Vandal Proof stats

I'm not sure whether I should be posting this here or at VP/Bugs. Anyway, my problem is that my VP stats are no longer updating properly. It only worked once and my Log and Stats are stuck on 5. Apparently I've only made 5 reverts. I've actually made 50 and it even says so in F:\Users\Toby\VandalProof\MyCount.txt and it has 50 entries in F:\Users\Toby\VandalProof\VandalismLog.txt

I've tried re-updating many times but it just won't edit my Stats page or Log page. Any suggestions? Tobes ^(talk) 10:02, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

I just looked at the FAQ and it said to turn off 'Enhanced Recent Changes'. Ehanced Recent Changes has always been off so it certainly isn't that. Tobes ^(talk) 13:17, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Oye, rather embarassing, but it appears that function may still be dependent upon popups. You might try adding {{subst:navpop}} to your monobook.js and see if that fixes it. AmiDaniel (talk) 02:58, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Furry fandom vandalism becoming worse

I contacted you previously about vandalism on the Furry fandom article. I'm sorry to say that the article is still being vandalised. What is more, other similar articles such as Therianthropy and Otherkin are being acted by the same person/people. I know you have put up a anti-vandalism bot to protect the site, but it is not working as effectivly as it could. Is there anything else you can do? ISD 15:00, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, it looks like about three to four cases of vandalism a day, which is about average for any article, and almost all of the vandalism is reverted within a couple of minutes. The article's on the IRC watchlists, my watchlist, and the watchlists of many others as well, so if I were you I wouldn't worry about. Drastic measures such as protection are avoided unless the situation gets completely out of control. Unfortunately, open-content sources like Wikipedia will always be common targets for vandalism, but if you look at articles such as, well, Wikipedia, you'll find that many articles suffer far worse vandalism. In the long run, however, it's really not that big a deal, frustrating as it may be, to clean up and deal with. You'll get used to it =D. AmiDaniel (talk) 02:54, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

It would appear you added nowiki tags before and after your username, which caused it to not be recognized correctly and was thus removed accidentally. As the lists aren't moderated by hand, formatting is rather important and incorrect formatting can lead to mishaps like this. Sorry about the confusion. None has been released to anyone that I'm aware of. I put up a little source code on a couple of the routines, never the full app or any independently functional part of the app though, so I'm not sure what you heard or who you heard it from, but no, I've not released a beta. In fact, it may still be a while before I'm able to release anything. I've been unexpectedly busy all week, and I'm going out of town tomorrow, so I'm likely not going to meet my July 9th release date. I'm hopefully going to have it ready by early-mid next week, but Sunday will be quite unlikely. I estimate that I still need to put in about a good solid 10 hours or so of work, tweaking and patching up holes, and while I'll work as much as I can tonight and on Saturday night, it likely will not be enough. Vandal Proof

VandalProof seems to be malfunctioning for me. It lets me log in, update, and view eidts. Only when it lets me view them it shows me the page rather than the diff and it always displays the message "Admin has recieved no vandalism warnings." Help? savidan^{(talk) (e@)} 03:26, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

As I've explained before, this has absolutely nothing to do with who is right and who is wrong. This has to do with your inexcusable move-warring and otherwise disruptive behavior. If you or any of your other sockpuppets/IPs forks this article again, you will be blocked. Naming

The naming convention for this page should be Anaheim Hills, California. Anaheim Hills, California is the most commonly referenced name for the area. I was reading through the naming conventions, and have found no justifications for the statements about the community, city, state convention that had to be used. The only rule that I found was that the name had to be precise, and the most common form of the name. Following the "black and white" rules of WIkipedia, the most commonly used name, and the most precise name is Anaheim Hills, California. Using Anaheim Hills, Anaheim, California is not the most common or the most precise name for the article, breaking the main naming rules of Wikipedia. As I said, the statements above about the community, city, state convention has no evidence to back it up, and is the assumed desire of particular users, and in no way the typical naming convention. Some users do not want to accept the fact that they were wrong, and have taken their actions regarding the naming convention too far. I think it is time that we put this silly issue behind us, and just move it to Anaheim Hills, California where it belongs. That is what the Wikipedia rules state, and that is where the page needs to rest. The Wikipedia rules, like keeping the name precise and at a commonly used level has worked very well...if the rules havent been manipulated by the users and admins who insist that it MUST remain at Anaheim Hills, Anaheim, California. Just move it to Anaheim Hills, California, follow the Wikipedia Guidelines, admit all your wrong doings (for every user on this page has a wrong doing in one form or another) and lets just try to handle this in a civil way. --69.232.62.33 08:30, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

