Crash (song was never deleted as the result of a discussion. It was deleted with a quoted CSD#R3 rationale, but one that was obviously bogus. G4 is thus inapplicable. WilyD 09:54, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

new HamletHub page

We were blocked by you, due to a couple of reasons, one being that we created the page with a "promotional account" named HamletHub, and also because we did not edit the page for a while. [[1]]

I would like to recreate the page with a different username. I will have someone else create the page so it is not at all promotional. HamletHub was recently cited by two notable sources: Columbia Journalism Review http://www.cjr.org/behind_the_news/fairfield_county_local_news.php?page=all and Street Fight Magazine http://streetfightmag.com/2014/02/27/how-one-community-news-project-grew-from-one-blog-to-30-sites-with-more-on-the-way

I wanted to check with you before I created the article to make sure it was ok

My talk page is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:KenDJr

Thanks,

Ken KenDJr (talk) 12:59, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Promotional? Yes. COI? Yes. Also usernames cannot be shared accounts. "Because we did not edit the page for a while"? No. There is no such requirement. You do not need to check with me. If the article and the subject meet the Golden Rule, then it should be ok. Do read the Plain and Simple Conflict of Interest page to see what other issues you may have. -- Alexf(talk) 16:46, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Nick Autry

Hi Alexf. I'm working to make sure all of the noteworthy people of the recording industry have facts available. One of the names I'm trying to provide information on is singer/songwriter and recording engineer Nick Autry. It seems there was a page with his name that has been deleted some time ago. There may be more names in the future as I'm working alphabetical order. Thanks!

No idea. I am currently out of town working under suboptimal conditions. Please ask at the Tea House or at AN. -- Alexf(talk) 16:48, 10 April 2014 (UTC)

Phaistonian (talk) 11:50, 11 April 2014 (UTC) Regarding deletion on BestPrice.gr

Hello.

I do understand why BestPrice.gr page looked as candidate for deletion.

Thing is, I tried to write it as objectively as I could since this has happened again in the past.

Yes, I am affiliated with the company, but that's not a reason for the page to be deleted, if I am correct.

I would really appreciate if you would let me know what parts of this items need to change (or be removed) in order to have the article published.

Thank you.

ps: There are so many companies and services like ours, some are way younger and way "smaller" than ours that do have a wikipedia item.

Aw man. It would be nice if you added a link to the page as requested. Something like BestPrice.gr would have been helpful, especially as you see in the top of this page I have limited web access, so searching through thousands of deletions to find it is not easy. I did the search for you and found the article was deleted because it did not assertnotability. Specifically it did not meet the Golden Rule. What little "sources" it had were to YouTube and to the Google WebStore. Hardly independent and reliable sources. The article also was a sales pitch for phaistosnetworks. As for the other couple of issues, you mention other websites which are not relevant to the discussion. If you think other pages you refer to are also not notable, please nominate them for deletion, or ask in their talk page. Lastly you do have a conflict of interest. That was not the reason the page was deleted as already stated but it is a concern. Please read the Plain and Simple Conflict of Interest page to see the implications. -- Alexf(talk) 14:28, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Any objections to unblocking Canary Beck, based on the explination and promise made in the unblock request there? Kuru (talk) 01:13, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

OK, based on what he says. Personal name, eh? As long as no spamming goes on. -- Alexf(talk) 01:30, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
As long as there's a Moxie Crimefighter Jillette, I suppose anything is possible. :) Will monitor. Kuru (talk) 02:00, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Hi! Thank you for dealing with the speedy deletion of Idin Samimi Mofakham as G11/G12. As the colour of the link will have told you, it's back with us. As far as I can recall it's closely similar to the previous version, and similarly copied/ close-paraphrased from [2]. Can I ask you to deal with it again (perhaps with some salt?), or should I tag it again and let things take their course? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 16:13, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Obvious copyvio. Promotional too. Deleted and salted for a few days. Let them write something usable if he is notable. -- Alexf(talk) 21:10, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Thank you! I see you left a talk page warning also, so thanks for that too. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:37, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Mova Nanova recreated

Mova Nanova, a page you once deleted, has been recreated. You may want to investigate if it has been expanded sufficiently. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:59, 20 April 2014 (UTC) First of all, the Mova Nanova initiative gains its due notability by the fact that it reflects an important aspect of the cultural life of the present day Belarus touching upon the vulnerable issue of the language situation in the country. • Given that the initiative is voluntary and has gained traction among people of different background, then spread to almost all regional centres, still on a voluntary basis, and is acclaimed and supported by notable cultural personalities and famous people, it demonstrates the shift in the attitude of common people towards the Belarusian language, which image has long been “disfigured”. In this case the article has its value for the English-speaking readers by giving the information on the cultural and linguistic sides of Belarusian life, and at the same time demonstrating the social topicality of the issue. • The article represents the translation of the Belarusian version of Wikipedia and supplements the scarce information about Belarus in its English version, helping the English-speaking readership give a more clear view of the country and explaining some of the questions like “Why isn’t Belarusian the language that you can hear on the streets while in Belarus?” and “What is the situation like these days?”, and etc. • For a long time the Belarusian language has been unjustly considered to be the language of peasants and the illiterate, even in the not too distant 90s of the XXth century. This page demonstrates the issues that the Belarusian-speaking minority (and those aspiring to become Belarusian-speaking) is confronted with, and how these issues are tackled with in the present day context, which is again the reflection of the Belarusian cultural aspects. This point is referenced by the figures of the latest census and UNESCO statistics. • The page also arises the problem of the linguistic disproportion of Russian and Belarusian in the bilingual environment on the territory of Belarus (de jure) that has long held true, at certain historical points going to extremes with adverse anti-Belarusian propaganda and targeted governmental actions aimed at its elimination. The page offers the information for further familiarization with by linking to the page about the Belarusian language. • Finally, the information on this page is backed by the references from independent nation-wide online sources of information and news portals (TUT.BY, Belsat TV, Euroradio.fm). The limited quantity of such references can be explained by the fact that usually negative events are given higher priority on the newsworthy scale and get more media coverage, whereas cultural events are given a smaller share of press attention in flagship publications, and are often reprinted from the leading information sources by other minor news organizations. (Moreover, please, give due attention to the fact that the page deals with the de facto linguistic minority, which reduces the press coverage of this activity even more, which doesn’t lessen its notability though). --Умецкі Максім (talk) 17:11, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

