Question from Dano Staffino (13:22, 7 October 2022)
Hi,
I'm Daniel, I'm Marketing Manager in Staffino. We are doing some brand awareness activities, include Wikipedia page creation. I just want to write article about Staffino. I have verified internal information and want to share it through Wikipedia.
I can create a article only on slovak wikipedia, not english. Can you help me?
Thank you
Best regards
Daniel --Dano Staffino (talk) 13:22, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) @Dano Staffino: You may not use Wikipedia as advertising, promotion or publicity for your company, for any reason or at any time. Your company isn't entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. A company must meet Wikipedia's notability criteria to be considered worthy of inclusion. This requires that your company to have signficant coverage from multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself.
- Please also review and comply with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure policy. Your existing conflict of interest disclosure on your userpage is not sufficient to satisfy this requirement. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 15:02, 7 October 2022 (UTC)
Question from Palakshreya05 on Help:Getting started (13:48, 25 September 2022)
Can i post my own post on Wikipedia. Like poetry, stories? --Palakshreya05 (talk) 13:48, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Palakshreya05, sorry for the delay, been very busy. Unfortunately that sort of content falls outside the purpose of Wikipedia. Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 18:48, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
Question from Evans521 (09:58, 27 September 2022)
how do i write an article on wikipidia --Evans521 (talk) 09:58, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Evans521, you can learn more about this at Wikipedia:My first article. It is difficult to write articles, hope it goes well. Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 18:50, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

Question from Didarul Amin (03:55, 11 October 2022)
how to add my profile picture? --Didarul Amin (talk) 03:55, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Didarul Amin, we don't use profile pictures here like on sites like Facebook. You could upload a self portrait to Wikimedia Commons, but would probably need to make more contributions first; I don't know much about what threshold is needed to do so, however. Hope this helps, Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 17:05, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
Question from Azkination (15:38, 14 October 2022)
Hello! Is there a way I can make my pages more interesting? To pull attention? --Azkination (talk) 15:38, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Azkination, unfortunately the draft you have created isn't suited to Wikipedia: see Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Such information could potentially be used on Wikibooks; see en.wikibooks.org . We don't try to get the attention of readers; instead, we let them find useful information themselves. Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 17:08, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- For Wikibooks, it would also need editing a little to removed self promotion. I understand wanting more people to subscribe to your YouTube, but that's outside the purpose of both Wikipedia and Wikibooks. Hope this helps, Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 17:10, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022
Hello Alextejthompson,
Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.
Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.
Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.
Suggestions:
- There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
- Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
- Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
- This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.
Backlog:
Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!
- Reminders
- Newsletter feedback - please take this short poll about the newsletter.
- If you're interested in instant messaging and chat rooms, please join us on the New Page Patrol Discord, where you can ask for help and live chat with other patrollers.
- Please add the project discussion page to your watchlist.
- If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be a reviewer, please ask any admin to remove you from the group. If you want the tools back again, just ask at PERM.
- To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Question from Dina Cintura (22:48, 25 October 2022)
hi I would like to create a page for my women owned and operated business in New Orleans, La. Please let me know what the process is. thanks, Dina --Dina Cintura (talk) 22:48, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Dina Cintura, sorry for the delay. Writing an article about a business you run is not a good idea; it's not forbidden, but there are guidelines to it and it's tricky: you can read more about this at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Question from Feminist Hulk (16:57, 6 November 2022)
Hi there I've made my first edits to an article, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FiLiA I chose this as it's an area of research that I have some knowledge of and I wanted to improve the accuracy of the article and expand it's knowledge. I referenced my edits well and tried to maintain an NPOV on potentially controversial elements. A previous author immediately rolled it back, removed useful material, added back in some inaccurate information (e.g. the CEO has never been Heather Brunskell-Evans) and reverted to what appears to be a very biased view. Would you be able to suggest what I could do now as I would like to improve the quality of the article but I am very aware that I don't want to get into an edit war with them. Many thanks --Feminist Hulk (talk) 16:57, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Feminist Hulk, I would attempt to discuss the edits at the talk page with the user there. Hope this helps, Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 20:45, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
Edit count

- Hi Sarrail, hopefully yes. Finally getting back into editing a lot, it's been years. Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 19:27, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Well, good luck on this goal. Sarrail (talk) 19:30, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
Thank you Sarrail. Also focusing less on edit count these days, although it is high; I measure my contributions more in the time I spend online. Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 19:35, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Question from JustHistoryLiam (21:57, 16 November 2022)
What are the best ways to edit in Wikipedia? --JustHistoryLiam (talk) 21:57, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi JustHistoryLiam, there's so many ways to edit. You can write an article or improve existing ones. You can even go to a random page and check for stuff like spelling or grammar mistakes. Are there any topics or areas you have in mind? Rubbish computer (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 20:29, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors
Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.
We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 02:40, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