How can you honestly say that you are not taking sides on the issue. You have gone out of your way to protect the Anaheim Hills, California page, and have protected this version from moving. Just admit that you are on the opposing side of the arguement. And why are you not stating your side, because you do seem to clearly have one? Removing links to deleted articles

Please only remove links to deleted articles if the topic is non-notable and should never have an article on it. If the article was deleted for being nonsense, badly written etc, the links are very useful for people who would like to write a good article on the topic. Warofdreams talk 09:38, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, I suppose it's sort of a matter of personal discretion as to what topics are actually notable. The majority of nonsense articles are speedily deleted whilst the majority of prods are for concerns of notability and/or advertising, in which case the incoming links should be removed. However, I do sort of have red-link-phobia and often get carried away removing links, so thanks for keeping an eye on me =D. If you feel I mistakenly remoed any links, please feel free to revert me. I blocked the ranges 64.12.117.0/24 and 207.200.116.0/24 for 15 minutes each and will reblock for longer if they start up again. Thanks to bug 550, we now don't really have to worry to much about AOL collateral damage. I may protect the page as well; let me look at it really quick. VandalProof

Hello. I was just approved for use of the tool, but currently the program doesn't accept my user name. It doesn't accept the last character . I rewrote MyCount.txt and saved as UTF-8 document but it doesn't work and I fail to log-in. What do you mean by not working? A few things: Make sure you're not using Enhanced Recent Changes, which can be set under "my preferences" within Wikipedia. You may also try clearing out your Internet Explorer temporary internet files and cookies, especially if you are getting any kind of Script warnings, as corrupt tif files cause a lot of pesky little problems. I don't think copying that template is a very good idea. Maybe you think it looks nice in the monobook skin, but it hides inportant elements of the interface in other skins (examples: [5], [6], [7]) /82.212.68.183 15:59, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

I looked at your monobook.js, and it looks just fine to me. It should add after your "my contributions" link a "(on busy away sleep)" link. You may need to copy parts of my monobook.css to get it work for you, and it may also have some problems with Internet Explorer. Canadian provincial (non-geo) types

There has been a proposal on SFD since June 9, 2006 for the deletion of stubs for three Canadian provinces and the three territories. It has now lingered without being closed, one way or another, for over a month now. Since their nomination, I've put a lot of effort into populating these stub categories, and decided to finish things off by nominating the creation of stubs for the three remaining provinces. However, I don't want to do any further work on any of this if the proposal at SFD succeeds. I just want to know if I'm wasting my time or not. Could you review the discussion and close it? Suggestion

hi AmiDaniel, I was reading a bit of the proposal to disallow anonymous IP edits, and I had an idea I wonder why I don't hear much about: using visual / audio confirmation on edits from anon's; that is, making a person read a word from a graphic and type that word in, to complete the editing process (only if they're not logged in, of course). Wouldn't that accomplish some of counter-vandalism aims? (And if you made sure the words were all 15 letters long, you'd have a strong inducement for ppl to register... lol). Anyways, just hadn't seen it suggested, but maybe I didnt' read long enough.

I'm not sure entirely why the edit was reverted, as I would not have reverted it myself; however, the person to talk to about it would be User:Moeron. Apparently, you considered the link to AIDSvideos.org to be a "commercial link." I don't understand why you are describing the link in that way. AIDSvideos.org is not a commercial web site. It is not associated with any profit-making entity. It sells nothing and does no advertising. It is a not-for-profit web site. It has no revenues whatsoever. Here is our mission statement: http://www.aidsvideos.org/mission.html

It is similar in that way to all of these existing links on that page, none of which you have removed as commercial: AIDS Educator, Elton John AIDS Foundation, Elton John AIDS Foundation, Elton John AIDS Foundation, San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

(Note that some of the links on that are in fact to online magazines that in fact have advertising and appear to be for profit, so if anything they are MORE commercial than AIDSvideos.org.)

