Dublin Shopping Centres

[edit]

Please note that a merge of the list of Dublin articles you are proposing here should be notified at Wikipedia talk:Irish Wikipedians' notice board and would require considerable consensus before such a merger would take place. I, for one, am strongly opposed. I was asked, and agreed, to such a solution for Letterkenny; and only in relation to four very poor articles as they are currently written. Shopping

[edit]

Thanks, it was good to reach an agreement on that. Pathless 22:26, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was not aware of any agreement; agreement with who? (Sarah777 16:27, 13 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Shopping Centres

[edit]

We settled arguement on shopping centres in Letterkenny. Going to create article on Shopping in Letterkenny. Do you agree. We are trying to merge other shopping centre articles to new articles. (E.g. Crescent Shopping centre and other shopping centres in limerick merged to shopping in limerick). --Balloholic 22:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That solution sounds fine to me. Best regards (Sarah777 16:09, 13 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Proposed merge

[edit]

These various Dublin shopping centre articles should be merged. Many of the centres are not particularly exceptional in their own right, but could have a place in a larger article on retail in Dublin. Pathless 10:35, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. --Balloholic 11:30, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Strongly Oppose; I agreed to "Shopping in Letterkenny" as a compromise; but Dundrum Shopping Centre (when complete) will be as large as the whole town of Letterkenny. The implication of this is that no separate articles can be written on any shopping centre, no matter how notable. When complete, for example, Dundrum may be the largest in Europe. Rena

[edit]

The article Rena O'Herlihy has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki 17:41, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DO you live in Drumbar you asshole? Its a TOWNLAND you cockhead

Drumbar is in donegal town, you assshole

Thanks for uploading Image:Jerome_Hughes_Death_Threat.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:14, 23 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 11:14, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use disputed for Image:Chesney CS.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Chesney CS.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:25, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Christy Gate Corrie.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Christian Gately Corrie.jpg. The copy called Image:Christian Gately Corrie.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Christy Gate Corrie.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Christy Gate Corrie.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:55, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Berkeley (band)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Berkeley (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. tomasz. 11:12, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this has been nominated for deletion. Please follow the links to contribute to the discussion. Are you actually Jarla Duffy? Please say yes or no and if not say how we have permission to use the cartoon. --Simon Speed (talk) 00:40, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - this is not a nomination, or anything like that. I was just wondering if there was any possibility of resizing that picture of Brenda Fricker? Very nice of you to have put it up, but I don't think anyone except for you can edit it... thanks. AfD nomination of Oliver Horgan

[edit]

An editor has nominated Oliver Horgan, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oliver Horgan and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 13:14, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:50, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Letterkenny Shopping Centre Logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 22:24, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Image:Tubridy Letterkenny Show.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Tubridy Letterkenny Show.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. St Eunan's College - "Disaster"

[edit]

Reference provided does not support any of the assertions that flight difficulties represented "a fight for survival", with "half an engine", and had "extra night's stay in the luxurious Hilton", etc. In the same way that it didn't support the (original) assertion that the plane was flown by a civilian called forward from the cabin and the other sensationalist hoax nonsense submitted by a vandal. All that should be stated (if ANYTHING) is that the plane had to return had to Logan after developing an engine problem. Anything else is not in line with WP:VER. Frankly the whole incident is not notable enough (or sufficiently related to the subject) for inclusion. Guliolopez (talk) 17:36, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Club Voodoo

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Club Voodoo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:John Breslin Breakfast.ogg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:John Breslin Breakfast.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Hi Balloholic!
We thank you for uploading Image:Letterkenny General Hospital Sign.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Proposed deletion of Eamonn Kelly (priest)

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Eamonn Kelly (priest), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Non notable priest, no independent third party refs/sources.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Explain revert - not vandalism

[edit]

Hi. Can you please let me know what lead you to revert my edit? And what led to the assertion that it represented "vandalism"? (Or by a "student" for that matter). Neither assertion is correct. I had removed those "notable alumni" based on the fact that (per WP:BIO and WP:VER) they don't appear to meet the relevant criteria. For example, being a priest is not encyclopedically notable, nor is being a person's parent (notability is not inherited), no articles exist, none of them are cited, etc. Guliolopez (talk) 17:20, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you read up on the policy outlined above if you have not done so already. I'm giving you a single chance to come clean and strike out your comments made under IP sockpuppets at this and this AfD discussion. All three of the IP addresses that you have used to generate fraudulent support resolve to b-ras2.mvw.galway.eircom.net which happens to be the exact same host that your IP address resolved to when you forgot to log in here[1].

I'm willing to accept this whole thing as a misunderstanding and overzealousness. If you choose not to continue using sockpuppets to try swaying AfD discussions, I'm going to initiate a checkuser investigation against you. Trusilver 02:52, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have been accused of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Hi, I see you're moving these... I'd like to say that I was trying to sort the issue of the proper name without concern for whether the article should be deleted. I searched on the name, and two others, and there are many, so if these articles are kept, they should be at a qualified name. See namespace; was have exactly one for articles and these streets have no claim on the unqualified title. Cheers, Jack Merridew 14:30, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think any of these sort of things with generic names need a qualifier (although I'm unsure if the MOS say to use a comma or parentheses). Cheers, Jack Merridew 14:39, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've declined your speedy tag again, for several reasons. First, that is not a valid criteria for deletion if you want a page such as that deleted, take it to WP:MFD. Second, the page you say is about to be deleted was kept yesterday. It is acceptable to have and work on an article in a subpage. If you had a problem with Colonel Wardens page perhaps you should attempt to talk to him about it on his talk page first--Jac16888 (talk) 14:52, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you revert yourself now. It can't be used for recreation of deleted material when the material has not been deleted. Or have you not noticed that the AFD was closed as keep--Jac16888 (talk) 14:57, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Roads and streets in Dublin

[edit]

I'm not sure if you are aware of the arbcom request regarding TTN, but mass nominations of similar articles can cause a lot of grief. Instead of mass nominating these articles for deletion (or in addition), it might prove to be a good idea if you worked on finding concensus on what exactly makes a road notable so that in the end you won't need to nominate any of them anymore. - Mgm|(talk) 20:09, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Pat Shortt Man About Dog.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Pat Shortt Man About Dog.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? (ESkog)(Talk) 17:01, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your audio contributions

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions of OGG files to Wikipedia. However, I wanted to direct your attention to our guideline at Wikipedia:Music samples, which states that such samples of non-free music should be limited to 30 seconds or 10% of the song, whichever is shorter. Please upload shorter versions of the files. If you need assistance with this, let me know and I'll see what I can do. (ESkog)(Talk) 17:07, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:BellX1 Flame.ogg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Fair use images

[edit]

Fair use (non-free) images are considered replaceable for identifying living people, per Wikipedia:Non-free content#Unacceptable use, Images - Item 12. This means that screencaps from TV shows and other photos you did not take yourself are not allowed to be used to illustrate what performers look like in their own biographical articles. Non-free images like this can only be used in articles which describe the programs or the characters themselves. You have uploaded and used many images in this manner, please do not continue to do so. Thanks.— TAnthonyTalk 08:17, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:MacGabhann Architects Logo.jpg needs authorship information.

[edit]
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:MacGabhann Architects Logo.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided),authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:{{subst:usernameexpand|Balloholic}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:57, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Packets of Soup.jpg

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Tom Redden Scoil Colmcille.ogg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Tom Redden Scoil Colmcille.ogg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Guliolopez (talk) 23:20, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
