Hi there, BostonMensa. I have been looking through all the biographies of women you have recently created. Although you have been tagging them with WIR banners, as far as I can see you are not yet a member of Women in Red. You can join by registering in the box at the top of the page. Keep up the good work. It's a great help in reducing the gender gap. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 09:04, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Cats are definitely not my strong point, but I don't see where any of the other cats in that article overlap Arizona politicians. What did I miss? Onel5969 TT me 16:26, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

the category Arizona state senators means by definition they are an Arizona politician. BostonMensa (talk) 16:48, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. But I don't think that's what duplication of cats means. My understanding is that for that to be true, Arizona politicians would be a sub-category of Arizona State Senators, which it is not. The only reason I bring this up, is that I was not adding the AZ pol cat to my articles, but another editor, who does extensive cat work, began to add it to all my articles. Onel5969 TT me 21:19, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t remember if I said duplicate or redundant. To me it is no different than putting a series of categories for Mayor Of Boston, Mayors in Eastern Massachusetts, Mayors In Massachusetts, Mayors in Southern New England, Mayors in the NE US, Mayors in the US, Mayors in North America, Mayors in the Western Hemisphere all the way up to Mayora in the Milky Way. At some point you say enough is enough. BostonMensa (talk) 23:30, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting back to me. After I left my message above, I asked a question over on the Cat project page. We are both right. . But in the end, AZ State Senators is a Subcat subcat subcat subcat of Arizona politicians. So I'll no longer add it. Thanks again. Onel5969 TT me 23:44, 21 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I wanted to let you know you don't need to add your signature if just adding a WikiProject banner to talk pages, like at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Ashley_Merriman&oldid=1118788321. Ah! It's no harm, so probably not worth digging into. :) Must be some automated script somewhere! -Kj cheetham (talk) 12:39, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hawaiian Airlines Flight 35

[edit]

WP:NOTNEWS means that yes, the article is about something in the news, but no, enwiki is not a newspaper, and things which are in the news but are unlikely to have WP:SUSTAINED coverage shouldn't have an article anyway. Having 3, 4, 5 news articles as sources doesn't invalidate a NOTNEWS deletion. Fram (talk) 21:17, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the link provided and chose my words based on what it said there. I was making a distinction between an airline crash that received that kind of coverage versus an automobile accident with, at worse minor injuries to maybe two people and which is not wiki worthy. This article may or not be as well but I saw it being newsworthy based on the criteria I saw there. Take it to AFD since the prod was contested. I will not argue with the consensus. BostonMensa (talk) 21:34, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Bottom line, you cited the not news link. I haven’t looked at the sustained link but if it says what I think it does, and you had cited that, I would have left the prod. I simply didn’t agree with your argument. BostonMensa (talk) 21:37, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, David Ladner, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. Right now it only has one, and that one is iffy (Inside Hook). The Long Island Restaurant News is a press release, and the other two are brief mentions of him. Speedy deletion nomination of Butter Restaurant

[edit]

Hello BostonMensa,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Butter Restaurant for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jeff Nace requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Martin “Ed” Ragain, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Fram (talk) 15:08, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It looks as if you created the Ragain page by a copy-paste move, instead of simply moving the original page (with its history) to the correct title. In this case, nothing needs to be done as it was a terrible page to start with and didn't belong on enwiki anyway, but in the future please move the page instead of creating a new page by copying the text. Notice

The article *Kandiss Taylor has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

She's not notable per GNG or NPOL. Page should be created at Kandiss Taylor if she ever becomes notable

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:48, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Julie E. Buring has been accepted

[edit]
Julie E. Buring, which you submitted to Articles for creation, has been created.

Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.

The article has been assessed as Stub-Class, which is recorded on its talk page. It is commonplace for new articles to start out as stubs and then attain higher grades as they develop over time. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.

Since you have made at least 10 edits over more than four days, you can now create articles yourself without posting a request. However, you may continue submitting work to Articles for creation if you prefer.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to ask at the help desk. Once you have made at least 10 edits and had an account for at least four days, you will have the option to create articles yourself without posting a request to Articles for creation.

If you would like to help us improve this process, please consider leaving us some feedback.

Thanks again, and happy editing!

Hello, BostonMensa. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Gary Sullivan".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 20:04, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
