Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Guild of Copy Editors September 2016 News

Guild of Copy Editors September 2016 News

Hello everyone, and welcome to the September 2016 GOCE newsletter.

>>> Sign up for the September Drive, already in progress! <<<

July Drive: The July drive was a roaring success. We set out to remove April, May, and June 2015 from our backlog (our 149 oldest articles), and by 23 July, we were done with those months. We added July 2015 (66 articles) and copy-edited 37 of those. We also handled all of the remaining Requests from June 2016. Well done! Overall, we recorded copy edits to 240 articles by 20 editors, reducing our total backlog to 13 months and 1,656 articles, the second-lowest month-end total ever.

August Blitz: this one-week copy-editing blitz ran from 21 through 27 August; the theme was sports-related articles in honor of the 2016 Summer Olympics. Of the eight editors who signed up, five editors removed 11 articles from the backlog. A quiet blitz – everyone must be on vacation. Barnstars and rollover totals are located here. Thanks to all editors who took part.

Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators: Jonesey95, Corinne and Tdlsk.

Rollback granted

Hi AntiCompositeNumber. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! MusikAnimal talk 16:10, 26 September 2016 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hello AntiCompositeNumber. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria.

  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. MusikAnimal talk 23:30, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

File:Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi.jpg

Hello, I noticed that you placed deletion tag on File:Aaj Ki Raat Hai Zindagi.jpg. I want to know why? Same description has been given on this file also. See File:Title Screen of Show.jpg. Why isn't this file nominated for deletion? Mr. Smart ℒION☎️05:13, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Hello! As you may know, Wikipedia has strict guidelines for use of non-free content. In order to use a copyrighted image on Wikipedia, the person who adds the image to an article is responsible for demonstrating that the file meets all 10 Non-free content criteria. Even if the image meets all the criteria, it can still be deleted if it does not demonstrate that using a Non-free use rationale. Even though boilerplate responses can be used, a NFUR can't just be copied from one file to the next. The Non-free content criteria have to be considered for each use. If you have more questions, feel free to reply or ask at the Media copyright questions page.
I hadn't seen the other file you linked, but looking at it it looks like it has multiple problems.
AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 15:06, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
OK, I'll try to fullfill the details in the "Summary" section of the file. Mr. Smart ℒION☎️17:42, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Need Help - Images, Non-Free Template

Hi, I noticed that you recently changed the images I did to non-free game screenshot, bar one (the Top Gear one). I'm working to include a rationale for the game screenshots I uploaded, but I first want to know if I should use a Non-free use rationale, or a Non-free use rationale video game screenshot. Can you help me? If the former, I need some further help upon response. GUtt01 (talk) 19:58, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

@GUtt01: For the screenshots of a video game, you should use the video game screenshot rationale. Just copy the full syntax and fill in the information. I'm working on fixing File:TopGearPolarSpecial.jpg for you, and haven't looked at the rest of the the Top Gear ones yet. I'll let you know if I can't fix them. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 20:07, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@AntiCompositeNumber: is it meant to switch the template to "Non-free use rationale"? GUtt01 (talk) 20:20, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@GUtt01: You did everything correctly on File:WeHappyFewUncleJack.jpg! The template worked as intended (Yes, that one is a bit weird). In future, you should replace the Information template (In the summary section) with the NFUR (I fixed that one for you). AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 20:28, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@AntiCompositeNumber: Is it okay for me to edit the information in the table (i.e. Purpose) to properly state the factors of the image? GUtt01 (talk) 20:30, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@GUtt01: Of course, a handwritten argument is always better than the boilerplate response! AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 20:35, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@AntiCompositeNumber: Final question. I was using the images as "thumbs" on the wiki article they are attached to. I noticed that the image's location on the site states it will need to be resized. What size must I edit it to?GUtt01 (talk) 20:39, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@GUtt01: You don't need to worry about that, a bot will take care of any image with the Non-free reduce template on it. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 20:42, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
@AntiCompositeNumber: Thanks for guiding me through this. Really helped me. Could you send me a message on my talk page, just to outline what to do, if I should put in something that is Non-free under the wrong type, if possible? Would appreciate it, for future reference. GUtt01 (talk) 20:47, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

