Robot Edit
[edit]The edit on Colin Campbell Ferrie produced some strange results on an info box. Could you take a look? Thanks in advance! Stormbay 17:52, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi -- your stub edit on If (magazine) seems wrong to me; can you take a look and let me know if it's accurate? If was essentially a science fiction magazine, and had nothing to do with art, though some of the magazine cover art has become moderately well known within the sf art field. Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks. Mike Christie 18:47, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Also, Space Science Fiction has been re-stubbed; also looks wrong. Can you let me know whether this is an error or not? I'll post a note on the owner talk page too. Mike Christie 19:02, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Also Uncanny Tales looks wrong, as above. Mike Christie 19:14, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Hello, Please check the HUMO article. I wouldn't call Humo an art magazine. It has a section on music (about one third of the magazine). Another third goes to radio and tv program schedules, and one third is general journalism. --LucVerhelst 19:11, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Bio stubs
[edit]This bot made multiple incorrect re-stubbings based on a rather way-too-broad formula. David Donohue and Dorsey Schroeder should not be under NASCAR bio stub. Among many, many others. I suggest that you adjust the bot before running it again. FCYTravis 04:13, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've noticed some problems with what the bot has done in Category:Canadian politicians. It seems to have moved some non-Quebec politicians into Quebec. --Big_Iron 21:31, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Geography Lessons
[edit]So this bot decided to annex Las Vegas into California. I made 25 reversions (and saw a few others already done) of the US-struct-stub --> California-struct-stub changes made between 16:39 & 17:01 on 19 August 2006. Better watch the geography based changes. -- Jagged 03:32, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Organic compound stubs
[edit]I just wanted to say thanks for sorting many of the organic compound stubs into new sub categories and to let you know that I've reverted a bunch that have been miscategorized. --Ed (Edgar181) 13:16, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
- Cycloartenol has been miscategorized by this bot. I changed the stub category from organic-compound-stub to ester-stub. --Kupirijo 07:36, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Inaccurate Stub Re-tagging
[edit]Your bot inaccurately re-stubbed the Frederick C. Billard from the U.S. military bio-stub tag to the U.S. Navy bio-stub. In fact, Frederick C. Billard is a former U.S. Coast Guard Commandant. I have already reverted back to the previous edit. --TommyBoy 18:22, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Uncategorised tags
[edit]I'm coming across a lot of your {{Uncategorised}} tags, and I appreciate the work you're doing. However, if you check the template page, you'll see that generally they get added at the bottom of the article instead of the top. This allows the categorizer to do all work in the article in a single place (not having to go to the top and delete the tag and then to the bottom to add the categories). Is there any way you could change your bot code to place them at the bottom?
~ BigrTex 23:46, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- List of people by name: Schw is the second time i recall an UnCat Cat'n on an LoPbN-tree page. I don't know if this quirk is worth programming bots around, but each of these pages "inherits" a Cat from a template (actually, during the current transition, either a single specific template, or any of a class of about 170 of them that is recognizable by an RE) that is used with utter rigidity on each of them. This has the side effect that no Cat tag can be found in the tree page's markup. If you wanted to have yr bot recognize all calls to {{Lopbn p}} as obviating an explicit Cat tag, it would be no biggie for me to stop being so mañana about converting all the old ones to the new markups that use it instead of the old diverse Tls. (But in contrast, i think that converting to other than transcluded Cat tags would be a substantially bad idea, for reasons more persuasive than the effort of converting all 900+ existing pages.)

{{previouslycategorised}}
[edit]Hi, this tag a mixed blessing. It pointed out a deletion that I had missed on Plotter, but on Spencer John Derry it was added because {{linkless}} and {{sources}} were removed. In the later case, the article had not previously been in a meaningful category, and your box inappropriately tagged the article, and as a result I dug through the history unnecessarily. Ideally in this case, your bot would add {{uncategorised}} instead. If this cant be fixed easily, consider altering the wording of the {{previouslycategorised}} box to indicate that the cause may be that a tag was recently removed. John Vandenberg 00:25, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Stub removal
[edit]- When stubs are removed, their categories are also deleted. If this could be detected, a more specific tag could be added, or the old categories couuld be added back as an automated task.

previously categorized?