Martyn Andrews

Hello can you please undelete Martyn Andrews page

I can put more references and proof if you need. I had it on Wikipedia for years and I am a well known tv host and journalist. Was there for 4 years.

I am also keen for it not to look like promotion while at the same time showing all the work I've done like others in the same industry.

Best wishes and thank you for your time.

Grabyo page

I recently created the page Grabyo which you deleted before I had a chance to add references. I work across the media and broadcasting industry and have been following the company for some time. I thought a page on Wikipedia was warranted given the extensive coverage it has received from noteworthy sources such as The Financial Times, Daily Telegraph, TechCrunch, The Next Web etc. I would be grateful if you could verify this via a quick web search and permit me to create a fresh page with references, for other wikipedia users to contribute to.

Many thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vcwatcher (talkcontribs) 11:15, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

The article had no references at all to assert notability. If you do not yet have enough information to pass the Golden Rule then you should work it off line or in a sandbox, not post it to mainspace where, as you saw, it cannot stay and will not last long. Before you do a lot of work on this, make sure you read, and understand, the notability requirements for web content. Please remember to sign your pages with four tildes. -- Alexf(talk) 12:02, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

Nazca Lines

Hi Alex, thanks for the note and totally fine you deleted the link.

But calling it 'inappropriate' and treating me like a two-year old who can't read and is somehow trying to violate some policy is completely rude, insulting and inappropriate.

I have over 10 years freelancing, tech work, travel writing, website development and understood the requirements - and that the links are 'nofollow'.

The link I added was good information about what was mentioned in the article, about how to see the lines up close... it was an appropriate link, I happen to be one of the first persons - the first I believe - to write about that option for viewing the lines (more detailed on old South America Living site) after my son and I traveled through there.

I won't post anymore, happy to get some photos up to share as I've used Wiki photos in projects, but am not going to offer any more of my time.

Think twice before you so rudely accuse someone of an action, most professionals will not tolerate it.

Take care, Molly MollyMcHugh (talk) 14:21, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Molly. Please don't take it the wrong way. It is nothing personal but a matter of policy. Having to process hundreds of issues a day, we have to rely on other editors and on template messages to help reduce the workload, and to send a consistent message. Maybe the templated message was not the best, we may agree. I did not remove or undid your action in the Nazca Lines article. Some other editor did. I just notified you about it. We are concerned when conflicts of interest arise. Your link said: by Molly McHugh. That was it and it should not be included by you in an article. -- Alexf(talk) 15:03, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of Trick gaming studios

Hi Alex,

Thanks for contributing to making Wikipedia a better place for all us users.

I understand that's your objective, and that's why you deleted my recently created page for Trick gaming studios.

Although I understand the reasons, I still don't think Trick should be deleted.

My reasoning is that the page is relevant for different reasons:

- There are other pages about video game companies (Nintendo, Blizzard, Square Enix, and much more)

- There are other pages about Argentinean companies (Globant, Hexacta, and much more)

- Trick produces and owns it's own IPs so it's providing new artistic content and creativity.

- Trick runs the Argentinean chapter of IGDA and is relevant to the community by hosting free workshops and sessions about gaming (specially in Argentina).

- Ultimately, I think Wikipedia isn't complete unless a user can find the content that he is interested in finding. I personally use Wikipedia to learn about other video game companies (no matter how big or small) and I think other users do the same.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this far. If there's some content that needs to be fixed or changed, please let me know. It wasn't clear in the deletion if that was the case, it only stated that the page wasn't relevant.

Regards, Leandro

Leandro6758 (talk) 17:27, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Leandro, even though I understand your reasoning I need to tell you why it does not work here as it does not match with Wikipedia's rules.
Lets see:
Having other pages is entirely irrelevant to an article on this business.
The reason if was deleted as explained by the nominating editor and also in the deletion summary was for lack of assertion of notability. The article had no reliable sources. Just a link to their own website and a couple to Facebook. In short, it was removed because it failed to meet the minimums (see the Golden Rule for more on this). -- Alexf(talk) 18:09, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks Alex, so maybe I can add more references to sources that mention the company? If that's all that's needed then it's something easy, I would need it restored (as sandbox perhaps?) so I can add those further references. --Leandro6758 (talk) 18:35, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Hello there!

I think so many people are sending you haiku's because the page previous (or page that led me here) directly states that you will almost always comply with a request if it is written in haiku form?! Which I almost did :) glad I kept reading.

Anywho, you deleted my AuctionZing.com page (link above)! I realize why and I have read your guidelines and have tried to edit it to make it seem less promotional - I am definitely open to any further suggestions as well - but what can I do now for you to reconsider my page? I really would like to get it published soon and am willing to rewrite it completely or whatever else may help my case.

