Accepting articles
[edit]Hi Andros 1337,
I have been working on the article Hubbell Water Heaters and has been denied multiple times despite having several third party references. Looking at the Bradford White page which is in the exact same industry, they only have one reference (a personal press release), yet you reverted the tag that was recently added stating they are not notable because they do not have enough references.
This confuses me because Wikipedia: Notability clearly states- "No subject is automatically or inherently notable merely because it exists: The evidence must show the topic has gained significant independent coverage or recognition, and that this was not a mere short-term interest, nor a result of promotional activity or indiscriminate publicity, nor is the topic unsuitable for any other reason. Sources of evidence include recognized peer-reviewed publications, credible and authoritative books, reputable media sources, and other reliable sources generally."
Can you explain this please? Because there seems to be some contradiction. Thanks Carrierc (talk) 20:03, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
- Well, Bradford White has a much larger market share than Hubbell (third in the industry behind A.O. Smith and Rheem), so I think because the company has a significant market share seems to indicate that the company is notable in the industry. ANDROS1337TALK 20:12, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for your response, but that still doesn't answer my question. Where does it say on Wikipedia that a market share is a notable source? Given that Bradford White is a private company (according to their page), how would their market share be a contributing factor to their notability? And where do you find that information? PR lists
[edit]If you haven't been following, a few lists of PR characters have been put up for deletion. AlienX2009 seems to not be wanting to do this, but would you mind starting to merge the list pages for the post-Zordon seasons? As you can see Lost Galaxy has already been done, but there's still Lightspeed Rescue through Samurai that need merging. If you do go through with this, please remember to say the pages you are merging in the history of the new page so people's contributions can be properly tracked.—Ryulong (琉竜) 15:28, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Colored text
[edit]You know that colored text can cause confusion with default red/blue links. Why don't you try a table for Valley Metro Bus (Phoenix) that would be sortable by number, type and operator. This also gives much more functionality and clarity. Remember that some people have vision problems so adding the operator name, in some standard format, as well as providing accessability would also be sortable. This is not yet completed and I have left a few things for you to add and cleanup.

Hey Andros 1337
I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).
So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.
What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.
The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

RE: ABQ Ride fleet
[edit]Hello. It doesn't seem like they have specific buses that are used for either the 40 or 250. So far, the D-ride has been covered by 2 300-series buses (usually a later number like 337, 338, etc.), the same as when there was less than 2 usable 400-series buses. The Airport Express seems to be mostly covered by a 300-series bus, though they have recently used a 900-series for part of the day.
I don't have any specific knowledge of ABQ Ride's plans, but I seriously doubt that they will be spending money on wraps for buses that may be needed elsewhere in the fleet. I also think that if they planned on using special wraps, they would have had those buses painted with the route-specific branding so that they didn't have to pay for both the paint job and wrapping.
If you're interested in knowing what buses are assigned to a route at any time, the ABQ Ride app shows bus numbers on the live tracking. So far, I've seen as many as 10 600-series buses out at a time, and the pace of using the 600-series over the 300-series seems to be accelerating. So far, I haven't noticed a pattern to what 300-series are on the road, but I will edit the Wikipedia page if I happen to find out what numbers of the 300-series will be retired.
I'm really hoping that ABQ Ride expands the fleet and service soon because some routes are becoming extremely over-crowded to the point of consecutive runs not picking up passengers. I also expected this new order to be called the 500-series because the 300s and 400s were taken and that would have been the closest numbering to the year they entered the fleet. If you happen to hear anything about future orders or the logic behind the numbering of the new buses, I would love to hear about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.119.168.246 (talk) 17:44, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Red
[edit]Red
[edit]I see that you deleted fire and beauty as common associations with the color red due to not being in a specific survey. However, these are still very common associations (especially fire) as stated in the citations I provided. Therefore, I personally believe they are worthy of mention and should not be excluded from the article. One survey isn't enough to determine the common associations of the color. ANDROS1337TALK 01:26, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
Dear Andros,
Thanks for your constructive comments. There's a history to the list of associations in the major color articles. A few years ago, people were adding any associations they wanted to the color articles, and there was a list of several dozen associations for red, some of which were logical, some rather far-fetched, most quite personal and subjective. At that point I and other editors standardized the format for color articles, with a short list of the strongest associations of each color, according to the surveys published by Eva Heller. More detail follows in the article. Also, we chose only those associations which the surveys published by Eva Heller showed were the strongest. For example, "heat" is also associated by many people with yellow and orange, but red is the strongest, with 47 percent. If we put every association of a color into the lead, it would be much too long and would probably be of little value.
You proposed adding "fire" and "beauty". I think fire falls under "heat", so I think it is covered in the lead, but we could say "heat and fire" as one item. If you have some specific examples of red being associated with fire, you should put them into the body of the article. "Beauty" is more difficult, because by definition it's entirely subjective. It's not mentioned at all in the survey, because everyone has a different idea of what beauty is, and I don't think there's any agreement that red is the most beautiful color. Do you have some data that shows that red is considered by the public more beautiful than any other color? If not, I don't think it would belong in the lead. If you have some examples of red associated with beauty, they can go into the body of the article.
I welcome your further thoughts and ideas on how to improve the article.

