in Staunton chess set? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 04:22, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
@Bubba73: Yes, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staunton_chess_set in the caption of your photo “KnightBrighton.jpg Indyanne (talk) 05:17, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
@Indyanne: Sorry, nut I still don't see it. In Staunton chess set, under "Knight variations", there is a Brighton knight, third one in the first row. But there is no caption. I searched for "brid" and "Brightron" in the source, and didn't find them. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 06:07, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
@Bubba73: Hi, under Knight Variations, when I select the photo of the bridle knight, top row, third from the left, the photo opens in a slide viewer window (sorry I don’t know the correct term for it) where I see the caption, and other details about the photo, and can click through all of the photos. On the photo page for the bridle knight, I can also click a button for more information that opens a Wikimedia Commons page with a LOT of information about the photo, even metadata about the camera you used. Your knight photos also appear in the article “Knight (chess)” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knight_(chess) Indyanne (talk) 11:47, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Now I see. That was in the photo file, not the article. Fixed now, thanks for noticing that. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 18:08, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Chess
Hello there. I saw you have a Morphy number of 4, which is quite the achievement! I'd imagine mine is probably in double figures, if I even have one. Anyway, you'll see I edited Alessandro Salvio, but I almost immediately hit a wall with trying to expand the article as I can't find much. Would you by any chance have any information on him (in any books) or can you point me in the right direction? Also, you wouldn't by any chance have a copy of the Oxford Companion to Chess? I am trying to get Mikhail Tal up to GA and any information in that book would help. Kind regards, Willbb234Talk (please {{ping}} me in replies) 19:17, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- I don't have much about Salvio but I do have the Oxford Companion. Tal certainly deserves a good article! Is there anything in particular you want? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 20:01, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. Would it possible for you to send a scan/photo of the pages on Tal to me? No worries if you can't. Regards, Willbb234Talk (please {{ping}} me in replies) 15:43, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
Happy New Year!

Thank you for your contributions toward making Wikipedia a better and more accurate place. BoringHistoryGuy (talk) 13:46, 26 December 2020 (UTC) Oneupsmanship: This painting turned the friendly rivalry between Edward Redfield and Elmer Schofield into a feud. Schofield was a frequent houseguest at Redfield's farm, upstream from New Hope, Pennsylvania, and the two would go out painting together, competing to capture the better view. Redfield served on the jury for the 1904 Annual Exhibition of the Carnegie Institute; at which, despite Redfield's opposition, Across the River was awarded the Gold Medal and $1,500 prize. It was not until a 1963 interview that the 93-year-old Redfield revealed the painting as the cause of the 40-year feud between them. Schofield may have painted it in England, but a blindsided Redfield knew that this was a view of the Delaware River, from his own front yard! |
Tifton Residential Historic District pics
FYI, in progress now at Draft:Tifton Residential Historic District, soon to be at Tifton Residential Historic District, an article that will use several of your pic contributions. I happen to be creating articles related to architects Pringle and Smith, and there is a standardized-design Coca-Cola Bottling Plant there (at 820 Love Ave., 31°27′40″N 83°30′24″W / 31.46121°N 83.50658°W, which I also added to List of Coca-Cola buildings and structures; you didn't happen to get a pic of that, did you?). The district article needs a properly formatted "gallery", then should probably include a lot of the contents of Media related to Tifton Residential Historic District at Wikimedia Commons. Thanks for visiting there and contributing all these! --Doncram (talk) 00:39, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Great, I like to know about these things! Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:40, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Good. But hmm, that is the house at 1208 Love Ave., from your 2016 visit there, which appears probably not in the district after all. There is a sketch map on page 32 of 32 in NRHP text document, which seems to show Tift Ave and Love Ave (which run to the north north east) coming up to 12th St. as the north border, but not beyond, and this house is in the next long block btwn 12th and 14th streets. Also, "1208 Love Ave" is not mentioned in the document. So I guess i will use temporary sections (or galleries) in the draft article to list out all the pics and try to determine whether they are in or out. I do understand it's hard to determine, when visiting or even after. Even though the NRHP registration document is relatively recent (2007), it does not include a comprehensive list of all the properties, unfortunately. I would welcome your help in the draft article, e.g. indicating if you agree that 1208 Love Ave. is out or not, etc. --Doncram (talk) 00:55, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Oh well, if I remember I had in my mind that Love Ave seemed to be the main street and I went north and south on it. The one at 1208 is a lot like others. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:59, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Most of the Georgia NRHP forms have been digitized, but that one hasn't, so I didn't have a map. I was going by the description "14th, Goff, & 2nd Sts.& Forrest Ave", so I went from downtown from 2nd to 14th, along Love Ave. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 01:15, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Actually, 1208 Love Ave. is in the district. The sketch map in the text doc is rough. The photos doc ... isn't available. But full copy of NRHP registration including all photos, at National Archives (228 pages!) has a full, proper map at the very end, showing exact outline of the district, and 1208 Love Ave. is inside, yay! I am downloading a full copy (which is slow) by hitting the down-arrow button below the document box in the National Archives view, to be able to work with this more conveniently. This and other Georgia NRHP docs have only become available at National Archives relatively recently, like in the last year or so. --Doncram (talk) 01:24, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Exact addresses found for all 10 of your pics of houses, all confirmed to be in the district, and of course they are all contributing buildings (you wouldn't have taken pics of any of the few non-contributing ones scattered about). I will put in renaming requests for the pics to add the house numbers to the filenames at Commons. I am still browsing other pics of buildings in Tifton, found that a church photographed by User:Mjrmtg in 2014 is in the district too, BTW. Thanks! --Doncram (talk) 02:27, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- That's good work! I sometimes get non-contributing buildings. I usually don't do a lot of research for H.D.s - I go along and photograph what looks like it should belong. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 03:10, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- I checked my photos for Oct 3 and 4, 2015 and I didn't get the Coke bottling plant. I must have gone right by it. I've gotten a couple of Coke plants elsewhere. I will be back in Tifton sometime in the future... Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 03:53, 20 February 2021 (UTC)

Wiki-Map
Don't know if you've used this, but it drops a pin on every Wikipedia article with coordinates. Some are grouped together if they're in proximity. If you set it to satellite view and zoom all the way into Savannah it turns 3D. - Seasider53 (talk) 15:29, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- Wow, I didn't know about that! That will really help when I'm planing a trip to get photos.
- One time in Jacksonville a few years ago I had the coordinates of several places and I decided to do them north to south. At one point I did one and the next one was quite a bit to the west. Then the next one was back close to the first one, only two blocks to the south. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 15:50, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- If you happen to find yourself in the northeastern corner of downtown Savannah, I'd be grateful if you could snap a shot of the single-story row house at 541 to 545 East Congress, which was Jim Williams' first renovation project in 1955. Draw with 2 Knights
Checkmate with 2 knights cannot be forced.
Thus in a real chess game, if it becomes a king versus a king and 2 knights, the arbiter will declare a draw by insufficient material.
I recommend keeping my revision on the article draw (chess) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Agnimandur (talk • contribs)
- It cannot be forced from a general position, but it is not impossible! According to FIDE rules, two knights and a king vs. a king is not a draw. Good sir, I have created the above article. Its predecessor got moved to Draft:Concord's Colonial Inn. I see this draft listed at Talk:Historic Hotels of America/Draft articles, but I'm not well versed in the next step. Might you wave your magic wand? Seasider53 (talk) 13:32, 21 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Seasider53: That was one article of several about Historic Hotels of America. It got moved to draft because there were a large number of them that got moved to draft space (1) because they were short, and (2) the Historic Hotels of America website, used as a source, seemed to be for advertising. Your article is much more than a stub, so I think you are OK. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 20:44, 21 August 2021 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:ReubenFine.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:ReubenFine.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. OEIS sequences A347567 and A347568
The currently name of A347568 is wrong, currently it is "Positive integers which are not twice a triangular number and cannot be written as twice a triangular number plus an odd prime or twice a square plus twice an odd prime.", but it should be "Positive integers which are not twice a triangular number and cannot be written as twice a triangular number plus an odd prime or twice a triangular number plus twice an odd prime."