Please explain why you believe the link to AIDSvideos.org to be a "commercial link." If after reading this you no longer believe that to be the case, I would appreciate it if you would either document any other objections you may have to the link or restore the link.

Sanhedrin webpage (Criticism) section. We are discussing this point. However, the goal of an Encyclopedia must be to provide sourced facts, not personal opinion. There is no problem with criticizing, I have added my own criticisms of this subject. I would have no problem if Daniel575 could indeed provide sources for his strong comments and present them objectively, then it would be more fitting the goals of wikipedia. First of all, please refrain from making personal attacks and acting incivilly. There is no need to get so worked up, and generally individuals who use such a tone in their posts will usually be entirely ignored by me. However, I did review the deleted history of the article, and whilst the version I deleted read "Andrew is a 15 year old teenager who likes cadets, and dominatrix. Andrew is also a level 72 Elf warrior on world of warcraft," its revisions three days earlier were of a respectable disambiguation page. Thus, the article had been vandalized and no one noticed for three days, which is when I discovered and deleted it. I have now restored it and reverted to the last revision by User:No1lakersfan. Understand that mistakes do happen when dealing with the sheer volume of situations that I and my fellow administrators deal with on a daily basis, and your inability to act in a civil and decent manner is not making things any easier. Sanhedrin page

Here is the guideline I was following for reversing Daniel575's edits.

3RR Rules: Reverting potentially libellous material. All users are encouraged to remove unsourced or poorly sourced derogatory information about living persons, whether within a biography of a living person or elsewhere, including the associated talk pages. As with vandalism, the repeated addition of such material is best dealt with by blocking and page protection. The three-revert rule does not apply to users making a good-faith effort to enforce this provision, whether they are involved in editing the articles themselves or not.

How do we trace the perpetrators of Offensive material?

I am the Network Administrator at Oxley College. The Headmaster has been legitimately very upset at material that was personally offensive to him being posted in Wikipedia.

I quote below what appeared.

Unusual(?) request under Category:User undeletion

There is a proposed policy on Wikipedia, Intentionally permanent red link. I believe that this policy is the work of a single user, and that it is causing difficulties while solving none. To support my belief I would like to know if that user created the last three copies of The weather in London, as shown in its deletion history. There is something somewhat curious about the log in comparison to the deleted history that I don't completely understand. The page was deleted only three times on the 20th, though the edit history would seem to suggest it was created more times. What I believe happened was that NeonMerlin made minor changes to the comments he added to the end of the redirect, i.e., "<!-- ADMINS: Please do not delete this page. It is no longer being used as an example of a red link, and the community supports its existence. See [[Wikipedia talk:Choosing intentional red links]]. If vandalism on this page continues past ~~~~~, please consider protecting this page. --> ", and the software then recognize the effect of his edit to be a redirect causing it to fill in the automatic "Redirecting to ..." edit summary. Deleting edit histories

Regarding Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Serious_threats_against_me, please don't casually delete edit histories, even upon request. It should not be done lightly (if at all). Also, if it was a serious threat, I'm not sure you realize it but by doing that delete you permanently erased the data needed to do a checkuser. The edit is no longer usable for law enforcement purposes to track down a real threat. The edit was at best, as Kelly put it, mild libel. Please excercise your judgement in this regard better, it sets poor precedent and limits our options when it comes down to tracking real criminals. Regards, CHAIRBOY (☎) 05:02, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

I've responded on ANI, but I'll respond here as well. I apologize if you felt it wrong of me to delete the history, and I was not aware that deleting the items would permanently remove the related CheckUser data; however, the content in question did not seem to be a serious threat, but rather a commonplace attack that Pm shelf would quite understandably not want available in the page's history. In retrospect, the deletion was likely rather hasty and poorly thought-out, so I do apologize, though I do not believe it will be particularly significant either way. Feel free to restore the content, though the CheckUser data related to it may be lost. In any case, the user has a large number of confirmed sockpuppets, and so the CheckUser data will be accessible through other means, should the foundation feel it necessary to contact law enforcement agencies about this. Hrm, yes. Perhaps I should get myself a non-admin account for testing out new tools =D. The main page goof was one when I was using a tool by Michael Billington that had some very strange bugs. This latest one today was where I was working on some quick welcoming dealios. It was having some odd problems, that I thought were simply IE memory problems, whereby the template was being written to the wrong tab index. I wasn't thinking much about the problem, and then when I later hit edit on MediaWiki:Watchdetails to see why the spacing was so screwy, well, it recognized it as an edit page, and it happened to be a tab where the welcome template was erroneously being written, so it then proceeded to post the welcome template smack dab at the top of everybody's watchlist =D. So far I've only made two major screwups like that though, and hopefully this one today will be the last *crosses fingers*. Though you likely don't care, I know where the problem is:

Undeletion

An article on my website was deleted a while back. I had nothing to do with it, nor was it put in with my blessing. However, out of curiosity, I would like to know what it looked like ere it was tossed out. Is there some way to put a copy of it up somewhere where I can grab it to transfer out? I won't try to give the article any place in the wiki, unless I earn it justly.

The name of the article was "Cridiron"; don't know how far back Wikipedia caches stuff, so I'm not certain it's even recoverable. Just asking doesn't hurt, though. After all, I am supposed to be bold ;-)

Question about IP blocking

Hi, I've been reading the Wikipedia pages to see how I am supposed to report a user who has repeatedly ignored warnings on his talk page.

The user in question is under the IP address 67.151.178.146 and many of us have repeatedly warned him for vandalism and also for changing text from American English to British English.

We have given him two last warnings already, and I think it's time that the admins should "punish" him.

I was wondering if you could direct me to where I'm supposed to report this kind of abuse, or if you could personally take care of it (if you do, please also give me a link to where I can report this kind of abuse, so I'll know in the future).

P.S. I've been talking to him about it, but it seems he can't comprehend what I'm telling him, and he keeps thinking that his edits aren't vandalism.

Hmm, well, it seems to me that the template being sorted under Category:Profession user templates would imply that it's not talking about Wikipedia sysadmins, and as nearly 500 people use the userbox, it again can't be referring to WP sysadmins, as we don't have nearly the many. GoldToeMarionette (talk · contribs) had a WP:RFCU inappropriately completed on their account by Jayjg (talk · contribs) and Hall Monitor (talk · contribs) blocked the account after it was identified as a multiple account despite their being no violation of Wikipedia policy by GoldToeMarionette. These users did not respond to requests to undo the action.

The AfD was without controversy. GoldToeMarionette did not participate in the vote. HereToCleanup removed the posts following the AfD in accord with the widely accepted Wikipedia Guideline Wikipedia:Spam#Internal_spamming that states "Clean up your mess. For example, after engaging in cross-posting to promote some election, be sure to remove those cross-posts after the election is complete." [14]

I am asking for your help to confirm that policy was not violated, administrative action should not have been taken, and request that the administrative action be reversed by unblocking GoldToeMarionette and unprotecting the talk page. Hi! I just had to revert him again, so I figured I'd go to the 3rr violation page and add this new revert 19:08 to the list. But then I've seen you blocked him at 18:07. There's no mention of that on his talk page either. Anyway, I'm not too sure what to do here. Did you block him or not (or does it work only by IP so he can just change it and edit again?) and if not should I report him again? If you did so why only 12 hour? He was blocked 2 or 3 days ago on 3rr in the same article, again being stubborn and ignoring the talk page. If anything, one would think this should make his block harder, not weaker. Of course, it doesn't really look like anything short of an indefinite ban is going to make a difference for this user. How do we trace the perpetrators of Offensive material?

I am the Network Administrator at Oxley College. The Headmaster has been legitimately very upset at material that was personally offensive to him being posted in Wikipedia.

I quote below what appeared.

"The college has recently built a Physical Education centre and musical education centre. MR. WELSH IS A BIG FAT GAY ASS PRICK. WHO SUCKS DICK FOR MONEY AND LOOKS LIKE A CAIN TOAD!!!!!!!!!!"

VandalProof Indetification Bypass

I noticed (although have not tested) that vandalproof uses its wiki website to verify whether you're allowed. Without going into detail here, it seems that modifying a the hosts file on your computer could allow somebody to circumvent such a ban. Vandalproof broken?

