An exciting opportunity to improve yourself!

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 05:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

The phrase largely fictitious organisation devoted to psychogeography makes the subject sound like a hoax. Autarch (talk) 18:07, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps you should check out more about Psychogeography. As the project questioned the construction of social reality, the phrase largely fictitious organisation attempts to capture this ambiguity. If you feel this makes the subject sound like a hoax, perhaps you could find a better way of articulating this rather than disputing the truthfulness of a well referenced article.Harrypotter (talk) 21:53, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

The phrase largely fictitious organisation seems in breach of WP:WEASEL and questions the existence of the organisation. (The article has also been tagged for weasel words since.) It thus seems reasonable to question whether the article refers to a real organisation. As for the article on psychogeography, it has been tagged for being like an essay and may contain weasel words. Possible vandalism at The Colm & Jim-Jim Breakfast Show

Yeah, it seems to be a vandalism magnet. I notice that one of the vandals has violated your username now as well. Unfortunately I don't have much time to sort it out right now as I'm catching up on other areas but hopefully I will have time to look into it at the weekend. Good work on what you've done so far though. --candlewicke 18:02, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

While dealing with a bit of a mess pertaining to your username, I found that you (or rather, Twinkle's AES) described this edit as 'vandalism reversion'. In all honesty, I don't see what's ill-intentioned about the edit you were reverting; could you explain? DS (talk) 14:36, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gerry Francis Ridsdale. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Ironholds (talk) 18:51, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Timeline of Catholic sexual abuse scandal in Ireland requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. —ShadowRanger (talk|stalk) 21:43, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Autarch! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 271 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Cora Venus Lunny - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

AfD nomination of Christy Burke

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Christy Burke. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christy Burke. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Autarch - if you're going to multi-tag a page like this, I suggest two things:

  • use the 'multiple issues' temple, rather than multiple templates
  • create a section in the talk page and state your reason for the tag

The way you've done it, your tagging looks over-the-top, and is likely to be ignores/removed by some other editor who thinks you're just being spieful. --Ludwigs2 15:53, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

I have just noticed a user that has no user account, but is generally adding things in what appears to be a commercial basis. The IP address is 83.141.122.2, take a look at the contribs and you will see what I mean. What should be done about this? I noticed it on the Grand Canal Theatre article as they appear to be just adding upcoming events. I don't really see the point of doing this on an article, but anyway. Should I just ignore this or what? Any advice please? Oh, and I don't think you are admin, but you certainly know the ropes. --DubhEire (talk) 23:49, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:45, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Irish Go Association requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Codf1977 (talk) 10:37, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading File:AvivaStatiumFromShelbourneRoad.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk 02:27, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

MILHIST Military Aviation Questionaire

Hi Autarch! As your MILHIST Military Avation Task Force coordinator, I'd like to conduct a short questionaire to give me an idea of what you would the task force to achieve and the capabilities of yours that might contribute positively to the task force. The four questions of this questionaire are:

  1. What are your strengths on Wikipedia?
  2. Which four military aviation articles would you like to see be promoted to at least GA?
  3. What detailed resources (books, journals, etc) about military aviation do you have access to? Please provide the publications' authors, titles and ISSNs/ISBNs.
  4. Which three military aviation articles are you wiling to provide assistance? This can be expansion, copyediting, reference formatting, etc.

Please reply by copying and pasting the following at User talk:Sp33dyphil#MILHIST Military Aviation questionnaire and filling it out.

Hi. When you recently edited British propaganda during World War II, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page London Transport (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