File:Dr Walter Fricke.jpg

Hello, I got a message from you, regarding the uploading of the image above and incorrect fair use rational. As I don't speak copyright, I don't know whats wrong. I uploaded the file using the file wizard. Why did the wizard not ask me to fill these fields in, when requesting fair use? As regards WP:NFCC#1, the man is an dead academic, an astronomer and cryptanalyst, of historical importance. There is no other image available, anywhere. As regards WP:NFCC#2. How would that be satisfied? Scope creep (talk) 00:32, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

I've sent a letter to the Heidelberg University Press department to determine if what they say and whether they have a license for it. Scope creep (talk) 00:56, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

@Scope creep: As far as NFCC#1, that is exactly what you have to write. Just put that in the Replacability parameter in the template on the file page. For NFCC#2, you have to explain why the image won't interfere with anyone's commercial interests. You should explain that the photo is of a reduced size, and copies made from it would be inferior to the original. If the University comes back saying that it is licensed freely, or in the public domain, forward the email chain to permissions-en@wikimedia.org. You may also wish to consult WP:DCM. Let me know if you need further explanation/assistance!-- AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 01:11, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

ColFergStod

Hi There Thanks for your message, although it didn't inform me as to what buttons I should press where and when. I did make some changes, which appeared to be OK, but now I'm getting a message at the top of the Mods and Rockers page informing me that tags have been inserted but with no content between them. Subsequently I've been told off by Wikipedia, they think I'm a vandal and should refrain from editing! Looking on the edited page, beneath the two chapters I inserted a tag, then there is nthe book citation followed by another tag. Is this is what is wrong, how do I remove a tag? Also on the edited page it shows two chapters, but on the actual Mods and Rockers page it has all merged into one long paragraph. The second paragraph starts 'Three years later in 1964...'can this be separated? Sorry, I appear to be complicating things, Regards Colin — Preceding unsigned comment added by ColFergStod (talkcontribs) 17:27, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

@ColFergStod: Hello again! The vandalism reversion was from you inserting extraneous <ref></ref> tags. You only need one <ref> tag and one </ref> tag per citation. However, there is a different citation issue we have to talk about. In another comment, you self-identified as the author of the book you were citing. Per WP:SPS, this counts as citing a self-published source. Wikipedia does not allow anyone to cite things they have published themselves, as it makes Wikipedia less reliable. While your book is probably completely true, making an exception for one source means we have to make that exception for all sources, including some random person's blog. If you would like to continue making changes to Mods and Rockers, please request a change on the articles Talk page.
As far as paragraphs go, Wikipedia does not start paragraphs with indents. Instead, we use line breaks to break up paragraphs. Use <br /> to insert a line break. -- AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 01:12, 29 August 2016 (UTC)

Mallie.sanford

Hi, I got a notification about a conflict of interest and about three photos regarding a Disputed non-free use rationale and a Replaceable fair use File. I am going through the page and editing it as best as I can in accordance with the conflict of interest guidelines. If you are going to delete it, I would highly appreciate a notice before doing so, because I am happy to make changes diligently so that this won't happen. I'm still going through and correcting anything I can find, reading up on wikipedia's codes and trying to make the page stronger altogether. In reference to the photos I have the copyright information sent to me via email and was going to send to Wikimedia's copyright service, and then upload them as new files with correct copyright info. Otherwise, I just want to make sure that my sources are good and whatnot so that I don't have more problems. I'm working here and there on making them more reliable (finding ISBN numbers where I can, reformatting the citations, etc) but if there is anything specific that I need to do to keep the page from being deleted it would be great to know about, or if you could redirect me to a source that can help me with that that would be great. Thanks! --Mallie.sanford (talk) 18:03, 31 August 2016 (UTC)