Also, in A347567 and A347568, 0 is not counted as a square or a triangular number, thus the better name of A347567 is "Positive integers which are not twice a square and cannot be written as twice a positive square plus an odd prime or twice a positive square plus twice an odd prime.", and the better name of A347568 is "Positive integers which are not twice a triangular number and cannot be written as twice a positive triangular number plus an odd prime or twice a positive triangular number plus twice an odd prime."

Revert of the edit to Divisor_function
Hi Bubba, I am surprised that I did not receive any explanation from you regarding the revert. I would be happy to discuss which of the changes you considered incorrect. Most of them looked innocuous to me, so I assume I inadvertently introduced a factual error. I hope for a constructive discussion, and my only goal is to improve the article. Thank you.
Too bad I could not dig out the required citation, but I tucked that on my list, maybe I'll come across one.
Best,
Goudron (talk) 07:55, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Oh shoot me, of course, I see the error, thanks for spotting! Not a double-square, 2×square.
I think https://mathworld.wolfram.com/DivisorFunction.html is a good reference? It does state that, not only for but for all . I'll incorporate that.
Here's something I'd like to run by you, if you don't mind. The property obviously extends to all arguments of of the form (if k is even, then n is a full square; if odd, twice-square). Does it make sense to mention this property? Kind of OR and at the same time very transparent and obvious if you have to play with it in Mathematica because your edit was reverted, but likely far less obvious obvious otherwise :-). What's you take on this?
Thanks again, really appreciate a second pair of eyes.

Rejuvenate WikiProject Skepticism
Hello - my name is Susan Gerbic (Sgerbic) and I'm writing to you because at some point you joined Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism. This might have been months ago - or even years ago. With the best of intentions the project was created years ago, and sadly like many WikiProjects has started to go dormant. A group of us are attempting to revitalize the Skepticism project, already we have begun to clean up the main page and I've just redone the participant page. No one is in charge of this project, it is member directed, which might have been the reason it almost went dormant. We are attempting to bring back conversations on the talk page and have two subprojects as well, in the hopes that it might spark involvement and a way of getting to know each other better. One was created several years ago but is very well organized and a lot of progress was made, Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skeptical organisations in Europe. The other I created a couple weeks ago, it is very simple and has a silly name Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Skepticism Stub Sub-Project Project (SSSPP). This sub-project runs from March 1 to June 1, 2022. We are attempting to rewrite skepticism stubs and add them to this list. As you can see we have already made progress.
The reason I'm writing to you now is because we would love to have you come back to the project and become involved, either by working on one of the sub-projects, proposing your own (and managing it), or just hanging out on the talk page getting to know the other editors and maybe donate some of your wisdom to some of the conversations. As I said, no one is in charge, so if you have something in mind you would like to see done, please suggest it on the talk page and hopefully others will agree. Please add the project to your watchlist, update your personal user page showing you are a proud member of WikiProject Skepticism. And DIVE in, this is what the work list looks like [1] frightening at first glance, but we have already started chipping away at it.
The Wikipedia:WikiProject Skepticism/Participants page has gone though a giant change - you may want to update your information. And of course if this project no longer interests you, please remove your name from the participant list, we would hate to see you go, but completely understand.
Thank you for your time, I hope to edit with you in the future.Sgerbic (talk) 06:53, 17 March 2022 (UTC)

You're my go-to guy on the subject of chess. I'm just curious whether you've ever seen a chess set like File:Wooden chess set 2021 03 20.jpg. Data for exponents of primes in multiply perfect numbers
Hi, right now I am at a strong interest with prime factorizations of multiperfect numbers. Last time I used a different account for Wikipedia but I forgot my password to log in. So I created a new one that I can remember my password for.