Please let me know, thanks!

Chelsea Crzappel (talk) 17:30, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

The article was completely promotional as you know by now, even to the point of giving address, local phone and office hours! May I remind your this is an encyclopedia not Facebook or the Yellow Pages? Besides the promotional aspect, even if it was re-written in a neutral tone, the article stated this is a new company started this year. The article did not provide much in the form of references and reliable sources to assert notability, specifically under WP:WEB. Unless that can be provided, it wont stay. -- Alexf(talk) 18:38, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi Alex, you removed my link from The family International page just now however I added exactly the same information as other authors above so why is theirs allowed and not mine? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natachatormey (talkcontribs) 12:14, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

No, the page was deleted for not asserting notability for publication in the encyclopedia. We only have notable subjects. Comparing to other pages like the one you indicated, is meaningless. Even then, note that particular page is well sourced. Please do not post entire contents of articles to someone's talk page. -- Alexf(talk) 15:30, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I had contributed an article on Ravi Ravindra. It is my first contribution and I would like to learn why it was deleted. The reference to the copyright infringement in your note is a reference to a bookseller who is selling one of Ravindra's books. What can I do to ensure that the article is accepted. Where will I find the answer to this message? Can you put it on my user page? Thank you. Priscillamurray (talk) 01:16, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

You cannot take text freely from the web. Most text in websites is copyrighted. Unless it clearly says it is in the public domain or under a share-alike license you should not use it. You can paraphrase but not copy, and you should credit the author. See Wikipedia:Copyright violations for more details. For help with your questions and many others please ask at the Teahouse. -- Alexf(talk) 09:21, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Dear Alex. I did not use any text from the web. I am the author of all the material in the article except for one two line quote from a book by Ravindra, which is credited. Priscillamurray (talk) 10:00, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

I re-read the piece. It seems to me it has too many verbatim paragraphs from the book listing at Exotic India which clearly states: "All rights reserved. Copyright 2014 © Exotic India". Please read the Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright page then take it to the Copyright Board where they are more versed in the issue and can answer your questions. -- Alexf(talk) 11:45, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Dear Alex...This is amazing...nearly amusing!! Exotic India has taken the paragraphs from the book Yoga and the Teaching of Krishna. I am the editor and wrote the paragraphs about the biography about Ravindra and the introduction which they have taken and now they are claiming to that they have the copyright of this material!!!! So shall I rewrite?. Thank you for your quick responses. PriscillamurrayPriscillamurray (talk) 22:26, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Late responding but as you see up top, I am busy at work with no time lately. Yes, you should then re-write. If you have an issue with them claiming copyright, then talk to them. -- Alexf(talk) 11:28, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Your improper speedy deletion of Taham has been reverted. You obviously failed to look through the article's history to find where the article on a notable subject had been wholly replaced by what you thought was an A7 target. You need to be more careful when using your tools. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 18:33, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

@Carlossuarez46 Maybe so, but the article clearly said: "for the village in Iran see Taham, Iran" and had an Infobox musical artist for an NN musician of the same name which is the one that was deleted. Now you have two articles Taham and Taham, Iran. -- Alexf(talk) 21:04, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
And they've now be disambiguated. Where, pray tell, does having a possibly ambiguous title give you a right to delete something?? What the article clearly says may be entirely irrelevant, if you look in the history. If someone replaced the article earth with info on his band and a hatline "for the planet see terra", and someone else tagged it as a speedy delete; would you go ahead and delete it? "It clearly says...." You fail to understand that misuse of your admin tools is a serious matter. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 21:16, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

User Page Deletion

Dear Mr. Alexf

This is Fatima Fakih.

I would like to inquire about a page i have created about someone who is not a politician, not a president nor someone famous. He is a well known person in business area in Africa region. I wanted to create a page about him so that people can see his page on your reputable website, Wikipedia.

This is a red link for the page as you sir requested: Fouad chaaban

Please note that I have contacted Mr. Mathew Dann a month ago about this page but unfortunately the page was deleted although i did not neither use any wrong wording nor stating the "I" pronouns since i am talking about a person.

I would really appreciate your reply Sir and would be delighted if you helped me with solving this issue.

Regards, Fatima Fakih (talk) 12:27, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

The page you linked to, which I had deleted, was a redirect from mainspace to user space. That's is not acceptable. You can work on a sandbox off of your user page if you want, then when an article is ready for prime time, you can move it to mainspace or better yet, request it to be checked and moved at AfC. Moving to a non-existent user (userspace) is not valid and will lead to removal. About the person you mention and "I" pronouns, I have no idea what you are talking about. Hello! Deleted article

Hello, Alexf!

I am writing to you on behalf of PR team of Abboom. I made the article and it was deleted because of "which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject". Here is the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abboom. I ask you to take a closer look at our project because it is very important project that will go international. It will be launched on May 29, 2014. Our website is abboom.com. We have already started our PR company and we need information on Wikipedia since it is the main source to get information. I will be appreciated if you approve our article or write what to change and to do to have it proved.