The Powerpuff Girl's colors
[edit]I would just go with pink green and blue per WP:NPOV unless you have a reliable source saying otherwise, the last thing I want is a heated argument between two editors in the future on what exact color is right and what one isn't that involves the characters. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 04:15, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
- Perhaps for Bubbles and Buttercup we can use light blue and light green, which they obviously are. Light blue and light green are more general terms rather than specific shades. ANDROS1337TALK 04:26, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
- Okay I see no harm in that then =). - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 02:52, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Bombardier Innovia APM 200
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Bombardier Innovia APM 200, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Gillig Buses (City of Phoenix)
[edit]Hi there! Apologies it took me so long to get back to you on this. Unfortunately I've not been able to figure out what transmission is used in the Gilligs just yet. I've been on 5121 a few times so far, and can say that the shift selector appeared to be identical to the one used on the 2014 C40LFRs, however I don't yet have a confirmation if they are in fact using the B400R. Phoenix Fleet
[edit]Hi again! I've been trying to see if I can find out more about the cutaway fleet, as normally I'm focused on the heavy duty vehicles like the New Flyers.
What I've found is that Phoenix Transit has auctioned a large number of cutaways, which are the StarTrans cutaways of E450 vehicles, all previously registered on "G" plates, with number ranges I would expect for the Public Transit department. So far all of these StarTrans vehicles appear to have been numbered from about 1480-1505. 1480 is the lowest fleet number I've seen auctioned and 1505 is the highest. It's entirely possible that vehicles lower in the range (to about 1460) have also been auctioned, and I just haven't seen them. The most recent auction on these was in late February of this year.
I've also found a number of StarTrans vehicles with fleet numbers in the 34xx and 35xx range, but the interior of those indicate they could have been Dial-a-ride vehicles, as they have at least 3 wheelchair positions with very limited seating. I thought I would at least pass this along, as it could help reduce confusion between the DAR fleet and the circulator fleet.
Additionally, a video from the city which was made to highlight the opening of the transit centre at Desert Sky shows a regional connector on Route 685 pulling in, which has the fleet number 1548. Currently the fleet number for these are just listed as "Unknown" - but I don't know how many of these there are, so I didn't add this into the page yet. [edit]Proposed deletion of List of Boeing 787 orders and deliveries
[edit]The article List of Boeing 787 orders and deliveries has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Why is this here? WIKIPEDIAISNOT
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. L3X1 My Complaint Desk 22:47, 31 January 2017 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Smiths Detection
[edit]Hello Andros 1337,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Smiths Detection for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Hello, Andros 1337. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Smiths Detection, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Mesa/Tempe/RPTA Fleet Update
[edit]Thanks for the update. I've been trying to keep across the fleet news as best I can, but it's been pretty difficult with the joint procurement situation as well as how many orders are currently in progress between New Flyer, Gillig, ElDorado and ARBOC. I've been trying to keep up with the CPTDB thread and cross check what people are saying there with what I'm hearing and reading in the City of Phoenix T&ISC and RPTA meeting packets, but it has still been a challenge.
I'm thinking you may be correct about the new Gilligs being sent to Tempe. From what I've heard / been told (and also seen on the road) Tempe have been having some reliability issues with some of their older New Flyer vehicles.
I've also been told that Tempe has fewer vehicles, and have no choice but to run them longer / harder than Mesa, which might contribute. It also means that each vehicle which goes down has a bigger impact on their ability to keep service running smoothly, which First have already had enough of an issue with in the past two years or so.
In regards to Phoenix, It looks that the non-RAPID Xcelsiors are split between the North and South divisions. Most of the North division vehicles seem to stay on Route 50. I'm seeing 8101 as active this morning on Route 70, so it appears these have now all been delivered.
Additionally, in going through the GTFS data this morning, I'm seeing vehicles numbered 7169 and 7170 active on the I-17 and I-10E RAPID routes. I mention this because the fleet page doesn't currently list anything above the order for 7157-7165 in the XN60s. This is confusing as the I-17 is a North division route, while the I-10E is South division. I can only assume these are also XN60s? InfiniteFifty (talk) 16:05, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
Valley Metro Route 140-Ray
[edit]Hi again!
I'm pretty much in agreement with you on Route 140 being First-RPTA and coming from Mesa or Tempe. I figured when making the edit I would reserve judgement until someone confirms officially that either Phoenix or the RPTA are going to operate it.
Seeing as we're less than 20 days from that route coming into service, I imagine someone will do that soon. Alternatively, I could always just send an email and see what I can find out.

Valley Metro: Tempe/Mesa DE60LFR
[edit]Just a little heads up, I'm beginning to notice that the DE60LFR buses, previously based in Tempe and seen quite often on Route 72, are starting to show up on Route 72 again, since the October service changes.
I'm not sure if these vehicles were transferred again, but I thought it was interesting, and possibly something to know with the recent New Flyer order.
