Sorry I missed you when I posted my greetings last night. If you saw my note at the end of the talk page, you saw that I feared I might miss a few people to whom I should have sent greetings - and sure enough I did. You do good work for the project and that should be acknowledged. And I look forward to working with you as the occasion arises. Have a happy and healthy year. Inclusionist, deletionist and mergist

I see you have categorised yourself as a deletionist Wikipedian, an inclusionist Wikipedian and a mergist Wikipedian. Forgive me if I have missed something obvious to other people, but how can you be all three? Vorbee (talk) 09:21, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Vorbee, it's because I don't particularly lean towards one of the options and the angle I take depends on the article in question. Cheers, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 15:21, 10 January 2019 (UTC)

The correction on the "Dembow" article was made by me. It has already been cited by prior contributing editors. The deletions I made were added information "Dominican Republic" that did not concur with the source citation that was originally provided. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Acortes1776 (talkcontribs) 23:09, 26 January 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome, could you help me out a bit

Hi Rubbish computer, I'm very new to this. You recently undid an edit I made saying it looked like a test. It wasn't a test, and I was wondering what I did that made it look like one. How could I do it differently/better? I'm planning on making more edits if I can get the hang of it. Thanks in advance for your help. Jonah (talk) 23:26, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Jonah the Whale, I saw you remove some text and add <br>; you needed to leave an edit summary explaining what you are doing. Don't be put off by this, though; we were all new to Wikipedia at one time, and if you have any more questions you can come here, or ask at Wikipedia:Teahouse. Cheers, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 23:33, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
My mistake Jonah the Whale, you did leave an edit summary, I just didn't notice it because I wasn't careful enough. My apologies, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 23:56, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Ah, OK. Thanks, I was starting to get confused. I have undone your undo. Cheers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonah the Whale (talkcontribs) 00:04, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Hi, I'm PRehse. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, Dong Wenfei, and have marked it as unpatrolled. Mainly because it has been constantly recreated after AfD. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you.

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

PRehse (talk) 11:52, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi PRehse, sorry I didn't realise this: I've tagged the page for speedy deletion under WP:G4. Cheers, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 12:18, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
PRehse, Rubbish computer, I have declined the speedy as the article was not sufficently identical to the deleted version, and contained assertions of notability that the version deleted via discussion in 2014 did not contain. However, it was a close call, since the two articles were quite similar. If either of you think it should be deleted, please send it to WP:AFD. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 18:14, 30 January 2019 (UTC)
Cheers for letting me know, ONUnicorn. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 18:16, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

Request reason:

My IP range has been blocked for a month but not my account and I'm unsure of what to do about this. Is there a way I could still edit? Edit: This is the blocked range https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/2A01:4C8:0:0:0:0:0:0/36 I'm not sure what edits have been made from it or who I share it with. Accept reason:

Block changed to soft block. SQLQuery me! 23:27, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

@Materialscientist: I don't have checkuser permissions so can't tell whether this user is meant to be the target of the block. Presumably you, Materialscientist, can tell. If not, there are obviously a couple of options here. --Yamla (talk) 13:24, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Yamla, I seem to be only blocked when I use mobile data on my phone. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 13:36, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
I seem to be able to edit on my laptop as well: it must be a different IP when I use mobile data. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 13:40, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
  • @Yamla: Materialscientist has pings turned off, I believe. @Bbb23: I believe that MS was placing this block pursuant to the last case that you did here. I'm not sure if he meant that to be an anonblock instead of a hard block. Since you have seen into this range recently, do you have any thoughts on this? If hardblock is appropriate then an IPBE may be a solution. Range block log.
     — Berean Hunter (talk) 19:29, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
  • @Berean Hunter: I can't of course guess as to what was in Materialscientist's mind. There are a lot of socks editing from that range in the last 30 days (as much as I can check as it's so busy), not just the socks from "my" case but others as well. Notwithstanding, Rubbish computer is not the only experienced editor who may be impacted by a hard block, so I've gone ahead and changed it to a soft block for the same time frame. If Materialscientist actually does have pings turned off, someone should probably give him a heads up on his Talk page as a courtesy, although I put in an explanation in my block.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:39, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
I think being IPBE would help because the range has been blocked more than once and I don't know how long I'll be a part of it for, when I'm out of the house I usually have to use mobile data while editing. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 19:53, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Cheers Bbb23, Berean Hunter and Yamla for the help with this and responding to my concerns: much appreciated. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 20:44, 4 March 2019 (UTC)

Please participate to the talk pages consultation

Hello

Our team at the Wikimedia Foundation is working on a project to improve the ease-of-use and productivity of wiki talk pages. As a Teahouse host, I can imagine you’ve run into challenges explaining talk pages to first-time participants.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis – to ask questions, to resolve differences, to organize projects and to make decisions. Communication is essential for the depth and quality of our content, and the health of our communities. We're currently leading a global consultation on how to improve talk pages, and we're looking for people that can report on their experiences using (or helping other people to use) wiki talk pages. We'd like to invite you to participate in the consultation, and invite new users to join too.

