2006 Kenyan elections

Hi. There is an interview of Julian Assange on youtube at a forum in which he discusses the leaking of documents related to Daniel arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki which exposes corruption etc. Assange claims that they directly influenced the elections by publishing the documents in newspapers in neighboring countries to Kenya in the run up to the elections and influenced a 10% swing in the votes. This is a huge claim and I think the wikileaks influence should be mentioned in all articles. Can you research thi and verify it and perhaps mention it in the articles if it is true?♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:46, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Can you add births and deaths to 1990 in Albania?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:38, 16 December 2010 (UTC)

Whetumarama Wereta

Dear Aymatth2 - splendid work on Whetumarama Wereta. I have removed New Zealand Political Scientists: David B. MacDonald, Barry Gustafson, Whetumarama Wereta. because I think it is a funny book just made from our wikipedia pages. I have been nearly caught out by these things in the past. I think it is not a proper book just a print on demand set of wikipedia pages assembled via our catgories. If you know differently please put it back but I am pretty sure of this. Best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 21:18, 13 December 2010 (UTC))

Ekal Vidyalaya

It is a shame that you continue to publish with limited background, understanding, or care for education in India. I urge you to visit an Ekal school, and understand the organization prior to pasting. In the pasting that you continue to paste on the page, you slander the organization. No doubt, your slant continues to infiltrate the Indian landscape. As a true believe in primary education and education as a whole, I can assure you that you work is harmful. At the end of the day, you continue to do what you do, and though it be wrong, like the way the world works, your extremist views overwhelm those in the middle. So while you have incorrectly posted things like "hindu nationalism" and "hatred" and 'associated with the RSS and VHP,' your voice -- i.e. -- your understanding of the wiki environment is superior to that who run the organization. However, again, go and visit a school, speak to the children who currently receive funding and will no longer receive funding due to your slander. There are ample media material and studies that go for and against any side. And you have chosen a side, rather than make an accurate decision. And so youve pasted. And so, your 'hate' is appreciated. Please do your research prior to editing the article. 66.194.2.9 (talk) 21:09, 20 December 2010 (UTC)Peacewithyou

Sorry to distract you once again but I'm in the middle of cleaning up some Bangladeshi cities and came across info about Shamsher Gazi which I moved to a seperate article from the Comilla article. A quick google search indicates he is verifiable and seems an important figure. Notice his articles also brings to light some important historical Bangladeshi events such as the 1764 peasant's revolt and even some rivers which I don't think are covered. Some mention here of the peasant's revolt. As you are better at writing biographies and history stuff than I am I thought you might like to improve it or explore it a bit. DEFAULTSORT

Just a reminder that DEFAULTSORT uses a colon, not a pipe. For example, {{DEFAULTSORT:Matinga, Charles}} is correct; {{DEFAULTSORT|Matinga, Charles}} is not correct. —Paul A (talk) 02:35, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Yes, it can be confusing. The problem is Wikipedia has two different things that are written {{like this}}. {{something|param}} is for templates, and {{something:param}} is for magic words - the trick is recognising magic words when you see them. —Paul A (talk) 03:03, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Mercado Jamaica

Its got to be a typo.... Ive been there, there is no way there are 5,000 growers when there are only 1.150 stalls and over half of them are used for the trucks of the venders. The word has to be "productos" not "productores"... The vendors are "chilangos", not from Chiapas, Veracruz etc... Its a wholesaler, not a farmers market.Thelmadatter (talk) 02:12, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

I've begun developing List of hotels. I think we should at least have a list of the top hotels by country. Probably best to have a basic list initially of the truly notable hotels. This page gets searched for a few times a day by browsers looking for a decent list. might take some time to draw up though. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:08, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Managed to request photos of Novotel COnakry. I've also requested this. nice photo?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:26, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

I successfully mananged to request license changes for both COnakry hotels. If there are any images you want let me know and I'll ask. Somewhat annoyingly List of hotels is now up for deletion which is intended to be a selected list of the most notable hotels by country, e.g those which have coverage in multiple publications.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:05, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Yeah i did try to find images of the hospitals on flickr. No luck. I guess they're not exactly typical touristy buildings...♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:29, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

