August 2013

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Buses in Ipswich. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -
→Davey2010→→Talk to me!→ 21:07, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

The material in question is fully sourced. In future, please take care to read any material you wish to remove, prior to removing it.  Adam Mugliston  talk  21:50, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Look unsourced or not whatever!, Route lists don't belong on WP!,
Disruptive editing could lead to a block Mr Mugliston so I'd read WP:DISRUPTIVE EDITING If I were you!. →Davey2010→→Talk to me!→ 22:39, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Please don't raise your tone too much when it is not necessary. Please familiarise yourself with the material you disagree with and decide on which policy it really violates, before accusing others of disruptive editing.  Adam Mugliston  talk  22:46, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Hey now, what is going on here? Davey, please could you explain on the article talk page why you object to the material in question?
For obvious reasons, I also suggest you both stop editing the article until the conclusion of that discussion. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 22:53, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
I'm not raising my tone tho?, It's considered route lists are directory's which I put in the edit summary WP:NOTDIR, It's also assumed if people need route info they'd check operators site - Not Wikipedia,
Adam knows all this which is why I found it pointless raising it with him again ?
→Davey2010→→Talk to me!→ 23:21, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
You decided what was in his head, and on that basis you decided whether discussion was or was not necessary? Would you like to explain that to me one more time? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 23:26, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
I would like to point out that WP:NOTDIR states that "Wikipedia also includes reference tables", which is something such a list is. It also mentions that "Lists of loosely associated topics" are against policy and a list of bus routes is not a loosely associated topic. . A directory is something one would use to search for a particular item, something a list of bus routes cannot provide. It is more of an overview of the services provided as part of a prose article on the subject. This is something I hope to expand on with other towns in future. The list is also fully sourced and satisfies issues raised in the past.  Adam Mugliston  talk  23:32, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
No!, He's been through this before with others ..... So If he knows this I fail to see why I or others should retell him over and over and over and over? ......
Read WP:NOTGUIDE & WP:FANCRUFT whilst you're at it! -
→Davey2010→→Talk to me!→ 23:42, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
Could you please decide which policy you claim the material violates? You seem to be giving different reasons all the time.  Adam Mugliston  talk  08:38, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
WP:NOTGUIDE states that "An article on Paris should mention landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, but not the telephone number or street address of the "best" restaurants, nor the current price of a café au lait on the Champs-Élysées." In the same way, a lists of bus routes mentions the routes, however does not give every street or bus stop served, nor the ticket price. WP:FANCRUFT states that "As with most of the issues of What Wikipedia is not in Wikipedia, there is no firm policy on the inclusion of obscure branches of popular culture subjects. It is true that things labeled fancruft are often deleted from Wikipedia. This is primarily because articles labeled as fancruft are often poorly written, unwikified, non-neutral, unreferenced, or contain original research." Since there is no firm policy on what counts as fancruft, there is not much of a case with buses. As quoted, the reason for the usual deletion of fancruft is due to their unencyclopedic nature: being poorly written, being unreferenced or non-neutral. The list of bus routes in question is not either of those things. It is fully reference, it is neutral and is not poorly written.  Adam Mugliston  talk  09:19, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
Give up & accept the fact route lists are uncyclopedic & not needed nor wanted & will be removed by me or others!, →Davey2010→→Talk to me!→ 14:16, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
This encyclopaedia is not owned by anyone, so it doesn't matter if a small group of people don't want it. You saying that and saying that you will remove it shows that you don't like it, but are currently unable to show a valid policy that shows that lists of bus routes should not be here.  Adam Mugliston  talk  15:44, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Buses in Ipswich. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. -

I think I know what's going on and a template message is really unnecessary.  Adam Mugliston  talk  16:24, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Buses in Ipswich

Please engage on the talk page of this article. You're at 3RR now by the way (not beyond it as my edit summary suggested - sorry about that) if you really want a policy to refer to. I think WP:CONSENSUS is probably worth a look as well. Blue Square Thing (talk) 16:28, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

The violated 3RR was simply replacing the constructive edits by yourself and Charles' adjustment of the prose, which I deleted by mistake. I have said the same on the article's talk page.  Adam Mugliston  talk  16:31, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
As noted on the article talk, I think at least one rvt from me went astray given the timings of edits. Let's deal with this on the article talk page now - remember that 3RR doesn't just deal with actual reversions but also adding or removing content a set number of times. I really, really don't want to play a heavy hand on 3RR - I don't think that's constructive. Take a look at the couple of articles I've linked to on the article and let's see if we can build something similar to these. Blue Square Thing (talk) 16:50, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