We thank you in advance for your participation and your help.

NPR Newsletter No.17

Hello Alextejthompson,

News
Discussions of interest
  • Two elements of CSD G6 have been split into their own criteria: R4 for redirects in the "File:" namespace with the same name as a file or redirect at Wikimedia Commons (Discussion), and G14 for disambiguation pages which disambiguate zero pages, or have "(disambiguation)" in the title but disambiguate a single page (Discussion).
  • {{db-blankdraft}} was merged into G13 (Discussion)
  • A discussion recently closed with no consensus on whether to create a subject-specific notability guideline for theatrical plays.
  • There is an ongoing discussion on a proposal to create subject-specific notability guidelines for chemicals and organism taxa.
Reminders
  • NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. The deletion policy and its associated guideline clearly emphasise that not all unsuitable articles must be deleted. Redirects are not contentious. See a classic example of the templates to use. More templates are listed at the R template index. Reviewers who are not aware, do please take this into consideration before PROD, CSD, and especially AfD because not even all admins are aware of such policies, and many NAC do not have a full knowledge of them.
NPP Tools Report
  • Superlinks – allows you to check an article's history, logs, talk page, NPP flowchart (on unpatrolled pages) and more without navigating away from the article itself.
  • copyvio-check – automatically checks the copyvio percentage of new pages in the background and displays this info with a link to the report in the 'info' panel of the Page curation toolbar.
  • The NPP flowchart now has clickable hyperlinks.

AfD Relists

Hi. I noticed you recently relisted Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Apical Group. First you should be aware of WP:RELISTBIAS but in this case it was probably best not to relist at all given the a third relist should only happen in special circumstances and should be accompanied by a comment according to WP:RELIST. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 22:09, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Barkeep49, I wasn't aware of those requirements for third relistings: my apologies. Cheers, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 22:18, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
Rubbish computer Did you read relist bias? I ask because I think your relating of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Futility Closet Podcast episodes shows this. There are multiple delete !votes and one vested keep. I ask you to revert and let a sysop make a decision. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 12:41, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
Yes I did Barkeep49 and I see what you mean, I'm making sure to be much more careful with relisting and only doing so if it benefits the discussion. I've self reverted as you requested. Cheers, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 12:45, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Anthony Bliss

Hi, can you answer my query to the closing admin, which I added to the AfD discussion? The subject of the article has changed from Anthony Bliss the son (as created) to Anthony Bliss the father (last week) to both men (this week), however its wikidata item has the date of death and Clergy of the Church of England database ID of Anthony Bliss (son): is this a problem and what, if anything, needs to be done about it?TSventon (talk) 17:55, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi TSventon, the article now appears to be about two people mention both people, [1]. I'll check the wikidata item. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 17:58, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

The Norwegian Civilian Marksmanship Association

Why would you close Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2019 May 9#The Norwegian Civilian Marksmanship Association as "No consensus"? Sam Sailor 15:45, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Sam Sailor Because I've been told less than an hour ago I didn't need to relist discussions that many times, which is true. I have no objection to you re-opening it. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 15:47, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
But that is not an answer to my question. How do you read the outcome of the discussion as "No consensus"? Sam Sailor 15:52, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
Hi Sam Sailor, I've been over it and I think I must have seen it had been relisted three times and rushed to close it. I rushed it and I'm sorry about that, you can reopen it if you want. I'd be willing to avoid closing discussions in future. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 15:55, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
Now I've reopened it, problem solved. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 15:57, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
Thank you. Undoing a closure in a case like this also requires that the edits to the page in question and its associated talk page are undone. Not knowing when you return, I hope you don't mind if I undo them. Sam Sailor 17:36, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
@Sam Sailor: I have no objection to that. Cheers, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 17:37, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Interior solution

