If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ICON Advisers, Inc. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Phearson (talk) 23:24, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of ICON Advisers, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.linkedin.com/companies/icon-advisers.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) Conflict of interest

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article ICON Advisers, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Borkificator (talk) 20:10, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ICON Advisers

[edit]

I see that you posted your article a third time. Another user has edited it to, as he put it, "remove copyrighted marketing fluff". The resulting version does not have immediate copyright/advertisement problems, but there are still issues of notability and conflict of interest, so I have moved it into your user space at User:Brookfieldj/ICON Advisers where you can work on it.

  • Notability. Wikipedia does not expect to have an article about every company. The criterion for admission is called Notability, which is not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have other people, independent of the subject, thought it significant enough to write substantial comment about? More detail in Notability (organizations and companies).
  • Conflict of interest. As an anyone-can edit site, Wikipedia is very vulnerable to being used for promotion, and is extremely resistant to it. Articles submitted by people with a COI are not automatically deleted, but are subject to close scrutiny to make sure that they meet the notability requirement and are not promotional. Please read the guide to WP:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest and How not to be a spammer.
  • You should also understand that if you submit an article about your firm you will not own it, and will not be able to control its content or to insist on your preferred version - see Wikipedia's law of unintended consequences.

If you want to proceed, first you will need to find independent references to establish notability. If you wish, you can ask for comments on the draft at WP:Requests for feedback, declaring your interest. Then, do not re-post the article yourself, but approach user Diannaa (talk), the administrator who protected the title after your first re-creation, for permission to post the article. If s/he does not agree, you can apply at WP:Deletion review. JohnCD (talk)

A tag has been placed on User:Brookfieldj/ICON Advisers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