I was using VandalProof this morning... but now when I open it, it says I'm not logged in. So I log in, and then it redirects back to your page... and says I'm still not logged in or not authorized. And the whole time, it shows me as logged in on the upper right. Oh, and after it redirects the second time, it crashes.

Regarding my block

I made three reverts on Saturday and three reverts on Sunday...this was to uphold NPOV against a person who had violated 8RR. Those that agreed with my view, including User:Gerdbrendel also broke 3RR (although I do not want his to be blocked, I'm just using the example). My block may have expired...but, this will always remain in my Block Log and after over 2500 edits it looks bad. Is it possible to review a block so that it can be removed from the Block Log. I'm sorry to disagree, but yes, they were. Your first revert was at 3:15 5 Aug 06 (UTC), your second revert was at 05:54 5 Aug 06 (UTC), your third revert was at 06:30 5 Aug 06 (UTC), and your fourth revert was at 0:22 6 Aug 06 (UTC). Those are your only four reverts within a 24 hour span on the article; however, they are 4 reverts in 24 hours, thus violating 3RR. I'm sorry that I had to block you, as you are someone I consider to be a quite respectable editor, which is thus why I very carefuly reviewed the edits submitted--in the end I found that both you and Gerdbrendel were in violation of 3RR and blocked you both accordingly and (IMO) fairly. Gerdbrendel has also written me an email in which he claimed that he was reverting vandalism and should thus be exempt from his 3RR block. I've yet to respond to his email; however, I will review this further. Yes I understand, I didn't really think before doing the fourth revert considering there were a few hours of sleep between the 3rd and 4th (around an 18 hour gap between them two). I won't go into the vandalism issue as it was a POV dispute. But in this case, we had a consensus and this person was trying to unilaterally change the article to their own beliefs and in doing so ignored consensus. I hope you don't mind my responding in English, Gerd; hoeever, I think keeping to one language will make all of this easier to follow. I understand that having this item in your block log will reflect badly upon your reputations; however, the simple fact is that you were both edit-warring on the article, and edit-warring, regardless of the circumstances, is highly disruptive to the project. This notion that you are allowed in automatic three reverts per day is also one that I hope you will lose, as it is simply not the case--3RR may be the policy; however, disruption is the issue. Rather than blindly reverting, try other mediums such as discussion, dispute resolution, etc., and in the future consider posting a request for page protection when situations like this get out of hand and if editors refuse to discuss changes before implementing. Also understand that administrators are required to treat all editors the same--as such when a 3RR violation is committed, blocking is obligatory as it would otherwise give the impression that certain editors are being treated less harshly than others. You are both, as I said, highly respectable editors, thus why I took extra care in reviewing both of your cases--in the end, I fregarding this article were disruptive. I also believe, in regard to your reputations, that otherwise will look at your extensive other contributions in judging you rather than focusing on this one incident. Anyway, if you believe that my actions here were incorrect or mistaken, please, by all means, post a message on WP:AN/I and request that your blocks be reviewed. I was at fault in some ways I guess...if you see on my talk page, the idea of Page Protection came to me a tad late. True instead of reverting we should have looked at alternatives sooner-there is simply little sense in continously reverting and discussing with those who are not able to abstain from the use of potentially offensive remarls. Howdy. I'm wondering what to do (delegate!) concerning newuser User:Jrosenbaum editing the Jonathan Rosenbaum article? They were good npov/cleanup edits, and he's a professional writer so (assumming it is he) it'd be really nice to have him welcomed but not overwhelmed, but I'm not familiar with all the username policies/procedures for possible notable editors. All I could find linkwise was Wikipedia:Autobiography#If Wikipedia already has an article about you, and Template:Notable Wikipedian which seems highly privacy-invasive to me (unless they place it themselves).