[edit]What is the meaning of the "previously categorized" tag? It seems to say "This article was previously in some category(s) but at some point they were removed", but (1) how often does that actually happen and (2) at least in the first instance that I checked, the article had never been attached to a category. I don't get why this tag is being used instead of just "uncategorized". Herostratus 16:54, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article List of Alabama Metropolitan Areas, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Aquarius Festival categorisation.
[edit]Yr robot has categorised the Aquarius festival as a "music festival", where it was previously categorised as a "festival". To limit it a music festival is incorrect. It was more than just a music festival, it was a lifestyle-festival. Music was only part of what it was about, and very little of that was mainstream. That simplified category belittles the event. I will try to find an appropriate category. Seasalt 23:46, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Have added cultural festival, but festival would be more appropriate than any of the sub-categories available. Why can it not remain "festival"? What was the point of the change? Seasalt 00:01, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
Is it correct with two sub-cats of the one cat, or should there just be the one? (i added cultural festival) A counter cultural or alternative festival category could cover pagans, neopagans, and this? Seasalt 00:48, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Regarding the "stubbing" feature
[edit]Firstly, I love a good bot, going out there and performing tasks...With a little improvement, this might become as important as the famed AntiVandalBot. The "stubbing" feature (going out and finding unmarked stubs and marking them as stubs) is quite handy, but I, as a "stub-sorter" have a bit of difficulty keeping up with it... In the past hour, I have sorted over 150 people stubs out of the general stub category, almost all from your bot... I finish 50, and hit refresh, what do I see? 50 more! Can be a bit frustrating, but its just doing its job... Would be nice if it could sort the stubs though...--Vox Rationis 02:03, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Don't tag disambiguation pages as stubs
[edit]I notice that this bot has tagged some disambiguation pages as stubs. A short disambiguation page does not generally require expansion, so please don't tag any page with "disambiguation" in the page title as a stub. Thanks. --Metropolitan90 05:16, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- I second that but I'm not sure how your going to get the bot to work out it is a disambiguation page, but identifying phrases like could mean the would reduce them. One example was James carr (which I'm about to merge for incorrect capitalisation). Ksbrowntalk 10:13, 9 February 2007 (UTC) (Another good example os HRB whichh I have just corrected. Automated message to bot owners
[edit]As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:
Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.
Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 23:58, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Tuscan painters
[edit]Hi there, this is a handy bot. One thought for you: If the pre-existing categorization includes Category: Italian painters as per Giovanni da Milano, there is a more specific stub to use than {{Italy-artist-stub}}. It's {{Italy-painter-stub}}. I figure if you're going to both doing stub sorting, might as well get the most accurate stub possible, right? Keep up the good work. Planetneutral 00:14, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Checking for vandalism
[edit]I don't know if this has been asked before, but would it be possible for Alaibot to check whether an article has recently had its sub tag (and probably ctegories) remove recently, rather than just tagging them as stubs? I have come across several instances recently, where Alaibot has marked an article as a stub, where a revert of the last editor would also have solved the problem, and for less effort (e.g. stub after vandal; stub after vandal; stub after vandal). It would be a significant reduction of work for the stub-sorters if this sort of thing could be dealt with automatically. --Stemonitis 10:15, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- I would like to reiterate the same idea. Your bot tagged a vandalized page which was not reverted until today (nearly two months later). Subsequent editors did not even catch on to the issue (for whatever reason). At the very least place a note for editors to check if the previous edit was not vandalism. Preferably, following Stemonitis' advice wouldd be best. Thank you! --Stux 16:24, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not put "uncategorized" tags on the subpages of List of InuYasha chapters as you did with List of InuYasha chapters/Vol11to15. Vâlcea County stubs
[edit]For some reason you have replaced the stubs for some of the Rivers in Romania with the Vâlcea County stub. I don't think this is a very inspired move. The river articles are part of the Wikipedia River Project and the main category is the classification of rivers by country. As your change affects only some of the rivers, i.e. the rivers of Vâlcea County, the result is lacking homogeneity. All other river stubs have the indicator for Stub in Romania (or in other country) except for Vâlcea County. Putting the emphasis on a small county in Romania, which probably very few people in the English speaking community have even heard about makes it more difficult understand. It would be equally absurd to start naming stubs after Missoula County or even Transylvania county or Cowra Shire, which probably nobody in Romania have ever heard about. Please revert to the status quo ante. Afil 18:51, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Bistriţa County Stubs
