Just got started and I am somewhat overwhelmed
[edit](ODinfo 00:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC)) All the info about Otto D. is from his son who lives in New York State. He would like to have people be aware of his father's art work. I am attempting to put facts about his father on this site. Thanks for your interest.
ODinfo
Thanks for answering
[edit](ODinfo 00:39, 18 June 2007 (UTC)) I am wondering exactly what references and sources Peter the son of Otto D. would have to come up with to substantiate the facts of his father's Artist life. Peter is 80 years old and I accept what he says as fact. If someone were to read the article and disagreed with a fact then I cpould see that the burden of proof would be necessary. I probably should not have sent the internet address of the article to him - he was absolutely excited and considered my effort to be the best Father's Day gift he had ever received.
Should we or should we not!
[edit](ODinfo 00:47, 18 June 2007 (UTC))
We thought it would be appropriate to put jpegs of some of Otto D.'s art work in the OD article Peter has photos of some of his father's paintings and would like to share them with those people who appreciate 20th century art in the form of oil paintings
Once again overwhelmed with all the details - I have lots of reading to do and a lot to learn
[edit]By the way how can I put Otto Dünkelsbühler in the category of German Paintings and have it LISTED by hid last name not his first. Each time I try a category inclusin his name comes up in the "0" and not the "D" listing.
Thanks so much for listening.

Doug Bollen Page
[edit]You have deleted the Doug Bollen page. Bollen is an important UK radical activist with a unique approach to activism and green issues. He is a key figure in the UK green movement and an individual of similar stature and public interest to The Reverend and Right Honourable Ian Paisley, who qualifies for a Wikipaedia page.
Why has this article been deleted with little time to begin to assemble a case for the preservation of the article?
Mark Hudson - the truth.
[edit]I can't work out wiki to save my life so I'm replying to you here!
This article in "The Mouse Betrayed" is taken directly from the book. Look, this guy is in actual fact a real menace to women and we are just putting a lot of conjecture to rest.
People want to know the truth and the story was reported in the LA Times, again it is reproduced here. If you contact the LA Times the back issue with the story in it can be obtained.
We shall continue to post this story until people in the industry sit up and listen.
Danielle is traumatised by her experience and people should be aware that this man has a past - unsavoury as it may be - and should be treated with caution. Especially as his job involves long periods in a studio alone with young girls.
The real reason he was sacked from the English TV show was because of this - not for the published reason stated. Simon Cowell wanted to distance himself from this man as quickly as possible as the age limit for the next series has been reduced to 14.
I'm sure you are acting in wiki's best interests but we have an issue with a completely truthful story not being aired to a wider public.

Greetings from Lithuania
[edit]Hi there,
I would like to respond to your comments regarding musician IJO. Yes, he is not signed by any major label, however he is a very notable in Lithuania, Latvia and now he is climbing his career ladder in UK. He is about to finish his third album, he also creates music for various advertisements. There are many less notable bands on the Wiki and none of them gets deleted (the majority of them are rock bands, with primitive experience). I understand your position against electronic music, however IJO's music is not techno'ish whatsoever. It is called IDM, intelligent dance music.
With regards, Denis
- If he's notable, find some sources to prove this as per WP:MUSIC. Notability doesn't mean anything unless it can be verified; if you have any sources please list these in the article and leave a little note at the AFD page. As for 'other, less notable bands/groups/artist/performers/etc'; they are likely to get deleted as soon as someone tags them as such. Not being tagged for deletion is not the same as conforming to policies, but currently Wikipedia have several million articles and only a few thousand editors, so such things are likely to take some time. How to Learn Wikipedia Data Entry/How To Enter Correct Link For Person With Wikipedia
[edit]Hi Chris:
Here's are my problems--
(1) I am not an experienced Wikipedia user, insofar as I have not entered much information to Wikipedia because I find it very difficult to follow the directions for doing such. But I have found that I can add/correct basic information that I know to be correct by using something called the "Cheatsheet." Is there a course that one may take to learn how to enter data on Wikipedia? I always find it easier to learn either by trial & error or by having something explained directly by a person, not from self-help pages.
(2) Specifically, my problem now is that I have made two edits to the entry for a certain person within a Wikipedia page on the TV station for which he once worked. The first was to correct the current spelling (which I knew to be inaccurate and was no problem correcting), the second edit is to link this person's name to the correct Wikipedia page for him. For the purposes of this query, I shall call him "John Doe." When I enter it thusly--"John Doe," with the appropriate "[[ ]]" on each end of the name--it goes to another "John Doe," who is a classical music composer. The "John Doe" I wish to link is a veteran TV sportscaster. Please advise on how to do this.
On the off chance that the talk page you state you send your replies to isn't the one I believe one accesses by clicking on "my talk" above & next to my username, please send an e-mail to me at: jimmo531 at Yahoo DotCom, and type Chris-WIKI in the subject field.
Thank you.

