Kosovo / sports federations
[edit]Hi Bugbear, Could you please take a look at the International Sports Federations bit in the Reaction to Kosovo's Declaration of Independence article. I proposed a change a while ago - people have mostly agreed, but not all. I'm not sure whether the disagreements would rule out an editprotect request or not. Your sage advice required! Many thanks, Bazonka (talk) 19:14, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Done, since the objections didn't seem to be directly to your proposal. If there are direct objections, this decision may have to be revisited.
- Cheers - Revolving Bugbear 19:24, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of 1st parallel south
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 1st parallel south, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
I didn't propose the article, but I did second the proposal. —Latischolartalkcontributions 21:21, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
English Wikipaedia Campaign
[edit]Now then mate, would you like to join a "English English" Wiki split campaign? I've been on WP for years, and tried in vain years ago to do it. I've since observed a lot of Brits share the antipathy towards Americanese on WP. What I noted was that other languages, like Norwegian (Nynorsk & Bokmal) have two WPs; as do others (Dutch, Flemish, Afrikaans...) so there is plenty of precedent. How would you feel about forming a "user group" to actively campaign for the split? The main focus to begin with would be to spread the word and recruit as many people as possible: a few hundred users should have some weight. What do you think?

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
[edit]Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Cuba and St. Kitts MFA evidence
[edit]Bazonka, in the interest of promoting consensus, I struck this evidence from Cuba's write-up, although, as I noted below your vote, I find it highly unlikely that St. Kitts and Nevis did not mean by their "Caribbean states" reference states in a geographical sense (and thus, their island neighbor Cuba). AFAIK neither Mexico nor Mesoamerica are ever spoken of as Carribean#Definition nations. Be that as it may, pls. adjust your vote. Thanks for working cohesively on finally getting this bloody article up to Wikipedia NPOV standards, --Mareklug talk 09:36, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Bangor?
[edit]Dan you legend! So you will be in Bangor on Friday 10th? Im up for a pint, im up for several haha. Out of interest how old are you? Im 18 by the way. Cos it would be kind of complicated if your a lot older than me. But im up for pint. Ijanderson (talk) 17:13, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- You up for a pint then, because I know some good pubs. Some of the pubs in Bongor are a bit dodgey, because the locals are not to keen with the English and a lot of them are out on a Friday night, but I know which pubs are friendly if your still up for pint mate? Ijanderson (talk) 11:29, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ive replied via Email. Reagrds Ijanderson (talk) 12:22, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- Its been very nice meeting you today, interesting conversation. Hope you got home well. Regards Ijanderson (talk) 18:04, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- So thats the poem, cool. Whenever your in Bangor next, let me know as its going to be my home town for the next three years. Cheers Dan, Regards Ijanderson (talk) 12:07, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Nobel for Ahtisaari and the UDI international reaction article
[edit]Thanks for lending a hand and making the information more explicit. As to your doubts as to its relevance, surely it is significant international reaction. It has been commented that way in Serbia (Kostunica, others), Kosovo (Thaci, press), and notable politicians the world over, yes, in the context of Kosovo independence. And the secretary of hte committee went out of his way to endorse Kosovo independence as having no alternatives. These are all highly signifiant reactions. Furhtermore, I suggest we adopt a weight and see attitutde, and see what happens on the recognition front in the wake of this award. My guess is that countries such as Indonesia will use it to justify recognition. Best wishes, --Mareklug talk 19:47, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

horse
[edit]And I always write that he compared me to a horse, and called me a kangaroo, said I was obtuse, dubbed other users' edits as bullshit etc. I am pretty specific and admins supported my warnings to him for such language. Is it OK in your culture to call someone obtuse or call his contribution bullshit as well?--Avala (talk) 13:01, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
St Lucia
[edit]You must have been dreaming mate. St Lucia has really strong relations with Serbia, not to mention all the ethnic Serbs living in St Lucia. St Lucia has vowed never to recognise Kosovo lol Ijanderson (talk) 13:53, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- I was joking lol. They will probs recognise at some point, the US will till them to recognise and they will do as they are told. Regards Ijanderson (talk) 15:21, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- A little bird told me that several Caribbean nations have promised that they will recognise Kosovo Ijanderson (talk) 14:43, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Greek statements
[edit]First of all there is no need to keep the "quotes" because they are obviously misquotes. Second of all, Greek ambassador made a statement not a sentence. There is also no need to run anything through Google Translate when we have a source in English. Some media that translate news to English picked up the most important bits of the statement and published it. For an example Press talks in Serbian about ambassador saying how Karamanlis and Papoulias reiterated the position during the meeting with Cvetkovic in Athens but B92 didn't put that in their English report which clearly shows he made a longer statement than one sentence. And finally "Balkan Insight reporting on Albanian media" is much less precise than saying which media exactly and those are Vizion+ and Koha Ditore. Thank you.--Avala (talk) 21:45, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Irish Ambassador
[edit]The NewKosovaReport article clearly says that the Irish ambassador to Kosovo is based in Budapest, not Belgrade. Not sure why you think that's false information. --alchaemia (talk) 23:20, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
Canada-geo-stubs
[edit]Hi Bazonka - good to see a bunch of new geo-stubs on places in northern Canada! if you make any more, could I ask you to add either {{Nunavut-geo-stub}} or {{NorthwestTerritories-geo-stub}}, rather than the plain ({{Canada-geo-stub}}, please... it saves a bit of work later on (may also be worth adding either Category:Geography of Nunavut or Category:Geography of the Northwest Territories, too). Thanks, and keep up the good work! Grutness...wha? 23:01, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of 104th meridian east
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article 104th meridian east, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Nothing notable about this.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}

AfD nomination of 104th meridian east
[edit]I have nominated 104th meridian east, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/104th meridian east. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. —Largo Plazo (talk) 05:45, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