What I am wanting you to do is interpret the data with the exponents of the first 4 primes in the known multiperfect numbers. Below is the place for you to do it:
User:Ar Colorado/My useful information
On the page with the link above, I want you to fill in the rest of the cells of all 4 tables that are empty. I already filled in the data for abundancies 2, 3, and 4 in all 4 tables. The rest of the tables is unfilled and I am currently waiting for you to fill all the empty cells. Below are the calculators to do it:
And the place to look at the numbers is here. It shows the prime factorization of every single known multiperfect number. Note that the leftmost character of each line is a letter that shows the abundancy of the number, so b means a number with abundancy 2, c means a number with abundancy 3, and so on. I just want to know the median, mean, mode, and standard deviation for the first 4 primes in the known multiperfect numbers for each separate abundancy. For example, if you are collecting data with 6-perfect numbers, you look only at those with f at the left of each line and interpret the data with the two calculators given.
Also please use population standard deviation for my data. Good luck on collecting data! Ar Colorado (talk) 15:41, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- Let me think about it. It has been quite a while since I have dealt with these. But I think I still have the programs I wrote for them. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 16:54, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- Are you the person who was asking for more 11-perfect numbers? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 21:35, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- In order to answer your question, yes, I was the person who was asking you for 11-perfect numbers. But unfortunately, I forgot my password for my old account, so I created a new one. I will remember my password for my account. But I still want you to fill in the missing boxes in the tables on this page. Use the link at the bottom of that page to help you do it. Ar Colorado (talk) 13:01, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
- Then will you please use the programs for me anyway? Ar Colorado (talk) 17:00, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
- Are you the person who was asking for more 11-perfect numbers? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 21:35, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

Theophilus Thompson
Hello Bubba73,
after I've seen the article about the chess composer Theophilus Thompson on the Website "The Chess Drums", I think the Wikipedia-article should be revised. The new findings about his biography change the content of this article completely.77.118.144.118 (talk) 15:33, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
@77.118.144.118: I worked on that article some a long time ago, but I didn't have much information. Maybe you should tell about this on the chess project page, wp:Wikipedia:WikiProject Chess. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 20:40, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing en passant
Thanks for fixing en passant. I reverted only a small party of a bad edit and missed the bulk, a bad oversight. Quale (talk) 00:07, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- So many people think they know the rules (and some people are disruptive). I directed USCF scholastic tournaments for several years, and I heard all sorts of things, often with "my brother said..." or "my father said...". Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:13, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

Sunbury, Georgia
Hey Bubba73, as a resident of south Georgia like myself, I was wondering if you'd heard of Sunbury, Georgia, a colonial ghost town in Liberty County. I did some work on expanding the article a while back and would love to see the article reach GA status at some point, and in that vein was wondering if it was something you'd want to look over. I left a pretty sizable further reading section that I intend to go through in-depth soon and possibly incorporate some information into the article, and I know a second set of eyes is always helpful in article editing. Either way, I just thought it'd be something you might be interested in based on your work on historical sites in the area. Thanks, -JJonahJackalope (talk) 17:09, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I've heard of it, but I don't know much about it. It is near Fort Morris Historic Site. I took photos at Fort Morris a few years ago and it seems like I took a photo of a historical marker for Sunbury. I'll see if I can find it and I will look over the article. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:32, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
- I looked at photos I took the day I went to Fort Morris in 2015, but I didn't find any photos. (There is a marker at 3048 Fort Morris Road.) Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:43, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
Correction
Hello there fellow editor! I would like to clarify that even though I wrote "circa 1900s" in the Wikipedia page on Turpentine, I did not confirm myself that it was from the 1900s; I just corrected the text as it looked a bit lengthy to read. E3C4B1 (talk) 10:30, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- @E3C4B1: The turpentine in that bottle was made the way they made it in the early 1900s, but that bottle was made at a demonstration at the Georgia Agrirama in the 1980s (by my father) - where they were demonstrating the old way of making it. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 05:09, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Ohh I see. I may have misinterpreted the sentencing there as I thought it was made in the 1900s, so I corrected the text to shorten it. I did not know that it was distilled in the 80s the way it was done in the 1900s. I will try not to repeat it again. E3C4B1 (talk) 05:17, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- @E3C4B1: My father and his brothers made McCranie's Turpentine Still in the late 1930s. They had little money so they made it in the old style used in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The Georgia Agrirama opened in 1976 and they got one of these old-style stills. They started a yearly demonstration of it (I think they still do). My father was one of the few people who knew how to run the still. He did the demos until the late 1980s, when he taught someone else how to do it. That bottle of turpentine is from one of his demonstrations. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 06:01, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
