[edit]I'll try and work on something, later (I'm currently a little busy). Unfortunately, as of yet, I can't seem to find any written sources that discuss his personality. As for his appearance, do you mean what he looks like? There's his artwork(s), such as the FETCG one, if you want to give that a go. I'm actually not good at describing what people/characters look like. Aveyn Knight 19:12, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Super Mario RPG lists
[edit]Currently, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars has two lists pertaining to it (List of characters in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars). User:TTN decided it would be best to merge the lists into the main article and split Smithy Gang into those articles. I recently merged Smithy Gang into the list of chatacters by removing the non-notable characters, and I have asserted that a cameo section in the list of characters is valid, per Wikipedia:Trivia sections and Wikipedia:Handling trivia that uses Alex Trebek#Cameos as a good example. I have suggested that we rename the articles per Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting potentially controversial moves to something along the lines of Characters of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and World of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars or Mushroom Kingdom (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) just like Characters of Final Fantasy VIII and World of Final Fantasy VI or Gaia (Final Fantasy VII). I believe if these articles are to evolve beyond a non-notable list, they should be renamed. For example, List of Final Fantasy VII locations was merged into Gaia (Final Fantasy VII), because a World article is notable, but a simple list of locations is not. That is why there are other secions of the article to make it a World article. It simply has not been renamed yet.
TTN believes the citations in the development and reception sections of the list of locations, books and magazines, are trivial sources. When I added that the 3D perspective of the game is reminicent of Equinox to the main article, TTN removed it since my souce was "the opinions of the Nintendo Power player's guide writers". Although it was actually Nintendo Power magazine, I do believe a magazine is a reliable source, and I gave a page from Next Generation Magazine which also said the same thing. In addition, I was surprized that TTN said that it was from the players guide, since he claims to own the players guide for the game. He has not verified this, since I asked him for citations in May, "Could you look in the back of the Player's Guide and tell me what “types” of … Magic? I forgot what they call it in the game … well, anyways, what types of Special Attack or whatever it is (actually, could you find out what it's called?) there are? I remember some vaguely when I owned the guide like “Fire”, “Jump”, “Electricity?”, etc. Could you provide a citation, like the page number with a quote in context?" TTN replied that he was going to "get to it" (User talk:TTN/Archive 5#List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars). TTN claims the player's guide is "at the bottom of a box that's behind at least five others in a cramped space". Seeing that TTN did not recognize that the page was not from the player's guide when I provided a scan of the page in question from Nintendo Power shocked me. However, I have continued to assume good faith by not questioning TTN's honesty.
Per Wikipedia:Consensus#Consensus can change, I have offered five different reasonable, temporary compromises that might integrate my idea with TTN's.
- Go over the list of characters so we can delete non–notable characters
- Rename the articles by following the steps at Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting potentially controversial moves.
- Cut down the geography section list of locations by cutting it into the regional maps the adventures use when traveling from one to another. I can get pictures and write the fair use rationals, and someone can cut down the text that has no citation and does not allude to other media.
- Write the concept and creation and reception sections for the list of characters
- Write the concept and creation section for the main article
TTN rejected my compromise because it still keeps the articles. I agreed I would consider a redirect, but Wikipedia:Article size does not allow that, since the list of locations is currently 82 KB long. Instead, I agreed to help cut down the geography section that is the bulk of the article, but TTN rejected that as well because TTN states, "I am not interested in working on the article in regards to improving it." and "get past this "having sources automatically means that this information is good" mentality." TTN states, "I don't think they have or will ever assert notability." I have replied with, "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, so if you don't think the articles will ever assert notability, we cannot yet know this, per Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions#I don't like it.
Would you please take a look at Talk:Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and give us your thoughts? Taric25 00:58, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ashnard, want to solve the above thing? I'd be willing to work on it tomorrow (GMT), but doing stuff like this alone is bad for sanity. User:Krator (t c) 00:13, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Your opinion on FE sites
[edit]Hey, there was always something bothering me, and I thought you were the most neutral and sensible person to ask (that and you're at least familiar to me). Basically, what are your thoughts on replacing the English Fire Emblem Documentary (EFED) link, at the main Fire Emblem series page, with (you can probably guess) Serenes Forest (my site). This is just a thought of mine.