I can't say I think much to your close of Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2019 May 9#Interior solution. I know someone pushed you into closing, but clearly you did not think that was the right thing to do, and I think you should retract that. A "no consensus" close without any guidance fails to plot a way forward. Shoving it back to a talk page discussion is unlikely to get a resolution either. No consensus, for a nomination proposing delete defaults to keep. But this one was not proposing delete and the closer gave no indication on what this should default to. In any case, I think the close was wrong. The only "keep" was on the basis of an incorrect assumption (that a standalone article existed). I pointed out this error, and the editor who made it did not dispute my comment or reafirm their keep. In view of these complexities, I think a non-admin closure was inappropriate per WP:NACPIT point #3. SpinningSpark 17:43, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Spinningspark, I think you're right and I've decided to reopen it. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 17:48, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
To be fair, I didn't push Rubbish computer to close it, I was simply wanting an explanation why a third relist was necessary per WP:RELIST because I'm looking to combat the WP:RELISTBIAS problem that's currently ongoing at RfD. I agree that a simple "no consensus" close without any further explanation isn't fair either. -- Tavix (talk) 18:29, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Suspected Sockpuppets

Hey, Rubbish,

I'm going through some suspected sockpuppet categories that are not keyed (filed) correctly and noticed that you made quite a few of these categories in January. In the future, could you use the tag for these categories? For example, it's {{sockpuppet category|Liz}} if I had a suspected sockpuppet, right at the top of the page. With this tag, it means that this subcategory will be filed under "Liz" instead of "Suspected". Plus, you don't have to manually add any categories to the page. Thanks! Liz Read! NPR Newsletter No.18

Hello Alextejthompson,

WMF at work on NPP Improvements

Niharika Kohli, a product manager for the growth team, announced that work is underway in implementing improvements to New Page Patrol as part of the 2019 Community Wishlist and suggests all who are interested watch the project page on meta. Two requested improvements have already been completed. These are:

  • Allow filtering by no citations in page curation
  • Not having CSD and PRODs automatically marked as reviewed, reflecting current consensus among reviewers and current Twinkle functionality.
Reliable Sources for NPP

Rosguill has been compiling a list of reliable sources across countries and industries that can be used by new page patrollers to help judge whether an article topic is notable or not. At this point further discussion is needed about if and how this list should be used. Please consider joining the discussion about how this potentially valuable resource should be developed and used.

Backlog drive coming soon

Look for information on the an upcoming backlog drive in our next newsletter. If you'd like to help plan this drive, join in the discussion on the New Page Patrol talk page.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I added this link; https://undp-biodiversity.exposure.co/stimulating-growth

as an External Link to this Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregory_C._Carr#External_links

After that I got this message:

User talk:115.87.49.119 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigationJump to search May 2019[edit]

Hello, I'm Rubbish computer. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to Gregory C. Carr because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 13:24, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

I would like to explain that the UNDP article refers the Carr Foundation and that Gregory C Carr is the founder of the Carr Foundation and therefore the article is relevant and should appear as an external link in his Wikipedia page.

Can you please help?

Thank you, Vasco Galante

Director of Communications Gorongosa National Park/Carr Foundation

Hi Vasco, the link looked irrelevant to the article when I initially saw it but as you've explained it wasn't, so it's okay to add. Cheers, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 10:22, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

Orthodox Jewry

Hi, you deleted a couple if sentences that I agreed yesterday regarding the negative implications of a rabbi ordaining an orthodox gay rabbi. What I wrote is a precise, true and factual reflection and is not intended as negative rather and is only a precise description of the orthodox Jewish veiws on the action that the rabbi did. PeretzGutmann (talk) 17:48, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi PeretzGutmann, this may be a view held by some people but this is still non-neutral and an opinion, and therefore should not have been added to the article. Wikipedia can present viewpoints on a topic and who holds them but should not include such viewpoints written as if they are factual. Thanks, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 06:47, 30 May 2019 (UTC)

It is not an opinion that orthodox Jewry who by definition, heed by the written and oral laws prescribed by the God of the Jews, reject and consider homosexual acts as an abomination. It's a fact and there are no other ways to look at that. It's orthodox Jewry by definition any other way of looking at that is not orthodox Jewry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PeretzGutmann (talkcontribs) 09:30, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Notice

The article Josef Doppler has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (biographies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:38, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi Piotrus, I created this article at a time when I think I lacked overall experience with which articles were notable. I have no objection to its deletion. I could CSD tag it or just let the PROD expire in a week, not sure which is preferable. Cheers, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 12:30, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Flickr Commons

Hello RC, I would like to include this pic in the new article Aziz Abu Sarah but I've never uploaded from this site before, and I don't understand the procedure nor the propriety of same based on the existing licensing the pic has. Havradim (talk) 02:12, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi Havradim, I've only uploaded my own work before so unfortunately I'm not sure how to answer, just not experienced in this area. If you ask at Wikipedia:Teahouse, someone should get back to you with an answer soon. Thanks, Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 11:44, 5 June 2019 (UTC)