Thank you a lot. Margarita Kamenskaya

Margarita, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place for promotion of you services. Maybe you have us confused with Facebook? We only cover notable subjects. For a web business, the rules are covered in Wikipedia:Notability (web) and for companies at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). If you have been in business for a while, and have been the subject of articles in mainstream media, or won international awards, and have independent, verifiable, reliable sources to assert it, then by all means. If the business as you say "will be launched on May 29, 2014" then don't you think it is a little too early to be recognized and be notable? ALso, you are stating you are the PR Manager for this company. Please read the guidelines on conflicts of interest and especially the Plain and Simple Conflict of Interest Guide to understand the issues involved. -- Alexf(talk) 15:09, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Ferid Extranjero speedy deletion

I'm writing about a recent article that was signed for speedy deletion Ferid El Extranjero. The article had a strong source that showed the artist in an interview that was aired on a National TV in Tunisia. I would wonder why would an editor bother to speedy delete an article that he/she can't even access the reliability of its source. You don't even understand Tunisian Arabic nor did the person who signaled the article for speedy deletion. It is very unfair what you have done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amejel (talkcontribs) 19:59, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Let's take it one at a time. The page you are referring to was Ferid extranjero. That page was correctly slated for speedy deletion. The article your wrote had no independent reliable sources. Two of the "sources" were French Wikipedia pages, one was YouTube and one was to a marketing website (delahojaoficial). Even if that last source was reliable (it isn't), your assertion that they had "done an interview" does nothing to assert notability. I am not saying the individual should not be in Wikipedia, nothing of the sort, just that you have not shown why he should be in an encyclopedia. Please read the linked pages, especial the one about notability for musicians and see what is required. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). -- Alexf(talk) 20:43, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

According to the notability guidelines, one band is notable if it meets at least of the criteria. The one criteria who he (Ferid El Extranjero) meets is the following: Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network.
The artist has been a featured subject in a substantial broadcast segment (Labess Show) and that show is aired by the top channel in Tunisia (Ettounisya channel) in terms of viewership. The following wikipedia article(https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musique_underground_tunisienne) comes on the mention of Ferid El Extranjero as an artist who opposed the overthrown regime. (Cependant, quelques artistes s'inscrivent dans la contestation comme Bendir Man, Lak3y, Ferid El Extranjero, Mounir Troudi, Mos Anif, DJ Costa et Karkadan10.) added by Amejel — Preceding undated comment added 19:45, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Again, you are not producing reliable sources. Wikipedia as a place anyone can edit is not a proper source for this article. His political opinions and actions against the government are irrelevant to his notability here. -- Alexf(talk) 20:36, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

So let me get this straight. An 30 min interview on a major TV station is not a reliable source? Why are you not bothering to watching it or even asking someone to do it for you. Why judge something by its cover? I've found this article from a Tunisian magazine about Ferid El Extranjero. I hope this is not sensational to you. http://www.tuniculture.net/38747/374/179/tunisie-musique-le-rappeur-tunisien-ferid-el-extranjero-ne-a-djebel-lahmar-signe-avec-sony.html Amejel(talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:34, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

KICKSTART_KIDS Speedy Deletion

Hello Alex,

We just had a new page we created get Speedy Deleted because it was a duplicate page.

We either need to remove the old page (listed below) or simply change the old page's title to our organization's current name.

We now operate as KICKSTART KIDS rather than just KICKSTART. Is it possible to either delete the old page or change it's title and URL to KICKSTART_KIDS?

Thank you.

Request to undelete article about Emily Griffith

Hello,

I work for Emily Griffith Technical College in Denver, Colorado and we recently went to review the Wikipedia page on our founder, Emily Griffith, and found that her page has been deleted. I would like to request that it be undeleted, this is the link to the page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emily_Griffith and it says it was deleted because (A7: Article about a real person, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject). Emily Griffith has been recognized by the city of Denver for her contributions to the community countless times over the last 100 years. I am happy to modify the article to reference those significant recognitions if that is the case.

If it's not possible to undelete the page then could would I be able to see a copy of the content that the page had? I would like to write another article about Emily Griffith and her public service but I want to make sure it is significantly different from the page that was deleted.

Thank you in advance for your time.

The contents of the page, all of it was: "Emily Griffith wished to teach adults so she did". That is it. No more, no less. Now you see why it was deleted. If you feel you can do better (and I am sure you can, please go ahead and write, but before change your account as you seem to have a conflict of interest in the subject. -- Alexf(talk) 11:20, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Time to undelete Ghost Town (band)

Hi,

In April 2013 you deleted an article for a new band, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Town_(band) , because it was not yet notable. True, then it wasn't. However, in the past year this band has been much more newsworthy: it was the subject of a long article in the prominent publication Spin ( http://www.spin.com/articles/lets-get-slimed-how-ghost-town-social-mediad-their-way-to-overnight-success/ ), has been covered by the local L.A. entertainment news, and is a headline act in the new international multi-band tour Vans Warped Tour ( http://vanswarpedtour.com/bands/ghost-town ). I would like to resurrect and update this page, if possible. If it can't be resurrected, I can start it anew. Thanks!! Jonah Winters (talk) 17:10, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

The article only named the members of the band and their albums. That's it. No assertion of notability and no independent sources. If you can show it meets the requirements under WP:MUSIC, go ahead an write an article. -- Alexf(talk) 11:23, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

old article

2 years ago i created an article (nothing serious i just wanted to see if i could do it). Turns out I cant. Nothing to do with the site, or me. Time limitations have forces me not to create this page. I only wrote a couple of lines, however these lines i wrote 2 years ago now may cause offence. when I search for cylent beatz in google all the relevant stuff comes back. but with it comes this article i made 2 years ago. I just want it permantly deleted off the web. How do i go about this??

