Your contributed article, Solebury Township, Pennsylvania Shootings
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Solebury Township, Pennsylvania Shootings. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – July 2017 Pennsylvania murders. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at July 2017 Pennsylvania murders. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. reddogsix (talk) 20:10, 15 July 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Christmas carol
[edit]I believe Christmas carol is the better name for an article about what a Christmas carol is, and Christmas carols could be a redirect to the list of them.
- When I write ain an article "so+so is a Christmas carol", do you expect me to write a piped linked to avoid a redirect?
- We have Christmas cantata, describing what a Christmas cantata is.
- A search within Wikipedia will be successful already after typing "Christmas car" - regardless of what follows.
- Yes, when you search by Google you land at the list, but that IS the better and more substantial aarticle. As that will remain so, the little "s" at the end won't change much.
How about simply self-reverting your move? Happy 2020! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:30, 31 December 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Simon Conway
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Simon Conway, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Gilmore, Kentucky requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Jim Haynes RIP
[edit]Hi! Writing to you as you seem to be the most recent person to work on the article about my friend Jim Haynes who died last week. Someone has put a silly Arabic caption by his name but I can’t see how to remove it. Jim was not Arab nor (so far as I know) did he speak or write Arabic. If I’m wrong, then at least, in an article written in English, someone should explain what the caption is about (Google Translate suggests the phrase is nonsense).
You seem to be an experienced editor, can you fix this? Many thanks 95.146.83.235 (talk) 18:23, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The caption appears to be "in Masry, the language spoken by millions in Egypt." To get an infobox into the article quickly, I used a call for Wikidata information (first time ever I tried it this way). What seems to be happening is that if the Egyptian wiki uses a photograph, its caption gets pulled in by Wikidata. I've seen this before in Wikimedia Commons Wikidata infoboxes, but never chased it down to see what it was about. The solution would seem to be to insert a standard infobox template into the article (while removing the Wikidata infobox call code from the top of the article).--Artaxerxes (talk) 13:14, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Don't do that please, especially not with that somewhat passive-aggressive and certainly insulting "his/her". Drmies (talk) 01:46, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Artaxerxes. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Our Community Place, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. The contents and edit pattern suggests you may have undisclosed relationship with this organization. Graywalls (talk) 23:29, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

Marcus Lamb
[edit]I think I must misunderstand your edit summary at Marcus Lamb. There is no evidence that I am aware of that ivermectin does anything for COVID, and continuing to promote it once that was clear appears to have most or all of the features of a conspiracy theory. See Ivermectin during the COVID-19 pandemic. Am I missing something? This is not even getting into the anti-vax stuff, described as a conspiracy theory under our COVID-19 misinformation article, and again, having many or most of the features of a conspiracy theory.