I wonder how it must feel to see a picture of the turpentine your father has distilled. It must feel proud for you to have so much knowledge about it even after so many years, and be able to inform others about it. Happy editing! :) E3C4B1 (talk) 06:12, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
- I took the picture. I had the bottle of turpentine until I gave it to one of my cousins a year or two ago. He lives close to our old still and is collecting artifacts. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 06:22, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Your OEIS account
Do you have an account that you use on the OEIS wiki website? 50.24.26.218 (talk) 23:29, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
- The reason why I asked you this is because I was wanting you to tell Achim Flammenkamp on the OEIS wiki for more multiply perfect numbers. George Woltman started discovering them in 1997 and then restarted discovering them in 2021. He is probably still working on discovering new multiply perfect numbers today. On the empty page with this link, please tell Achim Flammenkamp to update the database of multiply perfect numbers that he has stored on the page of multiply perfect numbers (this will happen on June 30, 2022). If Woltman has discovered multiperfect numbers this year, the multiperfect numbers that he has discovered this year in 2022 include many 10-perfect numbers, a few 9-perfect numbers, or possibly even an 11-perfect number. I really want Flammenkamp to update the database that currently shows 5772 multiply perfect numbers in June 30, 2022 to display all of the multiply perfect numbers that were discovered in the first half of 2022. Anyway, I really really want to see the new multiply perfect numbers that Woltman has discovered this year, so please do so by creating the talk page on the OEIS wiki for Flammenkamp. - Let them do what they want to do. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 02:39, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- But what I need you to do is contact Achim Flammenkamp on the OEIS wiki by creating a talk page for him. Please let him do the work of updating the database of known multiply perfect numbers as of June 30, 2022. I highly want to see the prime factorizations of the newly discovered multiply perfect numbers this year. Please do so before the month ends. And by the way, I'm sorry for not logging in when I first asked you this question above. Ar Colorado (talk) 21:39, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
- What about basically send an email to Achim Flammenkamp to update the database of known multiperfect numbers on his page of multiply perfect numbers on June 30, 2022? I really want to see the newly discovered multiperfect numbers. Ar Colorado (talk) 02:05, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- No, if I created a talk page for him on OEIS wiki, he is unlikely to read it. Why don't you contact him? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 03:07, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
- Because I am unable to. My account does not currently allow me to access to Gmail. I need you to send a Gmail message to Achim Flammenkamp to update the multiperfect numbers database on his page of multiply perfect numbers tomorrow so he can easily read it and do it tomorrow. Please contact him on Gmail before it is too late. Ar Colorado (talk) 12:44, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, I've helped you all I can. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 15:33, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
- Oh well, guess I'd just have to wait until next year to see the new multiperfect numbers. Ar Colorado (talk) 02:19, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

Ahmaud Arbery Mural
Hello there! I'm wondering if I could request permission to use your photo in an upcoming documentary. Do you have a good email to contact you at? AshPics05 (talk) 16:36, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
@AshPics05: There is a major problem with doing that. The permission would have to come from the artist who painted the mural (which in fact, was based on a portrait photograph). When I asked him, the artist declined to give permission for it to be freely used. So I can't give permission, but you might try to contact him. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 03:30, 8 October 2022 (UTC)

There is currently a discussion going on about finding an 11-perfect number on the talk page of Multiply perfect number. Please see the talk page. Fomfeider (talk) 20:05, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
- Did you look at all of the multiply perfect numbers in the links that I provided in the talk page Talk:Multiply perfect number? Fomfeider (talk) 13:02, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- I've looked at some of them but not at all of them. But they are pretty large numbers and they get harder and harder to find. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 17:05, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
- Are you going to try to find an 11-perfect number for me? Fomfeider (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 13:07, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
- No! It would take a great deal of effort and would have a low chance of success. You can try to find one. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:34, 5 November 2021 (UTC)