Hello! I'm terribly sorry that I couldn't get to this a week ago, but I've been incredibly busy off-wiki and haven't had the chance to reply. I'll try to address your concerns in the order you asked about them.
  1. As far as the possible conflict of interest goes, I don't know whether you truly have a COI or not. It sounds like you have already read WP:COI, but I will remind you that if you do have a COI, you need to WP:DISCLOSE it. If you need help figuring this out, you can let me know. We welcome constructive contributions from everyone!
  2. For the photos of the artwork, we need to talk a bit about the copyright. In the US, there is copyright protection for artworks and sculptures, even if they are displayed publicly. This extends to reproductions of the copyrighted work, including the photos that you uploaded (c:Commons:FOP). Without proper permissions from the artist that created the artwork, we can't keep the images. You can read more information about properly licensing files at WP:DCM.
  3. The portrait photograph of Kovachevich that you uploaded to Commons was deleted as well. Both Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons require that files have appropriate licensing information included on the file page. If you sent verification to the OTRS (permissions) team, the file will be reinstated once they process your request. Please do not reupload the file, as that just creates more work for everyone involved.
  4. The article Thomas Kovachevich doesn't appear to be at risk of deletion. Because of how Wikipedia's database operates, nothing is ever fully deleted, it is just hidden from view. In most cases, well-written articles would not be "speedily deleted." WP:Speedy deletion is for articles that are so far below Wikipedia standards that they could not be saved. Thomas Kovachevich is above those standards, so only a deletion discussion would be able to delete it. In a deletion discussion, discussion is opened for 7 days so that any editor can make their case for the fate of the article. You should be notified in the case of such a discussion.
  5. I'm glad that you are cleaning up the article! It does need a bit of work in a few places, and could always use more relevant information. You may wish to go over the WP:Manual of Style (MOS:SIMPLIFIED), and clean up the article accordingly.
I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia, and don't let this small obstacle stand in your way. If you ever need help, you can always message me here. I'll try to get back to you as soon as I can, but I might be busy. If you need help right away, you can use the methods described at WP:?, including the live help channel. Happy editing! -- AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 00:10, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi I'm chefNathan, id love some guidance, if u have time. I'm teaching myself wikimarkup, and I've got the basics down, but that's about it. I re-wrote about 40-50% of the article María sabina and I'm understanding the importance of citations but I'm still a little way off writing my own article. I'm a happy critic receiver...happy for constructive criticisms and help in any way! I'm from Australia. Thanks! ChefNathan (talk) 11:38, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Hi again, what I'm really struggling with is the talk aspect of wiki. Where do I start a conversation on teahouse? It throws me into visual editor and I have no clue about VE, I only use wikiMarkup. Do I add a new question underneath the last question using the == as heading? Cheers ChefNathan (talk) 04:13, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Hello again! The Teahouse was started as an experiment, so things run a bit differently there. Instead of the usual norm of starting new talk page discussions at the bottom of the page, they decided to start new discussions at the top. If you find yourself unexpectedly thrown into VisualEditor, you can always click the [[ ]] button at the top-right of the screen to switch back to the source editor. Happy editing! -- AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 12:16, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, friend. It can get a bit confusing at times! But this I guess is why we have good information editors like yourself. By the way, my first article was rejected draft:Rafael Cardona Salazar but I am gaining the tools to be a published page creator! Thank you! I will get there! ChefNathan (talk) 12:56, 10 October 2016 (UTC) I'm going to kill the article. For every reference I provide, stating facts that are put into public record, there are news articles asking questions, like Washington post, that throw a tiny bit of mud onto my subject matter, making it impossible to 100% verify. Yet there are articles that don't have the same refs as mine being sanctioned as truth. So what is the point? I do good research, yet one dodgy news item, with no facts but questions, shoots it all down...fuck it. I'll stick to editing. ChefNathan (talk) 16:17, 10 October 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review needs your help

