Hi Alexius, how are you?
I made this new page, of the sister of the actress Benedicta Boccoli. She is wonderful as her sister, but unfortunately I've no pictures of her, sorry.
Please, do you have some minutes of your precious time to read this page if I wrote some mistake in my poor English? Thank you for your help.
Sincerely
Rei Momo (talk) 17:40, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay - I was away from my computer for a couple weeks. It looks like a couple other editors have worked on it that the article looks pretty good now. AlexiusHoratius 13:05, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Uploading images to Wikipedia
Hi User:AlexiusHoratius I notice that you have uploaded many (wonderful) photos to Wikipedia that are NOT used in any existing article. Whenever I have attempted to do this, I get a proposed deletion notice because they insist an existing non-user/talk page must be specified that uses the image. How do you do it? Thank you so much for your valuable time. Respond here or on my talk page if you like.--Foobarnix (talk) 17:15, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
- What type of images are you trying to upload? Usually issues with images having to be in articles have to do with non-free or fair use images. With these, there are a lot more rules than there are with self-licensed photos (which account for 99% of the images I upload). If you take a photo yourself, license it properly, and upload it to commons, you shouldn't have any problems. AlexiusHoratius 17:39, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for responding. Yes, they are drawings created by the author who sent the permissions forms to Wikimedia and actually got a ticket number for them. Nevertheless, I ran into trouble when I tried to include them on my home page (for later use). Do they, in fact, not require that an existing article page be specified when you upload photos you took yourself?--Foobarnix (talk) 14:55, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
- Your question mentions two distinct types of images (drawings okayed for use on Wikipedia by another person and uploaded by you, and photos you take and upload yourself). In the first case, if the images are released for use on a Wikipedia article, but not for other uses, those generally have to stay out of user space and should be used only in articles. If you took photos yourself, (which sounds like the second part of your question) there is little limit to uploading or using the images (within reason - don't upload thirty photos of your cat or something.) Sequoyah Hills
Otherwise great editor Bms4880 has made the Sequoyah Hills, Tennessee page unnecessarily deceptive; and is unwilling to remedy the issue. The primary info box currently reads "Area: 18 acres," this is in fact the size of a small area within Sequoyah Hills.
He specifies that this is the area for the "Talahi Area" in the notes, but given that is the case, why make the primary info box on the page specific to only one small subsection of the community in question?
A direct parallel would be making the primary info box on the Manhattan page specific solely to the Chrysler Building. It makes no sense, and causes senseless confusion.
As it stands, the primary info box on Sequoyah Hills lists a neighborhood that is several thousand acres in size at "Area: 18 acres."
174.50.242.82 (talk) 19:01, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
- It looks like User:Orlady has moved the infobox down in the article, which seems to be a good compromise. It no longer appears to represent the entire article. AlexiusHoratius 19:43, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Mark Twain
Dear Alexius, I would like to make a change to the Mark Twain page, which is protected (I guess, by you). I would like to add a new book with never-before published texts of Twain about a little known trip Twain took to Berlin, Germany, in 1891-92. The name of the book is "A Tramp in Berlin. New Mark Twain Stories," the publisher is Berlinica Publishing, and the author is, besides Twain himself, Andreas Austilat. It is from 2013. Here is the cover copy:
In fall 1891, Mark Twain headed for Berlin, the “newest city I have ever seen,” as America’s foremost humorist wrote; accompanied by his wife, Olivia, and their three daughters. Twain, a “Yankee from head to toe,” according to the Berlin press, conspired with diplomats, frequented the famed salons, had breakfast with duchesses, and dined with the emperor. He also suffered an “organized dog-choir club,” at his first address, which he deemed a “rag-picker’s paradise,” picked a fight with the police, who made him look under his maid’s petticoats, was abused by a porter, got lost on streetcars, was nearly struck down by pneumonia, and witnessed a proletarian uprising right in front of his hotel on Unter den Linden. Twain penned articles about his everyday life and also began a novel about lonely Prussian princess Wilhelmina von Preussen—unpublished until now, like many of his Berlin stories. These are assembled for the first time in this book, along with a riveting account of Twain’s foray in the German capital, by Andreas Austilat.
