Help Request

{{helpme}} I would like to place one of those superscript [cite?] signs I've seen on other articles for a date on the Mykonos restaurant assassinations article, but can't find how to do it. I've had a look for a date reference but no success. I don't think the information should be there without some sort of verification. Bigger digger (talk) 10:37, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Answer

Put and around whatever you want superscripted. Here's an example.

Clarifying: 1 continent but 3 countries

You Wrote: Hi, I was just passing by a page you edited and visited your page due to your interesting name. Could you explain how you've been to 1 continent but 3 countries? If you're in Canada, isn't the only other country to go to the US?! Yours desperately seeking geography knowledge, Bigger digger (talk) 00:03, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

To clarify: I have been to Canada, the United States, and Mexico - all of which are located in North America. I'll admit that North America is sometimes considered to consist of only Canada and the United States. However, it is generally accepted that North America's southern limit is delimited by the Darién watershed along the Colombia-Panama border, or at the Panama Canal. There are some geographical constructs (i.e. Central America) in which Canada and the United States are listed separately from Mexico. However, Central America is generally considered to be a sub-continent.

Anyways, I hope this explains why I stated that I have been to three countries on one continent. Also, I'm glad you like my name.(Hyperionsteel (talk) 00:33, 3 February 2009 (UTC))

Roazhon v Rennes

Hi Pymouss44! Thank goodness for your multi-lingual nature, you should be able to help out my poor mono-lingual English self with the query I've put on Talk:Rennes#Roazhon v Rennes. Your description of your edit to the article doesn't quite match with what you've changed so I'd appreciate if you could join in the conversation I started over there. Thanks! Bigger digger (talk) 15:53, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

I tried to answer on the talk page of the article. In fact, you're right when you say that using a Breton name as a native name is a POV. I hope my explanation was clear.

re IP Editor vandalising again

I see no edits by that user for two days. Best place to report ongoing vandalism is WP:AIV. Cirt (talk) 11:21, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

If you report it now at WP:AIV it will not be blocked because it is two days old and not ongoing vandalism. Cirt (talk) 11:26, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

IRC re translation

Hi there,

I think it was you who asked on IRC,

<biggerdigger> !helper I am trying to create a en.wiki page for which a foreign language wiki already exists and I would like to adapt. Can someone point me to advice on this in terms of copyright, citing, etc. Or can I just google translate it?!

If that wasn't you then my apologies (no way to verify user ID's on IRC);

If it was you, then I'd recommend looking at Wikipedia:TRANSLATE#How_to_translate. There are no great hard-and-fast rules on this, but from my own experience, I'd suggest using machine translation with caution; use it as a tool, but recognize that the article will need editing and changing to fit in with English wikipedia. The template to add to the talk, {{Translated page}}, is a good way to explain sourcing etc.

Hope this helps; for more, use a {{helpme}} here or talk to us live again.

Cheers,  Chzz  ►  20:25, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

That was me, thanks for the help! Bigger digger (talk) 20:56, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Frohman Article

Hi, Thanks for the help on the Frohman article. This was my first article and I hadn't figured out how to add illustrations yet.

I do have a bunch of pictures of Frohman, but they are all copyrighted by the Cathedral's magazine. I am sending a letter to the Cathedral to see if they would be willing to supply a picture which they will agree to relinquish the copyright to. If I can get them to agree, I will need some help in getting the correct wording and uploading the image file into Wiki Common. I'll let you know what happens. Don't want to clutter the article talk page with this, but I guess if the answer is "no" I should probably still put something there saying an attempt has been made, but proved unsuccessful. I would like to get this article up to "good" status, but hesitate to ask for a review without a picture of Frohman. As for the French ancestry, I don't have any more on that. I was surprise to find out as much as I eventually did from published sources. Thanks again. (please respond on my talk page).--Tomaterols (talk) 15:31, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 18:21, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Help with Osaka Maritime Museum

{{helpme}}

I am editing Osaka Maritime Museum and have been on the hunt for sources. I have found http://en.wikiarquitectura.com/index.php?title=Osaka_Maritime_Museum - this wiki which seems to have Spanish routes. It has a number of images/drawings of the layout 1 and 2 which will assist in understanding the building, but I'm not sure on the copyright issues involved - you click through on the image and it suggests it is also on Commons, but you click through again and it isn't there. Can I use it? How do I go about getting it onto Commons? Or was it deleted there because it's NNFC? Does it need to be removed from the original site? Finally, I think a drawing of the layout based on these drawings would be useful, is there anyone to ask to do that?