How To Send Message To Another Wikipedia User
[edit]Hi again, Chris:
By the way, I went into my user preferences and checked the box to enable messages to be sent to my e-mail account from other Wikipedia users (mainly so you could contact me by that method), but I noticed on the previous entry I made on your talk page that there is no link-to/hyperlink associated with my username at the end of the entry.
So how does one generally send a message to a fellow Wikipedia user who has enabled the e-mail option?
I am confused by this??
Thank you.

Re: Mark Hudson
[edit]Hi Bjelleklang, today an anon IP edited the Mark Hudson page, deleting a very large chunk of information. While on Vandal Patrol, I reverted it after looking it over quickly, and the explanation of "I'm his daughter..." (see full edit history for full summary) to me, at the time, did not justify blanking out the entire section, so I reverted it. She then messaged me, asking me to take another look at the section, which I did, and I spent about 1.5 hours googling various permutations of Mark Hudson/Disney/Danielle/Harassment, (I do research, so I know what I'm doing, and when I want to find something, I find it, lol) and I came up completely blank. Also searched the New York Times, and came up blank.
Basically what I'm telling you is I fully back you on your discussion on the talk page, the section never should have been put back into the article, and I'm unsure why it was. Perhaps if this happens again, it needs to be taken to mediation/moderation for resolution, but I believe that the three of us are fully right in expecting defamatory statements like that be cited and referenced before being included in articles. This is "innocent until proven guilty", right? :)
Anyway I just wanted to let you know and maybe you can keep an eye on the article as well. Have a great day! Ariel♥Gold 10:20, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Update
[edit]I've just been sent a link to the LA Times article that was posted on the Mark Hudson site, it is just a small paragraph, I don't know where all the other info the person posted came from, but this issue will likely get resolved, in that the information will probably be added in some form.
The link is super long, but if you want to shoot me an email, I can send it to you if you like. Ariel♥Gold 18:40, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- The link can be found on the page now, in references. I'm done with the whole drama of this issue, I don't like controversy, and I fell into this one by accident, so I'm glad to have it decided by someone much more important than myself. lol. Ariel♥Gold 05:20, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
WRONGFULLY DELETED ARTICLE
[edit]Clear Knuckles
[edit]I cited four independent sources within my article! Did you bother to view the links?! It had all the information I put in the article! Are you retarded?
Brass Knuckles
[edit]What's your problem pal? Some spammer put a link to his page on the brass knuckles page so I removed it. Then I added the citation where it said 'citation needed' of a website where it specifically states the exact facts stated in the sentence requesting a citation! Some users are so concerned about protecting the world from advertising that they are missing the whole point of Wikipedia! IT SAID CITATION NEEDED SO I PUT AN ACCURATE TRUTHFUL REFERENCE!!!! What is your apparent vested interest? You are being reported to your superiors unless you append your disgusting actions.

WRONGFULLY DELETED ARTICLE
[edit]That's funny that I have to prove that others have written about it when it clearly has a link and a description of it in the article Brass Knuckles. Perhaps you should track down the editor that added the part about the Clear Knuckles there and delete it too! Were your parents killed by Clear Knuckles or something? Why do you harbor this hatred for this item?