I have no idea how to use this — Preceding unsigned comment added by Daryl.evans2012 (talkcontribs) 07:55, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Prathamesh Parab

I was planning to create an article for the Marathi actor Prathamesh Parab when I got to know that you had deleted a page with similar heading on 10:08, 10 February 2014. Can you please let me know the reason behind the same. I am trying to build a strong database of Marathi movies and actors on Wikipedia Aniruddha (talk) 05:22, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

Alexf can you please reply back on my above question. Aniruddha (talk) 10:44, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

Late responding but as you see in the absence notice up top, I am busy at work with no time lately. Per your question, the article said he is a child actor and listed two movies he worked on. As reference they provided IMDB (not acceptable as a reliable source, and two links to praises and advertisement for the movie, neither one detailing why he is notable (not the movie). -- Alexf(talk) 11:35, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. I will try to get more reliable sources and then plan on creating the article. Aniruddha (talk) 14:45, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

Request for Page Title and School Name Change In Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desouza's_English_Medium_School,_Rourkela Should be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desouza's_School,_Rourkela

Desouza's School shouldn't be referred as Desouza's English Medium School, Rourkela. Instead it Should and is only referred as Desouza's School only.

Because when abbreviated it short name is DEMS ( Deepika English Medium School) which is already a school in Rourkela and mainly referred as "DEMS". It can tend to create a lot of confusion across people trying to find it or try to use it in abbreviated form.

The school is only referred as "Desouza's School" and Rourkela is the town in which its situated. So there the Article Name should be "Desouza's School, Rourkela"

Places where it found: In the School Diary, in the school prospectus, and in the school monogram which is stitched to the school shirt's of the students in this school. Ashish Peter (talk) 20:13, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Then why ask here instead of moving it? -- Alexf(talk) 21:04, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Please undelete Sharples School

Please could you undelete the page Sharples School created yesterday by the username sharplesschool. I had not full read the username policy and as such created it on behalf of my school rather than doing it personally. A number of other schools in our location have wiki pages and we felt that since we were celebrating 40 years this summer we would like our school to have a presence as well. We are a secondary school in England not a company.

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwjcapaldi (talkcontribs) 09:27, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Please could you undelete the page Sharples School which was created yesterday. The page refers to a secondary school in Bolton, England and was created with an account which broke username rules. Other schools in the area have a page but Sharples does not and it celebrates 40 years this summer. --Mwjcapaldi (talk) 09:36, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

The page was promotional, written by the school themselves. It had nothing but one sentence with no references whatsoever. If you have sources, then go ahead and write an article. There is nothing in the original worth restoring other than promotion. Note that Just because other similar pages exist is not a reason to have a page. Also, if you have a conflict of interest please declare it and be aware of the issues involved. -- Alexf(talk) 10:11, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

A3?

Hallo, I see you deleted Devin West as A3. It had no text, just an infobox, and I nominated it for deletion as A7, no credible assertion of importance or significance. My reading of the A3 criterion is that an article with an informative infobox is not A3-able. What do you think? (It appears to be an autobiography from a non-notable wannabe, and I'm certainly not asking you to undelete it, just not sure it fits the criterion you used). PamD 12:06, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Maybe right. The article was empty in any case with no content. It might be semantics but it couldn't stay the way it was. If and when they want to write it and have sources to assert notability, then ok. -- Alexf(talk) 12:23, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

High Alex, working on Tüfekçi village and disambiguation pages, I saw that to my surprise there was no "Nida Tüfekçi" article in En:WP. Then I began to write one and I noticed that in fact there was a Nida Tüfekçi article (I had not seen it before) and that you recently deleted it per A7. I have no clue to how that article was, so I would like to try to see if I may make it better, as the person was an important folk singer in Turkey and should be notable. Will you kindly open a working page for me with the text that was here before so I may work on it? Thank you very much and best regards. --Why should I have a User Name? (talk) 09:35, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

The article had only two sentences:
Mehmet Nidâ Tüfekçi (born March 1, 1929, Akdağmadeni – September 18, 1993, Istanbul) was a Turkish folk singer.
Active in music for decade, he died after a heart attack.
That was it. -- Alexf(talk) 11:54, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Daniel Nemani

Daniel Nemani

Dear Alexf,

Thank you for bringing to my attention about the issues my article has with the page named - 'Daniel Nemani'.

I am writing to explain the notability issue associated with the 'Daniel Nemani' article in the hopes of having this article unblocked :)

Here are some external/3rd party sources that I hope will verify 'Daniel Nemani's' notability as a weightlifter:

1. New Zealand Herald http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10679018

2. 2013 Pacific Mini-Games http://www.wf2013.wf/index.php/en/sports-results/thursday-5-sept

3. Commonwealth Games 2010: Weightlifting results http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/commonwealth_games/delhi_2010/9049731.stm

4. 2011 Arafura Games: Weightlifting Results http://www.foxsportspulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=6-8444-0-0-0&a=RESULTS&rP=15

5. Tagata Pasifika: Commonwealth Games Profile - Danny Nemani http://tvnz.co.nz/tagata-pasifika/commonwealth-games-profile-danny-nemani-6012137

I hope this is sufficient enough external/third party sources to allow for the 'Daniel Nemani' article to be re-instated. Many thanks for your time here.

Kindest RegardsDanomyte13 (talk) 21:58, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

The article had none of these. In fact, it had no reliable references at all. I am not saying the subject meets the requirements for asserting notability, but having any of these would have stopped a speedy deletion A7 and gone for a more thorough examination by the community. So what you want want to do? The article was very basic, and as said, not referenced. Do you want it userfied? Or you can just write it properly from start. -- Alexf(talk) 00:10, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Busindia Deletion

Dear Alex

Thank you for putting me out of the misery of creating a Haiku. I, like most others, had gotten overly optimistic about this message on your user page :)

"If you request restoration in Haiku form, I'll probably comply no matter what."