Hi AntiCompositeNumber,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

Hello Gracememe, and welcome to Wikipedia! How can I help you? -- AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 23:30, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on User talk:Langh Khan Kam requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hello, Arborgate, and welcome to Wikipedia! When you want to discuss something with another editor, you use a talk page. This page is my talk page, and your talk page is at User talk:Aborgate. You can also access the talk page for almost any other page on Wikipedia by clicking the "Talk" tab at the top of the page. You can then hit "New section" to start a new discussion, or use the "Edit" button on a section to join the discussion. I recommend that you play the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tutorial that will give you the basics of editing and interacting on Wikipedia. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, or ask at The Teahouse. Oh, and by the way: I saw that you sent me an email, but I never received it. I looked it up, and this is a long-standing bug that should be getting fixed soon. -- AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 12:57, 20 November 2016 (UTC)

False-positive sensor for all LA Metro Templates is broken

Hello. I'm currently not able to make any constructive edits to any LA Metro Templates because the false-positive sensor is prohibiting me. The sensor also prohibits me to restore back to the latest edit before the page was blanked. The sensor allows me to do nothing, but blank the page. Can someone please fix this corrupt false-positive sensor? 71.198.231.208 (talk) 03:28, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

Hello. I can't see exactly what you are trying to do, so I can't help you fix it. Please explain exactly what you are attempting to add/remove from that page. -- AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 03:30, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

I'm trying to make a constructive edit to the Metro Gold Line Template by removing a parking symbol that exists with one of its junctions with the 210 Freeway, since that junction is not a station. The false-positive sensor will not allow me to do this edit. Parking symbols should only exist at stations with park-and-ride lots. 71.198.231.208 (talk) 03:37, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

I'm also experiencing this problem with Template:Metro Silver Line. I'm trying to add Freeway junctions that the Metro Silver Line goes over/under onto the template since they exist on all the other LA Metro templates. The only thing the false-positive sensor will let me do when it comes to editing these templates is to unconstructively blank the whole page. After blanking the whole page, the sensor will prohibit me from constructively restoring all the content that was blanked. 71.198.231.208 (talk) 03:39, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

Alright, it appears to be a technical issue based on the complex template syntax used for the rail line templates. The details of the edit filter in question are not available to non-admins, so I can't debug it further myself. If you have some other edits you would like taken care of, let me know using a specific "Change X to Y format." -- AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 03:46, 26 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello AntiCompositeNumber,
Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 805 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote

With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.

Adding Info Template on certain img files

Hi AntiCompositeNumber. Can I add File Information Templates

  • <2 braces>Information |Description= |Source= |Date= |Author=<2braces>

—to certain already existing img files (whether on commons or on wikipedia) that have no Information Templates? I mean, those img files that only use sentences instead of this template. Can I also add the template <2braces>own<2braces> to the img file/s whose author/s I had validated / confirmed? Thanks for the answer! JWilz12345 (talk) 07:22, 27 November 2016 (UTC)

@JWilz12345: Adding {{Information}} to file pages is fine. I would make sure that when you do, no information is lost (Consider keeping the text description on the page). The Information template is helpful because it is more machine-readable, and makes things easier when free images are moved to Commons. All {{own}} does is say that the person who uploaded this file is the copyright holder, and add it to the relevant category. If you wan't to add it to obvious cases, I see no issue with that. UT tower shooting help

I’ve been working on the UT Tower Shooting Article and I was wondering if you would mind looking at what I had so far and letting me know if it looks good. I’d really appreciate it. it’s a work in progress so you might find some typos or some sections that aren’t 100% done yet, LOL.

Also, I am having problems with the References section. I don’t know how to get the section title that says References on it? I tried putting it in but all I get is these weird lines.

Do you know what I’m doing wrong?

