This page and information was requested of the late Gill. By no means should this page be requested for deletion. The wording and information gathered to create this accurate biography consisted of two years of interview and questioning in his last days. Despite the fact the tone of the information presented did not meet reviewers likeness, the information is 100% accurate. Will work further to meet this subjective, rather than objective disagreement. Anthony.CT.ASCP (talk) 08:21, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. This is just a note to let you know that I've moved the draft that you were working on to Draft:Gary Gill, from its old location at User:Anthony.CT.ASCP/sandbox. Hi,

I am NOT receiving anything in return for this. The late Gill did so much for our tiny field composed of a limited number of people and it's painstaking that I cannot being describe how he contributed to our field without it being construed for marketing to the general public. I nearly took out everything he did for us to adhere to policies. His accomplishments listed have basically lost all content that reflect his real achievements.

FYI. Gill's hematoxylin is not even hardly used anymore due to the majority of labs using stains provided by Hologic Inc. and BD Surepath Inc. taking over the field. However, without Gill, none of these organizations would be where they are today.

Information icon

Hello Anthony.CT.ASCP. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, such as the edit you made to Draft:Gary Gill (scientist), but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Anthony.CT.ASCP. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Anthony.CT.ASCP|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Sulfurboy (talk) 20:02, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article submission has been rejected. If you have further questions, you can ask at the Articles for creation help desk or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help. The reason left by WikiAviator was: This topic is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. The comment the reviewer left was: Mentioned problems not solved after a few resubmissions. Notability not proven. Article still full of peacock terms and is highly un-neutral with suspicion of paid editing raised by other reviewers.

From one lab rat to another...

[edit]

I was poking around some talk pages and came across a discussion relating to Draft:Gary Gill (scientist). As a practicing MLS I immediately recognized Gill's hematoxylin and understood why you'd want to write a draft on Gary Gill. Unfortunately the standards for biographical notability on Wikipedia are high (the relevant criterion would be WP:NACADEMIC) and since cytopathology is a small and insular field I am not sure if there is enough coverage in secondary sources for this article to pass the bar.

While I understand if you're too annoyed to continue, since the feedback you've gotten so far has not been all that helpful, I hope you will stick around and consider improving some articles related to medical laboratory science and cytopathology, which is a sadly neglected area on here. We didn't even have an article on white blood cell differential until I wrote one a couple months ago. It is easier to write about scientific concepts than biographies, and if you are interested in contributing to Wikipedia, improving some of the articles in Category:Histopathology, for example, might be a good place to start. The guide to reliable sources for medical articles and the Medicine WikiProject have some good resources for editing medical content. P.S. while I understand your frustration, calling people "full of shit" is not a good idea and breaches the WP:Civility policy. SpicyMilkBoy (talk) 01:33, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Gary W Gill.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gary W Gill.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 19:27, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