So do you deny being obsessive with wikipedia? Just curious. I prefer to use the word "passionate". Because I think the reason you edit wikipedia is because so much work needs doing in undeveloped topics on here and enjoy building coverage of parts which have not been covered before. Pretty much why I edit wikipedia. Maybe its obsessive to spent hours on here every day and actually caring about building content, but I'm no different in that respect to most of the active editors on here. Something like wikipedia has never happened in history before and given that when I was younger I never had the Internet privelage and the chance to work at building such an ambitious project in which we can choose what we want to contribute. I do not see how my work at listing notable buildings in Guinea was "obsessive". Would you want your work wasted and deleted when it can be improved? Please explain. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:15, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Well i would say that your "jigsaw" type article in which you piece together using scraps from google books are the most valuable on wikipedia in my view. they are most often subjects which have never been written about properly on the internet before and these are exactly the sorts of articles I commend you for. Where we differ is that I'm content for a few lines with reliable sources as a start on a subject but you must expand it behond stub class. I agree that's the best way, but I often lack the concentration you consistently have in writing articles. Like you I also despair at times at how poor the content is and cleanup mostly but when I feel positive and see articles being expanded I want to create more. I'm undoubtedly too optimistic at times but what keeps me motivated is the potential wikipedia has for improvement and how we can increasingly access material we've never been able to access before.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:10, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Piantadino. Can you help demonstrate notability, I say its best to cover the comic and film in one. The nominator is convinced the film is non notable, clueless clearly that 1950 Argentine films are not exactly thriving with good sources online.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:53, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for starting Mazzone. You know though about Template:PD-AR-Photo. Free images older than twenty years from Argentina,♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:51, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Not sure. Put I think any work around 1940 in Argentina must be public domain by now. I vaguely remember seeing some about 50 years or something for art work/film images. And 20 years for general photographs.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:57, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

I honestly believe them to be public domain by now. But they are so tight with copyvios on here that they probably find some reason to delete them. Mmm i recommend asking User:Calliopejen1, From what I recall its something to do with 50 years afterwards or something for art work to become public domain. Can't believe El Mundo was missing, I could have sworn we had an article on it already..♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:21, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

I'm having trouble with The Rabbit Is Me. If you read the DEFA source given there was a political context for why it was banned to do with the Rechst...... It keeps mention this 11th something or other which is red linked. Can you try to figure out the context and expand it? It seems like an important political article is missing too. Google book search the German title should turn up loads of hits.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:15, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

If you ever want to find old photographs related to Argentine culture try Acceder, buenosaires. It has an astounding number of photos. The 71 there you see for that film are all images taken on set and given that its from 1942 could be uploaded to the commons. There are hundredsof films with similar images. If you search under author or whatever you might also find photos of famous Argentineans which are public domain.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:27, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I started Adam and Evil (film) when I started Adam and Evil (song) which was redirected. It does look like the sort of crappy teen B horror movie I loathe indeed. I think its borderline notable. I certainly wouldn't normally have started it but for the fact I was creating another page under the same name...♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:44, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for that. Yeah Andrew is just about notable I think but seems more notable behind the scenes than as a director. Its probably not the sort of content you like working on, me neither, I like subjects to have loads of google book sources but I still think they just about reach requirements.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:03, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

"Acquisitions Decision"

Hello!

This [1] was half (or perhaps three-quarters) intended as vandalism ("I know it when I see it", goes the old saw), but the Stuckist polemic against the degree to which the idea of conceptualism had overtaken the figurative arts highlights some points that are made in Authenticity in art. Martin Luther starts out, saying "When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, 'Repent', he willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance." This in mind, Tracey Emin's red knickers are worth GBP 10000, and anyone else's are worthless. This, at least, is Serota's (and a substantial fraction of the public's) stance. 74.65.111.74 (talk) 04:19, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

Mmm, hearing Bono speak and reading his article (and Angelina Jolie's) , narcissistic philanthropy comes to mind. That would make an interesting article I think... Sure they genuinely want to help people in poor countries but I get, especially with Bono that he loves being seen as some sort of saint.. As caring as I think Angelina Jolie really is I'm pretty sure she loves the image that comes with it and being seen like a Mother Teresa figure... ♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:40, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

I have giving Wikipedia the best any editor will want to give an organisation even without charge.I worked tireless to see that i expand wikipedia's articles quest by adding more articles,i wish i had known you earlier enough because your kindness is unquantifiable, doing a great job on Congress for political change without hurting me.You wrote an article and i wrote the same article and you did not delete it or did something that will hurt me,and now i feel happy even though one of my articles is merged,i wasn't affected. Thanks, and can you help me on an issue that is on my mind always,i was pressed down, sometime ago(if i will use the term wikibullied).
I gave my time on an article which i created,it was the longest article i wrote on wikipedia.I received a message that the article suffered from copyright materials and the page was blanked and it was deleted a few hours after.
Here are these articles on Religion in Nigeria,Geography of Nigeria,i met these two are articles uncompleted as an annonymous(even before i became logged in to Wikipedia).
I contributed to them and it was through them that i knew how to log in and became registered to wikipedia and i discovered that if not for my little addition(contributions),they were totally made up of materials copied verbatim from references given (as if the editors were in a hurry to cover that feild),go to the history of these given articles and you will see many of my contributions in fact,my earlier one's were as an annonymous editor. Was it because of my low edit counts then, that this article Festivals in Nigeria was deleted and these articles that i have given you were left because of the number of edits there editors have? or the very high and powerful niches that there editors have already carved out for themselves after some rank attainment and recognition? Then,i should not have been made to have undergone what i went through.