Clear Knuckles
[edit]The reason the TSA hadn't heard of them at the time the article was written is because they are clear and nonmetallic, that is to say that nobody has gotten caught with them yet. I was surprised they hadn't heard of them either so I actually called the TSA and they told me that they have since ordered some to run some tests on. How do I list it as a variant of brass knuckles? Is it really a variant? The inventor Jason Shepherd owns the patent on them. I don't think they issue patents for variants, but what do I know? Right? If you mean edit the Brass Knuckles page to include the Clear Knuckles, someone already did but they did not quote the citation. I clicked the link where it said citation needed because I knew where it came from and then someone else deleted it! I'm not an idiot but I am new to this. I must be missing some giant important point. I have editors calling me "dickish", etc. When I think they are being dickish because I'm trying to contribute to Wikipedia and it seems as if all the other editors are attacking me. Someone turned off my abilities to edit the Brass Knuckles article anyway, so if you want me to add anything there, you'll have to fix that problem first. I am quickly becoming frustrated after hours and hours of typing, in an attempt to contribute to something that I use every day, only to have it immediately deleted for no reason that I can see. The worst you could do is help me out and tell me exactly what to write so that it will be deemed acceptable. I have looked at thousands of other articles and see no difference in theirs from mine. Please, please, please. Help me. Intolerancerecords 09:01, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Ice Records
[edit]I reverted your redirect of Ice Records, which was tagged for speedy deletion by User:Intolerancerecords in apparent retaliation for my deletion of Intolerance Records. Because of the several notable calypso and soca artists on the Ice label, I think it's not enough to just have the article redirect to the label owner, Eddy Grant. If you have further thoughts, please let me know. Thanks, NawlinWiki 11:43, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Big State Festival Wrongly Deleted
[edit]The Page was all fact. No advertising. There was no mention of ticket sales, where to buy etc. Strictly facts. Why was the Page Considered Advertising? Because it's a future event? Pages exist for the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which has a future events, Awards shows are annual events that the public can buy tickets to, and yet there are pages that document the artists that participate.
Mark Hudson
[edit]I am now working for Mark on this issue, as this is becoming problematic to him. We understand that this story is documented , but would appreciate a sensitive approach to this - as not only him - but his family are being questioned. I would ask that the article be left as is now, there is no need to change it further. Under human rights legislation we will look at taking some kind of legal action, if there can be no resolution.Killerheels 23:04, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the explanation on my talk page. I will just monitor the site for any adverse changes and if not sourced will discuss them with you and/or Elonka first, before editing. Killerheels 21:57, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Cleanup templates
[edit]Just to let you know that most cleanup templates, like "unreferenced", "fact", "cleanup", "mergeto"etc., are best not "subst"ed. See WP:SUBST for more details. Regards, Rich Farmbrough, 11:28 15 August 2007 (GMT). P.S. the second parameter in mergeto overrides the discuss link.
Snape and the Marauders
[edit]I think in the interim, edits have rendered most of that point moot. I trimmed down tons of the article, skimming out cruft and stripping out the OR and OR by synthesis, and lastly maintained the article's focus on Snape and no one else. What do you think? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 23:26, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Paul Davidson
[edit]I'm sorry your accusations are completely false. Mr. Davidson is not a television producer, nor a screenwriter and the information was removed. None of these claims have been supported with any evidence or sources and it was confirmed with GRBTV that Mr. Davidson was not remembered on their production team of Princes of Malibu, let alone as a television producer. I have the email from the company to prove it. [edit]Yesterday I uploaded a digital image for the article "Annie Get Your Gun (Doris Day-Robert Goulet album)"; today I received this message:
"Orphaned non-free media (Image:Annie Get Your Gun.jpg)

I have no idea what this means; I have no idea why the image is "orphaned"; I have no idea if there is something I can do to rectify the problem. I just thought that the image, taken with my digital camera of the original album jacket, PhotoShopped, and uploaded to the article with what I thought to be justification of fair use for inclusion would be sufficient for its inclusion.
Help, please.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Stunts jump.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Stunts jump.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Arthur McDuffie
[edit]Hi. I'm new at this and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to just drop a note to SOMEONE at Wikipedia about a problem on an entry. So you're it. The article, "Arthur McDuffie," the section on "The Trial," paragraph four, is a mess of typos, poor syntax and confusing sense. Perhaps someone would like to fix it. Thank you, djm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.65.125.237 (talk) 04:13, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Curious messages
[edit]I have been successfully logging in and doing minor edits on articles for several years. Last night I did it again, changing a word in an article about sitars from "tuning pegleg" to what it should have said: "tuning peg."
This morning I got a some what obsequious note from someone named -xC- like this:
........................................................................ Welcome!
Hello, Paul Hostetter, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
* The five pillars of Wikipedia * Tutorial * How to edit a page * How to write a great article * Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (Paul Hostetter (talk) 17:23, 5 March 2008 (UTC)); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome! -xC- 15:21, 5 March 2008 (UTC) ........................................................................
I'm not new at this, I have been tweaking articles, mostly about musical instruments, for five years or so. But when I attempted to find out who this person was, or to contact him/her/it, or even find out how to ask a question, I hit a wall because it said I had to log in and my name wasn't in the wiki database anywhere. If that was the case, how was this person able to know my name, know I was the one who edited that article, and contact me? My name is nicely lit up, as usual, at the top of every page. I can't be the mystery novice this person seems to think I am.
And to be honest, my browser has autofilled the login for so long that I simply can't remember what it is. I know what it shold be, but something or someone in Wikipedia doesn't believe me.
I hope you can sort me out on this, or tell me where to look. I just spent 45 minutes and only saw page after page after page of "not applicable."
So I think my username is Paul Hostetter, but I herewith dutifully sign this Paul Hostetter (talk) 17:23, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

RfA Review
[edit]Hello Bjelleklang. I've noticed that you have a completed set of responses to the RfA Review question phase at User:Bjelleklang/RFA review, but they don't seem to be included on the list of responses here. If you've completed your responses, please can you head to Wikipedia:RfA Review/Question/Responses and add a link to them at the bottom of the list so that they get included in the research. We have a closing date of midnight UTC on 1st July, so please add your link before this date. Once again, thank you for taking the time to participate in the Question Phase of RfA Review.Gazimoff WriteRead 11:44, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Help and getting started
[edit]hi! ok i have read and read and can't figure this out. I am trying to write an article and have seen the sandbox and the tutorials, but i was confused when i saw we should request to submit biographies... I am trying to write one on William A. Bond, an American figure on whom there is little on the internet. For example, he was a captain in WWII, he went on a major safari every year after the war and holds world records for some of his hunts. There is a museum that holds 140 full mounts, he had one of the largest private gun and Civil War collections (General Custard's gun to Indian chief headresses!) He also comes from high pedigree, his ancestors were major southern plantation owners etc.
SO i have submitted the request, what is next? i'm going to pull some information from his book that he had published privately. should i start working on it or do i need to wait to hear back from and admin for the green light?
and where exactly do i start typing, it says on my user page, but i am not sure. I hope this isn't annoying to you, just so confused! it seems difficult to navigate.
Thanks!!! 03hawnee (talk) 18:20, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit]- are you aware you deleted Fateh M. Malik: Shakhsiat-o-Fuun after I declined to delete it? It did not read as nonsense to me. I'll assume it was an edit conflict. The article itself isn't worth fighting for.
- Dr. syed farooq hasnat indicated importance for him as Chairman of the Department of Political Science at the University of the Punjab and author of numerous books. whether or not notable, that makes it not a A7. Please undelete and, if you thing appropriate, send to AfD- Please keep in mind the difference between not-notable, and no indication of importance. Actually, for this one I expect it has a very good chance to pass afD. DGG (talk) 16:33, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
. DGG (talk) 16:33, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- The Malik article was re-entered, and I took the opportunity to rewrite it to show what seems to be some real notability based on a real citation. See my note also to Crusio, and his comments to me. As for Hasnat, I am going to re=-enter it myself, if you do not undelete it. DGG (talk) 11:02, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Template
[edit]I like it. Can you translate it over to Norwegian or should I ask Jon Harald to do that? Mike H. Fierce! 00:43, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, and don't create it in the template space on Wikipedia. I don't think that's really accepted. I moved it to User:Bjelleklang/Wikimania-stockholm. You can template it the same way you did the old one. Mike H. Fierce! 00:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Notes for cross-Wiki update
[edit]Write the note in Norwegian tonight and place it at Tinget on no, Bybrunnen on sv, and Landsbybrønden on da. Probably on nn too if you can figure out what their village pump thing is.
The last time I posted to Tinget was when the Wikimania bid was just started, and I would like for you to summarize what all has happened in the last two months, and what we're doing in the next few months, and that we hope to put a proposal forth to WM Norge and WM Sverige before Christmas holidays, and that the WMF-sanctioned official bidding period starts in late January. As a well-prepared team of volunteers, we're getting the work done ahead of time so we won't have to stress at the last minute, and this should prove that we have more than enough manpower to get things done now, and later on down the road. I wrote some notes on the meta talk page about what I want to cover in the next meeting on October 9. Be sure to let everyone know that people can follow news relating to the bid after each chat meeting in their own language, and when you cross post to different Wikis, to update the template specific to that language. (Use Carina's template for Danish, yours for no and nn, and Moralist's for Swedish). Unless you can think of some other notes that you think the community should know about, I think that's it. Perhaps also add a little sentence about how we're always looking for supporters, and if you like the idea, to sign your name. If you want to be on the bid team with us, just tell them to inquire on IRC and message me, since I'm the elected bid chair. I think that's all.
OH! Do you think the note should introduce each bid team member? Mike H. Fierce! 08:47, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

