Actually, disregard. There was a redirect to the same name to another draft you submitted. I put the draft back in queue for review. --CNMall41 (talk) 02:20, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I realised I made a bit of a mess, which I tried to fix by putting a delete tag on the Hollywood Hotel. I did create the new draft: Hotel Hollywood which is the correct name but which I have now renamed to Doris Goddard (I used the move option rather than create a new draft - so I have learned this process now). Doris is notable in her own right, recognised as an iconic women in May this year. I put the information pertaining to Hotel Hollywood at the bottom of that article. Does this work now?--Carrolquadrio (talk) 02:27, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft on Doris Goddard

[edit]

Hi there, thanks for editing and re-submitting the draft on Goddard; I'm just doing some editing and then will publish it into mainspace. However, I think you should remove the section on Hotel Hollywood and start a new article about the hotel, as it doesn't really belong in Goddard's article - she was one owner of many. Your draft article, Draft:Hotel Hollywood

[edit]

Hello, Carrolquadrio. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Hotel Hollywood".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! JMHamo (talk) 08:22, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JMHamo The article was originally a section of Doris Goddard article. It was suggested that it should be a seperate article. I have now submitted it for review. Thanks.

Tools

[edit]

See Wikipedia:Prosesize and Wikipedia:HotCat as things that make editing easier. The first is good at getting a handle on article size - WRT Stubs - see Wikipedia:Stub Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 13:20, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cas Liber I was thinking more about changing the stub assessment rating and then categorising the article with a new assessment rating (since I am going through and marking them anyway). Draft papers will be assessed prior to upload to the stub and the final article will be around 2000 words. --Carrolquadrio (talk) 02:15, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Aha, okay look at Wikipedia:Content_assessment#Grades, especially the "Reader's experience" column. I use this column when rating articles. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 04:30, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Cas Liber I am very familiar with this section, this is one of the first tools I give students. So it is okay for me to assess as an editor and not an administrator? --Carrolquadrio (talk) 00:19, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely! For the most part, admins are just ordinary editors who've been vetted and allowed some extra tools. Anyone can rate up to B class. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 07:06, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Cas Liber You aint ordinary! Good to know thanks. user:Fransplace see this thread, for your info.
Cas Liber Whilst I consider myself to be ethical, can i confirm there would be no conflict of interest?
Okay - current wiki-etiquette is roughly as follows - it's perfectly fine for an editor to rate their own article as stub, start or C-class. B-class is in a bit of a grey area these days but you could argue the case if you think it is pretty comprehensive and just about every fact is cited with an inline reference. Best to let someone else rate it to be safe in most cases. GA status has a process (WP:GAN), as do A-class and FA class (WP:FAC). Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 11:03, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Carrolquadrio. Since you, Fransplace and R stasey all appear to be involved with class projects for the University of Sydney, I thought the three of you might be able to help sort this out (perhaps even off-Wikipedia). It appears that some your students are adding {{Educational assignment}} to the talk pages of articles they're trying to improve (which might've been something they were advised to do), but they're just adding the bare-bones template (e.g. here) without specifying any parameters. It might be more helpful to others editing the same articles if more information was added to the templates like a link to the course's page or the dates of the course. I'm not very familiar with the workings of these types of templates, but I have also seen {{Dashboard.wikiedu.org assignment}} used in the past by other students and this template does seem to allow for more information to be provided. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:47, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Marchjuly thank you for taking an interest in our work. I am familiar with the kinds of templates you are suggesting, as is Fransplace, who is actually the best person to discuss this with. My personal opinion, FWIW is that there is not a real point to placing them on articles and in some cases they cause more problems by being there. There is always a way forward and collaboration is key to making things work, thanks again.--Carrolquadrio (talk) 05:34, 13 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students

[edit]

On 11 June 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that it is compulsory for educational providers of international students to register with CRICOS in Australia? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Broken DYK nom

Hey, just letting you know that your DYK nomination at Template:Did you know nominations/Greenlandic people in Denmark had broken syntax and is also incomplete. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Justin Clarke. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Justin Clarke), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Moshe Lang. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 15:09, 24 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Just an FYI that you were listed as the relevant tutor in the appeal linked to this issue. Nosebagbear (talk) 10:44, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Nosebagbear thanks for the ping. I am looking into it. I am not personally familiar with this student ,but they seem to have flipped the 'do not's' from the course material. Bcritical (talk) 09:06, 7 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia assignments

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you've been running student editing assignments for the past couple years, but I'm not sure if you're aware of the Education noticeboard. It's a good idea to let the community know you'll be running classes if you aren't working with one of the established Education programs, and it's a good place to connect with support from the existing program in Australia. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:07, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Ian (Wiki Ed) this course was being run with consultation from Wikipedia Australia. I am not included in those details but I assure you we were working with established programs and the community was aware of the course. Thank you for the concern. @Fransplace Bcritical (talk) 21:55, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