- OK, I will try to find an 11-perfect number. But first, what power of 2 can I start with when finding one? Fomfeider (talk) 14:56, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- It is not necessarily true that the power of 2 in the next 11-multiperfect number is larger than the power of 2 in the known one. It is probably the case but it might not actually be that way. It will take a lot of work. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 16:52, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- No, it also takes a lot of skill and know what you are doing. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 16:29, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- Can you give me ideas of what power of 2 that I can use for my 11-perfect number? Maybe around 450 or 550? Fomfeider (talk) 17:08, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- Maybe, but I don't know any way to tell. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 17:57, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- If you are confused on the power of 2 that I can use, look at this graph: http://wwwhomes.uni-bielefeld.de/achim/mpn5.gif Fomfeider (talk) 19:02, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- Maybe, but I don't know any way to tell. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 17:57, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
I'm not confused - I just don't know. What method are you going to use to try to find another solution? Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:29, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
I suggest that you test your program on 6- or 7-multiperfect numbers before trying 11-multiperfect numbers. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:17, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- I don't even know how to program these type of numbers. Maybe I'll just try to find a 11-perfect number by trial-and-error on prime exponents to see what works and what doesn't in the factorization. Fomfeider (talk) 14:16, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- That is extremely unlikely to succeed. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 22:28, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- Maybe another Wikipedian can find an 11-perfect number for me. Fomfeider (talk) 17:13, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- All I can do to help you is tell you that it is very hard. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 21:52, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- So finding an 11-perfect number is completely luck-based. Fomfeider (talk) 15:37, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- No, it will also take a lot of work, skill, knowledge, and computer power. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 17:30, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- I understand, computer power is especially useful for numbers that take forever to completely factor in the factorization in the elliptical curve method. Most 11-perfect numbers would take forever to completely factor in that program. Fomfeider (talk) 18:05, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
How difficult do you think it is to discover an 11-perfect number? Fomfeider (talk) 15:45, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
Hello, I'm back on this discussion on multiperfect numbers here. Earlier this month, I was looking again at the multiply perfect numbers website At that time I found out that more 9- and 10-perfect numbers have been discovered in the past year. I searched through the list of known multiperfect numbers and found some numbers discovered in 2021. Here is the link: the prime factorizations of the known multiply perfect numbers. I looked through the prime factorizations of the newly discovered multiperfect numbers and most of them were interesting. It always starts with an power of 2, then a power of 3, a power of 5, and so on. I was looking at their prime factorizations to give me a general idea of how I can find an 11-multiperfect number. I would have to give more effort on the prime exponents of an 11-perfect number in order to discover a new one than other people had to on a 10-perfect number to discover more. Fomfeider (talk) 18:40, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
- I think that for the first few prime factors generally have decreasing exponents but then a few other prime factors pop up. I don't know the actual process they use for those large ones, but I'm sure it takes a lot of work. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:50, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
- It is that you take the largest prime factor of 2n-1 and add 1 to the largest prime factor. Then you take the prime factorization of that number which is 1 more than the largest prime factor. Then for each of the prime factors in that factorization, take 1 more than each of the primes and do the prime factorizations of those numbers. Then keep doing the process until you have no more primes to fill in. That is how the large prime numbers appear in a multiperfect number. Fomfeider (talk) 14:08, 15 February 2022 (UTC)
Want to hear some good news? Ar Colorado (talk) 13:06, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, always welcome. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:04, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- A new 11-perfect number has been found!! I checked the website two days ago and looked at the new multiperfect numbers that have been added to a text file on it. Ar Colorado (talk) 12:54, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
- On Tuesday I saw the list of newly discovered multiperfect numbers in 2022 on the mentioned website. It included an 8-perfect number, 34 9-perfect numbers, 124 10-perfect numbers, and even an 11-perfect number. I am so happy that another 11-perfect number has been discovered! I've been wishing for more numbers like that since the beginning of last year.
