Hi. We're into the last five days of the Women in Red World Contest. There's a new bonus prize of $200 worth of books of your choice to win for creating the most new women biographies between 0:00 on the 26th and 23:59 on 30th November. If you've been contributing to the contest, thank you for your support, we've produced over 2000 articles. Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles. If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.
WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in 1 active women's league)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Hello WOSO editors! What a 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France! There has been a lot of activity on tournament- and player-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of the tournament and its players. Let's keep the momentum going. WOMEN IN SPORTS EDIT-A-THON FOR JULY + AUGUST! Get all the info here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Meetup/126 Sign up and help fill in the gaps within various articles related to women's football / soccer - whether they be players, teams, leagues, historical, administrators, referees, etc. Every little bit helps. Hello WHOCKEY editors! The Women's Football/Soccer Task Force uses periodic newsletters to keep its members looped in on task force happenings and adopting the practice may serve useful for WP:WHOCKEY – let’s give it a try! If you have any feedback or ideas regarding the WP:WHOCKEY newsletter, please post on the news talk page. This newsletter is sourced and minimally altered from the WOSO April 2018 newsletter created by our own Hmlarson. Drawing further inspiration from WP:WOSO, work has begun on a few initiatives that will emphasize making more WHOCKEY links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles. The hope is that the initiatives will make it easier for editors to find the pages and topics of most interest to them. Initiative pages are currently in the works and will be fully functional by the second week of the month. If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, once the initiatives are up and running, you’ll be able to sign up on an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles. If there is a subject that you feel ought to have an initiative of it’s own, creating your own initiative is welcomed and encouraged.

Often times there is enough media coverage to meet WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. During the spotlight on diversity, editors are encouraged to celebrate the array of identities represented within the sport by improving or creating bio pages for ice hockey people of various cultures, ethnicities, heritages, religious beliefs, sexual orientations, gender identities, abilities, and other diverse characteristics. Next month kicks off the NOV-DEC-JAN spotlight on Collegiate Leagues!

Happy Spring WHOCKEY editors! After more than a year without international women’s ice hockey, we’re finally just a month away from the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship! The IIHF Worlds, in partnership with the Olympic Games, are the most watched annual women’s ice hockey tournaments in the world and spark more interest in the women’s game than any other events. We have a great opportunity to enrich the fan experience by offering up-to-date and informative articles about players, national teams, and other subjects related to the tournament. The only women's players included in WP:NHOCKEY are players who have competed in the Top Division of the World Championship – meaning a bevy of player bios will get to be created in the next month. Hungary is set to make its Top Division debut and Denmark is returning to the Top Division for the first time since 1992. What an exciting time to be editing! Articles related to the 2021 Worlds that are in need of creation, updates, or edits are collected at the National Teams & International Tournaments initiative page. Please add to the list if you find something in need of attention so we may collaborate and help one another in the coming weeks.

What a wild ride the 2020–21 season has been! Many leagues were able to complete the season despite the need for alternations and amendments with respect to COVID-19. Hearty congratulations to all of the league champions – 2020–21 is definitely one for the history books.