Plus I just finished reading his book on Dead Man, and would inevitably go all fanboyish on him, or over-proslytize that he join the wikiproject:film, or something! ;-)

Sockpuppets and trolls

Hello Ami, thanks for your help on the Gothic fiction page. I am just wondering whether I should mention my suspicions about a notorious female (?) user banned indefinately from the wikipedia about 29th July. She seems to have returned under another name (which I could give you if that would be appropriate) deleting swathes of Playboy Images, for some unknown reason, in a manic burst of activity, and has now changed her name again so that her user and talk page can't be seen. Hi; I've been assembling some help text for the VP menus at my sandbox, and I'd like to go ahead and create a subpage of the VP help and move the menu help text in. I'm only talking about the menus for now; the other sections I may create as I have time. User Bearly541

I believe that user Bearly541 should be removed from the approved users of VandalProof. Yesterday, he announced that he wanted to leave Wikipedia. See: [15] There was a long series of questionable uses of VandalProof and both User:Metros232 and I were about to report abuse of VandalProof when User:Bearly541 decided to leave Wikipedia. However, today, it appears he is back and is still using VandalProof. I'd appreciate your recommendation of the best way to deal with this. If there's another place where I should report the abuse or suggest that Bearly541 be removed from the list of approved VandalProof users, please direct me to the appropriate place. Should we consider that Wikipedia would not include any multimedia document? If we don't we should understand that A/ films always have author(s), and B/ hosting complete films is expensive, complex and cumbersome, so I doubt that Wikipedia will decide to have such internal multimedia documents. Documen.tv is NOT a personal website, but an association of filmmakers who are dedicated to make their work available in VOD to a wider audience, documen.tv just gather the copyright to do so and spread the cost of putting films on the web. This initiative is not a commercial one and cost us a lot of time, work and money. The documents we bring up are often the result of collaboration between, writers, journalists, cineastes, technicians, producers and broadcasters (major ones), and in majority present a pretty balanced approach of the topic they are dealing with. I am a big believer in initiatives such as Wikipedia; I don't consider it as an advertising platform, we don't believe in "advertising" but in "contents". We don't try neither to improve our ranking on search engines by spamming links around, we already are ranking on the first page with Google if you type "documentary ali farka touré" or "documentary Bismillah Khan" or "documentary srebrenica" or "documentary japan prison" for instance. If you add "vod" to the keywords we are ranking on the first line. Please try it. I recognize that I was so convince that was a good idea to "offer" Wikipedia a direct access to animated images, that I trespassed your rules. My mistake, sorry. Note that the links I proposed were directly related to the films and not the website itself. The documents I proposed are very often exclusive or rare ones. Few of them are already cited in the articles with external links to other article about the film, never to the film itself (Ali Farka Touré: Ça coule de source / Ali Farka Touré: Springing from the Roots ) for instance on the article bugchasing the film “The Gift” is cited in three links but non offers a direct access to the film. Beside other websites such www.imdb.com (a commercial one) is in external links on a lot of Wikipedia articles. Hi, I'm using VandalProof and find it to be a very useful tool. However, this is somewhat of a trivial question, but in the drop-down menu for updating the recent changes, I'm curious as to what "Hide WL Edits" means. System Requirement?

In the System Requirements subsection of VandalProof, the minimum processing power needed is not stated. I am using an antique PC which is only Pentium II, 300 Mhz with 512MB of RAM. My browser which I am using is Crazy Browser. A few months ago, when I installed this software, it completely slowed down the speed of my PC, resulting in a very slow navigation within Wikipedia. As a result of this, I had to uninstall this software. Thus, combating vandalism on Wikipedia is a very tedious process for me. Do you have any suggestios for this (besides getting a new PC!)? I really would like to deal with vandals in a much smoother and easier manner. Currently, I am doing this manually. GIen username change to Glen S

Hey buddy, because of valid issues raised in my RfA I've requested a username change to Glen_S (that's Glen with a lower case "L" this time not an "i"). It hasn't been processed as yet, but I've already approved the name in VandalProof v1.2.2 and v1.3, but could you please;

1. Approve Glen_S for use of VP2 and provide me with the login and password (assuming these change)
2. Enable Moderator privileges in V1.2.2
3. Enable Moderator privileges in V1.3
4. Enable Moderator access and privileges in our IRC channels (#vandalproof, #vandalproof-mod and #vandalproof-rc)

Deletion of Medelpad Rune Inscription 4

Hi there. I just noticed that you deleted this article I created. I was curious as to why it was deleted, and which process was followed to delete it? I looked through Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2006 June 21 and found nothing. I also looked through your contributions on June 21st to see if there were any edits made anywhere in regards to deleting this article, and I could find nothing. The only thing I have found is this entry in the Delete log:
