Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Speedy deletion contested: Chandrakant Lahariya

[edit]

Hello BellaNYork. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Chandrakant Lahariya, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The reason given is not a valid speedy deletion criterion. Thank you. BangJan1999 11:57, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Surprised that you find this notable. Plenty of examples of this nature which are rejected as per wiki standards. What is the motivation please? BellaNYork (talk) 16:58, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, BellaNYork,

I hope you are well. I was just wondering what led you to this draft and to edit it? There are tens of thousands of drafts sitting in Draft space and I'm just wondering how you came across this one to make an edit to it. Thank you for any explanation you can provide. Liz Read! Hi BellaNYork, I'm sorry to say I've reverted the addition you made at Prostate cancer about the research correlating hand patterns and prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is a big field with lots of papers, textbook chapters, et al. written about it. Part of our policy on maintaining a "neutral point of view" is a section called "Due and undue weight", which advises that we should describe theories/claims/aspects of a topic in roughly the proportion that those theories/claims/aspects are described in reliable sources. The claim about hand size and prostate cancer risk isn't mentioned at all by the other sources, which are recent reviews from major medical institutions and major scientific journals. If those authors' claims are solid, I'm sure their finding will eventually be replicated and amplified by others, reflected more broadly in sources, and then we'll reflect it in our article here. Until then, it's unduly highlighting those authors' findings to report them here. If you'd like more opinions on the matter, you can certainly post at the talk page or at the medicine WikiProject to find other interested editors. Information icon Hi BellaNYork! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. NCIN

[edit]

Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Indic)#Titles and honorifics is not restricted to namespace. It is to be followed everywhere throughout Wikipedia for a given article subject since the honorific pre/suffix form part of the name of the individual and is bound by the WP:COMMONNAME policy, also tied to MOS:HON. There is a reason why Mahatma is used as an honorific-prefix in the Mahatma Gandhi article's infobox because the WP:COMMONNAME itself is Mahatma Gandhi. Notable examples include Joe Biden Kamala Harris, etc. Secondly, there are consensus at WP:INB agaiunst the use of such honorifics in "India-related" articles particularly. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:46, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