Now, I would be lying if I didn't say it was partly for my own good. However, I am pretty sure now that my site has more content than EFED (or, at least, equal). So content-wise, I don't see any reason why my site shouldn't be listed in its place. After all, originally it was agreed to keep the fansite with the most content. In the past, EFED was vastly superior, but lately their updates have slowed down and I have been able to catch up and surpass them (which is kind of ironic, since I made my site first, and Eaichu- the webmaster- made his site to compete with mine XD).
However, if there are any issues or comments about this replacement, I would like to hear them. Personally I don't think my site is ready just yet, due to my relatively bandwidth (however, there are some tricks that I can do to spread it out). Radiant Dawn, alone, gives a sizable amount of hits, and I worry that my site won't be able to take the traffic from the (more visited) main page (and when Radiant Dawn is released in America, it's probably going to explode...). Aveyn Knight 20:51, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks. That was very helpful and removed a lot of my worry. I actually didn't know there was such a statement in the guidelines, about linking to your own site, but it's bordering on common sense I guess.
- I will put this up for discussion at the Fire Emblem main page, once I'm ready, which should be in a couple of weeks time. I'm also hoping to fix up the aesthetics during that time, although that may be the hardest thing for me to tackle. Aveyn Knight 14:48, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
GA
[edit]I complained about that (the "broad coverage" aspect) too over on Big Rigs, but it was still denied. I've taken that to conclude that most of the articles I've worked on in User:Hbdragon88/contrib will never reach GA status just because it is impossible to find such source material. I say that seeing Fire Emblem article passing w/o development is a flaw on those reviewer's part, because SPP was downed for a lack of dev, so was Big Rigs. I do welcome wider input in the form of a WP:GAR if this standard (based on the prcedents I see) is correct, or whether the Fire Emblem precedent is correct. hbdragon88 06:45, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Fire Emblem DS, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Improbcat 17:03, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

As you're probably still wanting to get that article up to FA, a comment at its last FLC was directed to the in universe style of the prose. Take a look at Characters of Kingdom Hearts for an excellent example of out of universe prose. This is not connected to the actual sources or information - just the style the prose is written in. Hello Ashnard
[edit]I am newly registered on Wikipedia although I have worked as an anon for some time. Just out of curiosity how does one change the rating (so to speak) of an article? I want to remove the notice from the Cutler Beckett page saying it's a start-class article. Illustrious One (Recieve my Majesty) —Preceding comment was added at 17:50, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by strangely familiar but I noticed you advise that anon on the Cutler Beckett page to change the template saying it was a stub so I thought I'd ask you. I didn't read the instructions on my page for editing, I have a very short attention span you know. I wanted to remove the template saying it was a start-class article on the grounds that it didn't describe the character from an in-universe perspective in my opinion although I've taken another look at the page and it does a bit now. Super Smash Bros. Melee as a GAC
[edit]I'm not surprised. If Warhawk (PlayStation 3 game) can get passed as a GA recently, why shouldn't a better article (but still GA-failing) article such as this one get pushed as a GA? The history of both articles' push to GA is the same, a user keep nominating it up despite previous failures until someone or a fan of the game takes pity and passes the game as a GA. To discourage such behaviour, Warhawk along with other GA-ranked game guides should be first challenged as a GA and delisted, otherwise they will only encourage other editors into pushing game guides as GAs, and people who aren't aware of game article guidelines constantly passing them as GAs. 220.255.4.136 (talk) 22:32, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- The nom. has been removed per your request. I apologize if I was too forthright with my nomination of the article. It was an attempt at getting more eyes to look at the article, outside of peer review.

Quote needed for SSBM - might this work?
[edit]Hello Ashnard, I notice you're busy trying to get the article to FA status. When correcting what looked like a speeling error I noticed that there's a blanked-out section about Snake not being added due to lack of time. It stuck because that very statement seemed very familiar. Er, shoot me if it's not what's needed but this Kotaku interview is already referenced in the Smash Brothers Brawl article and seems to cover that statement in SSBM (or an edited version of it). Best of luck with the FA. Someone another (talk) 04:27, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
REf after punctuation
[edit]I think you may have misread the MoS at WP:Citing sources#Where to place ref tags
Some words, phrases or facts must be referenced mid-sentence, while others are referenced at the end. Frequently, a reference tag will coincide with punctuation and many editors put the reference tags after punctuation (except dashes), as is recommended by the Chicago Manual of Style (CMoS).[1] Some editors prefer the style of journals such as Nature which place references before punctuation. If an article has evolved using predominantly one style of ref tag placement, the whole article should conform to that style unless there is a consensus for changing it.