- So what do you think about that? How do you feel about me? Ar Colorado (talk) 20:15, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
It takes a lot of work to do that. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 20:50, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
- It sure does. George Woltman found a whole bunch of these numbers and worked very hard to find them. Ar Colorado (talk) 22:21, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Here is the link to see the newly discovered numbers by George Woltman in 2022: http://wwwhomes.uni-bielefeld.de/achim/mpn_current.txt
- You can find the 11-perfect number at the very bottom of the page given where the line above the very last number in the list begins with the letter 'k'. You will see the prime factorization of the newly discovered 11-perfect number there. Ar Colorado (talk) 16:30, 19 October 2022 (UTC)
- Did you see the prime factorization of the new 11-perfect number? Ar Colorado (talk) 19:44, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- I looked at the newly discovered multiperfect numbers many times and their prime factorizations were quite entertaining to me. Did you see them? Ar Colorado (talk) 20:43, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- I haven't seen the newest ones yet, but I know what you are talking about. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 22:21, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- Just go to this link to see them: http://wwwhomes.uni-bielefeld.de/achim/mpn_current.txt. On that page you'll find the numbers that I'm talking about. Ar Colorado (talk) 01:28, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- I haven't seen the newest ones yet, but I know what you are talking about. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 22:21, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- Are you going to email George Woltman for more 11-perfect numbers? Ar Colorado (talk) 15:34, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
- No. He may be working on it. Otherwise it is a lot of work. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 16:39, 14 December 2022 (UTC)
- I printed a list of 8-perfect numbers online in the previous days and started to realize how difficult it is to discover even an 8-perfect number. So that's definitely not worthy of trying to discover an 11-perfect number if I can't even manage to discover a single 8-perfect number. This task would be wayyy too difficult for me. Ar Colorado (talk) 15:14, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- I tried to tell you that. Finding one with n+1 terms is a considerable factor harder than one with n terms. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 15:47, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'm still looking at the prime factorizations of all known 8-perfect numbers, and I get the idea of how their prime factorizations work, but just can't find one all on my own. That said, trying to find a 10-perfect number or an 11-perfect number would not be worth it for me or for you. Ar Colorado (talk) 21:02, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Dear Bubba,
I am Professor Kevin Murphy of Vanderbilt University (kevin.d.murphy@vanderbilt.edu) and I am publishing a book that discusses Jean League Newton and her mother Ellamae Ellis League. I saw one view of the League house taken by you, online, and I wonder if you have any photos of the rear of the house, which is what I would like to illustrate. If so, would you mind emailing me at the above address? Thank you!!

