Block for an unsuitable username

[edit]
This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, American Investors, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. —EncMstr (talk) 23:53, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the hassle. You have been editing for five months and almost a thousand helpful and useful edits but, alas, no administrator has blocked you until now: this is the first time I noticed your username. The instructions above link to instructions for creating a new account and reassigning all your previous edits to your new account. Please be sure to choose a new name which does not suggest you are a group of people, organization, committee, etc. Thanks! —EncMstr (talk) 23:58, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Coastal Cup

[edit]

Hey American Money, ,
I wanted to let you know that I reverted your recent edit of the Fort Lauderdale–Tampa Bay rivalry page not to create an edit war, but because the subject is already covered in the "Current NASL" section of that wiki page. I was thinking that once the Coastal Cup begins to include Jacksonville (in terms of games played) this spring, that the Coastal Cup should be given its own page, separate from the Strikers-Rowdies rivalry. The Florida Derby (soccer) could certainly be mentioned as part of the Coastal Cup's 6 year history, but I don't think it would be right to shoe-horn Jax in to an existing page about a separate rivalry. It short changes them as a team, and it has little to do with the Rowdies–Strikers history. Your thoughts? All the best. -Creativewill (talk) 19:45, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey AM, -I just finished revising the Fort Lauderdale–Tampa Bay rivalry and creating a separate Coastal Cup (soccer) page to reflect Jacksonville Armada's participation in the Cup. Hope you like what I did. Of course it's open to improvement. Cheers -Creativewill (talk) 17:33, 1 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Chris Glodack

[edit]

The article Chris Glodack has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Hasn't received significant coverage nor played a fully pro league match. Therefore he fails both WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTBALL.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Category:1850 disestablishments in Massachusetts requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Women's Football / Soccer Task Force News: August 2017

Should the women's football task force become WikiProject: WOSO?

According to an op-ed in the recent Signpost, some editors think task forces and subgroups are dying in 2017.

What do you think about forming our own WikiProject separate from WP:FOOTY? There's an on-going discussion of the potential pros and cons on the task force talk page. Input is welcome.

Recent developments

New initiatives have been created for:

  • FA WSL (England's top-division league)
  • NCAA (American university teams, conferences, etc.)
  • W-League (Australia's top-division league)
Ongoing tournaments
Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues
Did you know?

While WP:FPL lists only two women's top-division leagues as notable due to its "fully professional" criteria, did you know you can create an article on any player in any league as long as the references meet WP:GNG guidelines? Make sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}.

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks page if you'd like and other editors may be able to help. Need tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors? Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

Establishment and disestablishment of USAF units

[edit]

Looking at a lot of edits you have made recently:

United States Air Force (and predecessors) units are not disestablished when they are inactivated. They are only disestablished when they are disbanded, or (earlier) demobilized. Depending on the type of unit, they may also be disestablished when they are discontinued. Both of the books on WW II units edited by Maurer have explanations of USAF organizational terms, as does the book on wings by Ravenstein.
Check WP:RCAT. Establishment (and disestablishment) of USAF units should be under the name they had when established or disestablished (sometimes a redirect), not their most recent name. For example, the 1942 military unit establishment category should include the 350th Bombardment Squadron, not the 350th Air Refueling Squadron.

Hope this helps. --Lineagegeek (talk) 20:08, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Match reports, just curious

[edit]

On the Tampa Bay Rowdies' match reports you always add the report from their website. But after a year they get archived and are no longer accessible. That's why i prefer using the reports from soccerway.com -not only do they remain accessible longer, but they usually have the refs and attendance listed as well. That's how I was able to fill in so many missing match stats from Rowdies games of the last 8 years or so. Was more curious than anything as to why you add those reports to the page even though they don't seem to offer new info. Thanks for all the work you do on them. Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles.

If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.

Did you know ...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in 1 active women's league)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues

What is a "disestablishments"?

[edit]

I am not sure what "disestablishments" means or if this is what you wanted. The Chicago City Railway did not merge into the Chicago Surface Lines, CCR was operated by the CSL but continued to own and (I think) pay for equipment until the takeover by the Chicago Transit Authority in 1947. A "paper company"? CCR was liquidated after the CTA takeover. But again, I don't know what you mean by "disestablishments".

I am not changing anything, just asking, no need to answer. Thank you. Sammy D III (talk) 14:50, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of 2015 Grand Rapids FC season for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article 2015 Grand Rapids FC season is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2015 Grand Rapids FC season (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Taxman1913 (talk) 22:17, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Prod notice

[edit]
Notice

The article Palm Beach Railway and Power Company has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Cannot find any mention of this company outside of this article. Company was supposedly incorporated under Florida statute chapter 4265, but, as of 2018, the highest chapter number in the Florida statutes is 1013. This article may be a hoax. The creator of the article has not edited in more than 11 years, so I cannot ask for their comments.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. - Donald Albury 04:10, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

May 2019/Ariel Viegas

Hello. Good job updating the Ariel Viegas article. One thing though, what source do you have for the El Farolito league statistics? I reverted as you didn't leave a RS, and I couldn't find one via a quick Google search. R96Skinner (talk) 18:06, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

For NPSL stats, I go to the team's schedule on the league website and manually click through the game reports. http://npsl.bonzidev.com/sam/standings/regevent/index.php?containerId=OTk3ODU0MA%3D%3D&partialGames=0 American Money (talk) 18:17, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see. Sadly I don't think that's enough to add the statistics to Wikipedia, due to Wikipedia:No original research. Is there a centralized location for NPSL stats? A lot of leagues do them but can be hard to find, I'd assume an American league would have them listed somewhere. R96Skinner (talk) 19:06, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately I haven't found any single site that has NPSL stats like MLS or the 3 USL leagues. The best we could do maybe is a link to the team schedule for each year the player featured for an NPSL team, though I imagine that wouldn't satisfy the requirements. American Money (talk) 22:17, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Frustrating! Perhaps an idea, though: We could bundle each match report? That may violate OR but I'm not sure. I've done it, if any other editors object then we can have a broader discussion about it. I'd recommend archiving each match report with Wayback Machine when updating the statistics, to avoid link rot. Is this all good with you? R96Skinner (talk) 00:31, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Direct, reliable sources needed for Days of the Year pages

[edit]

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages now require direct reliable sources for additions. For details see the content guideline, the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide or the edit notice on any DOY page. Almost all new additions without references are now being reverted on-sight.

Please do not add new additions to these pages without direct sources as the burden to provide them is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages.

Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 20:49, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WOSO editors!

What a year to be alive. As usual (but perhaps even moreso since there have been unexpected quarantines), there has been a lot of activity on player, team, league and tournament-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of women's football / soccer. Great work!

Fall Focus: FA WSL articles

You may have noticed lots of great things going on for the top English league this year: the FA WSL. More (international!) broadcasts, top international player signings, improved media coverage, and increased viewership. Let's keep the momentum brewing, shall we?

Here's a sampling of articles that could use creation, expansion or updating. What will you commit to working on?

Historical Topics
Managers
Teams
Players
Other

See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Women's football task force/Initiatives/FA WSL to collaborate and organize with other editors.

I have reverted your addition of an unsourced date of birth to Gary Imhoff. In addition to Wikipedia's basic principle of citing sources (Wikipedia:Citing sources), a special need for citations applies with regard to elements of a biography of a living person (WP:BLPPRIVACY). Feel free to add a date of birth when it is accompanied by a citation to a reliable, published, non-primary source. Eddie Blick (talk) 01:30, 30 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