[edit]I found the same problem with Bistriţa County. Please revert to previous situation. Recorrecting manually all these changes takes a very long time. The changes made are not acceptable. They should previously be discussed with the River Project team. Afil 22:37, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

About the stubs (yet again, I realize)
[edit]Being a stub sorter myself, it's very difficult to keep up with this bot, and the list of stubs is rapidly growing more and more unmanageable. Many people have already left this wikiproject because of the sheer unmanageability, and I feel that your bot is only making it worse. Would it be possible to either combine it with a form of stubsense, or just remove the stub feature for a while until we can get the backlog of [[Category: Stubs]] cleared up? -=- Xhin -=- 02:05, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'd agree that categorisation as stube doesn't always help. Some topic headings are always going to be stubs and no more. What is needed in these cases is sensitive redirection - through hyperlinks - to a range of other pages that are relevant. This is almmost as difficult a task as writing articles themselves.Davy p 02:29, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Incorrect categorization of music singles
[edit]It has added the category Category:Albums without a by-year category to several pages about music singles that aren't considered as albums.[1] These articles have already been correctly tagged with Category:YEAR singles. ☆CharlesNguyễn 04:30, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- The articles are stubbed as "album-related", but are articles of singles since there is no "Japanese single stub". Thanks for notifying me of that though so I can six the stub templates on those articles. ☆CharlesNguyễn 22:23, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Nevermind, I found the correct stub template. Sorry about that. ☆CharlesNguyễn 22:46, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
EPs and by-year categories
[edit]This seems wrong, as the article had Category:1998 EPs. --PEJL 16:39, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- I've actually fixed all current singles in Category:Albums without a by-year category which used album stubs, so just excluding
Category:year albums
andCategory:year EPs
should be enough.
- My change to {{WPSS-cat}} made it only use talk colors on talk pages as opposed to always. I don't understand the problem, are you saying that it should use talk colors on non-talk pages? --PEJL 20:51, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Fatimah Adams for Afd
[edit]I wanted to let you know that now BlueAzure has been skipping boards and placing multiple tags on a group of articles, one of which you helped to edit. The Fatimah Adams article is among that group affected and is now facing Afd. If you have anything to add, I think it is important to disallow a single editor from continuing this kind of harassment.HollywoodFan1 (talk) 19:03, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Subpage tagging
[edit]Hi, your bot just tagged Emergency medical responder levels by state/draft. That page is actually a future design that's being developed for the main page. Is there any way to either have a page opt out of your bot or have your bot not tag subpages?
Thanks, JPINFV (talk) 04:07, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Stub categories
[edit]Why is the bot changing the {{protein-stub}} category of protein articles into {{gene-stub}}? This is really annoying! Regards, — Tirk·fl “…” 09:44, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- As I said before, the bot is changing the stub-category of protein articles into those of gene articles, which is annoying to revert. — Tirk·fl “…” 07:35, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- There are many gene/protein article stubs that I initially labeled protein stubs that have been re-categorized has gene stubs. There are two problems with this re-categorized. First, most of these articles have more detail about the structure and function of the protein than the gene. Second, several of the articles such as RAR-related orphan receptor contain information about a family of proteins, each encoded by a different gene, usually on different chromosomes. The bot stub catagorization assigns the genetics stub to one gene, whereas the protein family is resides on different genes. For these two reasons, I believe the original protein stub categorization is preferable to the gene categorization. Hence I would appreciate if your bot would stop this protein -> gene re-categorization. Cheers. Boghog2 (talk) 23:57, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Edge STP, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Dgtsyb (talk) 06:34, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

The article Adrian Harpham has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Does not meet notability guidelines and is a autobiography
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.XinJeisan (talk) 07:14, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Origins of the "Focus stacking" article
[edit]I intend to improve the "Focus stacking" article. To do this I would like some background, if you can remember, where you found information for the original writeup of the article. Anything you can remember could be helpful. Also, I have a few questions...
- Do you know of, or where I might find, reliable secondary sources that reference primary sources?
- What other names for this topic were considered?
- Why was it written as a "digital" process even though the title is more general?
I don't wish to burden you with a lot of work, so whatever you can recall would be helpful.
Thank you for your efforts.