These articles that i have brought up,they have begun receiving attention as their readership is increasing and over sometime now,i am impressed with the amount of contributions from both experienced and annonymous editors that are expanding these articles and changing them.Is it not with time that the reputation of an article will be Known?

No one contributed to that article (Festivals in Nigeria) yet before it was deleted, and i assure you that the article is good. Please kindly restore it back and read it for yourself. It is an article that no editor is willing to write but i completed it.It is long with a picture (Durbar festival in particular, and the picture has been uploaded already in wikicommons). Thanks Aymatth2, Earlymen message me! 06:30, 24 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks

Hello Aymatth2. I'm just stopping by to say thanks for the help and encouragement you provided to User:Earlymen. The international collaboration across the continents is one of the most fascinating aspects of this part of Wikipedia (actually, that's why I decided to contribute here despite my poor command of English :) It isn't easy to learn to understand even the basic rules of Wikipedia, and it is important to find a good and friendly way of communication with people who only learn about this project and whose cultural background may differ from "Western" settings. Your approach is admirable. Thank you again. Best regards. --Vejvančický (talk | contribs) 09:07, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Aymatth2. You have new messages at Dabomb87's talk page.
Message added 01:35, 8 May 2011 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Next (Nigeria), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.mediaupdate.co.za/?IDStory=20557.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Question

I didn't follow what you meant with that Nigerian biography. You worded it strangely. Did you want me to try to find a free image or something? I was wondering if you could help find something on Marjan Bojadziev, I'm convinced he is notable.♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:21, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

You mean his artwork? Mm dunno. I suppose you could get away with one or two if they are used for critical commentary. ALthough image copyright has become increasingly baffling as I've experienced recently with dresses..♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:50, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Ah but the copyright paranoiacs would claim the small picture of a painting would almost certainly be used as a blueprint to forge actual copies of the painting and sell them for $1 million a piece and would result in the author suing wikipedia for $16 million, wiping out the entire year's budget, causing the website to shut down. Sound far-fetched? Well this is what a lot of images I've seen deleted coming down to..♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:23, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Federal Ministries of Nigeria

Hi Aymatth,

Thank you for contacting me about the change I made to Template:Federal Ministries of Nigeria. On second consideration, I agree that "Federal Ministries of Nigeria" is the more appropriate title for the template. It would also make sense to link the title to Nigerian_Civil_Service#Ministries. There is no immediate need for a stand-alone list, but I think that would be a natural development if further work is done on expanding the Nigerian Civil Service article. As a sidenote, I am quite impressed by what you have written on your userpage; more editors should be so thorough in thinking through the influence of our edits on the basic goals of the project.

Happy editing,

Hi Aymatth,
That looks great. I've created a talk page for the new article and included the navbox at the base.

It seems to me to be duplication to put the date of birth in the body of the article when it is always present in the introduction. Deb (talk) 07:48, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:The_Mission_at_Lagos_1885.png

Thanks for uploading File:The_Mission_at_Lagos_1885.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 04:40, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Spelling correction for the name of Diezani Alison-Madueke

Hi Aymatth2 According to Google.com.ng there are 156,000 instances of Alison whereas the incorrect Allison is used in 114,000 pages. My changes were made by the request of a family member. Here are my Google queries: http://www.google.com.ng/#q=%22Diezani+Alison-Madueke%22&hl=en&prmd=ivns&source=lnt&tbs=ctr:countryNG&cr=countryNG&sa=X&ei=p0X_TfwWh8qEB-33qPAM&ved=0CAcQpwUoAQ&fp=ef87817d4b83fb29&biw=1680&bih=798 = 156,000 http://www.google.com.ng/#hl=en&cr=countryNG&tbs=ctr:countryNG&q=%22Diezani+Allison-Madueke%22&oq=%22Diezani+Allison-Madueke%22&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=89176l89176l4l1l1l0l0l0l0l0l0ll0&fp=ef87817d4b83fb29&biw=1680&bih=798 = 114,000 May correctness prevail :) Olafur (talk) 13:24, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

More on Alison-Madueke

As everyone knows, spelling of names can be a bit of a jungle, not the least in Africa. I'm afraid the Wikipedia article is responsible for a lot of the misspellings of this minister's name. I guess we will have to produce her birth certificate as a source. Best regards 194.144.116.203 (talk) 13:43, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

The Wikipedia article is not responsible for the way her husband's name is spelled in most books. Almost all of them were published long before the article was created. Aymatth2 (talk) 13:55, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

I saw you created your gazillionith Nigerian article. A bot tags the talk page with the biography banner and I come by and add the listas, defaultsort and other fun-filled stuff. Could you do me a favor, when you create a Nigerian article, could you set the DEFAULTSORT value to what you think it should be. Your alot more knowledgeable than me. btw... why the interest in Nigeria? I bet you have an interesting story about that. Bgwhite (talk) 03:39, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