I am told to have made the rookie mistake of sounding promotional when writing about Busindia. I tried my best to remove all superfluous and unverifiable rhetoric. I was using a competitor page for similar service (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redbus.in) as a reference for acceptability.

I did put in links to respected publications in India including one PR release by a Government of India body (http://pib.nic.in/newsite/erelease.aspx?relid=100355).

Can you please help me in understanding what parts are still dubious?

Best leelavati81 Leelavati81 (talk) 06:56, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

You did not put a link to the article as requested. Considering there are thousands of deletions daily, it is a little more difficult to search unless you point to it as asked: Busindia. That is what it looks like. Not too difficult, is it? After searching, I did read the article again. It is promotional, mentioning the URL early and often, giving a detailed account of what versions of OS it runs in, all relevant to a promotional brochure or a webpage, not an encyclopedia. Even if it was not promotional it would have been tagged for deletion as not having asserted notability. Links to PR releases don't do it. -- Alexf(talk) 09:37, 7 July 2014 (UTC)

Biblionef

Hi Alex, I think you might have jumped the gun in deleting the Biblionef article yesterday. The article was written as part of the GLAM event Western Cape Libraries edit-a-thon and what was deleted was only the first iteration of that article. It was deleted before the first time editors taking part in the edit-a-thon had a chance to add supporting references to the article. I would like to know if there is any way to roll back the deletion or if it will be necessary to re-create the article from scratch? Thanks,--Discott (talk) 08:45, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

Ok. I take your word. Restored. They better improve it soon or it will be gone again by some other editor. It is definitely not ready for prime time and it should not be worked on mainspace but in a subpage until ready. -- Alexf(talk) 11:22, 13 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Alex, I knew that their first few edits would likely not be of very high quality as they are still learning how to add references in Wikipedia. Its just that I was expecting the deletion process to be much slower and not as fast as within 12 hours of the page's creation but a couple of days. Cheers,--Discott (talk) 14:19, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

As requested in the text, please supply a link and please start a new message in a separate section. Putting it inside somebody else's message is not considerate and it gets lost in the shuffle. I do not know what "send it to me in the message" means. It yo mean email, that is out of the question. Emails are private. All communications in Wikipedia are public record except for personally identifiable items that should remain private. If you mean to userfy it, place state the link and request it. With the thousands of message deleted daily, at this late hour I do not have the time to do the search for you. That is why a simple request is made at the top of the page to supply a red link. -- Alexf(talk) 00:58, 15 July 2014 (UTC)

Sistema Firjan

This user has requested a new username that is acceptable. He does, however, say he wants to continue editing the articles he has been editing as they are merely translations of articles he's already written for the Portuguese Wikipedia, where (based on running his user talk page through Google Translate) he seems to be in good standing. What do you think? Daniel Case (talk) 17:23, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

To be honest, not too happy with it. The old username "Sistema Firjan" (Firjan System) is the same he has in Portuguese. I do read fluent Portuguese and checked his originals when he made the translations. Although the new proposed name "Luis at ..." is acceptable, his continued COI is suspect. The original articles in PT and the ones in EN.WP reek of spam to me as he keeps talking about how his Federation (FIRJAN) is involved at the State and National level in Brazil on this and that. Clear COI. It is up to you. I am not opposing it, but I think he is stretching the COI issue and should be aware of it in EN.WP (which may differ from his understanding of it in PT.WP). -- Alexf(talk) 18:05, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

BEIGE (Retailer) - request for speedy undeletion of speedy deletion

re: This page should not be speedily deleted because... JonathanFriedmanM (talk) 11:22, 19 July 2014 (UTC)

Here is my case. I've tried to get you a red a link...but there's no article to link to any more.

BEIGE (Retailer) is one of the last of its breed of retailer in the UK. As a niche UK retail category, "Independent plus size retailers" in the UK virtually disappeared during the 2007-2013 global financial recession.

Stepping back up the food chain, plus size brand manufacturer representation in Europe (Dusseldorf was once the global economic hub for plus size independents) is now tiny fraction of its economic former size. As a indicator of the changing shape of the market (pls excuse the pun) the global conference and exhibition for the sector (known as CPD) struggled on for years but finally succumbed to the downturn and closed in 2012. (in its heyday, CPD ran for decades, was attended by 20,000+ across 17 exhibition halls)

There were once 100+ retail outlets in this niche category in the UK. Now there are less than 10. There is no indication that the trend will reverse.

As a historical record of the UK retail niche sectors, I think there is merit in retaining some record of the few players left and that this retail category once existed.

I've been in the sector for 10 years...I'll keep going for maybe another 10 years... by which time maybe the final 10 will go...and this tiny UK niche retail sector employing maybe 100 people in the UK will be history and the ONLY factual record that we (and it) ever existed will be Wiki.

IMO, tracking the windswept footsteps on less traveled paths of humanity is why humanity needs Wiki.

PS. I was planning to add a list of all extinct and current manufacturing brands that we used to carry...with a description of their design "signature" as last resting place for their existence. If this also appears to be to promotional for Wiki, let me know...and save me the time in doing needless work

I hope that you can reinstate the record of our existence......there are not many of us left!

