Thanks Ray and Shyamal for inviting me, I will love to contribute much more to Wikipedia on India’s Natural Heritage and Wildlife etc. which are interests close to my heart but I am still not so good in keyboarding, that makes me really very slow. I really admire the work on Wikipedia that anybody can access easily, especially the growing work on wildlife and conservation in India that you all are generating. I am glad you all have got together for Wikipedia:WikiProject Protected areas of India and am sure overtime coordinated effort by members will improve the coverage systematically. I feel very happy that in the long-term this material will be easily available to younger generation, school kids and budding naturalists not only of our region but worldwide spurring their love and respect for environment as a whole.
I really admire your efforts and enjoy your work.

Re: Hello wake up .... etc. (Common Indian Monitor regarding Historical Anecdote)
Since you added the info, it is YOUR task to provide a reference for it. Please provide it, otherwise the anecdote will be removed shortly. Thanks. --Ragib 21:56, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
References I could find
- Tanaji Malusare used Shivaji's famous pet ghorpad named "Yeshwanti" with a rope tied around its waist for climbing the walls of the Sinhagad fort from it's steepest and least guarded side in the dead of a moonless night during the Battle of Sinhagad
- Tanaji and the brave Mavalas numbering 300, scaled the vertical cliff using ropes tied to a Ghorpad
Please wait for help from others

- Let's look at why these references are NOT all useful. The first one is from a Music site!! The second one is from indbazaar.com. None of these sources are valid or even scholarly historical sources. Please look into reliable sources policy for citations. Any one can open a website and claim amazing things, and that doesn't automatically become true. This is an encyclopedia, and hence needs to have information verifiable from reliable sources. Unfortunately, none of the above count as such. Thank you. --Ragib 23:04, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I noticed User:Ragib started editing the the bengal monitor page by distorting the historical anecdote of Maratha over Mugal victory first. Strange. Made it into a "persistant myth" from fact, now he wants a reference for each sentence otherwise he threatened to take the pagragraph out.
Atulsnischal 00:38, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Huh? Where does "maratha vs Mughal" even come into the picture!!! You add a tidbit to an article, when asked for references provide a google cache link to a music site, and now making even more misleading claims about what I stated!! Why don't you just provide a reference for the information, from a reliable source (which is not from a google cache of a music site). Verifiability is Wikipedia's basic principle, and instead of finding hidden motives, why don't you just dig up a usable reference? Waiting for that. (I frankly don't care whatever the myth is about, but it needs to be verifiable. Thanks. --Ragib 00:48, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have just replied on the talk / discussion page of Bengal monitor. Please follow discussion there. Thanks

- Apparently the topic has been discussed in a paper in the Hamadryad. RAMAKRISHNA, N.1983. The unknown soldier. Hamadryad 8 (2):11-12. This is supposed to have information that all army soldiers were trained in the use of Ghorpads. It may have been followed by rejoinders, unfortunately I do not have access to the paper. This could be cited after sufficient study of this and other relevant literature. There is apparently another mention in GADDOW,H. 1901. The Cambridge Natural History. Volume 6: Amphibians and Reptiles. Macmillan, London. But if it was really of veracity, I think Auffenberg would have mentioned it or reviewed it in his comprehensive book on the species. A pity he is no more. Shyamal 08:15, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
thumb sizing
Plese don't hard-code pixel sizing in thumbnails. This is contrary to the MOS and overrides user preferences. If you don't like the size it show up on your monitor, go to the "my preferences" tab, and under file settings adjust the size that thumbs are presented when you log in. Your (Atulsnischal) article Wildlife of India
Dear Atulnischal, I'm not sure what grand plan you have in mind, but copying the section on Flora and Fauna from the India page and pasting it to create a new article and then referencing it on the India page itself requires some explanation. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 23:08, 12 February 2007 (UTC) User talk:Saravask
"Wildlife of India" deserves an article in its own right, "Wildlife of India" is a popular term that people look for and search for on the internet, school kids, nature lovers and people who want to go on nature and eco-tourism trips etc. General people and younger generation looking for Info on Indian wildlife do not look for scientific and little known and boring words like Fauna or Flora or terminology like Protected areas of India etc. All this can be brought together under "Wildlife of India" article by a popular and commonly used and searched name. As per the content of this article: everybody is free to edit and add info on it.
Thanks, sincerely

Look if you are going to start wildlife gfor every country across the entirely of Asia even when bpages such as Flora of India and Fauna of India exist at least add some info such as I have done to Wildlife of Afghanistan. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 23:41, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
I have deleted the Inidan subcintinent one though -but have place dthe expand and clean uptags within the pages of the indiviual countries. Look if you are going to start new pages can you please add some sourced information. These pages a have a mass of potential this is why I saved them for you. You need to learn that this encylopedia has standards even for new articles -information can be easily retrived from google but PLEASE try to avoid direct copywright. Also try not to include a list of like 100 see also!!! Ten times the length of the article itself just a few will do fine which are DIRECTLY related . Good luck.