@Howcheng: Well, it was used in Piatigorsky Cup until it was replaced today. I think the 1966 photo is more important because of the players. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 18:05, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
- It may be more important, but as per WP:NFCC, when we have a free alternative that serves the same purpose (in this case, providing an image of the event), then we need to use it. Having an image that includes other players doesn't really give the reader a greater understanding of the event. Thanks. —holly {chat} 19:02, 1 May 2023 (UTC)
@Howcheng: OK. That photo is clearer, free, and not reduced. It does show two of the top players and the Piatigorskys - just not as many of the players. So I'm OK with the change. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:59, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:Glenn Phillips, Echos book.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Glenn Phillips, Echos book.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:03, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
The file File:Mel Bay Modern Guitar Method book.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-free book cover being used in a WP:DECORATIVE manner in Mel Bay#Mel Bay Publications which fils WP:NFCC#8. Non-free book covers are generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about the books they represent, but their uses in other articles or in other ways is generally only allowed when the cover itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use. There is no such commentary for this particular book cover anywhere in the Bay article, thus there's really no jiustification for it's non-free use.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:11, 2 June 2023 (UTC)

The file File:James Brown on the T.A.M.I. show.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Non-free image being used in a WP:DECORATIVE manner in T.A.M.I. Show#List of performers. Non-free images like this aren't generally allowed to illustrate list-like sections of articles unless the image itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained WP:NFC#CS or seeing the image signifcantly improves the reader's understanding of subject matter to the degree that non seeing it would be detrimental to that understanding. This image shows Brown as he appeared on the show, but he was just one of many perfomrers who appeared on the show and a non-free image of him doesn't need to be seen for the reader to understand he appeared on the show. The reader doesn't need to see how Brown goes down on his knee, especially since there's no sourced critical commentary of Brown's appearance and him going down on his knee.

Image copyright problem with File:Bird scuptures.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Bird scuptures.jpg.
This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.
Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. — Ирука13 23:37, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
Hello. If you think this file is no longer useful for Wikipedia, set template {{db-author}} on its description page, please. — Ирука13 13:52, 14 September 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert. It's an oddity in my opinion, TTY's aren't made or used any more so past tense seems appropriate, but it's not a hill to die on. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 21:39, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, but the manual of style says to talk about them in the present tense. They still exist but I don't know if any are still used. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:45, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
From teleprinter: "Teleprinters are still widely used in the aviation industry (see AFTN and airline teletype system),[3] and variations called Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf (TDDs) are used by the hearing impaired for typed communications over ordinary telephone lines. - True indeed, though I'd be surprised if they are actual Teletype Model 33's - though strangers things have been known to occur, like the US missile silos using 8" floppy disks all they way up to 2019!! cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 01:15, 9 October 2023 (UTC)

Photo of Melvin E. Thompson, Governor
I've got much better pictures of my grandfather. How do I change the current introduction photo? Newton61 (talk) 22:37, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
@Newton61: I knew M.E. Thompson, Jr in Valdosta, in the bridge club. We would like to have the photo. There is an issue with the copyright. If you are the copyright holder, or if it is in the public domain, you can upload it to WikimediaCommons.org or to Wikipedia.org. If neither of those hold, I think there are two alternatives: 1. Upload it to Wikipedia.org and claim that it is a fair use for the article about him 2. If someone else owns the copyright, there is a release form that they can sign, allowing anyone to use it, and then it can be uploaded to WikimediaCommons. Getting this release filled out and signed can be a hassle. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:50, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
And once it is uploaded to either of those, it is easy to edit the article to use the new photo. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 23:52, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- That was my father. He was a pretty good bridge player. I have photos of all sorts. Most came from the family. I will look into getting a better picture of him. The current one is not good quality. Tarkenton Thompson. Newton61 (talk) 00:07, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
@Newton61: Yes, I know the current is not good. Your father was the highest-ranked bridge player in Valdosta when I was playing there, 1986-1994. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:12, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- That's news to me, and very cool. I knew he was very good, as he traveled a fair amount playing in tournaments. Mom didn't like it so much. Dad was a very smart man. Flattered for him to hear this. Newton61 (talk) 00:25, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:KeresFischer1959BledCT.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:KeresFischer1959BledCT.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vanjagenije (talk) 22:13, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:LuzhinDefense.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:LuzhinDefense.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:31, 4 July 2024 (UTC)
