Jericho
Thanks for the link Al Ameer son. I'll read it over now and see what can be done with it. I've just added a bunch of stuff, but Jericho's history never ends and I'm barely doing it justice right now. It will take weeks I think. Tiamuttalk 18:49, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- The link doesn't let me see anything inside the book though. Pity. Tiamuttalk 18:51, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

BorgQueen (talk) 02:11, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi, that sounds definitely interesting, but I am unable to access the link you sent me, so I do not know how much is there. On the other hand, I have now all the three books mentioned under "further reading" (that is; the two Nasser-books, and the Shihab-book.) But none of them have much about history, unfortunately. Cheers, Huldra (talk) 20:25, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, I see that you uploaded a wonderful David Roberts print for the Jacobs´well article, great!! So many writers who came later imitated/copied David Roberts; I just uploaded a page from Thomson [1], 1859, who doesn´t say where he took the picture from.... (the word "copy-right" wasn´t really invented, back then, me think..) ..but it is rather obvious, isn´t it?
- Anyway, I added the Jacobs´well picture to the Roberts page at the commons: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/David_Roberts ...and then I went looking at the source (Lib. of Congress.) for more pictures of him...and they have lots!! Including that 1839-picture I have been hunting for for some time of "Beit Jebrin" (Item 193 of 434 ). I searched for David Roberts, and got 434 entries, 22 pages. Basically, it is the first 14 pages which has any interst. Now, many of those pictures are from Egypt, but there are also *a lot* from Palestine, including Hebron, Bethany, Jenin, a wondeful picture of the Mosque of Omar, and the original "Entrance to Nablous" (I uploaded just a later print from a book to the Nablus-article).
- Now, from what I understand, we can use these pictures?? Unfortunately, I have no idea as to how to download them or to edit them...in other words: it would be wonderful if you continued the work you started with the download of the Jacobs´well -picture..hint, hint!! Cheers, Huldra (talk) 00:55, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the Beit Jibrin-picture! I really love these old David Roberts-prints.
- Also, have you seen Ermete Pierotti (1864): Customs and Traditions of Palestine: Illustrating the Manners of the Ancient Hebrews? It´s a bit strange...trying to find "Hebrew" (meaning Biblical times) customs in/among the common people of Palestine ca. 1860. But it has some observations about "food and cookery" which might interest you [2]. Take care, and btw: great job you have done on Lajjun, & I will of course tell you if I come across a picture, cheers, Huldra (talk) 22:57, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

PS How do I go about or who do I complain to about NoCal100 violating the 3RR rule on Banias?..Ashley kennedy3 (talk) 17:57, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Don't you find it amazing that pro-Palestinian editors haven't got a clue how to go about complaining or wiki lawyering...and yet the pro-Israeli crowd know the system by heart? Re: Ali
Salam Alaykum, it's the second time that the article is nominated. As you mentioned that part needs citation. However I haven't added it and I don't have good source which represents Sunni's view. I'll be glad if you help me with it. In addition the article should be cleaned up. Almost all of the guys whom I asked to do so since last year hadn't enough energy to finish the work. Can you please check it. I suggest starting from Caliphate section.--Seyyed(t-c) 05:31, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Sumayriyya Aquifer.JPG
Please note that the structure in the image is an aqueduct, not an aquifer. I've noted this on its File talk page, particularly that I don't know whether (nor how) that file might require or otherwise benefit by a rename with the corrected term. I've also made the change in the Al-Sumayriyya infobox. -- Deborahjay (talk) 21:13, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Re: Ali: Clarification
You can read Madlong's book. He describes is precisely. However as I remember, it takes three days. First Ali, Talha and Zubayr refused, then people rushed to Ali and urged him to accept.
Al-Khalisa, Safad district
Depopulated 1948 village Al-Khalisa is presently only a redir. to Kiryat Shmona. However, if I´m not wrong, there are pictures of the village mosque on the commons: [3] [4]...so perhaps this deserves an article of its own, in the near future? Cheers, Huldra (talk) 05:42, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- It would be great if you started an article about the place. Benvenisti (2002), writes about al-Khalsa (p. 127, 128, 130, 185-86, 291). Unfortunately, not all of this is on the net, see Sacred Landscape. However, I have the book, I find especially interesting (in view of the pictures) p.291: "The mosque of al-Khalsa, one of the few structures that remain of that Galilee Arab village, is situated in a municipal park in the older section of the Jewish town of Kiryat Shemona. It serves as the local museum dedicated to the memory of townspeople who have fallen in Israel´s various wars." Oh, the irony, the irony! Cheers, Huldra (talk) 08:47, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