Thanks! Bigger digger (talk) 11:41, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Third Opinion disappeared?

Hi there. The Third Opinion request for the Intel Corp article was removed (you can see which one it was here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Third_opinion&oldid=288334554 ), but there were no third opinions posted for it yet. Am I missing something? Thanks! --68.111.167.64 (talk) 06:01, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Hello! I'm afraid it is there at the bottom of this section, but it's not in your favour. I was going to write a much longer piece but it would only repeat what Alvus said. Your cites from the book are not really evidence, they report a claim from an unknown paper. You have then presented it as fact, which is clearly not appropriate under Wikipedia's requirement for verifiability. If there were reliable sources that said "Company X was forced into bankruptcy by Intel's suing of them, when they had only just been established." then consideration could be given to that. I hope you can see that your other assertion is not suitable for an encyclopedia, otherwise every article could have speculative sections. I hope these conversations can help you see the need for specific, verifiable, information, not unsourced allegations in a book. Good luck with the rest of your editing, I hope you saw the welcome note I put on your talk page. Cheers. Bigger digger (talk) 10:24, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Simon Darby

Hi, Digger,

Just to let you know - I'm off. I'm leaving Wikipedia, in the hope that I can get some real life done. Sorry to invite you to the Simon Darby page then bugger off, but I think the article's issues have, for the most part, been resolved. I'd like to thank you for your help there - you were neutral and civil - fantastic! I'm going to remove the podcast section before I go - I've had a look round, and I can't find any reliable 3rd party sources about it. It's mentioned on some pro-BNP blogs (and some anti- ones), the BNP website and Play Radio's website, but nothing 3rd party. If you think I shouldn't get rid of it, feel free to revert. Anyway, I think you've done a great job with your 3rd opinion, and wish you all the best.

Darimoma (talk) 07:55, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi Darimoma,
I guess I won't know if you get a chance to read this or not. I thought we did some great work on the Simon Darby article, it was a lot more balanced after some editors introduced their POV and we found a new neutral position, which I think enhances the article. I'm slightly scared you're leaving it to me to look after!
For the record, I think it's a real shame that you're leaving, but it's odd that you seem to be leaving over this discussion. From the balance you displayed on Talk:Simon Darby it's confusing to me that you can then appear slightly unbalanced in your writings on Talk:Liopleurodon. I guess that's a lesson for all of us, to make sure we strive for balance in all the articles no matter our own bias, and sometimes accept the consensus isn't with you.. Don't mean to have a go, I just want to record this for my own learning on wp.
Hopefully you'll come back and edit some other articles, and leave that dispute behind you, I'll cross my fingers.
Anyway, big shame, good luck to you in real life! Bigger digger (talk) 12:59, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thank you very much for the kind note you left on my user page about the Third Opinion I offered yesterday. Although it's not something I have time to do often, giving a 3O is probably my favorite WP task. Your positive words came at a good time. It's good to feel appreciated once in awhile! And parties to a dispute aren't necessarily grateful for the 3O they receive....

Your 3Os are good, and I hope you continue to give them. Best wishes. And, again, thanks! GreenGourd (talk) 00:16, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank You for your Advice

note to self, started conversation at User_talk:SeekerAfterTruth#Trying_to_be_helpful

BD,

Whilst I would agree my original entry contained a large amount from one website, this was corrected and my later edits also contained citations from numerous independent sources.

I cannot pretend I am in agreement with the consensus on the article and am more disappointed that WIKI can allow an article that not only contains factual errors but shows a complete lack of balance and allows users to pursue their own agenda's with complete disregard for fair representation.

It was my intention to improve the article and contribute to the WIKI project, however I thank you for your advice, I appreciate you taking the time to respond and have taken note of what you said and as such perhaps avoiding the page seems the best course of action.

