[edit]Hi, I removed your FAC nomination of Jane Manning James as being out of process. Per the FAC instructions, you should nominate only articles for which you are one of the primary contributors. - Hi, Rachel Helps! I do think that she would be an excellent candidate for featured article, besides being a fascinating person, a movie just came out about her relationship with Emma Smith! Most of the issues with her page (in my opinion) dealt mainly with the use of primary sources, but I tracked down some articles and fixed the problem, but I guess I am not a consistent-enough editor of her article to nominate her...It would be fantastic if she could be, though! My student worker who did most of the edits no longer works for me though, and I'm not sure if I qualify as a primary contributor either. - @Rachel Helps (BYU): Whoops, I forgot to reply to this. Primary sources can generally be used for basic facts about the subject that are unlikely to be the subject of disputes. When it comes to notable activities, secondary sources should be used as they tend to be neutral and dispassionate when writing about the subject. On the topic of primary contributors: We really just want to ensure that the nominator is familiar enough with the sources used in the article that they can answer questions, perform verification, and be able to address reviewer comments in FAC. So, access to the sources used to write the article is critical. There is also the question of "credit", which is another reason why the primary contributors should at least be given the opportunity to sign off on the nomination. --Laser brain (talk) 17:54, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