How would I get this, or an abbreviated version of that on Wikipedia? Berlinica (talk) 01:15, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
- The best place to suggest a change like this is on the article's talk page at Talk:Mark Twain. Other editors who know more about Twain than I do can discuss the addition with you there, and come to a consensus as to how to change the article. AlexiusHoratius 02:22, 18 February 2014 (UTC)
Perhaps you could consider protecting the version that has the material under discussion on it? The talk page looks a bit silly at present, talking about non-existent content. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 16:13, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Unless there is an issue like obvious vandalism or a BLP violation, I hardly ever fully protect a version other than the current one. However, I added a link to a diff showing the material being discussed on the talk page. AlexiusHoratius 16:32, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for that. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 18:32, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Ashkan Dejagah
Could you please protect Ashkan Dejagah. The two editors are beginning to edit war with each other again. JMHamo (talk) 18:16, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- I've protected it for three days. AlexiusHoratius 18:30, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Classic Wikipedia request here - "please protect, on grounds of edit warring, the page that I've just this minute edit warred on". Irony (as we might charitably call it) apparently overlooked by administrator... W. P. Uzer (talk) 18:56, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Uzer is completely correct here. Alexius -- I think that as you are the admin who acted on JMHamo's suggestion, this would be appropriate for you to look at. JMHamo tag-teamed a deletion by another editor, who failed to even refer to (let alone explain) his deletion in his edit summary. Zero explanation. Just a deletion. In violation of wp:lede. JMHamo simply supported that deletion by tag-teaming and deleting ... again, with zero substantive rationale. Any with a wholly baseless assertion that others' (ironic, at best, as Uzer says) are edit warring. Asking you to protect the page in, as he had just edited it, the form he put it in -- without any substantive discussion. I'm sure as an uninvolved admin that you want to see what actually happened.--Epeefleche (talk) 20:01, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Classic Wikipedia request here - "please protect, on grounds of edit warring, the page that I've just this minute edit warred on". Irony (as we might charitably call it) apparently overlooked by administrator... W. P. Uzer (talk) 18:56, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Alexius. FYI -- I'm not sure there has in fact been editing rising to the level of editing warring in the 3RR sense (at least) in the last 24 hours at the page you just protected, though there has certainly been a dispute as to editing and have been tag-team reversions (without substantive explanation) and the like. Discussion of the behavior, and the content dispute, is being had at the guideline talkpage indicated on the article's talkpage, for the past day. You will note from that discussion that the very behavior of substance-less tag-team reversion, here in conflict with wp:lede, was engaged in by the very editor who asserted without supporting it that edit warring -- rather than appropriate BRD editing, and discussion-- was occurring. --Epeefleche (talk) 19:54, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- 3rr is just a rough guide and edit warring can still occur without 3rr being breached. Is the primary issue whether the subject's nationality should appear in the article's lead section? AlexiusHoratius 22:44, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Well, I guess that turns into a query for you. Did you protect the article -- prompted by JMHamo -- against the activity he asserted was edit warring? When he wrote above that "two editors" are "beginning to edit war ... again?"
- BTW, I'm not sure why JMHamo came to an individual, rather than going to a board, but perhaps you know.
- It would appear from his note that JMHamo was referring to the most recent single reversion I made -- which he (hence, the extreme "irony") in turn reverted, without any substantive rationale or discussion whatsoever. The issue there, as you can see, was wp:lede. I then raised the issue of his tag-teaming with substance-less reversions in contravention of wp:lede on the talkpage here.
- RidiQLus (the editor with whom JMHamon tag-teamed deletions) later, in talkpage discussion, indicated his rationale as "His intro shouldn't have the negative aspects of his career, only the positives.". This, despite my having pointed out that wp:lede provides that "the lead should summarize the most important points in the article — including any prominent controversies".
- You protected the article in the form that RidiQLus and JMHamon reverted it to. Which had no competent support for its form. It was clearly in contravention of wp:lede. Talk page discussion that has ensued at the guideline -- which I had initiated -- has come up with zero support for violating wp:lede in that fashion. And yet, that's the form that you saved the article in, prompted by one of the two editors.
- WP:PROTECT states: "Since protecting the most current version sometimes rewards edit warring by establishing a contentious revision, administrators may also revert to an old version of the page predating the edit war if such a clear point exists." Here, we have such a case. The issue is wp:lede, which is clear. The only substantive support for the tag-team deletion by RidiQLus and JMHamon -- the baseless assertion that the lede "shouldn't have the negative aspects of his career, only the positives " -- is clearly an improper point to support, as referred to by wp:protect.--Epeefleche (talk) 02:00, 17 March 2014 (UTC)

I messed up a Wiki article with my citations.
Hi, I messed up a Wiki article with my citations, and now I want to fix it. I'm new to things, so I'm shooting in the dark a little. I want to learn about Wiki edits in general, but I especially want to fix the article I messed up and get the flags off that article. I've posted some questions about this on some other users talk pages, but I don't know how long they will take getting back to me. I apologize for my lack of expertise with all of this. University page vandalism
Hi Alexius,
Thank you for placing protection for Webster University Thailand page, however the currently protected page has content placed by the vandal under username of Faoner. The same user is using citations to a website Collegetimes.us, Collegetimes.tv, which is known to have purposefully inserted incorrect information about educational institutions, and a judge in the United States concluded that the site maliciously removed positive reviews with and ordered the website to pay Numont University $1 million USD in damages
- cite web|title=Neumont University, LLC v. Little Bizzy, LLC et al|website=http://dockets.justia.com/docket/nevada/nvdce/2:2012cv01395/89285/}}.