cheers

SeekerAfterTruth (talk) 12:48, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Seeker,
I've replied here in an attempt to keep the conversation in one place.
It's no problem, I try and offer assistance along the way. It's encouraging that you can recognise how long I spent writing on your talk page, so your reply here goes a long way to convincing me you'll be fine here once you settle in! From my (althogether blurry) memory, it seems you're nearly there on this POV thing - for the change of orange shirts, although Rangers' POV is that the shirts were withdrawn as they change every season (which they generally do, keep the punters spending money), there is an equally valid POV to suggest that the orange was a "political" (probably the wrong word, but hey-hum!) mistake and withdrawing it acknowledged that problem. Both POVs are valid and deserve mention in the article (from my, hopefully neutral position). I can't remember exactly how you argued this one, but wp wants to see every source's position, and try to include it. I don't know if this makes much sense or not. I'll blame the wine ;-) Bigger digger (talk) 01:22, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
The problem i see is seeker is ranger fan ( i am too) however i have been here on wikipedia 2-3 years and i know the rules and such i agree the section makes rangers look bad but that is what the sources say and as yet there has only been few realible source to say otehr wise. In previous debatres about it i have had the section greatly improved, however i think seeker wants ti removed altogether as it tarnish the club name however it part of rangers and has to be included but needs to be as seeker put it factually accurate :) By the way i take NPOV at all times i try to understand both sides it the only way forward--Andrewcrawford (talk) 19:06, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

The problem I have with andrewcrawford is he is making assumptions that are incorrect (what about AGF andrew ?) in that I want the section removed not because it "tarnishes the clubs reputation" but because of the size of the section constitutes "undue weight" and the subject matter is so complex that not to discuss the subject in it's entirety is to do it a disservice and merely perpetuates the same old inaccuracies. It also contains too much content that could be construed as recentism. How important will one arrest, or a certain chant seem in 10yrs for instance ? I also continue question the motives of some editors, who have displayed a lack of impartiality, clearly seen by anyone who investigates their individual editing history. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SeekerAfterTruth (talkcontribs) 06:07, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

sorry bigdigger i know this is probably not the place for this discussion, but I felt compelled to respond. SeekerAfterTruth (talk) 06:09, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

No problem, I'm sure you're well aware that the place to discuss Rangers F.C. is at Talk:Rangers F.C.. I don't know why Andrewcrawford felt the need to comment, and it's odd that you would wish to reply two weeks later. Maybe I need to look in to archiving my talk page, and I'll pop along to Rangers to see what trouble you two are creating ;-) Bigger digger (talk) 10:19, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

French Army in World War I

I need a favor. Could you help my copyedit French Army in World War I? I tried to fit as much information into as few sentences as possible, so I know I have a lot of run-on sentences, but that is the only major problem I see. I am horrible with grammar, as my contributions will prove, so I need some help. Thanks, mynameinc 21:03, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Also, I am working on another article, New York City ethnic enclaves, because it is waiting improvement on a GA nomination, and I need to get it to GA status in the time period allotted. mynameinc 21:05, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
I'll have a look at both of them tomorrow (Sunday eve UTC) . Although I regard myself as a grammar geek I don't know how my copy-editing sits in the quality range on wikipedia. I can only try, I guess! Bigger digger (talk) 01:14, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
Sorry about the misunderstanding. I don't need you to look at New York City ethnic enclaves, I was just explaining why I didn't read the copyedit manual and copyedit French Army in World War I myself. All that needs done on New York City ethnic enclaves is the history section needs expansion. mynameinc 01:18, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

No problem, Aladdin's Eatery clearly had promise and I wondered where you had disappeared to. I've started venturing into AfD and am on the "delete" side for a similar chain of restaurants in the Middle East, Al Farooj Fresh, so thought I ought to do something for this one. Also ridiculous that there was one editor who seemed so keen to nuke it. Although why don't you start articles off in user space before exposing them to the dangers of mainspace?! Cheers, Bigger digger (talk) 17:27, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Welcome to Did you know...

Hello! I noticed that you've been reviewing a lot of nominations at the DYK suggestions page. Thank you for your help, and I hope you will continue to contribute! As you know, you don't need to be an administrator to review hooks or to move hooks to Next update, so your help is more than welcome.

You may already be familiar with the DYK rules by now, but in case you aren't, you can check out the official rules and the Additional Rules. You may also want to look into some useful tools that can allow you to review nominations more quickly: the Cut & Paste character counter is a helpful JavaScript to calculate the length of hooks, and DYKcheck is a script you can install on your own Wikipedia account for more heavy-duty verifying.