'I'm a PC' anon - my own personal G***p
[edit]I've encountered this particular anon before, under several different accounts. I am pretty sure he is editing under at least three in different articles, specifically addressing my (and mine alone) edits. I think RfCU and/or SSP might be appropriate, because the 'fine young gentleman' (sorry, it was the most polite thing I could think of to sub) has stalked my edits and has been warned not to. The anon blows off userpage comments left for them, but follows my contributions throughout the project closely am kinda done with dealing with this 'fine young gentleman'. Any thoughts on how to appropriately and efficiently drop-kick this user? - Arcayne (cast a spell) 16:29, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- I will put together the IPs in question and present them to you via email, unless you prefer to have them sent via usertalk. There are a "few" of them, and by few, I mean over a dozen. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 23:42, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- Will do. Today is my birthday, so I will likely be doing little in the way of productive stuff today (boss forbade me to come into work unless there is a natural disaster or the lake catches on fire). I tend to sit around eating the foods I like and catch up on ,y reading. Wiki does that - makes you feel guilty for not reading more. :)

Wiki Censorship and article removal
[edit]Hi,
I do not know the proper way to complain about an administrator of the Wiki Movember site. I have posted verifiable information in relation to the page content and it is continually being removed. I have now placed qa link to the source of the material and it is still being removed. Why is the Wiki censoring this verifiable information. I have placed no interpretation of the data, just the data (link to the video clip and source documents referred to in the clip, the percentages of income and web sources of that information.
I am at a loss as to how to have valid material included - or is the Wiki operated by companies with hidden agendas who censor anything they don't like to hear?
I am frustrated, and am now eamiling all media with complaints about the Wiki censorship (as I have already stated to the administrator of the Movember Wiki). Cluso99 (talk) 05:20, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Problems Logging on to IRC chat
[edit]Hi, I am fairly new to Wikipedia and I have been trying to get on chat in order to get some help with various features here on Wikipedia.
All I get is a kind of window with: connect, channels, about, help on top and public, private on the bottom. Other than this nothing happens no response.
I know it says you have to download Java, but when trying to get on the suggested website there are so many different options I didn't know which one to use.
Please bear in mind I am not that internet-savvy so please use language I understand.
Many thanks--Josh Is Dead (talk) 06:35, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

About the article Sho Aikawa (screenwriter)
[edit]Previously you speedily deleted this article for lack of his importance, however, he is quite noted among anime and tokusatsu fans for various works, such as Martian Successor Nadesico, RahXephon, Fullmetal Alchemist, Kamen Rider Blade, GoGo Sentai Boukenger and Kamen Rider Decade. Also, he is somewhat controversial for .Next time you doubt a biographical article for its significance, please do not speedily delete it. Instead, you should apply {{notability}} to the article. Wikipedia forbids speedily deleting an article for its lack of importance or original research (see Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion). You as an administrator should know this quite well.--RekishiEJ (talk) 15:29, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- You're right. The screenwriter article you deleted was less than a substub, only having information about his profession and name. But you don't have to use importance or significance claims to speedily delete the article; you can just speedily delete it for its overly short length.--RekishiEJ (talk) 22:06, 27 February 2009 (UTC) 22:27, 27 February 2009 (UTC) fix