Kind regards

Jonathan, Vanjagenije has been kind enough to leave you the red link. You mentioned you couldn't because the article was not there anymore. That is what a red link is, and why it is red. I checked it again and the article did not have any reference or reliable source whatsoever. The only external source was to the company's own website which is hardly neutral. When you talk of "Wiki" I am assuming you meant Wikipedia, not just any wiki (there are several thousands out there). If you meant Wikipedia, maybe you misunderstand us. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and only as articles on notable subjects. I am not saying the company is not notable, I've no idea as you have not shown it. I am saying that Wikipedia is not as you put it for "a historical record of the UK retail niche sectors". If the niche company has a right to be in Wikipedia, you need to do better than that. -- Alexf(talk) 00:52, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Whatskiping

Hi There

I created the article for whatskiping. I see you have deleted it based on assumption that it was created for advertising purposes. Please understand that I am not by any means trying to promote or advertise the page. This is just for people around the world to know that in South Africa we are also trying to catch up in the "tech world" and are creating our own local social networks to try and compete on an international level. This is also to try and boost the morale to our fellow African brothers and sisters to show that "it is possible" and by working together, even greater things can come out of 3rd world countries. I will really appreciate it if you could un delete the page.

Thanking you in advance, Don Mapholoba (talk) 11:25, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Don, a red link to Whatskiping as requested would have been nice and saved time in searching. The article was removed because it was advertising. "This is just for people around the world to know that in South Africa we are also trying..." is promotion. Showing as the only link its own website and advertising their presence in Facebook is, you got it: advertising. Besides the article was for an entity that does not show it notability, so even after passing through the advertising language, it still could not stay without asserting notability. This is done by means of reliable sources of which there weren't any. If you are a new editor, you may want to read the Five pillars of Wikipedia to understand how this works. -- Alexf(talk) 11:39, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Unblock of Aset&Asir

A user that you blocked, Aset&Asir (talk · contribs), has proposed a new name that seems fine. As you used the "username is the only reason" template, I've unblocked him/her. If you see an error on my part, feel free to revert. Kuru (talk) 20:37, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

ok. -- Alexf(talk) 20:42, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi,

Can you please restore "Bangalore Queer Pride March" page, if you are satisfied with my reasoning.

This is about an event for sure, but it is of public importance. A lot of visitors and residents of Banglore, especially LGBT and their friends search for "Bangalore Queer Pride March" on web, to know when it happens, what are the different events in involved etc, so that they can participate. This is for encyclopaedic information, not for any advertisements or promotion. They don't charge to participate in this event.

Please "un-delete" the page asap.

Thanks --SriniBlr (talk) 18:03, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

The article was removed for not showing notability as explained in the deletion notice. It had no reliable sources whatsoever. Wikipedia only accepts notable subjects, properly sourced. Your comments above indicate you may be misunderstanding what we are about. Wikipedia is not a travel guide. If the city wants to have events advertised it should do so in its own website. Potential visitors should not go to Wikipedia to "know when it happens and what are the different events involved...". That would be advertising. Also please read the notice above the edit page. You did not start a new section as required, mixing the text with whatever was there previously and you did not provide a link to the article, also required. I added both for you but you should do whenever you add requests to talk pages. -- Alexf(talk) 18:18, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Got it. Thanks. I will re-create according to the guidelines --SriniBlr (talk) 14:48, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Read the notability requirements under WP:MUSIC. Also read the posting etiquette requested at the top of the edit page, and next time please provide a link to the article in question and sign your posts in Talk Pages. If you come to ask for a request, the least you can do is to be polite, and comply with the instructions provided as they are there for a reason. Thank you for your attention. -- Alexf(talk) 01:58, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

I would like to work with you regarding my deleted post

Dear Alex,

I would like to work with you on the proper formatting or whichever guidelines I failed to follow in regard to my post "One Gift". One Gift does not accept tithing or donations, nor is it dramatic or contentious so I don't foresee it making any headlines. One Gift is a quiet but quickly spreading simple religion which has a confirmed volunteer membership of 348,109 which means it could have millions of members by now? Like your other entries I believe this is a very valuable entry and I believe people would be happy if they could look up "One Gift" in Wikipedia, their favorite online encyclopedia.

Thank You for your time!

Kedves-V (talk) 02:13, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

It is rather simple: Articles require significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the topic. Yours had none. I also see that instead of asking you repeatedly recreated it and as so it was removed several times. That is not the way to start as an editor. When you make a mistake, the proper way to deal with it is to stop and ask. You will be pointed to the documentation, rules and regulations, then you understand them or ask some more until you do. I would suggest you read the linked pages then ask questions at the Tea House which is staffed by volunteers willing to help. Also please read the posting etiquette requested at the top of the edit page, and next time please provide a link to the article in question. It makes it way easier to search. -- Alexf(talk) 10:44, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Thank You so much for taking time to look at my page. I have tried to make necessary edits. Please go through the newly edited content.

Please understand that Wikipedia is not a place for advertising or promotion. Although we do not explain it as well as we should to new users at the time of joining, Wikipedia is not a site like Facebook for people to write about themselves, for reasons explained at Wikipedia is not about YOU and Wikipedia:Autobiography. It is a project to build an encyclopaedia and, in order to maintain a neutral point of view, users are strongly discouraged from editing on any subject on which they have a conflict of interest. Please note that Wikipedia is not the place to post your resume or CV. Also please read the posting etiquette requested at the top of the edit page, and next time please provide a link to the article in question and sign your posts in Talk Pages. -- Alexf(talk) 10:44, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

My article under the name "Ashwath Nanganathan" was deleted.

The reason quoted for deletion was "A7. No indication of importance". Here are some facts about the person whom the article was about.