The best way to learn is by doing, but here is also a quick reference of the things to check for each hook you review:

The old digger

I miss the old digger. I liked it. Very Star Wars. What was it digging for anyway? ChildofMidnight (talk) 00:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

It'll be back at some point, I went Commons surfing for digger pictures and have a list of them that will go on rotation. I was actually reminded to change it when I read kelapstick's interupted RfA and looked at mountain removal mining, which made me realise that even my silly name has the potential to be viewed as a CoI!
I'm not quite sure what it was digging for, although generally the huge excavators are after coal, it had a German filename so I guess there's somewhere in Germany that's a bit lighter after all the digging - there are still two pages where you can see the old digger in action, a Russian wp page about rotary excavators, and a wp page in the Saterland Frisian language which is spoken by about 2000 people that I can't translate - I think it has something to do with coal extraction.
Also, it's quite an interesting debate about plagarism going on round these parts. Copying with attribution is not plagarism if you ask me. If I quite clearly cite where I took my info from then I am not attempting to hide where my words originally came from then I cannot logically be plagarising. Is it fair to say that puts me in a minority view on wp?
Bigger digger (talk) 08:14, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. That language is interesting. As far as plagarism, it gets complicated, but there are still limits on how much wording and how much content can be duplicated from a cited source. It's a judgment call I would say. Nice chatting with you. Party on. ChildofMidnight (talk) 16:50, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
That was a Bucket-wheel excavator, they are used in Europe, typically Germany (I don't know if any are used in North America) for strip mining coal. They are HUGE. I have a Power Point presentation that has a lot of pictures of one crossing a road at 1/3 miles per hour, including a Cat D8 bulldozer in one of the buckets.--kelapstick (talk) 16:56, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Does wp-email let you send attachments?! K'stick, not enough canvassing for your RfA, me and my digger chums would've fixed it all for you, like an episode of Bob the Builder (if you get that reference you should probably be a little bit ashamed)! Bigger digger (talk) 17:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

LOL. What a great big pile of ridiculous. Mishlai (talk) 02:20, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Yep, it's certainly odd. The problem is there isn't an essay to point an editor to that means we can't just say "look here". I quite like the effort they're going to in order to include their sentence, and if that effort could be harnessed in a positive manner I'm sure they'd make a good editor... No problem, commented on the talk page. How involved with the raw milk article are you? I really think it needs a rewrite and might start one in my userspace, aiming to refocus on the product itself and then addressing the controversy surrounding but with less emphasis. Would you be interested in helping out over the next few weeks? Or is that a waste of time for me and you?! Bigger digger (talk) 20:19, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! I only became involved when cleaning up after a editor that was spamming links. I'd like to help, but I'm struggling just to find enough time to bring the current dispute to some sort of conclusion. --Ronz (talk) 03:32, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Philip Frohman, Mainly good news and (slightly) bad

Hi again. I know you said you'd watch my talk page, but it's been a while so I thought I post the (largely) good news here. The Cathedral came through with two pictures they said they release into the public domain with attribution. I have never uploaded anything in Wikimedia before and am leaving in a day or two for a trip to your neck of the woods (I think). Depending on how things go, I may not be able to get them into Wikimedia until early July. The slightly bad news is that he appears to be wearing his medal in the color photo. The actual medal is evidently in his jacket pocket but the ribbon appears. It is white and gold, the Papal colors, not the colors of the medal image you added to the article. I think, given the inconsistency, it best to take the image of the medal out of the article. Once I get a picture of Frohman uploaded I am going to nominate the article for Good article status. If you have any corrections/suggestions, please make them or let me know with the above caveat that it may be early July before I respond.--Tomaterols (talk) 14:29, 9 June 2009 (UTC) Just realized the lead needs to be expanded before the Good Article nomination.--Tomaterols (talk) 14:33, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

No worries about the medal, it's not a particularly brilliant picture, I just wanted to put some more images in at the time. I guess we could swap it out for the picture of him with the medal on, and put the other one at the top? WP:There is no deadline, so no problem if you can't upload the pictures for Philip H. Frohman before you leave. You could zip up the photos and the attribution info and upload it to yousendit.com - then paste the link here and I could upload it to Commons whilst you're away (although no problem if that's all too technical!) - I have an account at Commons so I could get a photo of Bacon ice cream uploaded! Great work on persuading them to release some photos BTW — I hope they get a chance to see the articles. Have a good trip, there's plenty of Gothic churches over here! Bigger digger (talk) 14:51, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I'm finally back but I see you may be otherwise occupied. Trip went very nicely, no glitches and generally good weather. I'm no longer sure what I'm seeing in Frohman's pocket is his papal medal. It might just be somthing like a ruler sticking up out of his pocket, not a medal (why would he wear the medal but have the "gong" part hidden in his pocket? I'm not sure I can still follow my own reasoning on this.) Anyhow, I'm not taking out the picture of the medal unless I'm absolutely sure.
I followed the link to yousendit.com, but I'm not sure how it works. It appears that I need to send it to a specific e-mail address. Let me know on my talk page when you're back to Wikiworld. Hope you're having fun. Thanks again for your support and help.--Tomaterols (talk) 01:04, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Battle of Isandlwana

