Problems with upload of File:Assamese meal.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Assamese meal.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

To add this information, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the information to the image's description. If you need help, post your question on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

License tagging for File:Badulipar tea garden.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Badulipar tea garden.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:06, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nipon Goswami requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Proposed deletion of Sudesh Berry

[edit]

The article Sudesh Berry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unsourced biography of what appears to be a run of the mill supporting actor.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:38, 24 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are receiving this as you have recently added an interwiki link to a page!

Wikidata has been deployed to the English Wikipedia. Wikidata manages interwiki links on a separate project on pages such as this. This means that on Wikipedia articles there is now a language bar on the left hand side of your screen where you can edit and add links rather than adding them into the articles themselves.

If you have any questions regarding Wikidata please use the talk page Wikipedia talk:Wikidata.

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on List of awards and winners for films from Assam, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. (See section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) If a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Non-free image use

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to a page, specifically India national cricket team, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:38, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File:Cricket India Crest.svg is a non-free image which means that each use of it on Wikipedia must satisfy Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. The non-free use of this file was discussed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2016 February 18#File:Cricket India Crest.svg and the consensus was the file's non-free use only complies with the aforementioned policy in Board of Control for Cricket in India. If you would like clarification of this, please ask the closing administrator Explicit about it on his user talk page. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:43, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

Hey mate, I saw you created a page for the Assam State Electricity Board and that is fine but in the future keep in mind WP:NFOOTY. Only clubs that have competed in the I-League, Federation Cup, Durand Cup, or I-League 2nd Division are notable as those are official national leagues and tournaments of India. Things like the IFA Cup or Bordoloi Trophy do not give a team notability. Thankfully Assam Electricity Board did play in the 2nd division a decade ago so your page is notable. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 16:02, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article Gaane Ki Aane has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No significat coverage in independent reliable sources to support WP:GNG and no indication of passing WP:NFILM.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Bhupen Hazarika Setu, without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. A reference should be provided backing a name change as well. GS 01:04, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on ICICI Prudential Life Insurance requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". A tag has been placed on Assam Power Distribution Company Limited requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://web.archive.org/web/20130518131059/http://apdcl.gov.in/aboutus.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Answer: Copyrighted content can be used without permission of the copyright holder under the "fair use" clause of US copyright law. Limited use of copyrighted contents, can be used without requiring permission from the copyrights holders for such things as scholarship and review. *How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future? Answer: In Future, I will follow all the guidelines and rules of Wikipedia before creating a content. For example, If I am going to create an article on particular institute or any organization then first I will acquire all the authentic reliable sources from various sources then will prepare the contents in my own words so that it will not create any copyright violation again in future. Declining. While I'm generally satisfied with your answers to copyright, you haven't sufficiently addressed your lack of communication. Additionally, this edit is pretty blatantly inappropriate and it's hard to see how any explanation at all would suffice for that. Yamla (talk) 17:59, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am somewhat reluctant, because copyvio+no communication is such a poisonous combination. At a minimum, I want not a reminder but a formal requirement that will result in immediate reblocking if they're not responsive in the future. There is also a CIR aspect to this block which hasn't been addressed yet (see the diff I linked to in the block commentary). MER-C 17:47, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You recently had THREE unblock requests open at the same time, which is simply bizarre, so I suggest you not open unblock requests for the time being, as you may quickly raise questions about your competency. Typically if someone abuses the unblock request system, they wind up with their talk page access being removed, so I hope you'll listen to me. Note that MER-C still had some questions that you haven't responded to yet. I'm also unclear on what you meant when you said "I kept myself away from the world of Wikipedia for more than 1 month to justify my punishment." What does that mean, exactly? Please respond below. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Anshuman.jrt, you need to re-read Yamla's last declined block and respond accordingly. Don't change your current unblock request, just respond below. And sign your post next time, please. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:12, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I couldn't able to communicate in some of my earlier talks due to lack of use of Wikipedia by me. Earlier I was not so vocal and also didn't knew much about Wikipedia rules. But now I am an active user of this platform and gained lots of etiquettes of Wikipedia. 07:14 ,2 August 2020 (UTC)

You state "now I am an active user of this platform". After your block on 2020-04-11, what pages have you edited? Did you edit these pages with another account? --Yamla (talk) 10:52, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wait, after reading this over three times I think I understand what you mean--but it is wholly insufficient. You couldn't communicate because you were not a frequent user? But that is obviously not true. First of all, you have over 15,000 mainspace edits; that's admirable, but proves you are a frequent user. Second, I looked at a warning on 6 November 2017, about unwarranted page moves--and three hours and fourteen minutes later you make an edit on your talk page, and then are back to editing in the mainspace. And if you didn't know about the rules, and were warned about breaking them, why didn't you take that as a learning moment? No, I cannot accept this. (Yamla, I found no evidence of socking.) File permission problem with File:Kohima-Komets.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kohima-Komets.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 08:12, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