1) Interview by press on his debut as music director in South Indian movie

2) His profile as music director is listed under a website

The Deletion of What So Not article.

I'd like an explanation as to why it was deleted when everything was referenced and enough evidence was given. Idensai (talk) 00:49, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

If you do a simple Google search you'll understand why they deserve their own article.

The article did not assert notability under WP:MUSIC, besides being a promotional piece. -- Alexf(talk) 01:08, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

The Side Projects section of Flume's article is outdated and has been for some time. However instead of editing the section I think it would be best to remove it from the Flume page and create a dedicated article for What So Not. Harley and Chris have been producing more and more tracks recently and have started collaborations with other artists such as Skrillex and Dillon Francis. Their discography is growing and I think having an article would be a good way of keeping up with their releases. They are signed to Skrillex's label OWSLA and are currently supporting him on his 2014 Mothership Tour. They have played some of the world's biggest music festivals: Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas 2014, Electric Daisy Carnival Mexico 2014, Electric Forest Festival 2014, Field Day 2014, Groovin the Moo 2014, Lightning in a Bottle 2014, Snowball Music Festival 2014, Watershed 2014, What the Festival 2014, Laneway Festival 2013, Stereosonic 2013, Splendour in the Grass Festival 2013. - Idensai (talk) 01:38, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

As for the Wikipedia rules about "reliable sources": I don't conform to that, artists don't give official statements anymore, the way things are documented has changed and the media has changed since social media is the new/quickest/easiest way of artists exchanging information to their fans and the press. Most news sites don't cover the smaller artists and a lot of what they say would usually have gone unnoticed but posts on Facebook and Twitter have made it easier to keep track of them such as new songs and collaborations. I think you're reading too much into the rules of Wikipedia that were written before most of the social media sites were even around leaving them outdated. Nearly all of the World's news programmes and media channels have their own pages on these social networking sites, use footage captured and uploaded to YouTube as evidence and even highlight tweets by people that they didn't manage to get an interview with. If someone says something about someone with nothing to back it up then there's no reason to believe what they are saying is true. But if you give evidence that documents and supports their claim (text, video or audio) then that is a VALID source of information and proof that it is true. I've been thanked for my work on unreleased sections since people find it's a good source of information. Everything I've ever posted has been given a referenced source IE official Twitter account tweets from artists, YouTube video taken live from a gig (dated), news articles with interviews ETC. I think articles like these should be left to the people and fans who are most passionate about the artists and their music instead of the back seat moderators of Wikipedia. Idensai (talk) 02:34, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Comment: I believe their song "Jaguar" was featured regularly on BBC Radio 1Xtra (passing notability policy) and at least four more of their songs have been played in full on the station. However, their songs don't appear to have charted anywhere in the world. --DJUnBalanced 07:37, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
The reliable sources requirement is policy. If you do not agree this is not the place to discuss it. You can ask at the Teahouse among other places why that is the way it is and how to work to change it. (Hint: consensus). -- Alexf(talk) 00:19, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Dear Alexf, The Icelandic Energy Portal is an independent organization which is a major source about the Icelandic energy sector. It is frequently used by people looking for information about the sector and ranks high on search engines like Google. Thus, I believe it fully deserves to have a page on Wikipedia, just as for example The_Oil_Drum. Kindly allow me to ask you to consider to restore the page (Icelandic Energy Portal). Yours sincerely, Livingstone (talk) 23:10, 27 July 2014 (UTC) Livingstone PS: As this is my first letter of this kind, I am not quite sure what is meant by signing the post with four tildes, but hope the signature above is sufficient.

I am not saying the organization is not notable, just that it was not shown to be with sources. We do not go by pointing to other articles, but you would note that the one you pointed to has references.
The sig is fine. -- Alexf(talk) 00:15, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, would you undelete this please? This list was produced as a result of an article split (by a now retired user) and the content needs to be retained. The Whispering Wind (talk) 01:40, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Did not know. Fixed. -- Alexf(talk) 12:16, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Many thanks! :-) The Whispering Wind (talk) 12:54, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I'm not really clear why Behat (Computer Science) was deleted. You quoted A7 (Wikipedia:CSD#A7) as the reason but after reading that section. I fail to see the reason why it was deleted. It would seem to me a computer technology that is currently in use would represent a valid article on Wikipedia. I am not an expert on the topic but spent time creating a framework for someone who is to add to it. Paullb (talk) 03:28, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Simply because it had no independent reliable sources at all. Just writing a one sentence "article" and posting a link to its website does not confer notability and it looks like advertising. -- Alexf(talk) 12:16, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

*********PLEASE REPLY*******************************************************My article under the name "Ashwath Nanganathan" was deleted

Can you please reply to my questions posted under "My article under the name "Ashwath Nanganathan" was deleted" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.245.59.15 (talk) 14:19, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

No need to shout or be nasty about it. If you had left a link to the article as requested it would have been easier. If you do not know how, please read the instructions for posting, at the top of the edit page here. As there are hundreds and sometimes thousands of deletions a day, it really helps if you do your part. I did your search for you. The article you mention is at Ashwath Naganathan (not the way you spelled it). It had no independent reliable sources at all. It said he is a new music director with a film released on July 11, 2014. Hardly enough time to get info, which the writer did not place in the article anyway. The writer was User talk:IhtrakMM. S/he had ample notice in the talk page indicating the article was subject to deletion and what to do about it, but nothing was done then, so it was deleted. It is a simple case. If you feel you can do better, and assert notability please go ahead write it. -- Alexf(talk) 14:33, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