Sorry, I still think there is a bias on that page. The line implies the Zulus won despite being armed with inferior weapons, but they won because they achieved tactical suprise, heavily outnumbered the British troops, and the British used the wrong tactics (fighting the Zulus in a straight firing line and not a square with Isandlwana covering their rear and consolidating their fire like at Rorke's Drift or at the final battle, Ulundi). I think it is irrelevant to mention the weapons differences.

I know in our 21st century politically correct educated world, we're supposed to hate white people and blame them for the ills of society. This is unacceptable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LordSaddler (talkcontribs) 07:01, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, LordSaddler. I assume you're talking about the WP:3O I offered for Battle of Isandlwana. I've added the heading to this discussion to separate it from Philip Frohman. You make a very good point that I didn't pick up in your writing on the article talk page. I will copy your comment across to Talk:Battle of Isandlwana and reply there so that discussion is all in the same place.
I don't see the relevance of your second paragraph. I'll keep article discussion within the realms of the 5 Pillars. Cheers, Bigger digger (talk) 08:31, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Of course you do not see the relevance of my point. It wasn't a politically correct statement. Many, many articles written on this "encyclopedia" are poorly written, poorly sourced, and have a definite slant to them. It's a shame, really. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LordSaddler (talkcontribs) 09:08, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

So help me fix them. Contribute to article talk pages, don't edit war (biggest waste of time ever) and seek balance in your edits. I hope you've seen the improvements made to the BoI lead and have commented - I'll go check... Cheers, Bigger digger (talk) 09:13, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Help you fix them? HAHAHA. Every time I would, some snotnosed 14 year old leftist, quoting the left-wing nonsense learned from high school ( I know. I used to be one of them) will edit the crap out of it. Too many people too lazy to do their own research rely too heavily on this site to do the homework for them. It's ridiculous. I'm done with this site. Keep your bias all you want. I'm done. <where's sine bot? slack tin machine...>

Your contributions show you haven't edited a single article talk page. If people can't understand your reasoning and motivations they will struggle to agree with you. Good luck with whatever you choose to do instead — you had some genuinely useful views so it's a shame they'll be lost to wikipedia. Bigger digger (talk) 15:02, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Unable to resist bacon's temptations, rogue editors have kicked off the Bacon Challenge 2010 before the New Year even starts! This is a fun and collegial event and all are welcome. There are many non-pork articles for editors who enjoy some sizzle, but object to or don't like messing with pig products. This year's event also includes a Bacon WikiCup 2010 for those who may want to keep score and enjoy engaging in friendly competition. Given the critical importance of this subject matter, I know you will want to participate, so remember to sign up today and get started A.S.A.P. ALL ARE WELCOME!!! The more the merrier. Hi Bigger digger, I saw you tried to improve Bodo Sperling. I posted some message on the discussion page there. When I tried the link, "what links there" I saw, that Bodo Sperling is mentioned in many articles containig "Objectivism", digital art and so on. I think, there is going on a lot of self promotion, we had the same problem in German WP and the netherland WP w:nl:Bodo Sperling deleted the article because auf that reason. Could you please watch this a little? Regards --Robertsan1 (talk) 05:53, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi Robertsan, yes, I'll try to keep an eye on the article, it doesn't seem to me like he has much notability but if some other sources appear then maybe there is hope for him! Bigger digger (talk) 15:11, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
HI Bigger digger. I did some edits today removing some namedropping in lists for notable artists in Virtual art, New media art and Conceptual art, also List of video artists, because these articles are for notable artists who participated in a biennial or documenta. I am sure that there will come up a fresh user or an IP trying to revert them. I agree with all your statements but I will be quiet there, not dropping oil in the fire. If I can help you with any translation let me know. Regards --Robertsan1 (talk) 18:30, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I see you tried to create previously consensus to keep the article on one place, and you opted to keep it at [{2010 Copiapó mining accident]] (the most accurate title). I invite you to take part of the latter discussion on the matter, located here. Thanks, and have a nice day. Diego Grez (talk) 01:14, 30 August 2010 (UTC)