In light of this information ho As per vandals edit, current version of website contains several factual errors, such as wrong president name cite web|title=President|website=http://www.webster.edu/president/}}, wrong endowment (it is not $0)
cite web|title=U.S. News College Compass|website=http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/webster-university-2521}}</ref> and implied racism (do staff nationalities matter?). Further information is available in the pages talk section. The links to Collegetimes should be blacklisted from Wikipedia. The site has been sued for malicious reviews and for falsifying information.
- The article's talk page is the best place to work out solutions to editing disagreements. Unless there is blatant vandalism, and that isn't the case here, I usually just protect the version of the article that I find after a request is made at WP:Requests for page protection. AlexiusHoratius 22:28, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
User Sayoon3 started vandalising the page on 22nd of January ,(1). placement of non factual information, (2). implied racism as above, (3). removal of accreditation information. After his account was banned, the same behavior was continued from 13th of Feb under account Faoner. I believe page protection was requested but currently the vandalized content is protected (please see page's talk page for protection request and history for continued vandalism). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Poinsot9 (talk • contribs) 02:00, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
Hello Alexius, unfortunately you have protected the page after it was vandalised again. If you look at the talk page, I have pointed out several errors that are repeatedly being edited into the article, including the racist comments about the nationality of the campus director, the name of the University President (it's Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble, and not the campus director) and the information about the endowment. Webster University Thailand is simply one of several international campuses run by Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, a University with a $111 million endowment. We appreciate the effort to protect the page, but unfortunately, you have now protected incorrect and racist information. Inkyhack (talk) 17:22, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
- See my comment at the article's talk page - I lifted the protection for now since it looks like you have a point about the school's affiliation. Please use the talk page for editing disputes instead of revert warring on the article in the future. AlexiusHoratius 17:49, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
Re Webster_University_Thailand the campus is a franchise and pays to use Webster's name and logo, that is the only affiliation with US campus. Endowment is not shared, faculty not shared, curriculum not shared, Director and all his vice directors are from India, most faculty from India or other non-US countries. It is not American, never has been, never will be. Don't assist this for-profit diploma mill in their marketing lies. Faoner (talk) 15:12, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Hello Alexius - the Webster University Thailand page was finally fixed a day ago. Another use came through, cleanly edited it and made it very neutral. All of that work was just undone by Faoner who clearly has a vendetta against the Thailand campus of the American University. Any help you can offer in fixing the page and stopping Faoner from the continued vandalism would be greatly appreciated. Inkyhack (talk) 23:36, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Hi Alexius, the university page is improving with new sections and now has over twenty citations. However, no mather what content is added user Faoner is constantly vadalising the page. Please have a look at the activity and I would hope there is some protection placed on the neutral and detailed version.Poinsot9 (talk) 15:42, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Dearest Alexius, how are you? Here, perhaps, is coming Spring... :-)
I opened this new page, a little longer than the others... and I ask some minutes of your precious time to read it and to correct my mistakes. Please.
I love this shrine, it's only 40 minutes by car far from my house.
Thanks a lot for your precious help!

- I wanted to say that from the Speedway Gate you can see the bell tower of the shrine. Thank youuuuuuuuuu :-) Rei Momo (talk) 22:39, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi. I saw you protected the page of Calvin Cheng from vandalism a couple of months ago. It has now expired and new accounts are being created to vandalise the page again. I was wondering whether you could protect it again? Thank you
Aricialam (talk) 04:26, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
- I took a look at it and I think I'm going to hold off for now. There have only been a couple edits since the protection expired. If the situation gets any worse let me know or report it at WP:RFPP. AlexiusHoratius 23:08, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Dearest Alexius, how are you? Here Spring is arrived, wow!!!
I opened this page now, and I'm asking some minutes of your time to correct it, and also please to put the page in Wikidata, because today I'm not able to do, I think my PC is drunk, ah ah ah!
Thanks a lot for your precious help and Happy Easter to you and your family.

Cook Expeditions Map Source
Hi :)
I was looking at this map you've done so wonderfully and was wondering what you've used as source to pin point such exact routes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Cook_Three_Voyages_59.png
Thanks!
- The main sources I used are listed on the image's page. All three had subtle differences so sometimes there was a bit of gray area where I had to make a decision on which to go with. Even then, people will point out oversights and errors from time to time. On the whole, I think the sources used were accurate enough for the purpose of the map - to give a general idea of the routes taken. AlexiusHoratius 22:08, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thank your quick answer. Have scrolled passed that area i guess multiple times. Another question is, do you have this in a vector format, or GIS format?
- No, I'm not able to produce vector images. If someone out there wants to convert it that would be fine. AlexiusHoratius 22:16, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