There was likely an edit conflict, or my browser did something funny. It was not at all intentional. I apologize for that, and will try my best to prevent it in the future. VR talk 19:00, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm obviously afraid now. Anyways, could you, take you make the line "wounded: 60 civilians" under the casualties in info box, invisible. I tried to look for sources, but didn't find any that support the number. In fact, the only "60 wounded" is coming from the mosque attack.[5] I think someone confused the figure.VR talk 19:05, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

RE: Gaza Devotion period
Hi Ameer, I am not sure if you can read Arabic or not, if so, please have a look at the bottom of this page. Yamanam (talk) 14:37, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Ok, and btw I have forgotten to congratulate you on your excellent Lajjun -work, Congrats! I´m planning to continue on the 1948 Gaza-district villages.. See you around. Cheers, Huldra (talk) 03:11, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- PS. also, I just wondered; did you realise when you started Al-Shajara that it was the home village of Naji al-Ali? ..there is a lot of interesting inf. about the village...we really should expand it. Another thing: The importance of the 1948-villages seem sometimes set, well, a bit by chance. Why, eg. is Barbara, Gaza mid-level importance, while Al-Jiyya is High-level importance? It is not only these two; one (more peaceful) day, I think perhaps we should have a central discussions as to which villagers should be given high-level importance. Anyway, take care, and keep up the very good work you are doing, cheers, Huldra (talk) 03:42, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- Assalamu Alaykom brother, actually I wanted you to see the reactions on your initiative concerning Gaza Devotion period, as I told u, I moved the initiative to Wi-Ar and the reaction there was really good, hopefully we will start working on this initiave as soon as the assault ends, which is very soon in sha'a allah. By the way, don't think that just because Wi-Ar's main language is Arabic then it would have a lot of pro-Palestine, no, this is not the case at all. Please brother include me always in any initiatives or suggestions, I might not be able to contribute that much at Wi-En, but I'll make sure to move it to Wi-Ar and to work on it there. Warm Regards. - Thank you for the update, i started a stub for all of the articles that u mentioned in my talk page. And in sha'a allah, when we start the devotion period it will be expanded, I think we will rely a lot on the English articles. Please keep me in the loop. Thank you brother. The image does not belong. It is in extremely poor taste. You can't portray Gaza as a pleasant sunny place right now. The image lowers the tone of the entire article. I am going to delete it. If you revert me again I will report you. You didn't try to explain nicely, and the tone of your entry on my talk page is not pleasant. 84.9.125.170 (talk) 01:09, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Gaza
Hi Al Ameer Son. I looked at Gaza. I don't want to be discouraging, but I think it still needs a lot of work. Did you know that it's population for example decreased from 42,000 to 17,000 as a result of World War I? I read that in Shahin's book on Palestine yesterday and it's just one thing that comes to mind when I look at the article which is missing a lot of important info on Gaza' history. Anyway, I'll try to make some meaningful additions towards improving it (and not just throw out random suggestions here on your talk page). I'm having serious concentration problems recently (my thoughts are all scattered) but I'll do my best to pull it together soon to give you better feedback at the page there and add some sources and content too. Good work in expanding it though. It was totally pathetic before you began adding things. Your work is good, it's just a huge topic to cover. It may need a mumber of summary articles to do the place's long history any justice. Anyway, good work and thanks for prodding me on it. Tiamuttalk 15:56, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
- No, no, it's not discouraging at all; that's why I asked if you saw any issues that I didn't find. That bit about the population is very important for the Demographics section, so please add it as soon as possible. As for history, the Ottoman era is large enough, but the other sections could be expanded, particularly the 20th century. I found some more info on the Christian era that I will add soon too. I agree that we should start sub-articles later. I recently started al-Shifa Hospital but it needs work. I'm planning to start the article on St. Porphyrius Church soon and more article on Gaza mayors (Said al-Shawa and Rashad al-Shawa have been commenced). Anyway, I hope you could gather your thoughts soon for the sake of Palestine on Wikipedia. Looking forward to your additions on the great city! Salaamat akhti. --Al Ameer son (talk) 22:32, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