Relisting Édmée Schneerson

As reviewing administrator, I thought the nature of the AfD discussion had so far degenerated that, invoking IAR, I thought it advisable to close, blank, and relist at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Édmée Schneerson (2nd nomination). I'm sorry that you'll have to give the argument over again, but see my note at the AfD 2. DGG ( talk ) 05:41, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

No worries, if you read WP:AGF I'm sure it says something about assuming the best in writing, because it's always hard to gauge tone. Editors can get quite upset when articles they like are up for deletion, which I think is probably the case here. Bigger digger (talk) 20:49, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Robert F. Worth

You are completely right that he is more notable in a real-world sense than a good number of articles here. It really does strike me as odd that there are not any profiles or the like of him. Maybe he prefers to keep a low profile in light of the areas he reports from. Anyway, as soon as there are some RSs, though, he should defnitely get an article. That CCI

Hi. :) Pretty soon, the bot is going to blank the rest of the articles created by DD, and I'm going to be busily following the links from the CCI subpages to make sure that the ones that have already been reviewed are unblanked. Is that something you'd be willing to help out with? If so, let me know, and we can coordinate our lists. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:51, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

  • If you want something very quick and easy to look at, see this list. Those are the articles from the original list that had been renamed/redirected in the period between the list being made and the 'bot processing being commenced. Every redirect target should have been processed by the 'bot as well. If you find one that hasn't been, please let me know. Uncle G (talk) 21:02, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
    • (e/c) :Hello! I have no list, I was just trying to help on the one article I noticed. More than happy to do some boring clicking, but I'm away from Thursday for just over a week. • To Uncle G, when I read that all again and work out what I should be doing I'll let you know ;-) Bigger digger (talk) 21:04, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
      •
        1. Go through the list.
        2. Check the edit history of each page. There should be no edits other than a page move and the 'bot.
        3. Revert the redirect back to a redirect.
        4. Check that the redirect target has been touched by Uncle G's major work 'bot.
        5. Let me know of any redirect targets that have not been.
      • Uncle G (talk) 21:12, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
        • Everything on the list, which at the moment goes from an edit at 19:15, 20 September 2010 to an edit at 11:16, 21 September 2010, has been returned to a redirect. All the targets had been blanked with the template and a few have since been reviewed by others. Bigger digger (talk) 00:18, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Public Library of Pichilemu

To TelCoNaSpVe & Colonel Warden, per my recent comment at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Public_Library_of_Pichilemu, I wonder if you might change your merge target to Agustín Ross Cultural Centre as this is where the library is based. The Cultural Centre is currently mentioned in the lead of the Pichilemu article. Bigger digger (talk) 21:13, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

It might receive better coverage in the main Pichilemu article, in my opinion. The cultural center is only a subset of the city, and we do not know whether or not the library, as an institution, is a separate entity from the Cultural Center itself. :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 23:41, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Ah, now I hate to look easily swayed but that's a good point! Bigger digger (talk) 23:45, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
But the Cultural Centre article is the place where it should be if it is to be merged somewhere, not the main Pichilemu article. --Diego Grez (talk) 17:32, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
Why? The building may be located in the Cultural Centre, but the institution itself could be based elsewhere. Like I said, it is possible that it is a separate entity from the Cultural Center. We don't know if that is the case, so the best bet would be to have it included in the main Pichilemu article. :| TelCoNaSpVe :| 23:00, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
  • No. Disregarding the Library is part of the Municipality of Pichilemu, it is an independent organization, yet still dependant of BiblioRedes, the Chilean libraries network. The library is the only organization working on the cultural centre since its inauguration, and if there's a place where the current content of the library article should be, it is Agustín Ross Cultural Centre, not the city/town article, call it what you like. --Diego Grez (talk) 23:08, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
  • I didn't say that. The Cultural Centre is historically more important than the library (it worked as the first Casino in Chile, etc.), so the proper move would be Library>Cultural Centre article. --Diego Grez (talk) 23:23, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
  • The Cultural centre building is notable per the reasons I just gave you (first Casino in Chile, National and Historical Monument of Chile, etc.). The Library is currently hosted on the Cultural centre, is part of it as an institution/organization. The Library is not as notable as the building itself, obviously. The old building of the library (pictured in the article) is not notable, and currently hosts a kind of court. --Diego Grez (talk) 23:42, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