Ryan Braun

Hi, I got your message. Sorry for not adequately explaining the edits. The reason for my removal of the content is that, in the aggregate, the civil lawsuit section is not very informative to the general reader who is researching Braun. Likewise, pursuant to Wikipedia's policy involving a presumption in favor of privacy, the otherwise low-profile nature of the other party involved - Ralph Sasson - outweighs the negligible significance the lawsuit has on the content of the page overall. If you are in disagreement with my assessment, feel free to explain why. But, given the limited insight it provides into Braun himself, compared to the negative impact it has - and continues to have - on Mr. Sasson (including the ability to obtain gainful employment or even voluntary positions), its deletion from the page would not do anything to undermine a normal reader's insight into Braun, his origins, his amateur and professional career, his discipline for having taken PED's, and/or his personal life. On a balance, the insight it provides a normal reader is vastly outweighed by the damage it has on the particular individual who, as I'm sure you're aware, does not have a Wikipedia page of his own. I hope that this explanation is sufficient. :)

IEEE Technical Committee on Cyber-Physical System

The IEEE Technical Committee on Cyber-Physical System stimulates interdisciplinary research and education to cyber-physical systems (CPS). The technical committee consists of people who have a recognized proficiency in the specific field of CPS, which addresses the close interactions and communication between some cyber components and some physical components. The cyber components include embedded computing systems, while the physical components include varying environment and mechanical systems. Since the design and implementation of both cyber and physical components need the consideration of multiple aspects, such as computational constraints, performance, energy issues, fault tolerance, and even user experience and security, it is highly desirable to develop innovative techniques to address these challenges. The committee sponsors workshops, organizes sessions at conferences, and encourages submission of articles to their publications. In addition, the committee is to bridge CPS research to a variety of emerging domains, such as big data analytics, smart energy systems, smart health, smart cities, etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shiyanhu (talkcontribs) 20:03, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

A message from Fadant

Hello, I noticed that you requested a speedy deletion of a page I am working on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwayne_Harty. As I am really new to wikipedia, could you take the time to explain where I need to improve to address the concern you had? Fadant (talk) 22:40, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

@Fadant: One of the things I do on Wikipedia is use an automated copy-detection program to stop people from copying content from other websites to Wikipedia. That page came up in the list, and I verified that content was likely to have been copied from somewhere, so I tagged the page for deletion. After conversing with another user in IRC, we determined that the content was a list, and therefore not copyrightable, so he removed the deletion tag. There is nothing you need to do to address this concern, and the page is not up for deletion. If you would like, you may remove the warning message from your talk page. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them. Sorry for the confusion, and happy editing! --AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 23:52, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

the main problem of the federal fnding of planned parentshood is that they offer abortion services using taxpayer money which is a very controversial issue in the USA. that is the reason planned parenthod was highlighted 109.66.151.52 (talk) 21:07, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

I reverted because the wording implied that Planned Parenthood was a for-profit company that only provided abortions, which is inconsistent with the description in the article itself, and is inconsistent with reality. --AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 00:40, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

thanks. i thought about moving the Owhrode article to draft but was not sure. sorry for replying on your talk page i am not too sure how things work yet so i failed to adhere to your instructions though i am using an outdated browser, it seems Wikipedia developers figured that i may want to reply to another user's talkpage and thus developed an avenue for that. sorry, thank you Sam simi (talk) 17:20, 22 January 2017 (UTC) EDITED Sam simi (talk) 17:27, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback

I appreciate your comments yesterday pertaining to my contribution to Bhargav Sri Prakash and have gone ahead an created an account per your suggestion. I notice that a few edits pertaining to the area of neuropsychology have been made by some one else, after our conversation. They are scientifically inaccurate and do not reflect the evidence of health outcomes in the citations/scientific literature. The editor may not understand that the academic peer review process, which leads to a publication/presentation at reputable conferences, ensures that the scientific community can rely on the material or the substance of the publication. I look to you for your advice about what I should do, if any thing. Thanks NeuroQuant (talk) 17:01, 23 January 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter No.2

Hello AntiCompositeNumber,
A HUGE backlog

We now have 805 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.

Hitting 17,000 soon

The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.

Second set of eyes

Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.

Abuse

This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and

  1. this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
  2. this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
  3. This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.

Coordinator election

Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.
